I think the mafia probably ignores it too. There was this one situation where I had to pretend to be this mafia boss' wife for an awards taping and it was one of the most awkward days of my life.

There was this really fun party in the penthouse suite of some skyscraper. We were all hanging out and having a good time when suddenly the host dropped dead. This guy had some kind of tie to the local mafia so instead of calling the cops, we all got to play whodunit for a few hours. That was fun.
