Honestly it's hard to find a good reference for Austin, don't want him to look too supermodelly and also not look cringe.

Appearance:

Background: Austin was an Elysian Heights native, having grown up with a modest family he lived the downtown core. His life for the most part uneventful, Austin didn't have signs of power until he hit 17 when he ended up launching a ball for his dog just a little too far! While high school quietly ended for Austin and everyone had moved on, he remained in town.

Austin could see that his powers could be used for good, to help people and in a sense he became the first powered vigilante as powerings globally began to develop in a small percent of the population. Using telekinesis, he could project himself in the air and effectively fly (which was kinda badass), as was use his powers to project and throw objects.

So, that is what he did. He'd head into Arcadia and help fight crime, never hiding his face or wearing a funny skin-tight suit he helped those in need, fighting crime, assisting the elderly and helping communities. He was famous in a sense through the news; everyone knew who he was from being such a timid kid in high school, he was somebody.

Austin died, his death was ruled as an accident, the cause being the overuse of his powers, detrotiated his bod,y causing a heart attack.

So they say.

Sure, I wasn't planning on going into unnecessary detail. But good to know that we can touch on these issues. Heads up - Austin's widow is going to have seen a side of him that perhaps nobody else has.

Is any type of content off-limits in this RP? E.g. substance abuse, domestic/gender-based violence, and so on?

I think mentioning or referencing these themes are fine but detailed scenes of these issues should be avoided.

Austin Witten is dead.

In a world where the emergence of people with superpowers has slowly diluted the human populace, the world has struggled to accept able-powered people. Even with the introduction of powers, the world just slowly gotten worse, but there are still good people in this world to keep things moving along.

That was Austin; he was always a good guy. The one you could depend on for anything, maybe not so much when we were growing up with him but him being powered, he actually could make a difference.

Now that he's dead, I wonder who will come to mourn.

I wonder even though he's gone, we can still do good.

Premise

AUSTIN IS DEAD is a short story/roleplay where you take up the role of a character who knew Austin Witten, a friend, lover, enemy.

Austin died; he was a "powered" (hero-esque) from your hometown of Elysian Heights.

You're returning for his funeral among side the other cast of players, maybe you kept it touch, maybe you didn't.

Now you're here, and Austin is dead in a world that is turning sour towards powered people. On most accounts, he was a good guy.

The roleplay will reflect on themes like falling out with friends, loss of a love one and doing good when it isn't always convenient.

I'm looking for a small cast of dedicated players to help flesh this out and make Austin's story one that won't be forgotten.

Story Structure

The story will unfold in a few quick acts.

Act 1 will introduce the characters as they enter town for the funeral.

Act 2 will be the funeral for Austin

Act 3 will cut to a final goodbye as the players depart Elysian Heights.

There may be thinks going on in between the acts.

Each new GM post after the initial one will include a collab with one of the players per post with a flashback with Austin before.

While this may be a short story, have fun with it and engage as you will.
