Bio

Call me Laser. I run on NZDT and Wellington coffee.

Actually, that's a lie, I don't run at all if I can help it.

Always keen for new RPs, books, music, recipes, and conversation. I'm occasionally funny and will tell you the same 7 stories over and over - what else do you need from a friend?

@Kenshi Yeah, just need to add some dead parents & musical numbers!
Pandora paced for a minute as she tried to calm herself, then when her breathing finally slowed she stood still at the edge of the clearing, water bottle in hand. With her eyes closed and every other sense on high alert, she finally managed to concentrate on the spirit world more than the physical one. Following the trail left by the thing that had possessed Denise, she tried to open her mind to the energies left behind so she could better decipher them.

Unfortunately for Pandora, it was just the opportunity the evil thing had been waiting for.

She suddenly emitted a loud gasp, eyes open wide but unseeing as her water bottle dropped to the ground. Unlike Denise's possession, her body did not move but remained in place, all but rooted to the ground, ever muscle in her body tense and her face raised to the sky. Though her pupils were trained on some distant point in the grey sky, in her mind she saw only what the malevolent entity wanted her to: Joe. Rather, parts of Joe. Strips of his skin fell to the floor of a darkened room as he screamed and writhed in agony, skinned alive by a mysterious figure. Though Pandora could tell that the figure was female, it faced away from her and she could see no facial features, only the back of her nude and filthy body as she went about her bloody work.

"Joe!" Pandora gasped as the spirit released her from the vision and she fell to her knees, back in the corporeal world before she even knew what was happening. "It has Joe!"
"Wow. You have to teach me how to do that sometime!" Ashley complimented Lucas as they slipped through the disarmed door, keeping her eyes peeled for any agents in the staff lot. Luckily, it didn't look like the BSI had thought to keep someone there... or if they had been, they had left when a bear started ripping into their fellows, which she supposed was fair. As annoyed as she was by Alex's actions, she had to admit they were effective.

"Let's see if one of these is unlocked, save us the time of picking the door then hotwiring," She suggested, then started trying door handles. Her eyes flicked over to the row of motorcycles - mostly students', she didn't really understand why the teacher's lot was also the motorcycle lot - but quickly dismissed them. If they were all going to get away, they'd need something more practical.

Startled by the sudden arrival of a hawk, the pigeons in the lot suddenly took off abruptly, almost hitting Ashley as they flew between cars. "What the hell!" She exclaimed, jumping as one's wings brushed her hair. Unfortunately she was still holding a door handle when she jumped, and ripped it right off of the car. The car alarm immediately started blaring and the handle cracked and fell to the ground in tiny pieces as her hands balled into fists, frustration making it hard for Ash to focus. "Oh come on! Can one thing go right today? One stupid thing!" She complained, punching a hole through the car door.
Kalama Guynn & Rowan Childe

Poor Yorick's

“About Ken? What about Ken?” Rowan asked, a little too quickly. Though he was a little flustered and more than a little flattered by how abruptly the other man had offered to change his flirting strategy, the mention of the boy with the rats still got his blood pumping. Although the scene was eerily familiar to the deer and the squirrel, he had been consciously aware of doing it both times - that had felt different, and clearly affected Ken differently too. Already about his powers being discovered, the dreadlocked veteran tried his best to play down the abrupt question. “I mean yeah, that was weird, but I don’t know what happened,” He explained, finally taking a sip of his chai.

That took an instant weight off his shoulders. He couldn’t quite explain why the chai made his day so much brighter, given the mix was pretty average for a college kid coffee shop, but it clearly was made with love. “Thanks Kal,” he murmured as his roommate took a sip of her own drink, a mexican mocha with chili, and offered him a little smile over the rim of the mug.

“Something in the air? I thought allergy season was over,” Kal quipped to Valeria. “But yeah, same.” She leaned back in her chair to check the group text, and happened to glance over at Elysia’s drawings, noticing one that seemed eerily familiar. “Wait, you’ve only been here a minute. When did you draw this?” She asked the other girl, tilting the paper to check out the spider with a strangely familiar hairstyle.

But before she could get an answer, the vibe of the room suddenly shifted. The subtle effects of her drinks were overshadowed abruptly by something that pushed on her mind the same way the dreams did. Her concern mounted as Kyle started speaking, and her big, dark eyes flicked to Caleb for a moment, guilt mixing with alarm as she remembered her first fire. The others since only confirmed what Kyle was saying, that there was something going on that defied all logic and reason… but what connection did anyone else at this table possibly have to it?

To her surprise, it was Rowan who spoke first. “You’re not crazy,” He said point blank. He stared down at the table, frowning intensely as he tried to decide whether he wanted to do this or not. Trusting others was difficult, but Kyle was right. The dreams, the feelings, there were invisible bindings running between all of them that he couldn’t quite define. Lying to Caleb had seemed necessary, but felt wrong as soon as the falsehood left his lips. “Do you remember that deer that walked right into the middle of the building? I think I did that. And I know that sounds crazy, but…” He trailed off and held his hand out, closing his eyes.

For a minute Kalama just stared, wondering if he was actually losing his marbles, before a moth suddenly flew into his open palm. Followed by a gnat, a second gnat, a fly… every bug in the building seemed to be flocking to that single point. She almost couldn’t believe her eyes - but compared to starting fires with her mind, was this really so bizarre?
If Pandora had known it was going to be a forty-five minute hike through the forest, she would have been a lot less enthusiastic about getting started right away. By the time they made it to the ruined shack she was tired, thirsty, and far too focused on the looming dark and buzzing mosquitoes to even attempt any psychic investigation. At most she felt a vague pressure in the air as she opened her backpack to grab her water bottle. Just as she got her first sip, all hell broke loose. The bottle fell to the ground as Denise walked into the middle of the circle, the looming evil suddenly becoming tangible, a choking presence that made it difficult for her to think, much the less speak.

And then, suddenly, it disappeared. Rather, it disappeared from the air and manifested itself in their teammate. Pandora could only stare in shock when Denise spoke to her, every hair on her body standing on end. What language was she speaking? Better question, who was speaking? Lost for any practical way to help, Pandora found herself rooted in place by fear as Denise tore off into the woods, followed by Philip and then TJ, but it was Daniel's question that finally snapped Pandora back into the present.

"I-I don't know," She had to admit, picking up her water bottle with shaking hands. "I've never- I didn't- I don't..." her explanations all failed and she forced herself to take a deep breath and a drink of water, trying to find her center again. "I didn't go to school for this, okay? I'm going off of instinct here," She explained, leaving out the part where her instincts were telling her to take TJ up on the offer he made to Daniel and just fucking leave while she still could. "The best thing I can do is figure out where it went so I know if it's coming back. I just need some peace and quiet," She explained, mostly to herself, as she ran her hands through her hair and tried to slow her breathing, let her mind expand, and focus on the signals the spirit world was sending. They were hard to decipher with such a font of evil nearby, but as her heart rate slowed some details began to emerge. She couldn't sensate whatever had possessed Denise, but she could feel a trail it had left and started mentally examining it for clues, searching for any hints of identity whilst also being watchful of another ambush.
Ashley

"I'm with you," Ash confirmed, squinting through the ventilation duct. It looked like it opened into the hallway near the door to the teacher's lot, but from here she couldn't be sure if the coast was clear or not. Staying put wasn't an option, and with any luck all the agents were still busy figuring out what had happened in the cafeteria. She raised her fist then paused for a second, giving Celine a slightly guilty look. She seemed like the jumpy type, but there was no other option from this side.

"This is going to be loud," Ash warned the others before punching through the vent cover, knocking it to the floor with one well-placed hit. She stuck her head through to confirm the coast was clear then jumped down, reaching up to help the others. At least super strength was handy for this kind of stuff, even if it was probably her powers that had alerted the BSI in the first place. They were so close to making it out of here, but she felt guilty about leaving the Alex behind. Stupid or not, his distraction meant all the agents were now focused in one place.
@Laser Kiwi

Thanks boss, where would be a good place for me to start?

I should have a new post up in a minute, it's up to you if you'd like your character to come across either group of escapees or join up with them at some future point. :)
@Eviledd1984 Accepted! Looks great.

Sorry I haven't been more active, y'all. I should have a post up later today!
Kalama Guynn & Rowan Childe

Poor Yorick's

He added his number to the sheet and passed it on just as the latest addition to their group arrived. Feeling the same inexplicable connection, Rowan offered Elysia a small smile and wave. He couldn't help but be pleased when Kyle started the conversation so it didn't fall to him again. "Yeah, it was easier than most. I have some notes too, but I kind of faded out halfway through," the young man admitted, opening his binder to reveal only half a page. "I haven't been sleeping well lately and that lecture almost knocked me out." He played idly with one of his dreadlocks as he spoke, a nervous tick that seemed incongruous with his otherwise calm demeanor.

Caleb's whistle did not endear him to Kalama, but otherwise the drink-making went smoothly. Rather than refuse Kyle's unusual request, she prepared a plain glass of water for him and also a mug of house blend herbal tea. Chamomile, lavender, and a handful of other herbs designed to soothe the nerves and calm anxious students. Maybe he wasn't anxious, exactly, but he looked like he could use the soothing.

Distributing the drinks around the table, she set the two down in front of him with a little smile. "It's on me. No caffeine, no gluten, just a lot of flavor. If you don't like it you don't have to drink it... but I think you will," She explained. Though it seemed a stretch to call her drink-making ability magical, like her grandmother she had always associated sharing food and drink with family and coming together - which seemed mysteriously appropriate for this group, even if she couldn't put her finger on why.

"Elysia, this is Kalama. Would you like anything to drink?" Rowan made the introduction in what seemed to be his permanent role now. He flicked a glance to Kal to see if she minded, but she was already looking to Elysia and seemed willing enough to get up one more time. While she was at the table, he passed her the group text sign up sheet and she quickly scrawled her number, maybe not realizing who had started the whole thing.
