Paradise 'Par' Rapids - Diver's Paradise

I shouldn't judge a book by their covers, thought Par as he was grudgingly - very grudgingly - impressed by the enemy. He strapped his sniper rifle to his back and drew out his two Mana Pistols for close quarters combat. But the effectiveness of that would not be tested, because Jenso had just created a smokescreen in order to switch opponents!

With a smile, Par used the smoke created by Jenso's fireballs in order to run towards the rock the Martial Artist had hidden behind, managing to slip behind it just as Jenso reached the heavy guy. Then, if the thin swordsman was still there, Par would shoot from behind his position with his Mana Pistols, shooting bolts/bullets of pure Mana at the little weasel. After his first salvo was done, he would say:

"Don't bring a sword to a gunfight."

A contingency: Should the swordsman turn out to have survived and/or have countermeasures against his shots, Par would strap some of his Magical Plastic Explosives to his rock, fast-crawl to another large stone, and then detonate the rock, hopefully sending out shrapnel and creating another smokescreen to obscure the crossbowman's fire. Again, this was only a contingency should his first shots have no effect.

1) Exactly what stress caused him to get these powers?
2) Repair and healing could be the same power if you can think of a way that he could "need" the power and one expanded to become the other. They shouldn't be instant repairs, though. Maybe a time based on damage, and it gets more powerful as you go?
3) Transmutation is OP, but because powers start small and grow stronger I might allow it if you place limits on it that make it weak in the beginning. Ex: It becomes something similar, like a block of wood becoming a wooden object. You could also go the "Full metal alchemist" wrought and make all of them different forms of transmutation.

2.) I was originally planning on blending Repair and Healing, but I thought it would be OP. I also wanted to include a time requirement based on damage, but I became lazy.

Powers:

Renovation and Restoration - Alexander touches a broken machine or tool, or a wounded person, and, with time and energy, can repair/heal them by reverting their bodies to a previous state. However, the more severe the damage, the more time is needed to heal and repair it.

Durability and Softness - Alexander can harden or soften matter that he touches; he can turn his clothes hard enough to stop bullets, and knifes as soft as Styrofoam.

Revelation - Alexander can sense other people with powers and know what said powers are.

Personality: Alexander seeks to be the Hope in the Grim Darkness, but lacks the persistence to be truly that. Thus, he mostly counts on his raw power and apperance of strength to get people to see things his way, which is a flaw. He also tends to try to be too many things at the same time; fighter, healer, planner, and morale raiser, to the point where he fails to master one specialty due to dabbling in all.

But beneath it all, he's a kind person who genuinely tries to change, a kind person who sincerely tries to help others.

Bio: Alexander Sky was born with an ordinary life, as an ordinary kid, and he wanted to escape that. He wanted to be the light in a world that was troubled, to be a source of hope for a world that was suffering, and that led him to be a self-rightheous goody-two-shoes who skated by on raw talent, which did not always come through for him. He made many friends, both online and offline, but also lost some of them due to his self-righteousness and tendency to be full of himself.

Then came the infection; the Martian Virus had come to his hometown, and he lost more friends to the disease, before falling prey to the sickness himself. When he came to, he discovered something strange about himself, strange powers over matter and life that he never had before. He now had the ability to be the Hope for people that he always wanted to be...but it came at great cost.

For the trauma that caused his powers to manifest was survivors' guilt over his friends' deaths.

Equipment: Identical to Kyle's; Clothes, backpack, a few thousand dollars (20+ years of inflation), Cell phone.

There is also a laptop and two pistols (he just got his firearms license).
