Noble Arms is now either four years old, or three years and eleven months. The third thread had lasted for more than one year.

My Roleplay, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, will reach its 4th year in June or July. It's been a long journey.

Despite its massive flaws, my RP, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, is still one of the longest ongoing RPs in RPGuild - It turns 4 years old in July and the current thread itself is more than a year old.

Name: Barbara Bixby

Age: 24

Race: Caucasian

Sex: Female

Skills: Barbara is skilled in medicine, able to put people back together if need be. However, just because she is a medic doesn't mean she cannot survive in the wilds, nor does it mean she cannot defend herself. For in her past, Barbara wielded both gun and machete, and even crude swords as well as a flamethrower. And, as befitting a female Episcopalian Priest, Barbara knows Theology and the Bible, as well as Progressive interpretations of it that stress taking care of the poor and downtrodden - aka most people - instead of peeking into people's sexual lives and interfering with them.

Oh, and she can also sing psalms and hymnals.

Personality: Barbara is kind, caring, but most of all, haunted by her past of war and murder and wants to leave it behind. Although she intellectually realizes that she did not have a choice for most of it all, she has a choice now, and she plans on choosing right this time. But at the same time, she realizes that it's going to be so hard; what if someone asks her to choose between saving many lives at the cost of one? These are ethical dillemas that Theology has not solved for her. All she knows is, she can be better than she is now; Humanity can be better than what they are right now, one person at a time...

Weapons & armor/clothing:

-Light leather armor with a bulletproof vest underneath.
-Semi-Automatic Pistol.
-Machete.
-Submachine Gun.
- Barbara also has her light armor painted over with a cross, and has a golden crucifix necklace.

(Previous) Occupation(s): Ex-Raider, now Episcopalian Priest.

Faction (Minutemen, Institute, BOS, Railroad, None. Etc): None.

Backstory: Barbara was born to a group of Raiders, but aside from that, her childhood was not that unusual. She fought, she raided, she murdered, and she did not question why. But one day, her band crossed the Brotherhood by attempting to raid an outpost while drunk, and the Brotherhood hunted them down. And so, Barbara saw her family and friends die, and she only barely escaped, injured, by jumping into a river and swimming to safety.

Safety was foung in a small town, with a small chapel, that still adhered to Episcopalian ways. The townsfolk wanted to execute her, but the Priest, a kind old man, took pity on her. And so, Barbara began her second life as her first one turned to ashes. She spent three years being taught how to read, how to write and do sums, and finally, the word of the Lord.

When she finally went back to the wider Wasteland, it was as a changed woman, one who wanted to make up for the sins of the past and make good what she had done. And if God smiled on her, she would do it.
Sorry about this, but I don't think I'll find the RP fun.
Name: The Halifax Parliament/Thassalocracy of the Maritimes.

Flag (picture or description):

Territory (picture or description) and Geography: The Maritimes

History (if using a pre-existing faction, recent history will due):

Bitter memories remain of the US Occupation of Canada, with Halifax being a centre of the Canadian Resistance. Although the city was destroyed by the nuclear war that ended the United States, the region was otherwise spared the ravages of fallout and FEV. And so, Halifax was reclaimed earlier than other cities, even Boston, by an expedition of Ghouls, some of whom were remnants of the former US and Canadian armies. As the radiation cleared, normal humans began to join them, and Halifax City began to prosper again.

In time, Nova Scotia was reunified under the Halifax Parliament, which declared this: That never again would the Canadians be subject to a foriegn power, not as long as Halifax held naval superiority over other nations. And so, renewed focus was given to the sea, with increasingly sophisticated boats and ships sailing out for fishing, trade, and the occassional counter-raid. Diplomacy and politics were also used to gain control of the rest of the Maritime Provinces, forging a new nation that furthered the interests of trade and naval power.

As the traders of Nova Scotia spread southwards, they forged an unlikely friendship with the Minutemen of the Commonwealth, which despite its 'American' roots was the most amenable to trade and peaceful coexistence. In time, this would serve the Minutemen well in the aftermath of the Commonwealth War, as the Halifax standing fleet, composed of three 'Ships of the Line' whose wooden hulls were equipped with modern cannons, accompanied by six sloops fitted with anti-air and anti-personnel missile systems, and supported by a dozen converted merchant ships, went down to Boston itself, and landed 500 Halifax 'Redcoats' to support the Minutemen against the Institute.

Needless to say, the cooperation of troops modeled after different sides of the American Revolution was an irony that was not lost by the Institute as the allied forces began waging serious war against the den of pretentious scientists.

Now, the Second Commonwealth War is going well...and Halifax is poised to establish itself, alongside its Minutemen 'allies', as the prime power in the Eastern Seaboard...

Population (The NCR, being rather prosperous, is 1 million. This is the max population for now): 13,000

Government/Domestic Politics:

Halifax is ruled by a Parliament whose representatives are elected by each 'shire' or 'county'. The Parliament is led by a Prime Minister, Joseph Macken, who is part of the Thassalocratic Party that has ruled Halifax Politics for decades. Joseph is a kind, quiet man who is nevertheless forceful and assertive when he needs to be, a needed asset. For Parlimentary politics are necessarily raucous, and one has to be able to restore order at times. Either way, the prime party of Halifax - some might even say the sole part - is the Thassalocratic Party, which is divided into conservative and liberal factions who are divided on the best way to preserve Halifax's control of the seas. The conservative wing favors keeping to 'splendid isolation' from the politics of the former United States, and instead building up a larger fleet that can keep out 'Those Damn Yankees'.

The liberals, meanwhile, wanted a smaller, but more technologically-advanced flotilla and increased ties with the Minutemen 'in the interests of trade'. As said trade is filling Halifax's treasury, it is their voices that have acheived prominence, for now. And their voices have called for the creation of an Ironclad, one that would propel Halifax into heights of naval domination unseen since the Old British Empire...

Notable People:

Joseph Macken - Prime Minister of Halifax; Political Moderate. Also a Ghoul.

Alistair Kidd - Lord High Admiral of Halifax, conservative opposed to the 'Ironclad Project', seeing it as a waste of money and resources.

Engineer Lisa Wendell - Head of the Halifax Science Bureau, Lisa is also the lead designer of the Ironclad Project.

Military (try to be somewhat realistic):

The Halifax Military is almost centered solely upon its 'Grand Fleet', with most Infantry being classed as 'Marines'. Said Grand Fleet numbers:

- 3 Ships of the Line, which, despite being built with wood and run by sails, are equipped with salvaged Pre-War Artillery, which allow them to pack a larger punch than their antiquated builds might suggest.
- 6 Missile Sloops, equipped with anti-air and anti-personnel missile defenses.
- 12 Converted Merchant Ships, which act as either support or transport.

One Ironclad is also being built over a period of three years.

The Marines of Halifax number 1,300 in number.

Economy: The Halifax Economy is built around fishing, timber, and mining, as well as the fur trade in mutated beavers and minks. Trade with the south is becoming more common, and domestic manufacturing is increasing to meet the demand.

Culture and Technology (include views towards slavery and mutants):

- Canadian, with a strong focus on the sea and pride in their maritime traditions.
- Generally pro-mutant and anti-slavery.
- Technology is not the most advanced, but military weapons, armor, and artillery are just as advanced as what is found in the Commonwealth.
- Civilian Tech varies; mostly 1700s or 1800s-level, but more advanced technology like Stimpacks are becoming more common.

Religion:

- Mix of Christian and Secular.
Yeah sure, mind if I refine a few bits on my characters?

Not really.
Name: The Republican Empire of Troy

Capital is Troy, New York

History: Due to its relative unimportance to New York City, the ruins of Troy managed to avoid the worst of the apocalypse long enough for a ragged band of survivors to find shelter and some plots of enclosed but fertile land. This was an unlikely seed for a new society, but a seed nonetheless. Overlooked by raiders and warlord states, the settlers of Troy grew into a relatively egalitarian society, trading what ancient relics they can find, growing food, and, when the natural defenses of the city were not enough, forming a militia for the defense of the community.

Roderick Grey was one of the militia leaders, one who sought not just defense, but knowledge. From passing androids to priests and soothsayers, as well as the occassional trader, Roderic learned that the world was larger than himself and Troy. The young man also learned of the concept of wealth and conquest and realized that the fertile land of the city, as well as the culture of community that made his militia strong, had potential. And so he, emboldened by this knowledge, acquired what weapons he can, hoarded what relics of the ancient world he can find, and led scavenger and raiding parties out, to increase his troops' knowledge of offensive conflict.

He then turned his attention to farming and trade, as well as attracting wise men from all over the land in order to cover his mental weak spots.

And so, in a series of wars, strategic marriages, and bribes, Roderick slowly expanded his Republic, taking large tracts of territory that once secure, were put to the plow. But he was careful to leave provisions for a succession; precedent for a democracy had already been established by his creation of a Senate and a 'House of Representatives', and in order to make sure that his successors did not lead the nation to ruin after his death, he adbicated early, allowing elections to be held among the people who had grown strong and powerful in his administration. After his adbication, Roderick became an elder statesman who supported three freely-elected Presidents until he died of natural causes, revered and loved by all.

Then the Republic took a darker turn. As the territory grew and resistance stiffened among the neighboring tribes and nations, there was also a need for labor in the mines and workshops of the north and the farms and plantations of the south. So the Republican Empire, after much debate, restored Indentured Servitude for criminals and prisoners of war, a system that soon became Slavery by another name.

This led to a period of prosperity and expansion for the Empire, but this prosperity stopped being evenly spread after a while, as a small class of aristocrats began hoarding power and money for themselves. In response, the smallholding farmers who had staffed the Republican-Imperial Army in the past, and who were now threatened by the aristocrats' attempts to reduce them to serfs, threw their weight behind the more humanist elements of society and their sympathizers, creating a fault line in the Republic. Both sides used what they knew of ancient history as a precedent for their actions, and civil war loomed over the horizon. Then, the Republican Empire was contacted by other nations; multiple other nations that were their equals or even betters.

The reaction was Panic. A panic that the Republican Empire was no longer top dog, and that getting taken over by another country was a possibility, especially if the Republic descended into civil war. And so, unity was restored, albeit shakily., so that the Empire can face the other nations. Will it find opportunity or destruction?
