Some people need to make a hard choice when deciding which two karaoke streams they want to listen to. I have no such weakness: I have two ears for a reason.

The hard part about trying to play some politically savvy mastermind is the assumption that the world operates off real world politics and not your DM’s politics.

Don't put too much stock in prophesies. At best they're full of shit, but more often than not they're one of those self-fullilling kinds. Plan for what happens afterwards instead.

A character isn't deep or compelling just because you let them get hurt a lot, are always depressed, or do morally questionable things.

Bio

If you're here either you're wondering what I'm doing cause I need to post in your RP (In which case, calm yo tits, I'll get around to it), or you want to know who I am. So let's begin.

I'm a college age asian kid who has more heart than he has senses. I'm still working out this whole "adulthood" thing, so until then I just do what I feel I must. As far as personality and traits go, I'm not one for boasting. So if there's anything redeeming about myself you'd have to figure it out in person or by word-of-mouth. Generally however I'm rather perverted, in the best and worst ways. nothing is too much until I've crossed the line, and that just means I've started.

As far as Roleplays I like, I have a thing for fantasy, though I'm also good for some types of sci-fi, supernatural, Modern, and slice-of-life. If it's open and sandbox, I'll probably join it. Never really been a romantic, I often chose to sexualize any notion of romantic encounters I come across. I generally write at Casual quality, though I have no issues with Free-Level Rp/Players and I can hold my own in Advance.

And so begins the tale of our doomed adventurers...

The Ruins of Norn were ancient, untouched, not even by the various nations would would benefit from their bounties. In the past, great empires, mighty kingdoms, and federations of some of the most promising and powerful counties tried to utilize their resources to reap the benefits of Norn. For a few years, they've proven successful, accelerating their own progress and granting them powers to rise above all else. But ultimate downfall always came from the same treasures they've raided, destroyed internally and their lands simply expanding the ruins of Norn. Even now other nations, who continue to feud and battle each other for whatever reason they had, would never step foot in the ruins even if they were all bout wiped out.

This made the ruins a lawless place. Clever individuals have tried to take advantage of this to start a new world, and like those before them, success was short lived. Towns built, infrastructures formed, and for a while there was even a city where people could come to Norn and possibly seek their fortunes in the ruins. But of course, a few years passed and the city was now a ghost of it's former self. Brighthaven; it was suppose to be the first bastion to help discover the secrets of Norn. Now a gutted, rotten place where only vermin and trash live. The only civilization are small clans and tribes who live like nomads throughout the ruins, feuding with other clans for resources or being eaten alive by the various threats within. At least Brighthaven provided a usable port for anyone to use to arrive to this place; for a steep fee brave sailors would be more than willing to drop you off here and leave before anyone could have second thoughts.

Those who arrive would be greeted by nothing but the smell of sea rot and the sight of decayed corpses. Animals, birds, and people who have been killed and left behind by whatever murdered them. Most don't look to have been eaten, but torn apart by wild beasts. And still left whole enough for everyone to identify their remains. Even the animals derive some sick pleasure from cruelty. Yes, the Ruins of Norn were indeed a nightmare... But for those brave enough to venture here, it was also the only solution they had to their problems. Perhaps they seek wealth. Power. Knowledge. The Ruins have these things for those capable of taking it.

But could they survive? We shall see.

The party begins in a ruined house just outside of Brighthaven. They know each other, if only for a short while; once there were ten. Now it's just four. Various beasts and monsters had made sure to cull the weak, tearing apart flesh and steel as easily as a hungry man tears apart bread. A new day begins and the group must decide where they must venture to first. Brighthaven was still largely unexplored, with a potential treasure trove of items and artifacts that might've been left behind by those who didn't make it. To the north they could try and brave the Morkador forest to the ruins of Norn itself. East and west had large imposing mountains, but during their time traveling they would know that the eastern mountain had some sort of fortress at the very top. Little was known about what was there, but it still remains standing vigilante nonetheless. Additionally they would also know that to the east is a civilization. There had been signs, notes written in common, of people who are willing to speak to outsiders. Whether this was an invitation or bait however, the party must learn on their own.

Their fate, whatever it may be, was in their hands now.

Alright good enough. Post your CS’s into the CS tab. I’ll eventually get ya started.
@Fallen Muse

Yeah it’s a dead link.

If you're one of the players who I discussed about joining, post the link to your CS here.
On the shore of the Sea of Gales lies the port town of Brighthaven. Although its official name sounds pleasant enough, you would get another idea of the place once you heard the natives names for it; Bloodhaven or Thief Town being among the more popular ones. It is a big, wild place, full of people of all sorts of questionable occupations and backgrounds. It is not a place for the weak of heart. Living here is risking everything, but still people flock to the place like flies to freshly spilled faeces. Why, you might ask? Because of Norn, that's why.

Just a days travel north of the city lies the great forest of Morkador, and within it, the ruins of ancient Norn. Norn was once the capitol of the Nornum empire, a realm of great power and influence which fell to an unknown catastrophy over a thousand years ago. Although a long time has passed since then, and despite the numerous expeditions into the dark woods, the place is still teeming with treasure. Gold, jewels, silver, and foremost of them all: magical artifacts.

Magic is rare nowadays. Some say it is leaking out of the world. Others say that the art has simply been lost to time. Whatever the case may be, the fact of the matter is that the most potent, and valuable, pieces of enchanted goods can be found only in this place. But delving into Morkador is not without risk.

In fact, most expeditions into the dark forest end up as failures, or are never heard from again. The woods hold all sorts of nasty surprises for the unwary and expert traveller alike; beasts, ghosts, bandits and other adversaries haunt the ruins of old Norn, and have proven a daunting challenge even for the most illustrious of adventurers.

But still they come, from near and far, and for every imaginable reason. Its a great gamble, with your life at stake, but the treasures of Norn and the promise it brings just might be worth the dangers of Morkador.

Right, so now that we got that our of the way here's the basic rule set:

1. My word is law. Standard RP/D&D stuff. While I'm willing to hear you out if you want to contest something, it's not garuntee that you'll get your way and frankly if I find that you're pushing it too much, you're out.
2. This is a 5e game with 5e mechanics. While I'm open to homebrew or house ruling, bring it up to me first before you implement it. Ignoring or forgetting this rule will invalidate your actions, making you fail at whatever you were attempting and wasting all of our time.
3. Let's get this our of the way soon: If you want to fight another PC IC, feel free to do so, but it will be conducted with the standard rules of combat. Fighting IC is fine, but chances are that it will cause a stir OoC, so I demand that both sides keep OoC arguing or combat out until the fight is resolved. If you don't wanna face off against your fellows, tread carefully.
4. Death will happen. I'm not going to pull my punches here; you will be outnumbered, you will run into enemies above your level, and I have plenty of traps in mind to screw you over when it's most inconvenient. While I am not a blood thirsty GM, that doesn't mean recklessness will be rewarded and like it or not, there are things in this RP that seeks to kill your character in the most brutal and dishonorable way doable.
5. For newcomers or hopefuls who wish to join, you begin at level 3, your budget is whatever you could get with your starter class options plus 150 GP, and any source from the Core, Unearthed Arcana, and Xanathar's guide is allowed. Any homebrewed content must be passed by me first, and if I have any question about your abilities, spells, or items, I expect you to have a legitimate source for it. That is to say, you can't simply tell me, you need to show it to me on official documents.
6. More rules to be added as I see fit.
Another day, another donut.

A large grey hand reached out to grasp two chocolate dipped sprinkled donuts as he sipped his coffee. Clocking in at 7 o’clock on the dime, a large demonic man walked through the quiet office halls to his cubicle. For a man of his size and appearance it was almost comical how small his office space looked. But it was cozy. It had both his work and personal computer, as well as a little dancing robot. It’s moves changed depending on what sort of music it hears. There was another box of donuts here, these filled with custard, and a small coffee machine. There was an animesque calendar posted on the wall with various dates about things the demon had planned, such as summoning rituals, planar binding, occult blood rights that needed addressing, new anime episodes, and various moon phases for his profane ceremonies.

Just another day in the business for Darc. He sat down at his desk, booted up his computers, and saw that he had a good fifty odd new emails. Pretty low all things considered; he usually had a hundred or two, and some of them might not just be the hourly reports. Putting on his work glasses (redundant considering he doesn’t have eyes) he began to sort out his email. Hourly reports were reviewed for any abnormalities, spam were erased, and any personal messages were given careful scrutiny. Most was just the Underhaven network, with various users making requests and needing advice. Business as usual. Darc snapped his fingers and a large amount of imps swarmed his cubicle. Officially they’re interns, but in truth they’re just a few of his many familiars. He began to dole out orders and delegating tasks he’ll need them to do for today. Requests to answers, questions to solve, general contract jobs.

After commanding his imps to do their jobs Darc did his usual desk jockey job. Wandering emails, filling out paperwork, updating files. Lot of busy work. Working with OIA wasn’t all car chases and shootouts after all. At the end of the day it was just another government job with lots of pencil pushing and red tape. At least work was steady. At around noonish Darc clocked out for lunch, choosing to eat at a nice little Italian cafe. As he was in the middle of his four cheese and spices ravioli he got an emergency email. Turns out there was a bloody massacre at the Monolith. That was barely two miles away from where he was eating. Already Darc was intercepting some information via texts and blogs about the massacre, with people speculating, throwing around accusations, and generally spreading word about the incident. Darc would have to look through them later. It was time to work. Paying for his meal to go Darc headed over to the scene of the crime.

Using his human guise Darc arrives to the crime scene, flashing his badge to the officers as he approached the first body. There was already someone here though: Detective Isaac Hood, a new transfer. Bit of a mystery as Darc couldn’t find much info about him beyond his accomplishments. Still, the new guy was on his side, so Darc wasn’t going to press the issue. Handing a junior officer his take out he knelt beside the body as Isaac was doing his thing. A cursory glance gave Darc some information, though nothing Isaac didn’t already find out. ”What a shallow cut. Either an amateur or a sadist. Don’t know which one is worse.” Standing up Darc looked over to Isaac with a smirk. Practically the demon’s most defining creature regardless of what form he takes. Always had that huge shit eating grin. ”Detective Hood. I got five dollars saying that the blood bath inside isn’t just going to be a scene of general carnage, but yet another blood ritual. Betting another five it’s demons.” Darc took a deep, long whiff. ”Smells like demons.”

@Arreyis

That's fine, no rush.
@ArkmageddonCat

Sometimes. It’s just that whenever I’m in a fantasy RP, with or without magic, there’s always that one player who wants to start a gunpowder revolution and makes up as much backstory or excuses why such a character would have the in depth knowledge to not just make the blasting powder, but also the metallurgy skill to create a functional firearm that’s not just a muzzle load.

It’s the “give them an inch and they’ll go a mile” problem. GM let’s them have their gun powder, and somehow they’ve also figured out how to create metal cartridges for their bullets, either double barrels pepper boxstyle guns, and sometimes even magazines based off repeating crossbows designs. Which is stupid because repeating crossbows are gravity fed not spring loaded like actual modern gun magazines.
