Current Map

Rules Gowi Mostly Wrote

I. The most important thing is to respect and follow the rules of our host site, which is no question. The themes are undoubtedly mature but we need to understand what we can and cannot write blatantly. If there’s sexual content there is always “fade to black”, if it is a particularly dark and questionable scene it can be referenced or hinted at instead of shown. I'm not impressed by your torture porn scenes.

II. Respect fellow role-players. This is a collaborative project in nature so we shan’t dismiss or patronize those we should be working together with. Lighthearted humor is fine but remember not to insult outright or start flame-wars; generally you know the drill so don’t be a dick and things should be kosher. Remember, there's another ugly guy behind that screen too.

III. Don't make shitty characters. This is a big one. If you only have enough juice to write one interesting character, then write one. If you can write two, do two. Just don't have five daughters and six knighted sons for the maximum number of marriages and fight scenes.

IV. This is a role-play of interaction, character development, and story progression. While yes, as rulers we have militaries and soldiers we should remember the sole purpose is not to do so. Interaction should be diverse and dick-measuring contest should be absent or at least kept to a minimum.

V. You accept the responsibility that you can post every ten to fifteen days once. If you are taking a leave of absence you will be required to inform me.

Nation Name

Flag goes here. I'd prefer something you made in MSpaint to something you made with the GOT Banner generator. The world is universally in the medieval/renaissance era, so don't come at me with that contemporary-ass detailed seal bullshit neither.

Map

Choose a color and draw your borders on the map, preferably colors matching your flag so it doesn't get too confusing. Go ahead and use a zoomed in picture too, because once we all start posting on the CS tab, roleplayerguild might shit itself while trying to load a bunch of bigass high res maps. This section should include geography, weather, flora and fauna of your nation, as well as include the capital. Your geography should match your location on the map in relation to the equator and your distance from the sea. It bears mentioning that unnatural creatures like dire beasts and the like are allowed, though I will be picky about what can be tamed.

History

This should be more generally informative of the country's past and how it has affected their culture than a list of dead kings and globally inconsequential events. I encourage players to collaborate and create shared history.

Culture

Hoo boy. This section should be the largest, and cover as many facets of their culture you can think of. I don't just wanna know their clothes and religion, I want to know what their food is like, how other countries view them, what their view of death is, and so on. Do they use beds or rollout futons to conserve space? Do they bathe normally, or is regularly being submerged in water considered unhealthy? Are there foods associated with a holiday? Do they duel over honor or legal matters? You get the picture.

Military

Aside from the general "They have a lot of foot soldiers, a few mounted soldiers, and some archers" tell me how their military is different than any other military, and do it without listing any numbers. Do they ride something besides horses or sail something besides galleys? Do they make use of psychological, biological, or economic warfare? Do they take prisoners? Things like that. If this section includes some bullshit special group of a hundred that uses two swords because they went to sword college or something like that, see yourself to the door.

Economy

In the simplest terms, what do you import and export? Do you make a lot of things, or just one thing? Is your country in debt to another? Geography and culture will play a role here. Also, no country is self sufficient.

Relations

Don't just give me your trade relations you god damn minmaxer. Tell me what your peoples get called by racists, what your country's relation to the rest of the world is, what the popular image of your country is as a whole, etc.
That, and y'know, those trade relations.

House Specialty

If you were waiting for a section to put a weirdly specific strength, this is it. Houses can have military traditions and thus focus on making their heirs study tactics, or have artistic traditions, or have their strength not be related to a tradition at all. Maybe they have a really cool boat. Maybe they breed weird animals. Anyway, feel free to lean on the fantasy tagline here a little and use your imagination.

By multicontinental, I didn't mean having islands across a channel, I meant going across the continents. There are no multicontinental nations because there are only two continents. There seems to be some confusion so let me reiterate these points.

• This world, like many others, has boats. They can be used to take you places like a horse does, but on water. Cool, right?

• The boats cannot, however, take you around the world so quickly that you can have territories around the world. I would say sorry, but Monkeypants seems pretty okay with that.

• You can get from one continent to the next. The easiest way is from the maroon land to the olive land. The second easiest is from the tan land to the moss green. That is because the distance is the shortest.

Also, I shrank your claim so I could add to the moss green nation's port. I'll fix it when I get home.

I wanted to get rid of as much of the unclaimed land as possible. If you'd prefer to keep your dudes as a relatively simple people, have their main cities/villages where you wanted them originally, and the rest of their land is "peasants" who don't pay taxes or necessarily identify with your culture, but still know/fear/obey your rulership.
