Had a fun birthday. Had some alligator tail for dinner, overall was pretty good for a place I hadn't been to before. Will start getting back into the groove of things soon.

Hi. If you've wound up here, you're probably wondering who I am.
You can call me Kuro, although some of you might better recognize me by one of the several other names that I have used in the past throughout the 11-ish years that I have spent on this forum. I'm a middle-twenties retail manager that is still trying to relive the glory days of their roleplay career while balancing a full-time job with an unsatiable need for overtime.
I tend to be open to most ideas when it comes to roleplay itself, be it whatever genre, group size, system, etc. That being said, I often gravitate to anything that falls in the following categories: anime, fantasy, slice of life, superhero or survival horror. If you believe that you have an idea that I might be interested in, feel free to shoot me a link; I'll get back to you as soon as I possibly can. Sometimes I forget to check my messages, so don't feel bad about pestering me again if I missed it.
I also have a discord server laying around. If we're cool, then I might be willing to a toss an invite your way.
Miriam Santorini is a twenty-three year old bookworm who spends a frankly improbable amount of time reading when she's not writing short stories to sell, sent off to the mainland through snail mail. Despite that, she's fairly personable, and maintains a decent social life. Her greatest sacrifice is sleep, which she doesn't get quite enough of, and mitigates the lack of through unreasonable amounts of tea.

There are stories passed down in the Santorini family about their ancestor Gran-Lupe, and the magical prowess that he apparently had. Enough to grow crops in a day and a tree in a week; to divert streams, create ponds, and pile up hills. And, they say, that's how the Santorini family home came to be. Smallish, humble, made of dark gray stone, it sits atop a lakeside hill just outside of town, where Miriam lives along with her grandmother, parents, and two siblings.
Miriam doesn't quite believe in the stories of Gran-Lupe Santorini. Not really. But she still thinks that there's something like magic here.
So though the Santorini family has clearly seen better days, despite their money drying up and what prestige they had falling largely by the wayside, Miriam quite likes it here. She was always a quiet sort growing up; and even now, though she's perfectly happy socializing, she's still rather introverted, and the thought of moving to the big city that excites others her age makes her break out in hives. She's more than happy to stay here with her books and papers, devouring whole libraries and using the money that she makes by selling stories to ship yet more out to Starlight Cove. When not otherwise occupied with her books, peers, or household, she's often out in nature, rambling across the island and enjoying the island's 'magic.'
As long as she doesn't break her glasses. She's helpless without them.
The island village of Starlight Cove is in a rough place.
Established many, many moons ago, the rural community has begun to show signs of age as it struggles to adapt to the modern world. The elder populace despair, watching their homeland dry up as the new generations are drawn away by the fancy, alluring lights of the mainland. What were once happy meadows, taverns and other locales are now desolate, left empty and abandoned to nature. For the passerby, Starlight Cove is quite the depressing place, but to those stubborn enough to remain, it's home—a home worth saving.
Roleplay Overview
Starlight Cove is a roleplay inspired by the likes of Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, and Stardew Valley. It is a small scale, rural slice-of-life roleplay with minor fantasy elements (such as monsters lurking in caves and ancient forest spirits).
Similar to its inspiration, the goal of the roleplay, as well as the player characters, is to ensure the town doesn't disappear and remains a place worth living. How this is accomplished is up to the cast, as there is no path or plot route aside from the predetermined background. Consider the roleplay a blank slate, or otherwise a free roam-esque sandbox to do as you wish and/or explore potential character ideas or plots you've been wanting to write but never had a chance to.
After all, the world's your oyster now; you just gotta save it first.
Please include an anime picture of some kind for your character's appearance. No real life FCs, please.
