In my opinion though, removing the the class restrictions, removes part of the Fire Emblem from this Fire Emblem role play.

Doing that would take a significant step to being your run of the mill, medieval fantasy role play. Something that is a dime a dozen on this website to begin with.

I wasn't thinking remove them completely but alter then within a logical progression to allow for more realistic scenarios and development. While we're on the subject of how Fire Emblem differs from run of the mill, medieval fantasy games most of that has to do with the game play command style as a pieces on a chess board sort of design which is essentially lost when transitioning it to a roleplay. It's already very close to being a run of the mill, medieval fantasy roleplay simply by the necessity of how Fire Emblem games are written and designed so throwing out the class system wouldn't exactly do that much more than making Fire Emblem into a roleplay hasn't already done, that said I wasn't suggesting we throw out the class system.

@Prince Of Seraphs
I was actually planning to do some parts of this. In the weapons section, I was going to detail all the different sorts of weapons that fit into the different categories. I was also going to make it so that those who exclusively wield staves can still hit with them, but just aren't very proficient at doing so and therefore rely more on fighter classes to protect them.

The classes have certain rules to them, but they're more guidelines than restrictions.

The problems I'm having is that the class system as it is currently set up extreme limits on what I can do with a character. I can't create a thief that plays a musical instrument because that falls into the Bard's class. I can't have a knight who knows lances and swords or a Mage that fell on hard times and resorted to stealing learning the tricks of a thief in the process. I can't have a Fighter whose familiar with tactical analysis because that falls under the domain of the Tacticians. I can't create a Kindred whose ashamed of there ancestor and so prefers using conventional weapons and only uses the transformation stones in extremely dire circumstances. I've got a hundred different ideas for characters spinning round my head and each time I think I've landed on one that works well I cross reverence it with the class guide and realize that it crosses the boundaries too far.

On a completely unrelated note is the Falchion going to be making an appearance?
@Prince of Seraphs, Thank you. I think I have changed my signature for the better.

You also want to put my name in square brackets for a functional mention, again the OCD.

Hey @Lugubrious don't you think the class system is a little constricting?

I mean yes I know it's fire emblem and as a tactical game it makes perfect sense that these classes are limited to these skills and abilities and you have to formulate your plans around who can do what. However in a transition to a realistic scenario I think the limits the classes impose are sort of ridiculous.

Like realistically a medieval thief is going to want a small and less hefty weapon than a sword that way when breaking and entering it's not cumbersome but he can still defend himself if discovered.

A troubadour is a traveling minstrel who goes from town to town singing songs and ballads and telling stories for whatever money the townsfolk are willing to give him or her. As a constant traveler it would be downright foolish not to know how to wield some sort of weapon in case of ambush by bandits or thieves.

These are just a few examples, as a bonus the actual weapons available are also rather limited. While in a tactical game this was perfectly normal and sensible it seems a little ridiculous for a real life scenario. We are more or less limited to:
  • Swords
  • Axes
  • Lances
  • Bows
  • Tomes
  • Staves
  • Stones

We could have things like quarter staffs, daggers, halberds, maces, flails, morning stars, crossbows, warhammers, scythes, and sickles. That sort of thing. I'm not saying that a character should be able to use every weapon but classes such as say mercenary would have to know how to use a lot more than just a sword if they wanted to be effective at their job and live long enough to get paid. Likewise knights would know more than just the lance or the sword and bowman generally would have a sword or some close range weapon on hand in case the enemy got close enough that the bow was no longer effective.

I cannot look at this signature without cringing. You can place a hyperlink within a word in your post rather than having the URL scrawled across the screen. It works something like this.

[*url=place the url of the page you want to link to here]place the words you want to act as the hyper link here[/url]

With this implemented your signature would look something like this:

Supers a Super Power RP Closed

I should also mention that Kindred Souls and The Broken Drum are linked to pages 3 and 5 of the OOC rather than page 1. Don't know if that was on purpose or not but thought I should mention it.

Don't take any offense to this, it's more about my OCD than anything you did wrong.

Ah, dude? Seriously?
I'm not blaming either you or PoS in this case because with both Shiro and Sapphire it wasn't flat-out acceptance or total opposition in either case, but I'm saying in general: a character having no opinions is about as uninteresting as a character having totally unchangeable opinions, though in the latter case something is written while in the former nothing is.

Well they're not totally unchangeable positions in Sapphire's case. The faunus thing she believes pretty strongly in because she grew up with a father who hated faunus and doesn't doubt a large number of human would want all faunus gone. Also she has a rather alarming inability to admit when she was wrong if it proven to her, she also almost never apologizes. I'm not saying that's a good thing but it's true.
Then again, it's just as uninteresting to completely fold as to be completely unyielding in opposition.

Well you do of course have those static characters in any novel... like Pop now that I think of it but they're usually side characters or antagonists. Like Javert from Les Miserables who committed suicide when he compromised his initial morals. I see your point though, those characters in novels that refuse to change even when faced with over whelming evidence that they should generally become those characters that you start swearing at to get a grip half way through the story. They're also never main characters.
Passive and malleable? Hm... No offense taken, I'm open to criticism. I know I'm not the best writer and I'm always looking to improve. I just fail to see how Shiro may be passive and malleable. I think he's rather heavily opinionated.

He heard three sentences from a little faunus girl and immediately completely and totally gave up on his mission without even thinking that he might be missing some information.

Just like Skyra's hesitation to kill or even hurt people, right?

I think that's more a personal moral choice, like Sapphire won't kill be people if it can be at all avoided. The thing I was talking about was more to do with Shiro's overall personality, or at least how he's come off to me so far.
People with mild delusions and such get therapy and assistance. If she was seeing people that weren't there or something of that sort sure. People with seriously violent delusions such as devouring others do get chucked into mental asylums. It might not necessarily be forever but until she can be cured. The thing is people with violent delusions would be considered a danger to themselves and to others because if they're delusions remain constant their is every possibility that the delusions may cross from fantasy to reality. If she believes she is doing these things at some point in her life she may actually devour a real person not knowing the difference between reality and fantasy. If her delusion is threatened in some way she could easily become violent and harm either herself or others.

Before you say that Mokuren wouldn't do any of this it doesn't matter what you can assure us she would or wouldn't do. These are what the staff of Beacon are aware could happen and to prevent potential injury to any of the students or staff the safest response would be to relocate Mokuren to a facility equipped to help people with problems like hers.

@harinezumikouken no offense but I saw this and immediately thought of Shiro.
Right, So now she is a nutter who occasionally goes into the corner to nibble on Nothing. It works!

And, having her with a violence love and all that is just, boring. Generic. And kinda suckish. I like branching out, doing things never thought of before, or never really done. It amuses me. And RP is for your own amusement, really. There should not be any other reason to RP than to have fun.

The problem is most nutters who occasionally go into the corner to nibble on nothing tend to not remain at prestigious military academies very long before they are shipped off to mental asylums.

Sure a love of violence just like that is rather generic, so find some way to make it your own add in some twists and turns but I don't think the insane angle is the way to go.

Keep in mind what's interesting to an audience
Not what's fun to do as a writer.
They can be very different.

RPing is supposed to be fun, that's the entire point of creating site and stories like this one. But just because it might be fun doesn't always mean it's a good idea.

I was in this RP awhile back, @Forsythe knows what I'm talking about. My character was a fugitive on the run from the government of a particular planet. When I had him meet up with the main cast who were from a different planet I thought since he didn't know these people it would be fun to have him intimidate them and gets onto their ship that way. End Result: the cast started firing on him. Fried all the nerve endings in his dominant hand and had him locked up for the duration of the mission then shipped back to earth more than likely never to be seen again. I had to make a new character to continue in that RP and let me tell you having a character shot down like that in IC is not fun. I don't want to see this come to the point where you can't legitimately continue to use Mokuren within the confines of the RWBY universe.
And both are trumped by .PNG because no compression loss and if optimized smaller size =P

Unfortunately PNG isn't recognized by some programs like iTunes. While it's more effective for optimizing the photo it's less common.
