Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

Nero – Train

After the story's end, Nero could properly turn his eyes outward once more. He hadn't realized, despite the alteration of the events to conceal the narrative's personal aspect, he still revived those memories with respect to their significance. Trying to prevent a powerful resurgence, he took a look around at his surroundings, to let the present fill him up and shatter any chance of the past taking root. The episode between Sasha and Shujin had reached a climax, threatening to erupt into what might very well have been a vicious brawl between metal-wielding interloper and the ominously-glowing Lazarus. Nero made note that the light that smoothly emanated from Lazarus carried little of the gratifying, soothing radiance that the dark mage might expect from an angel; it simmered more with anger, and perhaps jealousy. For the first time, Nero looked at Sasha and Lazarus as a couple. Naturally. The idyllic partners, beautiful and tenacious opponents, but with a personable soft side each. Sadly, those flames of passion dulled down and the chance for bloodshed vanished. Shujin made as if he were going to leave, and as Sasha protested, Nero turned his attention elsewhere.

For a few moments now Prince had been journeying around the train carriage, and as Nero scrutinized the passengers he could conclude why. No semblance of subtlety had been practiced by either Lazarus of Shujin as they had prepared for their perilous duel, and the normal folk, wary of the wizards of Phoenix Wing or the oft-exaggerated rumors about them -whichever was worse-, had grown distressed. Contempt from Nero answered the catman's activities, for to him, they were not comforting reassurances. Either the catman was falsely trying to create the appearance of caring for others about himself, or he genuinely wanted to play the hero. Surprisingly, the second option stirred more discord with Nero, for it was the job of the parent, or simply the adult, to understand or make children understand that everything was okay, even if it wasn't. Nero, while fostering various tones of sympathy, did not approve of trying to make the world seem brighter than it was. Magic, its misuse, and its consequences were part of life, just as conflict, insecurity, and war were. To shelter fear was to stifle a remedy for it.

In his venture, however, it seemed that Prince encountered an obstacle. While admittedly Nero felt some satisfaction in seeing the catman getting whacked, he would not stoop to bestow any favor on the old cooter. Happenstance framed the movements of existence, but it did not excuse unprovoked attack when said attack meant nothing. Nero looked upon the cane-happy elder as a fool, too concerned with the outward appearance of issues and too stupid to engineer a proper solution. The problem with Prince, Nero already knew, was not who he was or what he looked like. It was all in the mind.

With that in mind, Nero returned his gaze to Trinity, though undoubtedly identifying this action would be difficult. Due to force of habit, Nero squinted a vast majority of the time, making it appear as if his eyes were always closed. “Heheh,” he tittered, and rubbed his head guiltily. “Figured it out pretty quick, huh? I keep casting it, every couple of days or so, to make sure she never gets free. She's been a doll for so long now that I bet even if she turned back, her thinker would be jelly. Sounds pretty funny, actually, a special needs abomination! Um...as for the village. I didn't stick around.” As Nero explained, careful not to divulge anything sensitive, his own reasons for leavings seemed faultier by the second. He had been so afraid of being set upon by the people he'd saved, because he expected that he'd be blamed for the girl's injuries. After all, such grievances were often his fault in truth. Why would anyone forgive, let alone celebrate, someone as creepy as he, who used such dangerous methods? “They...um, were too upset about...their losses.” A mental switch turned. Like clockwork, the genies's smile refreshed itself. The face momentarily haunted by doubt now contained only that familiar Nero joviality. “But hey, no biggie! Another day, another play, that's what matters. If I'd stuck around for fun and games, I might not ever have been able to leave. And then who'd grant wishes?”
Is there any specific post order for Team SASG? Or can we just post willy-nilly?

No preference.
As it stands, I'm concerning myself with it anyways XD

Read my last post to find out then.
Yknow... don't those curse laws rventually wear off?

Yes, though powerful ones take longer, and Nero can keep refreshing it. Not that Trinity would know this, or that the plushie is actually the Horned One.

Nothing you need concern yourself over, Zarkun.
Shameless self promoting

Promoting like a shameless whore for my stream. hope anyone will say atleast hi xd

i watched for a little while, but I do not have an account, so I couldn't say anything. An interesting game you were playing to say the least.
@Lugubrious Do have some kind of mana drain affliction? Like where if someone completely expends their mana pool, they take a hit to its recovery time?

I don't think that's necessary. Mana comes back slowly enough that it can be treated as a finite resource in an engagement. If someone runs out of mana, it'll be some time (half an hour or more depending on the person) before even a single spell can be used. Plus, mana consumption makes the user tired in the same way as physical exercise.
The glance directed at Kadoodle by Udo Koro Kai hosted no special attentions. “You answered our call for aid. If there's a mistake here, it was your judgment, not ours.” Perfect balance could only be achieved through methodical, precise control of emotions, and Kai judged that splurging them on this tentative goblin would be unwise.

What questions followed came rather quickly. After the esteemed Madam Delacroix and her telepathic guardian voiced there concerns, Kai quickly decided that he'd have to listen to all and then answer them in order later. He his frown, however, beneath his mask when the wolf mentioned an earlier expedition. He and the mayor had done their best to make sure that the disappearance of the first investigation team spread no further than the walls of this household. Given the extraordinary nature of some of these people, however, he grudgingly admitted that it was possible they'd found out one way or another. The greater part of his intrigue solidified around the ashen figure leaning against the wall, whom nobody but Kai had seemingly noticed. With so much going on, a spare moment to accost the stranger didn't exist.

With the entrance of Levian Protego, Kai allowed his host to greet the new arrival as warmly as she was able. A brief summation of the woman on Kai's part found her to be somewhat unimpressive to the eyes, but infused by a scrappy air. He expected that she'd be able to pull her weight admirably when the time came. The same could not necessarily be said for gluttonous Aron, unless the piratical ruffian hid expert skill and conditioning beneath a grubby and odorous exterior. Kai knew the value of a technique called 'obfuscating stupidity', where an individual made himself seem nonthreatening in order to hide a truly threatening self.

His earlier concerns abated somewhat when Ash stepped forward into the limelight, carrying with him a slew of tactical knowledge, the vastness of which redeemed his untrustworthy stealthiness. Kai sampled the papers alongside Mr. Ghurst, looking over the section that contained what Ash new of the cisterns' denizens. Oversized rats, spiders, and vermin of all kind were listed, along with glistening white tentacled creatures that sucked the moss from the walls, but absent was any mention of the slime-man whose antagonist had nearly pulled Kai to a watery grave. Clearly, a great wealth of wretched things lurked below, and Kai feared that only their most mundane brethren had so far made themselves known. “Your eyes are very keen. The answer to your queries answer others as well. A previous team was, indeed, sent in. Like you I believe they are alive, and there is a good chance of you meeting them down there: Dahlia, the wood elf in brigandine, Virgil, the living weapon, Yasahiro, the healing Traveler, Wuiwomi, the blue dragon warrior, and Quick Sylva, the young astral mage. They were too good a team to simply fall prey to sewer vermin, but nevertheless we have lost contact.”

“So, it is indeed a good idea to split into two teams. I was planning to do so anyway, given the number of you, but the three of you make it all more apparent. There will be as even a split as we can make. Mr. Ghurst, your plan of action is laudable. As one large group we will descend to the lower levels, but there we will break. One team will head down, while the other enters the headquarters of the Depth Plumbers, Ebb's hydro technicians. Ms. Exeter, will you select the teams?”

Margaret, mostly silent thus for and happy to have Udo Koro Kai do most of the talking, shook her head. “It would be wiser to allow you all to choose amongst yourselves. I know from thirty years of mayoral duty that some souls simply fail to resonate, and therefore arbitrating teammates can be highly self-destructive. As...” here, she looked at her own paper, a list of those who had responded to her call for help. “Miss Helvetica said, it would be best if talent were divided. For instance, Miss Juniper and Miss Joshin on the same team would be inadvisable.”

Kai crossed his arms. “I will be joining Mr. Ghurst in the subterranean team.”

For the first time, Mancer was driven to speak. Silently absorbing all the information present had sufficed for a while, but now he was obligated to choose. “I want to remain above,” he said, his voice as confidently strident as he could make it, though slightly quavering nonetheless. While he had originally planned to state his reasons why, namely his fear that the conditions in the cisterns would profoundly affect the rate at which his decay spread, he elected to remain silent.
Crud. Well, at least I know you well enough to know that leaving a friend behind is hard on you. I'll see you around.
I'm going to go ahead and say this now in case there's any unsaid speculation. Nero does, indeed, have a thing for chubbies, but that's not his only 'thing'.
