My two cents @Thinslayer, you didn't really include Kaite in your round post. So I can see how it might frustrate @Hawlin to get her to go when she doesn't have a lot to work with.

This is just what I have observed, might be wrong.
His words had been meaningless, he turned back around to see Alionna slipping away into a building. He could only guess that she was healing her wounds, or trying to make the pain go away. He frowned, such was the curse she was afflicted with. The lizardman didn't say anything and just wandered off, probably finding Garen to be uninteresting. Perhaps it had been the comment about 'killing his kind' that soured his taste for conversation. It didn't really matter in the end.

Garen sat about for the rest of the night until the food was ready. He remembered the last time he had been at a feast, with home cooked food. It had been before the final battle, and it left a sour taste in his mouth just thinking about it. He had been with friends then, long time allies that he would not have hesitated to die for. Now he was surrounded by people he did not know and demons. How quickly the world could change. When the meal was done, Garen retreated back to the bar and fell asleep with a bottle in hand.

---

The morning came with a sunrise that was quite beautiful, but it only betrayed the situation. Now they would march after Sven to only find death and destruction. Garen was not very optimistic about the whole ordeal, but it was a necessary task. He only wanted a future where people could watch the sunrise and not be plagued with an uncertainty of tomorrow, haunting their every step. So he followed them, with Alionna at his side. They were in the back of the group, away from everyone else. He didn't trust these people, not yet anyways. Some had the right intentions, he was sure but others were only here for their own ends. For most of the journey to town of Catze, there wasn't much talking. Garen was comfortable with that silence.

They walked the day away, and upon the arrival at Catze, Garen's fears became realized. They were too late of course, Sven was already there and to make matters worse, old allies turned villain. Most notable to him were Tysetaz and Valerica and his heart sunk. The both of them looked changed already, Tysetaz was decorated with skulls, and to his horror, Valerica looked more construct then human. His face went blank before a hint of anger crossed it. He had known them both, they had been his friends, they had shed blood together and now they were at his side. Valerica would never have joined Sven, her character was pure and she was the best of them in heart. he could only think that Tysetaz and his devotion towards her, had something to do with it.

Garen knew that he couldn't kill Sven, but he would make it his personal goal to kill Tysetaz. It pained him, but he was guilty of helping that monster try to destroy the world, so he would be held responsible.

As the group began to run towards the town, Garen turned towards Alionna and said, "I'm going after Tysetaz."

Garen then split from the group, weaving through alleyways and generally avoiding anything in his path with a flurry of athletics. In quick time, he reach a building untouched by the fire so far, and began to climb. When he reached the top, he had a view of the center of town, but the fire was getting closer, he would have to be quick. From his vantage point, he could see Sven, confronted by Leila and the female demon. Unless they ran, he knew what was going to happen to them. He then saw Tysetaz up close and Valerica as well. It was as he feared, they both looked... corrupted in a sense.

Without dwelling on what he had to do, Garen notched an arrow in his bow, took aim at Tysetaz and fired it.

Garen watched Feon walk off after mentioning Jason, who must have been the man who left to the gate. He was slightly annoyed that her plan was to camp out here, Sven was already days ahead and most likely killing more people as he went. When the monk girl wandered off towards where the muscle man was cooking things, Garen was dumbfounded.

"Did she just ignore us and wander off Ali?" he mused. What was it with these people? Can't even hold a decent conversation to save their lives. Well then again, half of them were demons and the other half were just... oddities.

He had already made his choice, while everyone else was sacrificing animals to the statue, he would do no such thing now. Since it was permanent, there wasn't much incentive to do so. He had never used magic before and would probably just end up hurting himself, or worse. However, he was no fool and Feon had also said that artifacts would come into play. Something the archer could really use, was a better bow. Having a magic item was the only thing that Garen found acceptable and if he could get his hands on another bow that didn't require physical arrows to fire, he would be a happy elf.

Fond memories came back to him as he remembered his own magical bow. It fired magical arrows that always seemed to hit his target, whether they went through armor or a shield was another matter entirely. That bow was lost well before Sven fell.

The lizard man then arrived in front of Garen and Alionna. He introduced himself as Kythe Vazarin. It was a name he had never heard of, which didn't surprise the elf. What did peek his interest was that Kythe seemed to know who he was but not Alionna.

He spoke before Ali had a chance, "You know of me? How? I don't remember ever seeing any of your kind before. But if I have and I killed them, sorry about that."

The Past

"There was once an ocean of stars
So beautiful and full of light,
But the only thing we had were tears
For we only saw the night,
And in that night where we walked
There were no stars that shone,
Only the coldness of being shocked
To know that we would all die alone."

~An old poem found scribbled on the wall of an ancient dwelling

"Long strides ran over the parched earth, each step making the warrior clang, as metal touched metal. All around there was the sign of decay, death had touched the land too quickly, before it was ready and a mockery of life could only be seen of what remained. The warrior looked at the sword in hand, glowing softly. It was long, sharp, deadly and upon their helmet, a grim visage could be seen."

"With quick precision the warrior swung their long sword in the direction of three lowly clad demons, catching them by surprise and decapitating two, while cutting into the neck of the third. With a loud gurgle of black blood, the lowly demon was executed outright, by a quick twist of the warrior as they used their momentum to get behind it. The warrior then continued on, the sounds of battle more evident now then ever before. It was like a drum beating in the very heart of those that could hear it, calling on them to fight or be destroyed. Demonic bodies littered the ground as the warrior began to run up the hill that would show the way forward."

"The warrior crested the hill to see the chaos for their self. Hoards of demons and other foul creatures swarmed over the armies of the light, only wanting to fill themselves up on agony and pain. Yet, light seldom gives into dark without wrestling for control and so those brave soldiers displayed no fear in the face of certain doom. They fought for freedom, survival and above all else, a world free from the dominion of evil. And so, with a heart inspired by what she saw, The Lady of the Blade tore down the hillside and made battle with her foes. Well that was until he arrived, but that is another tale for another night."

The little boy sitting at the edge of anticipation gleamed with large eyes up at his mother. "But what happens next? Who arrives mother? What's going to happen to lady Yarielle?"

She smiled and the boy knew his attempts were in vain. "Now now, you know the rules. One story a night, you'll just have to wait till tomorrow, my love." She bent over, kissing him on the forehead and then tucked him under the covers of the bed.

"Ughh, yes mother."

"Now goodnight Ti, I'll see you in the morning."

"Goodnight mama." His door was then shut and the darkness of the room swept over him. It did not take long for his heavy eyelids to close and he drifted off to sleep, dreaming of the adventures of Lady Yarielle and what would happen next.

What would come next, would only haunt him forever...

The Faraway Land. :P

More seriously, the setting is on an extraterrestrial world that was colonized by Earthlings and then left alone to its own devices. Why they're not more advanced is a long story. To summarize it, a HUGE demon invasion pretty much wiped all civilization off the map. Together with the Guardians that suddenly appeared, the fledgling races were able to repel them, but by then, it was too late - the damage was done. It's been a few thousand years since that climactic battle, and the races are still struggling to regain their footing in the world.

It was called Crescent Prime by its settlers, named after the ancient Fertile Crescent from real world history. People call it "The Crescent" or just "Prime."

Holy shit, that's amazing.
I'll have to cook something up here, stay tuned!
Would an example of that be the stories that you do with the captain? Cause if we can do like other stories that'd be cool.
She laughed at him. Why was she laughing? Already Tiberius was flustered, but now he was just embarrassed as his face became slightly red. He had always liked to think that it took a lot to embarrass him, but here was Fin making him so nervous he was doing it to himself. In little time to boot. He hadn't been like this since... No, that didn't matter right now. What did matter was regaining a sense of composure. He looked at the elf again and realized she hadn't been laughing at him because he was an idiot, but more so because he was being foolish.

Her eyes, they twinkled when they locked gazes with each other. So caught up with earlier events, he hadn't really noticed that she was very pretty. Small, delicate was her frame, and her hair was just they way he fancied it. Her skin was smooth and unblemished, such as all elves he thought. He looked away suddenly and didn't really know what to do. It was impolite to stare at someone for as long as he had been doing, without at least saying a word.

When she spoke again, her tone was different, almost playful in nature. Once again, he looked at her and a soft smile came to his lips. His mother once told him, 'Smile at a girl not because she's pretty, Ti, but because its the right thing to do.'

"So, you're in charge, huh? I like a guy who's in charge. You're pretty cool. I bet you've got a lady waiting for you, because there's no way knights like you stay alone."

His voice was bitter when he spoke next, as a deep sadness filled his heart, "No. There is no one waiting for me at home, Ms. Vanarys. Not anymore."

He didn't like to think about his past but it would have been inevitable at one point, someone would ask a question that would trigger the bad memories. The ones which he tried so hard to bury. For the sake of her memory, his families memory, he had always tried to do the right thing in the face of evil so that it would never have to happen again. No one god damn person deserves having everyone they held dear, ripped away in an instant by people with the power to do so.

Tiberius turned his gaze at the fire and watched it flicker. It was funny, how something so small, had the potential to burn everything.
I'll post something tomorrow.
Garen felt relieved when Ali told him that she would be okay, but a part of him knew that she would never really be fine again. A wound such as hers needed more then mortal magic to heal. If he had the power to help her through the curse, he would, but Garen was no wizard. He mistrusted magic, just like the other man had said earlier, and it was always beyond him.

When Feon began to talk, he moved to stand next to Alionna, then faced the monk girl. What she said was almost a crime, and could have saved a lot of pointless bickering he was sure, if she had just told them the rest about the statue. All of it seemed underwhelming now, with the downside of it having a cap for a year there wasn't a lot to worry about besides who would abuse the power during that time. It might be a threat after Sven is destroyed, but Garen didn't see that happening for awhile. There was no guarantee that any of them would even survive.

After Feon walked over to them, he listened to the two women talk to each other. Alionna's concerns were justified to be sure, and he was inclined to agree with her about destroying the statue. Perhaps if they survive everything, one day they could but not now. He would have told her that he never say any indication that Sven had the potential for necromancy, but he let her finish her thoughts. Feon then interjected, restating what she knew about the statue and that the knowledge would disappear after a years time. He could tell she was growing agitated, with her remark about leaving.

He spoke up finally, "Now listen here, I think you need all the help you can get, so telling her to leave would not be in your interest. Her concerns are what many of us 'moral' folk are also thinking. You make a fair point however, Feon, the statue is needed right now to face an even greater threat. So let's put aside our differences and come up with a game plan. We're already wasting time."

Garen was then forced to watch that bitch of a demon bait a bear into being killed for the sacrifice. He always liked bears, seing one killed wasn't something he enjoyed watching.
