The worst thing about mental illness is you have to look after yourself a disgusting amount. I know it's the only way to actually be in a fit state to look out for others, but it still feels wrong.

Judging by the Internet's definitions of introversion and extraversion, you'd think everyone's either an extreme hermit or a party animal with no in between.

Bio

A frazzled British thirtysomething cat mum with something of a tea addiction.

I like a wide range of RP genres, but have two absolute favourites: Pokemon and magical girls. (If someone manages to combine the two, I'll be VERY happy!) I post fairly regularly, but sometimes shit mental health days crop up - if that causes any delays, I'll try to resume posting ASAP.

"Iliana!" Jason called out. "Use Flame Burst!"

The Vulpix spat a ball of fire, which exploded into embers as it hit one of the already weakened Scolipedes. The embers scattered all over the second Scolipede. Both flailed before rolling onto their sides, unconscious.

"Whew... Told you it was no problem!" Jason said to Charlotte with a shaky laugh, although he had no idea what he'd have done if she hadn't helped. "Well, looks like it's back to the Pokemon centre." Returning all his Pokemon, he retraced his steps.

To his surprise and relief, the lights were back on, and he saw two girls step out. He caught a glimpse of their tired-looking faces before they disappeared round a corner, saying something about food. "So this place isn't completely abandoned," he commented, heading in.

Behind the counter stood an elderly, bearded man, fishhooks in his cap. He gave them both a crooked-toothed smile. "'Welcome! Yer both new 'round town? Would yer be wantin' yer Pokemon healed up?"

With a nod, Jason handed over the six Pokeballs. "What was going on, just now?" he asked.

"Ehh, a pesky ol' Pokemon wreakin' havoc round here," the man answered. "His idea o' fun, keepin' us all out like lights, dreamin' away. But some young'uns came along an' put a stop to that game of his. Nothin' more to worry about." He passed the Pokeballs back to Jason. "An' there we was, thinkin' he was just a legend."

Jason's eyes widened. "You mean Darkrai?" He thought back to the other story he'd heard about Stillwater, besides that of Lunala. But from what he'd read, Darkrai only inflicted nightmares on evildoers, leaving innocents alone... didn't he?

Turning her attention from the two Pokemon to a notice pinned to the wall, Florence took out her Pokedex.

This organisation was one she'd always admired, especially since deciding on a life path to follow. And now that path no longer parelleled the one to this guild, but seemed to lead directly towards it. She'd set out to care for Pokemon along her way, and what better opportunity was there to do so?

There was one problem, though. She'd seen the dubious looks people tended to give the poster, heard the mutters between trainers in the lobby. If part of her goal was to learn to befriend people, would being a member of this group drive them away, all because of one incident in its past?

She reminded herself that its members had been held to strict rules for decades, but that didn't change the fact that not everyone knew this.

"Chiko?" Noticing Florence's uncertainty, Vernie bounded over to her.

"Know what..." Florence muttered, thinking back to the first time she'd met Vernie, the days she'd spent by the Chikorita's side, helping her through her illness. "I'm doing this. I'm joining Aether Foundation."

With that, she pressed a button on her Pokedex, the message on the screen confirming her recruitment.

Ok, we've pretty much reached the end of Day 3. Does anyone else want to post, or do we timeskip?

As Oscar nodded, Sophia's expression softened into a smile - then turned to a scowl when he started doing his usual thing of lecturing her.

"Oh, cut out the preaching! I'm fine! I just need some food and some sleep, that's all," she huffed. In a way, though, he was right. If she ran into a thug like Hammer, or a member of Team Noble, or even a particularly dangerous wild Pokemon while in this state, things wouldn't turn out well for her. "And I've got to get stronger. If I don't..." Her gaze shifted away for a moment, although she knew that even if Oscar didn't see the vulnerability in her eyes, Daisho would probably relay it to him. "I really won't survive."

She jumped and yelped, nearly tripping over, having to be steadied by Amber as the Gengar made his appearance. Nyxx, despite being the victim of his little prank, kept her composure, calmly but firmly ordering him to stop.

Pulling back, Sophia glared at the grinning ghost. "Whew... So it was just you I was sensing," she said. "But that wasn't funny!" As reassuring as it was to know a ghost hadn't followed the group from the woods, this was the last thing she'd needed while already in a jittery state.

"Well, I think the plan is to stay in Mesalon a while longer," Amber replied to Nyxx. "But we'll most likely head to Vareena some time soon, if you're ok with that."

She drew back with a gasp as, without warning, a shadow pierced through Nyxx's chest and engulfed her entire body. Once the girl's stern command made it clear she was alright, Amber's shock turned to fascination.

"So that's what it looks like, when they sneak up on people from their shadows," she commented, only realising when she saw the look on Sophia's face that she'd weirded her out even more. Taking out her Pokedex, she pointed it at the Gengar.

"Should you feel yourself attacked by a sudden chill, it is evidence of an approaching Gengar. There is no escaping it. Give up."

"Ehh... I won't get on your bad side, then," she said to the Gengar with a slight nervous laugh. She wasn't too afraid, though. Mistress Hollow did trust this ghost to keep an eye on her daughter, after all. It was anyone who tried to harm Nyxx who would have something to fear. "I saw your mother let him out, I figured he was watching over you," she explained to Nyxx.

Nearing the building, she cradled the Pokeball containing the injured owl. "I'd better go get this Rowlet healed," she said, heading into the lobby alongside Sophia and Solanna. "I hope it's going to be ok."

Mesalon Pokecentre -> Heading Home

"And I thought Whimsicott was a prankster," Solanna chuckled at the Gengar's antics. Before heading into the Pokecentre with Amber and Sophia, she turned to the others. Three of the group seemed in no fit state to do any travelling. "There's no rush!" she told them. "You'll want time to practice, after all."

Once her Pokemon were healed, she gave the group her usual bright smile. "Well, it's time I made a move. But good luck for your journey!"

She gathered her belongings from her room, handed in the key, then left. Making her way through the lamp-lit streets, she brought out Charizard as soon as she reached the edge of the mesa. "Ready to go home?" She petted the Charizard's scaly head and climbed onto his back. The world below grew distant as the winged lizard ascended higher and higher into the sky.

The great thing about flying was leaving everything behind, even just for a while. Even if she did have to land eventually.
Remember all Pokemon involved in the battle level up.

"Hey, good move there!" Solanna commented, watching the blonde girl's Snorunt unleash a flurry of snow that knocked out several Hoothoots and sent the remaining ones scattering. "Are you planning on going into contests?"

The ringtone blared again. "Ehh, I'd better get that." Picking up the phone, no sooner had she said hello than she had to hold it away from her ear.

"Solanna! Oh, THANK ARCEUS!! Don't DO that to me again!!" The words came out in a rush. "The attack, it was in the news! Yeesh! Please tell me you're not hurt!"

Realising how badly she'd worried her sister, Solanna cringed. She'd mentioned the previous day that she'd be staying in Mesalon, and now this had happened... "Lorraine, I'm fine. Sorry I took so long to pick up. There were some wild Pokemon causing trouble just now. Nothing too bad! It's all dealt with. And about the attack, I only found out about it this morning."

She heard Lorraine give a sigh of relief. "To think nobody's dealt with those bastards yet!"

Hoping nobody would overhear, Solanna hung back from the others as they started heading back to the Pokecentre. "At least this is getting looked into. Hopefully it'll just be a matter of time until it all gets shut down. And thankfully, everyone involved survived." She lowered her voice to a whisper. "I was talking to some of them just now."

Nothing was going to calm Lorraine. "Oh, Solanna! Are you sure you're ready for that?"

Solanna's hesitation was an answer in itself.

"Look, come on back," Lorraine urged. "I'll let Hailey know you're ok. Geez, we were worried sick."

"Yeah... I'll be right over," Solanna answered. "Tell her I say she's still gotta put up with me. Well, see you soon!" Once they'd said goodbye, Solanna headed over to the rest of the group.

"I won't be able to stick around much longer," she explained. "Once Whimsicott's healed, I'll have to head off back to Vareena. But..." She turned towards Oscar and Amber. "Here's a challenge. If you're still planning on visiting the contest hall there, when we next see each other, show me the most impressive Pokemon moves you've got!" She flicked her gaze over the rest of the group. "Same goes for anyone else interested in contests. There might just be something in it for you that'll help you put on a show!"

Returning to Vareena was all she could do to try to put her sisters' minds at ease, but she couldn't help feeling like she was turning her back on these people.

Sophia Danvers

Outskirts of Mesalon

@fer1323 @Heckno12 @OtomostheCrazy @Noxx @Dusksong

Making her way back with small, slow steps, still leaning on Amber for support, Sophia shuddered. She'd gone and collapsed, in front of everyone, bringing them rushing to fuss over her. Yes, she was meant to be the centre of attention, but for her strength, not for her weakness.

She could barely look at anyone - except for one person. The person she'd thought she'd least want to face. That feeling, though, that feeling that she wasn't alone, had been what she'd needed.

Looking up at Oscar, she spoke in a whisper. "You meant that?"

As soon as Solanna returned to the group, announcing her challenge, Sophia blurted her answer. "Heh! No problem for me! I'm in on this!" Impressing people was what she was best at... right? Or at least, what she should be best at. And if everyone saw her as weak, this would be her chance to prove them wrong.

The walk back wasn't a long one, Mesalon being a fairly small town, but Sophia stayed as alert as possible, watching out, trying to sense any approaching humans or Pokemon in the darkness. The signals were difficult to pick up on, her burned-out abilities blurring them into an indistinct haze, but she could be sure of one thing.

There was something odd in the group.

Sophia tensed. She could be interpreting this wrong in her exhausted state. Or one of the trainers could have a Ghost type that liked to sneak around while invisible and pull pranks. Or... something had followed them from the forest.

"This may seem like a weird question," she said, thinking how to word it without alarming people too much, "but does anyone happen to have a Ghost type?"

Amber Pine

@OtomostheCrazy @Dusksong @Heckno12 @fer1323 @Noxx

"Contests are certainly something I'll give a try," Amber replied to Solanna. "They'll be another way to study Pokemon moves, and learn to combine them."

As much as she wanted to speed up her pace for the sake of the Rowlet, she wasn't going to hurry Sophia along. "You know, if that was Reflect your Gothita used, that would be a good contender," she suggested.

At Sophia's question, she gave her a puzzled look. "Well, Aedre here has a Honedge," she answered, "but why do you ask? ... Ohh." She remembered something Mistress Hollow had done earlier. "Nyxx, is that Gengar still following you around?"

The fact that the group needed powerful Pokemon to watch over them this early on was disconcerting, to say the least. These events over the past few days weren't what any trainers should be facing, let alone beginners.

Failing to spot Leisy at first, Ella headed back to the room, where she took a quick, refreshing shower. Feeling much more awake, she changed clothes and made sure she'd gathered up all her belongings.

This time, she noticed Leisy as soon as she entered the lobby. The trainer was in mid-conversation with the extremely grateful-looking old man, who called her over.

"We... did it?" Ella piped up. "You mean we defeated him? But how?" It was all starting to come together in sharper clarity. The wraith, trying to create a story, using people like marionettes, sulking when they'd refused to be his little puppets. And, just now, she hadn't had any nightmares.

The old man gave his gap-toothed grin. "Yep! Yer din' let him be the big scary bad guy he wanted to be. Messed up his story real good."

All Ella could do was stand there in bewilderment as one of the townspeople mentioned their rewards, trainer points. "Th-Thanks," she replied. She'd barely done much except freak out and brutalise everyone in sight. Did she really deserve a reward?

She bowed to the old man and followed Leisy. "Yeah... We haven't eaten anything for a day," she agreed. She'd only feel properly revitalised once her nagging hunger and thirst were sated.

✿ Florence Hadley ✿

Location: Feyhollow Town

Even with the familiar light yellow walls and smell of disinfectant, Florence felt like an outsider in the Pokecentre.

As she entered, Nurse Joy looked up from the desk, quickly greeting her before resuming talking to an old lady who spoke in a low, trembling whisper. The woman clenched her hands by her sides as she cast a glance towards the Pokeballs in the healing machine. Florence hung back, her gaze shifting from the worried trainer to Vernie, then to the floor. How did the nurse manage to stay so positive and reassuring?

As much as Florence wanted to help Vernie, it seemed the one who needed help most was the woman at the counter. Chewing at her lip, Florence hoped nothing too bad had happened to this person's Pokemon.

The nurse leaned down and said something to a pink-and-purple Pokemon at her side. "Aroma," the Pokemon replied, approaching Florence and Vernie, bringing with her a strong smell of perfume.

"Hey, Aromatisse," A small smile lit up Florence's face as she set Vernie down on the floor.

The Chikorita stepped forward, nailed toes clicking on the tiles. "Chiko-Chikori-ta," she said, raising her leaf and showing Aromatisse the scratches. Putting her hands together, Aromatisse released a pink energy wave, healing the last of Vernie's injuries.

"How's that? Are you alright now?" Florence asked, crouching down and examining the Chikorita's leaf. Vernie anwered with a cheery squeak. Although the new trainer kept her smile, it was with a tinge of sadness that she watched the two Pokemon. Once she left Feyhollow to explore the world, Vernie and Aromatisse would surely miss each other.

But this Pokemon centre... It wasn't where she was meant to be after all. At least, not for now.

@Zarkun Looking forward to seeing what you go with. Wow, Tommy has so much more variety than Cici, she has way too many Normal types.
@Zarkun Yep, so that's going to be Gible and which other one?
