Happy Man of Steel Monday to those who celebrate.
“They’re so desperate to regain Rao’s favour, they’ll strip the planet bare just to seek out a yellow star.”

The man grumbled angrily, watching from the train’s windows while the enas-traeno hovered above the magnetic rail, guiding it to the city of Kandor. Behind the suspended beam lay barren fields that had once been the abundant plains of Wanan. In years past, the plains were home to bountiful crops produced by the Labour Guild; Mayzea, Tritikem and Oryza for all of Krypton were grown in the vastness of Wanan.

Or at least, they had been before the Council’s new directive.

Crops had been forgotten in search of precious minerals. Minerals for building ships, the harvesting of which left the fields usable for anything else. Waban was ruined, its fields upturned and stripped, leaving it void of nutrition. Pollinators in the area had moved on in search of food elsewhere, leaving the entirety of Kandor surrounded by only the carcass of a once-thriving agricultural sector.

Krypton was a small planet located in the furthest reaches of the Andromeda Galaxy, orbiting the star known as Rao in the system of the same name. Under the guidance and practices of the Religious Guild, the people of Krypton worshipped the star as the incarnation of their chief deity, from whom the star had been named. An isolationist people, the Kryptonians had primarily kept to themselves, their advancement halted and tossed back into the Dark Ages when Rao went from a Yellow Star to a Red Giant nearly a millennium ago.

Once a proud race of explorers and warriors, without the gifts of Rao, they had fumbled about in the dark for centuries, rebuilding their societies and devolving from a planet of free men and free women to a caste system where artificially grown children are placed into one of the five major Guilds alongside their parents.

In the last decade, Krypton had re-established contact with its neighbouring planets, Daxam and Dheronian. Both of whom, at one point in history, lived under the oppressive regime of Ancient Krypton. Both of whom had since lashed out against the planet and launched interplanetary armaments against the planet, adding fuel to the Council’s fire and accelerating their fleet of warships.

Argo City had an entire quarter decimated by the attack. Radiation leaked through the surviving city, forcing those remaining to evacuate to safety elsewhere. The train into Kandor was overflowing with survivors, while others were on their way to appeal to the council, much like the man and his wife.

“Jor,” The woman beside the man suddenly interrupted, “You’re grinding your teeth again.”

Jor-El smiled. If there was anyone who could pull him back from being a hundred stadia away, it was his Lara. He turned his face away from the window, closing his eyes to the burning fields before focusing on the gleaming red tower in the distance.

Not just any red tower, but the Red Tower, constructed of the purest sunstone and the heart of Xan City, the planet’s capital or Kryptonopolis, as it was commonly referred. It was where his and Lara’s home lay, but today they had business in Kandor. While it wasn’t a long journey, the distance between Kandor and Xan was nearly a stage and a half, or about two hundred stadia.

The traeno slowed as it approached the platform. The hiss of the air brakes deployed echoed around the cabin as the dull thud of the flaps expanding could be heard through the roof. The smell of Kandor’s numerous food vendors washed over Jor-El and Lara the minute they set foot onto the platform. Music echoed down the streets as people tried to spread joy instead of fear while the looming threat of war hung over the heads of every Kryptonian.

What was alluring aromas of delicious dromos kreas roasting on spits over open flame crystals for Jor-El was having the opposite effect on Lara as wave after wave of nausea washed over her, threatening to up heave the contents of her stomach.

“We’ll move quickly to the higher level, my love,” Jor-El smiled, taking his wife’s hand and guiding her to a nearby lift, but not without taking one last look at the sizzling kreas, the nearest made of his favourite rondorian cut. The smell of the caramelized fat rendering on the grill sent the smoky smell of the tallow-roasted treat towards his nose.

He resolved to ensure he picked up a snack for the way home.

Compared to the sprawling city of Xan, Kandor felt very vertical, with layer upon layer emphasizing the city’s caste system. While Xan might have been the planet’s official capital, Kandor was the fastest-growing city on the globe and rapidly outpaced Kryptonopolis in population.

Once they had arrived at the Military Guild Levels, it didn’t take long for Jor-El and Lara to locate the barracks they were looking for. Pausing outside the gilded metal door, Jor-El pressed the ringer, waiting a few seconds before footsteps laden with heavy boots could be heard on the other side.

“Jor! Lara!” General Dru-Zod exclaimed happily at seeing the pair outside the door before pausing in confusion, as he glanced down at Lara and the bump protruding from her stomach. “My, you have been eating well.*

“Dru, I do hope your tact in battle more than compensates for your lack in decorum.” Lara retorted with a chiding smile, “I am with child.”

“Ah, your names came up next on the Council’s list, then? Odd, I’ve never known the stress of being a parent to make any other woman fat-”

“No, Dru,” Jor-El interjected, “Lara is pregnant, with our son.”

“How can this be? I thought that was impossible. Childbirth is barbaric, is it not? What about the caste system?”

*Jor,” Lara replied, tears of joy welling in the corners of her eyes, “Jor found a way to cure the genophage. A fossilized Kryptonian down deep within the mines, its essence perfectly preserved, our son will not be like us; he’ll be like our ancestors.”

“He will be the first Kryptonian since the Crusades to be born of a woman and not a vessel. All of our hopes and dreams ride on him.”

“And what name have you come up with for this blessed miracle?” Zod asked.

“His name will be Kal, it means-” Lara began to answer before Zod finished her sentence.

“Rao with Us.”

“Banana bread at work? Hell yeah, dude.”

Jimmy Olsen’s voice echoed over the Daily Planet bullpen as he paraded over to his cubicle, plate laden with a thick slice of the aforementioned banana bread. A dollop of butter had been carefully spread edge to edge before being just warmed enough to soak into the pastry prior to consuming.

The young stringer excitedly settled back into his chair, taking a selfie with the delicious-looking snack while narrating his caption aloud to himself.

“Hell yeah, dude.”

From across the bullpen, Lois watched Jimmy’s antics with a roll of her eyes. He took a large bite of the banana bread before washing it down with a swig of an energy drink that had been on his desk since yesterday.

The only reason it made it to today was that he had demolished the rest of the four-pack yesterday. It was a miracle the young man’s heart didn’t burst out of his chest.

“Considering your coffee is at least eighty percent sugar, I’m not sure you’ve got a leg to stand on, Miss Lane.” A warm voice filled the air, sending a shiver down Lois’ spine as she ran her tongue against her teeth, sticking it into her cheek before turning around and looking up into the man’s piercing blue eyes.

They twinkled back at her, smiling with naivety and hope that wasn’t often found in Metropolis. Even with a slight hunch to his posture, Clark Kent, the Daily Planet’s newest stringer, still stood a head taller than Lois.

“Smallville, I know you made that banana bread.” Lois retorted, “How? No one around her uses real butter. And I know the smell of real butter.”

“That’s very observant of you, Miss Lane.”

“We’ve been over this; it’s Lois.”

“And I don’t bake.” Clark smiled innocently as Lois let out an exasperated noise.

“At the very least, you brought it from home.” She accused Clark again.

“Lois, it’s Wednesday.”

“Yeah, so?”

“You’re suggesting that after I left work last night at six, that I took a train, or a car, all the way home to Kansas, to pick up banana bread, just for Jimmy?”

“Well, it sounds ridiculous when you put it like that.” Lois muttered, “But I didn’t hear you say ‘no’!” She snapped, pointing a pencil covered in teeth marks towards Clark.

“No, Lois, no, I did not drive to Smallville last night to get banana bread for Jimmy.”

Clark felt his phone vibrate suddenly, flipping it over to see a message from his younger sister.

| Mom wants to know if Jimmy liked the banana bread.

Clark smiled at Jessi’s message, carefully typing a response as Jimmy passed between himself and Lois with a second plate.

| He didn’t like it. He loved it.

Clark replied, hitting send.

“I’m going to bust you, Smallville, and when I do, there will be hell to pay,” Lois warned, leaning over the desk. She paused, his cologne wafting towards her as she suddenly found herself contemplating how good Clark Kent smelled.

“Hell,” Lois stuttered, “Hell to pay!” She called again before turning her sights to the nearest television. Breaking news flashed across the screen as a fire had engulfed a bank in midtown. She turned around, opening her mouth to call for Jimmy and Clark, only to realize she had been too slow.

Clark was already gone.

The Infinitum Treaty is signed. All of Earth's Pantheons of Gods agree not to directly meddle in the affairs of Mortals.

The first metahuman, The Sub-Mariner, is reported to exist on the front page of The Daily Star. The public is equally alarmed and intrigued, with more individuals with strange abilities emerging soon after.

With the threat of the Axis Powers on the rise in Europe, the machinations of HYDRA are first discovered by U.S. Intelligence. As Hitler amasses military power, Johann Schmidt seeks the Spear of Destiny to achieve world domination.

President Roosevelt is briefed on Operation Invader, recruiting American citizens with gifts beyond those of mortal men to battle HYDRA in the name of world peace. The Flash and Sentinel are the first two approached, while the military drafts Project: Rebirth as an alternative. Steve Rogers' transformation into Captain America is the only result of the project.

The Invaders, made up of Captain America, Bucky, The Flash, Human Torch, Sentinel, Namor, Wildcat, and Doctor Fate, drive Hitler's forces to enough of a standstill to allow Allied intervention. Hitler commits suicide and the Nazis surrender, ending the war. HYDRA attempts a final solution of their own, resulting in Schmidt's disappearance and the presumed deaths of Captain America and Bucky.

After disbandment following the war, the heroes Flash, Wildcat, and Sentinel reassemble the Invaders' remnants to train recruits in New York City. The Justice Society of America is founded in honor of Steve Rogers.

A meteor shower above Smallville, Kansas, covers the crash of an alien spacecraft, leading to the adoption of Kal-El by Jonathan and Martha Kent.

Billionaire scion Oliver Queen returns to civilization to little fanfare after one year on a remote island. Green Arrow debuts in Star City.

The Sin-Cong War breaks out with the United States of America invading the People's Republic of Sin-Cong, officially to free the country from a tyrannical government but in reality to lay claim to the country's mysterious energy source known as the "Dragon Breath".

Oliver Queen takes in the young Roy Harper as a favor to Roy’s grandfather, Big Bow.

Green Arrow’s kid partner, Speedy, debuts.

Oliver Queen loses his wealth after a prolonged legal battle with Queen Industries’ board that strips him of his position within the company.

Marc Spector enlists in the Marine Corps and serves a tour in Sin-Cong, eventually getting dishonorably discharged and becoming a mercenary.

Oliver Queen is charged with treason in a terrorist attack on a U.S. Navy ship, accused of collaborating with Sin-Cong forces. His already tenuously-secret identity is plastered all over the worldwide news cycle as Green Arrow is branded a traitor. In the ensuing manhunt, he discovers he’s a patsy in a S.H.I.E.L.D. plot to maintain American presence in Sin-Cong. Before he can clear his name, the U.S. government exonerates him in a statement that blames the plot on “rogue actors”.

Marc Spector meets Jean-Paul "Frenchie" DuChamp and Layla El-Faouly, two fellow mercenaries who he teams up with to become the "Karnak Cowboys".

Oliver Queen meets Connor Hawke while staying at a zen monastery in Nappa Valley, eventually learning that Connor is his biological son. Months later, Ollie sacrifices himself to stop an ecofascist terror attack. Connor becomes Green Arrow in his stead.

Billionaire Bruce Wayne returns to Gotham City after ten years abroad.

Layla El-Faouly is killed and Marc Spector falls into a depression that leads to him working with Raoul Bushman, a ruthless mercenary. The two of them alongside Jean-Paul DuChamp raid an archaeological dig site on the Sudanese-Egyptian border. Bushman kills the dig crew's lead Dr. Peter Alraune and captures his daughter Marlene. Marc attempts to intervene but is in turn beaten half to death by Bushman who leaves him to die. Marc dies in the tomb under a statue of Khonshu and is resurrected by the god as his Fist of Vengeance. Marc returns to America with Frenchie and Marlene and operates in New York City as the vigilante Moon Knight.

Oliver Queen returns to life under mysterious circumstances. He meets Mia Dearden, a young survivor of human trafficking, and takes her under his wing. Star City becomes home to two Green Arrows after Ollie and Connor reunite.

Reports file in from Gotham City of illegal activities being thwarted by a mysterious creature, Sergeant James Gordon is assigned to investigate.

With no warning, thunderstorms with no rain appear all over the world. Confusing meteorologists, who still struggle to explain the phenomenon.

Clark Kent leaves Earth to discover more about his origins

Mia Dearden debuts as the second Speedy with Roy Harper’s blessing.

Moon Knight has his final encounter with his nemesis Raoul Bushman that results in the vigilante, who was badly wounded in the fight, killing Bushman by cutting off his face. Moon Knight disappears from the public eye after this event.

The Blur returns to Metropolis, becoming known as Superman, fighting the alien bounty hunter, Lobo, above the city sky.

Marc Spector resurfaces in Hub City as Mister Knight, opening the Midnight Mission.

An alien dispatched to Earth under unknown circumstances, Clark Kent arrived in Smallville, Kansas, intertwined in a radioactive meteor shower that razed most of the farming community. Discovered by a local couple, Clark was raised by his loving adoptive parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent from a young boy to a young man.

While the circumstances of his adoption were a closely guarded secret, they were not the only signs that Clark was different from a normal boy. From a young age, he showed strength far exceeding his size and speed that actually made it impossible to watch the mischievous toddler without him literally disappearing in the blink of an eye. At the age of sixteen, when Clark experienced his first kiss, he found himself on cloud nine, and not figuratively, as he discovered his ability to fly.

With these extraordinary abilities came responsibility, and Jonathan and Martha both worked hard to instill that into Clark. That responsibility kicked in when mysterious happenings around Smallville began to be linked to radiation from the meteors fifteen years earlier. People were waking up with strange abilities and lacking the same guidance the Kents had bestowed upon their adoptive son. Realizing the link between the meteors and these ability-endowed people, Clark took it upon himself to stop them and became something of a local, though incognito, vigilante.

When Clark was fourteen, he crossed paths with an orphaned young boy by the name of Ryan, who like Clark possessed a hidden ability. It was eventually decided that the Kents would take Ryan in and so Clark gained an adoptive brother. A year later, the Kents were surprised with another blessing as Martha became pregnant, giving birth nine months later to a healthy baby girl, Jessica Sarah Kent.

As Clark reached graduation, the weight of his secret and the lack of knowing where he came from gave him decision paralysis regarding where to move onto next in life. A lengthy discussion with his parents eventually gave way to a gap year and eventually, a move where he relocated to Metropolis, achieving a degree in journalism alongside his best friend, Chloe Sullivan. Like his time in Smallville, Metropolis was filled with encounters with the strange and bizarre, where Clark became known as an urban protector by the moniker 'The Blur'. But Clark struggled to hold down any job after university, the burden of his abilities always calling him to help where he could. Confused about his place in the world, Clark turned his sights towards the stars, determined to discover where he came from and why he was sent to Earth.

Two year later, Clark returned from the stars, re-establishing himself in Metropolis before being subbed 'Superman' by the Daily Planet. Finding himself a job with the media conglomerate, Clark began to blend back into life on Earth with a renewed sense of purpose and better grasp on his identity.

This is a version of Clark that I've never seen told before. A younger iteration, this is a Clark fresh out of Smallville, but where other versions knew they were Kryptonian, or at the very least had the ship to guide them or the crystal to make the Fortress of Solitude, this Clark was found among the wreckage by Jonathan and Martha, but no truth to his actual heritage has ever been known.

As such, my story picks up with Clark taking to the stars to figure out who he is. He has a basic grasp on his abilities, and he's done some heroic stuff, earning his local alter ego a place on Chloe's Wall of Weird under the moniker 'the Blur, ' but he's not Superman. He still has a lot to learn both about how to control his abilities and the extent of them. To do so, and to find out who he is and where he came from, Clark is taking to the stars, where I'll explore the themes of the Last Son of Krypton learning about who he is through the eyes and experiences of the galaxy before he ultimately discovers the fate of Krypton and his purpose on Earth.

A brief synopsis of your character's life, experiences and training before the RP begins. This is where you outline your vision for the character including any notable changes or differences from the regularly accepted canon. This should be a short summary that provides insight into where the character is in terms of their overall progress and development. You could also include any notable differences from the standard canon you've added to your character.

Why do you want to play this character, what is the driving motivation behind both this desire and the character themselves. What do you hope to accomplish and where do you want the character's story/stories to go? For a driving character, there should be enough of an outline present to interest other players along with specifications towards how many players you're looking to involve or available roles. For supporting characters, this should indicate either a plot you've arranged to be part of or the type of plot you're looking to be involved in. Roaming characters have the privilege of doing either or simply stating a roadmap for the character to exemplify how you'd ideally like them to move between plots.

"Witty Quote #2"___
P R E M I S E:
P R E M I S E:
Absolute Comics Odyssey is a collaborative linear sandbox roleplay that uses the ideas presented in Marvel and DC Comics' various media to create new and exciting stories using familiar elements and characters. To those of you asking exactly what a collaborative linear sandbox is, I define this style of game as a compilation of linear stories written by multiple groups of people that interact and mesh to create one persistent game within the same sandbox. If that's as clear as mud for you, let me try to clean it up.

In-game history is decided on a first-come, first-served basis. However, it should not be designed in a manner that locks out another player from taking on a favourite role. To give an example, if a player applies as Dick Grayson before an application has been received for Bruce Wayne, then the player applying as Grayson can decide to portray Dick as Robin, Nightwing or even Batman. No matter which of these roles the Grayson player chooses, it has an effect on a future Bruce Wayne player.

Due to the inclusive nature of the roleplay, a Bruce Wayne player would have to craft their CS to reflect a Bruce who allows for opportunities for a Grayson player or other notable members of the Bat-family. For instance, if the Grayson player chooses to be Nightwing, then the Bruce Wayne player will need to portray an older Batman. Even if a ‘Dick-Bats’ could block a player from playing Bruce Wayne as Batman, it shouldn’t necessarily block Bruce Wayne as a character. If so desired by both parties, a Batman Inc.-like scenario could even be worked out. It should also be noted that villains are viable as player characters, and applying for Captain America does not mean another player can't join as Red Skull, pending some agreement between both players.

It is important to remember that interaction, much like any role-play, is the foundation of the game. To that end, players are encouraged to work together to create a mutually desired outcome for all those involved. Classic team-ups such as Batman and Robin or Wolverine and Hawkeye are always welcome, but don't forget, this is a One Universe RP where the Devil of Hell's Kitchen can work alongside Gotham's Dark Knight.

S O U R C E M A T E R I A L:
S O U R C E M A T E R I A L:
As previously mentioned, this roleplay allows players to draw upon characters from not only just the DC and Marvel Universes, but also other characters may be considered on a case-by-case basis if they fit the tone and feel of the game. Priority, however, will be given to characters who originate from within either DC or Marvel Comics and their subsidiaries.

Your character concept can be based on any iteration of the character. In terms of career, try to keep the greater goal of the game in mind, and characters with legacies ideally should be further along in their careers to allow for the inclusivity of other players. That said, please don't let this lead you to believe origin stories have no place here. Origins can be told conventionally, with the assistance of other players or through flashbacks and other framing devices.

Regarding what any iteration of the character means for you as a player, is that this world's Spider-Man could currently be Miles Morales, Iron Man could be replaced by Iron Heart, and Batman could be Terry McGinnis. This also means that some heroes might just be starting, perhaps the Teen Titans were just formed? Maybe Scott Summers just found out he was a mutant? The changes and possibilities are near endless, but are sure to create a unique world for us to tell our own takes on these 'modern myths'.

G A M E P L A Y:
G A M E P L A Y:
COMIC BOOK TIME & GHOST WRITING:
Sometimes, as a writer, you're tied up in your own plot, but another pops up that you'd like your character to be part of. As a comic book game, posts in the IC thread do not necessarily need to be linear. If you, as Player A, are running a plot but Player B is doing a Cross-Over with a team your character is affiliated with, you can write both simultaneously.

Likewise, characters appear in numerous issues each month, written by several different authors. In Odyssey, we're also inviting you to use that to your advantage. If you're particularly fond of someone's interpretation of a character and would like to use them in a spot for a Chapter, you may approach the controlling player and ask to do so. That player is allowed to deny you flat-out, or they can lend their character out with as many or few guidelines as they see fit for you to write the Chapter with. In this instance, you're given temporary control over a character as a guest or ghostwriter to carry out a Chapter elsewhere while the controlling player continues their own story. The controlling player may ask to proofread any or all posts or ask for you to retract or edit posts as they see fit if actions or instances don't match their vision.

CHAPTERS:
'Chapters' is simply a fun name for contained player plots and story arcs. These are the stories told by you, the player and governed by those of you who take on the driving role. Sometimes these Chapters may be the work of one person, other times it may be the work of a duo or even a small party of players who created something together.

This is the bread and butter of the RP, moving it forward and filling out the world as players work together to tell stories and build the setting that directly impacts not only their character but also those playing alongside them in 'Supporting' and 'Roaming' roles. There's no defined length for a Chapter; it could be as short as a single post or as long as a story spanning over thirty posts. Think of a Chapter as an episode of a television show or a single comic issue.

All players must contribute towards the Chapters in the IC and drive their characters both independently and together. Equally, it is important to read other players' Chapters and make note of significant events or even just 'broadcasted' ones to reference and relate to within your own posts. Small efforts like this go a long way in making the world feel alive and connected.

Don't feel you have to be joined at the hip at all times, though; the same plot could be told through two characters without them constantly needing to be in the room at all times. To bring about a great recent example, re-examine 'Falcon and the Winter Soldier', while Sam and Bucky spent the impactful scenes together, if it wasn't for the events they accomplished apart, the story would not have fully come together.

CROSSOVERS:
Crossovers are the icing on the cake; this is where the larger picture starts to form. A crossover is defined here as a player-coordinated and driven interaction between two or more character plots in the IC. To phrase it another way, it's when two or more 'Driving' character plots converge on the same thread. Like a 'team-up' between Flash and the Green Arrow that brings in all those associated characters. A Crossover may be as simple as a one-time team-up or a small part of a larger overarching story, depending on the ambitions of the player(s) coordinating the story and those involved. There is no limit as to how many crossovers can take place at any one time as they will be completely moderated by those involved and not the GM Team.

Crossovers may take place in a single city or even multiple cities, spanning up to a national event, depending on the number of players involved in the current crossover. Players are not required to participate in a crossover if they do not want to, and if you have approached a player and they have turned you down, we ask that you please respect their wishes. That said, all players should consider participating in a crossover from time to time if only to recharge and avoid burnout due to lack of interaction. You will never be required to remain within the crossover for its entire run unless you become integral to its story, in which case it is only respectful to do so.

Ultimately, the structure of each crossover will be dependent upon the player(s) organizing it. It should be noted that a crossover should never change the status quo of the game, and while consequences and fallout is encouraged, it should be limited to only those involved unless special permissions have been granted.

CRISES:
Crises are large-scale events that affect the roleplay on a massive scale. These events can be global, universal or even multi-dimensional. Ideally, the occurring Crisis will affect all players, but all players need not directly contribute to the Crisis at hand. The outcome of these events will affect the roleplay's status quo, wiping the slate clean or drastically changing the present world. This could mean something like DC's Rebirth, where abandoned characters can be reset, allowing new players to assume their roles without the need to continue previous stories, or Marvel's Civil War, where characters and their beliefs will be challenged, changing the alignment of different characters and the shape of different team rosters. These events won't take place often, but when they do, they will be designed to directly impact the RP.

R U L E S & R E G U L A T I O N S:
R U L E S & R E G U L A T I O N S:
Players may take the role of any hero or villain from the DC and Marvel universes. Exceptions to this include characters which appeared due to crossovers with other franchises. Characters originally appearing in Manga or Anime are heavily discouraged because of their incompatibility with Western superhero comics. Other comic titles discouraged are those belonging to science fiction genres such as Godzilla, Power Rangers, Transformers, Star Trek, and Star Wars. We will judge all properties from outside of the Marvel and DC Universes on a case-by-case basis, provided they fit the themes and tones of the game, but the above limitations are definitive.

The GMs hold the right to veto any application that they feel is incompatible with this game. Whether by application content, character or player experience. The GMs are under no obligation to give any reason for an application rejection.

We will grant a second character to players at their request, provided they have proven consistent and reliable prior to asking. Additionally, the player should not be abrasive towards either the GMs or the other players; instead, they should inspire the community and help the game flourish. To summarize, players need to meet three criteria:

  • Post consistently, driving stories forward and referencing the world at large
  • Post reliably within posting requirements with minimum guidance from the GMs
  • Contribute to the game and community positively (i.e. Comment on posts and discussions, take part in Crises, create Crossovers, etc.)

Team applications may only be submitted as a second application and are subject to higher scrutiny by the GM team. While players are still welcome to submit applications for pairings or trios, applications for four or more characters (The Fantastic Four notwithstanding, provided it’s the canon characters) will only be permitted to players who have been granted a secondary character spot. Teams exempted from team applications include the Justice League and the Avengers. Not all teams are equal, and the eligibility of each team application will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

If a player applies as a team by themselves but is open to other players taking the reins of specific characters or otherwise helping with their concept, they may indicate so on their sheet. In this case, prospective players will fall primarily under their purview, although the GM reserves the right to final say in all player acceptances. Should a solo player not want anyone else involved with their team, they have no obligation to entertain inquiries.

If players choose to compete for a character, you have a twenty-four (24) hour window to state your intent to compete. The competing application(s) will then be given a seventy-two (72) hour deadline in which both players must submit their samples if they have not done so already. The GM Team will then judge the two competing applications. The winner will be selected by the GMs based on who they believe better portrays the character and has a stronger concept. During this competition, the GMs may also vet a player's history to check for posting consistency or previous incidents of abrasive behaviours to better weigh their options.

In terms of character creation, you are free to overhaul and redesign any canon character from one of the aforementioned publishers. This means you can tell the story of the character how you believe it should be told. However, the character should remain recognizable, though given the inspired source material, you may make any change necessary to tell your story. Every aspect of the character is malleable within the combined universe; this can even include sex and abilities if so desired. You will have more freedom with this in your multiverse than within the Prime Universe.

Absolutely no 'OOC' chatter in the In Character Thread. If you have a question or anything to explain, there is an Out Of Character Thread provided. You have no excuse to make an 'OOC' comment in the IC, and if done, it will be heavily frowned upon. If you require a more immediate answer, don't hesitate to directly ask the GM Team or relevant player through tagging, PM or other methods.

Writing expectations for this roleplay are at least two (2) well-developed paragraphs as a minimum per post. Three (3) to five (5) paragraph posts, however, would be awesome so long as you're not simply chewing the scenery. Proper spelling and grammar are also expected but small mistakes here and there are understandable. Blatant offences will be called out.

You are required to post at least once per character within a fourteen (14) day period. There will be a post-check-in, once per week performed by the GMs to ensure the IC is moving consistently. Extensions will be given in extenuating circumstances. Please recognize your limitations before joining the RP. If you are unable to post once every ten days, then it's highly likely that you do not have enough time to keep up with the RP. If you do miss the deadline, your character will be listed as 'inactive'. After a further week of inactivity, your character will be expelled and dealt with as necessary in the IC, whether killed or used as needed and then discarded. This whole process is simply easier if you just let the GM know if you're unable to keep up or simply have lost interest in the RP. If you find yourself in a plot with another player and they disappear, do your best to move on without them and quickly finish the arc to the best of your ability, or ask for the help of a GM.

This is a Character-Driven RP, and as such you are encouraged and expected to take charge of your character's subplots and storylines. There will be a heavy emphasis on collaborative activities and team building as well. The GMs will be leading the RP in the traditional sense with a driving plot and will ensure the RP keeps moving; however, we do want to see you develop your characters and produce your plots. However, we don't want you to lock your character out of interaction and focus solely on your character and their 'world'. No one enjoys watching you play with yourself; it's always better to let someone else join in on the fun.

If you join this RP, if you take the time to apply, I'm putting my faith in you that you'll be committed to it and that the character you play will be consistent with the one in the agreed-upon CS. I have a hard time with this sometimes, and I understand that things just happen. That said I’m referring to suddenly giving a character new powers with no explanation or completely changing their backstory to add new skills. I’m okay with changes, but I’d like a heads-up first, so perhaps we can work a more natural way towards these things happening. In terms of commitment, dropping out of the RP randomly for whatever reason is a pain for a GM. Simply put, it wastes my time along with the other players. If you do not think you can join and you're sure something will come up, do not join. The tendency to not care about an RP after a while? Don't join. Simple as that. I will work with you when it comes to bumps in the road. If you think you're going to be out for a couple of days, that's fine. I'll find a way to excuse you from the story or play your character. However, please let the group know as far in advance as possible. If you're going on a trip, tell me something. Do not leave me wondering where you are. Let me know so I can keep things going. I will work around you if you work with me when you can.
