Avulus will fight her and win. Primarily by punching her really hard.

Xirphi was, needless to say, taken by surprise by Lucile since she was just concentrating on her stomach more than anything. However, she then went to retaliate, until she was kicked down and she then realized that her tail had been impaled. Again, she had little time to react when Lucile kicked her in the stomach. Words registered as she heard the green-haired one speak to her before kicking her again and again. Pain definitely registered, but it wasn’t much to her as her hide absorbed much of the kicks’ power. Yet, there was little her hide could do when a boot came crashing down upon her throat.

It seemed she was in a predicament, one that she had been in only once when she had dealt with angels in the past when she was in her prime. Xirphi felt that the only way to get out of this would be to fall back on her old strategy of wordplay as her hands instinctively went to get the boot off her throat by attempting to push back on it. ”Wait, wait, wait! Let’s not go and be hasty here! Making me throw up souls sounds like it would be a lot of work and I don’t even think I actually can throw them up. At least not without having my tongues come out,” Xirphi gasped, hoping that her words would hit home somewhere, [color=a2d39c]”My tongues are the only thing that can drag those souls anywhere, look see!”

The lizard attempted to split her mouth open to show off her impressive tongues yet she couldn’t exactly do that. Her face kind of looked like what a dog would do when it has something stuck to the roof of its mouth. Try as she might, she couldn’t quite split her mouth open. ”Well it seems like I can’t get my tongues to work. Never thought I’d hear myself say that,” Xirphi commented before continuing, ”Anyways, my point stands. So it seems this is a pointless exercise, so if you let me go I’d be on my way to never bother you again!” To finish off her statement, Xirphi even gave forth a nervous smile as she tried to figure out the best course of action.

Xirphi’s animalistic behavior had immediately gone away when her hunger did, her mind retaking control of her body as Lucile began to speak. The Devourer turned to face Lucile, reforming her mouth and making a rather confused face at the green-haired one’s tactless comment involving the one called ‘King Rufus’. She knew exactly what Lucile was talking about as well, her mother was a succubus after all, obviously she meant actually eating the King, but was more confused on what made this girl think that Xirphi could choke when eating something. The lizard could intake a lot before she felt anything that would make her gag, especially when she made her mouth come apart.

Her mouth opened to speak before Lucile continued with her words, hearing the threat before continuing on in a more matter-of-factly way. ”I’ve heard of this ‘King Rufus’ before, but personally, I think you underestimate the amount I can eat before I begin to choke. I mean, I can also spit up acid which can reduce the size of my the food,” Xirphi began, signaling to Lucile that Xirphi may be taking her words a bit too literally. She then looked up into the air, continuing, ”However, what I’m more curious on, is why I actually feel full. It feels like a blessing.” A smile came upon her face as she spoke, her gaze going back to the Black Goat, seemingly ignoring the threat.

”Anyways, if you’re not interested in my name, may I have yours?,” the lizard asked, her smile still firmly planted on her face. Xirphi loved the fact that she actually felt full for once, the first time she actually felt this way in fact. Her hands clasped her cheeks as she let out a noise of satisfaction as she relished the feeling of her body no longer demanded substance. Whatever caused this, it certainly made her more happy than angry.

The last thing she briefly felt was the blade of Bonesword’s weapon being jammed into her head before a darkness the likes of which she has never seen washed over her. Her memories came to her, the people she has devoured and those who were all slaughtered in the name of her trying to rid her curse of hunger. It sickened her, but then her memories settled on her last attack, the concentration of those she has devoured into a beam. The skeleton had just taken it and it angered her more than the words of Indra before her death. Yet, there was little she could do, as the cold hands of death itself had wrapped around her weak and hungry soul.

However, the Nexus was not done with her just as it was not done with the eternal war that raged inside it. Xirphi’s crimson eyes slowly fluttered open as she came to, her first sight was the fiery hellscape that she was used to, in fact she thought she was back home again and thought her parents were going to greet her. Then, she found that she was in the Sanctum of the faction of Hell. It was a saddening thing to know she was still stuck in a place that only knew war, but what was worse was her hunger was continuing to plague her existence.

Getting to her feet, the lizard scanned her surroundings, it definitely was the sanctum. Xirphi began to walk forward and out of the Sanctum to the see the swarming demon nest that was the faction’s capital. She could see many demons, their souls made her hunger and the hunger was maddening, however, she did not want to die again so Xirphi held her head down and continued forwards, wanting nothing more than to get out of the capital. However, there was nothing the demon could do to stop her tongues from seemingly begging her to be unleashed so that they may end her hunger.

Xirphi couldn’t help but look up to see how far she had made it, apparently it was not very far, only a few hundred feet. The demon let out a sigh as she heard her stomach growl, thinking to herself I don’t think I’m going to make it out without nibbling on someone. Her face grew long as she made her way further and further through the capitol, not bothering to try and look at all the chaos that surrounded her, given it was Hell and Hell was… sinful?

Sometimes she didn’t know how to describe her home place, though being herself, she was not inclined to care about much other than pointlessly trying to fill her own stomach. The stomach which forced her into what could be called a demonic bar, Xirphi hadn’t even noticed that she had walked into the place as she concentrated on controlling her hunger. There were demons of many shapes and sizes within the bar, too many souls for her to stay. She turned to leave before she heard someone speak out to her, “Hey little lady, leaving just as you arrived? Come on, most of us don’t bite and the food is good!”

Xirphi knew it was likely a lie but the word “Food” prompted her to turn her head with the biggest grin that anyone could make. Near instantly, the one who had spoken to her found that she was sitting in front of him at the bar, bouncing up and down eagerly. The bartender seemed fancy enough in his attire and was generally attractive, Xirphi guessed he was an Incubus of some form. He let out a chuckle before speaking once more to the hungry soul, asking in a sort of happy-go-lucky tone, “Glad you decided to stay. Anything you’d like?”

”Yes!” Xirphi chirped happily before continuing ”I want every piece of food you have!” The little demon hungrily licked her lips, her eyes filled with happiness at the prospect of eating some food. Though, the bartender was slightly taken back by the demand, blinking a few times to register the request before getting out a notepad and writing the simple order of “one of everything” purely so they wouldn’t run out of food. While he did so, Xirphi took the the opportunity to look around the bar.

Unlike a lot of the red fiery hellscape she was used to, the room was lit with light from blue flames and while there were many different types of demon many of them seemed to generally be calm. Even those who seemed like wrath would be their primary sin, though she could never guess. There were round tables, square tables, even pool tables. Her eyes went back to the bartender who finished up writing down the order. “Would you like any thing to drink?”

”You got any mead?”

“Any particular type?”

”There are types?”

The bartender, with a more than confused look, shook his head and simply laughed before fetching the mead that Xirphi wanted. He brought her back a flagon of the stuff before getting out a rag and beginning to clean off the countertop. The lizard was more than happy to see a flagon with some mead as it reminded her of her time before the Nexus, when she used to roam the mortal plane and devour the human souls of the norsemen who tried their best to slay her. It was those memories that made Xirphi happy, a light smile coming across her face as she drank the mead.

“You got a name?”

”Oh, it’s Xirphi,” she said, snapping back to reality with her eyes focusing on the bartender.

“Interesting name. Nice to meet you, I’m Azazel,” the bartender said with a smile, as the conversation between the two began. “You got any stories to tell? Interesting adventures from beyond these demonic walls?”

Xirphi gave a blank, dead-fish stare before sipping some more of her mead, ”I died to a skeleton with a sword, working for the humans. You’d imagine that I am not in the best of moods.”

Azazel had to control a laugh, not wanting to just be rude to his customer. “That sure sounds less the optimal. Too bad you don’t have the power of Titanica, you’d unkillable,” he said in a sarcastic manner, though his sarcasm was not heard by the likes of Xirphi in gave a confused look and cocked her head. “You do know who Titanica is, right?,” he asked. The lizard shook her head as she continued to drink her mead. Then he began laughing at her, “You don’t know about Titanica, the destroyer of worlds?”

A more than annoyed look came on her face, had she been at her old power before the angels cleansed her, this welp would be paying for his words. ”Destroyer of Worlds? That means nothing to a devourer like me! I used to be the most feared thing known to the likes of man!,” Xirphi stated cockily, looking away from Azazel in what would be described as the most pompous head turn in existence.

“Bold words coming from someone who died to a skeleton,” Azazel laughed.

Xirphi sighed in defeat, before slamming her head down on the counter, cracking it. ”It’s true. I am at my weakest, I hit rock bottom,” she cried.

“Maybe you should try to find Titanica and have her train you,” Azazel replied sarcastically.

The lizard raised her head with wide eyes, the sarcasm of the statement not meeting the small amount of usable brain that she apparently had. ”You’re right!,” she said in a much happier tone, ”If I were trained by someone who is that powerful then I may be able to reach my old power again!” Needless to say, the bartender was shocked that his very blatant sarcasm didn’t work on Xirphi. She let out a very loud belch before nonchalantly continuing, ”Anyways, my hunger is quite literally driving me insane. I think I’ll take my food now.”

“But the chef isn’t done yet.”

”That’s not what I meant,” she stated before her true mouth opened up. The only thing that was last heard from the bartender was a scream of pain before his soul was devoured by Xirphi. The other demons looked on in shock, some getting out their own weapons as the lizard turned towards them before lunging into the fray.

On the outside of the bar, other demons gathered in curiosity as they heard the sign of battle and screams of pain. Some of them assumed that it was going to be a bar fight that had simply gotten out of hand, yet, they did not expect a small lizard to jump out of the window and land on all fours like a savage animal.

Xirphi’s tendrils we held at the ready, though there was no control in her form, instead she had lost her mind as she charged the crowd. Some of the demons attempted to move forward to fight her off, but her tongues ripped through them to grab their souls. Some cowards started to run, and the death of those foolish enough to stay and try to fend her off sent the peons screaming as she hunted them down through the streets. While her aura was largely flaring around massively, she was still devouring demons in which her powers were less effective towards.

The devourer left many dead in her wake, killing indiscriminately as her feeding frenzy continued on. Many of those who she was devouring were simple imps or those who were simply not demons meant for fighting. That left her to devour many, and her savage animal mind revelled in it as the senseless violence. Though she, herself, found little joy in killing, the madnenning hunger had consumed her, leaving her as little more than a bloodthirsty killer.

The power from the souls, she could feel them, she could feel herself growing stronger. It made her subconscious satisfied and she felt as if nothing could stop her.

It seemed that whatever was ahead of her got ambushed, and getting closer she saw an skeletal being and a strange woman, along with a basilisk. Xirphi skidded to a halt, her three tongues manifesting as she stood a couple yards away from the three. She stood up and eyed them for a moment, noticing the skeleton was not moving away from the lady, though the basilisk seemed afraid, she began to circle around the right side of them, not sure at what to do in this situation. The Devourer could never tell if people were friend or foe these days, and unfortunately for her, most people were foe.

”Well, ain’t this fun?,” were her only words as she remained focused on the group, though her eyes were more on the woman than anything else. While she could attack and attempt to slaughter them both, there was some kind of aura emanating from the woman and it left a bad taste in her mouth. However, running meant her back would be turned to a potential enemy which was something that she couldn’t simply let happen. In the distance, further into the Oasis, she could hear the symphony of explosions, a sound that was not foreign to the Nexus by any means. Her sight moved to the edge of her eyes, wanting to see how close the explosions were, but it was only a glimpse as she forced herself to refocus on the two in front of her. Xirphi felt herself begin to build up acid in her stomach, keeping it at the ready in case she would need to expel some at the three if they proved to be a threat to her.

While Xirphi could have stayed there all day and feast on the scorpions that seemed to be attacking each other at this point, she had a job to do. The snack of the scorpions staved off the hunger pangs for the time being but she knew it would be a little time before she began to feel the true effects of hunger again. She turned and began running through the ravine, moving faster now that she had absorbed the power of several scorpion souls though the boost was exceptionally small given the power of those feeble scorpions meant nothing to other powers.

She could see figures ahead, along with many piles of salivating meat, upon closer inspection Xirphi could see that the forces of angels and man were fighting. That was a certainly strange sight for her, though considering the Nexus, nothing was all too strange that it was outside the realm of reality. The demon did not let them stop her, though she did not want to get in the middle of their battle as taking unnecessary damage would likely cause her to stay behind her pack, unless they were all dead and this was just a pointless exercise. Using the weak souls she had consumed would likely not be a great idea either, especially since she would need to use them later in a dire situation.

Her instinct to attack them was suppressed, through her aura was not as she still hungered for their souls. Xirphi, regardless, gave the angels and such a wide girth as too not draw their attention. The demon dropped to all fours as to get more speed, as well as to lower her profile, though it was awkward given it was not something she did often though it was what her legs were designed to do in the first place. However, it seemed she was not fast enough as she could only keep up with them in pace as she continued forward. At least she could see them.

Ravine

Xirphi stepped through the portal, she was exceptionally late to the metaphorical party, but to be fair she had just arrived amongst the forces of Hell. While those who saw her would make it clear that she was a demon, given her appearance and the general presence of her body language. She could see battles between the forces of Hell, Man, and her best friends of the Angelic beings. The blistering sun caught her attention for a brief moment, causing her to look up and appreciate its warmth as she was accustomed to a rather cold environment and times of warmth could be rare. The arena might not be a complete waste of her time after all, plenty of souls, a nice heat, everything seemed peachy.

The demon took a step forward in the sand, feeling the pangs in her stomach rising once more as she craved for the souls of those who fought in the arena. Yet, she had a job that needed to be done, so she began to stroll through the battlefield, attempting a somewhat of a leisurely stroll as to hopefully not be noticed by the others who were fighting. Her mind, however, began to betray her as she see all those fighting as morsels, ripe for the taking. It was a torture for her as she attempted to push through the arena, but something seemed to get in her way somehow. Some force prevented her from leaving, the force of pure hunger for those souls around her. Xirphi felt her lower jaw snap in half and her three tongues began to show themselves as her thoughts began to focus on purely that.

It was a hard battle in her mind, but she needed to move forward otherwise she might stay in the blaster arena forever and attempt to devour everything in sight. Plus, she was in a more weakened state given that she was hungry and hasn’t eaten a soul in a while. Xirphi turned away from the battle and noticed people leaving the arena, going to a nearby ravine. Of course allowing prey to leave was just terrible, thus she followed to find that, yes, it was a ravine, but not just any ravine, a ravine with many a scorpions.

Her aura began to flare up, uncontrolled hunger began to show itself and she charged head first at the scorpion menace. Xirphi began to spit acid into one’s face before turning to another and allowing her tongues to go to work, stabbing the scorpion through its eyes before viciously ripping out its soul and bringing it back to the host demon. The soul wasn’t delicious, nor innately powerful, but it was a good snack. Yet, snacks were not enough as it only provoked her hunger more.

”I hunger!” Xirphi roared, the four foot demon pouncing from scorpion to scorpion, ripping out their souls and spitting acid everywhere. Her aura caused some to even begin attacking each other, acting out cannibalism as they felt a hunger never before felt. Such was life for the demon.
