Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

Somehow, I feel that letting the poor fellow die, would be more merciful, but I can't expect that of you, can I?

What? How come sexual related (as long as it's within the Guild's lines) be any wrong on a dark fantasy world? Ain't that a far too prudish train of thought?

I must have the wrong idea about the World of Wasted Dreams. Based on what I read about it so far and the comparison so far, I assumed (no doubt my first mistake) that we were in a world where everything is trying to kill us, madness and disease are as rampant as water and dust, and so forth.

Prudish - having or revealing a tendency to be easily shocked by matters relating to sex or nudity; excessively concerned with sexual propriety.

Yeah, that's me all over. I just thought it might be unrealistic in this unending, inexplicable, nightmarish miasma of death, rot, and torment that several characters might fall in love at first sight, dash passionately past the rat monsters and tentacle fiends, and nip off to the a nice graveyard for sexytimes.
Are we going to insert sexual fanfiction into our bloody, grim, disease-ridden monster-infested, nightmarish existential crisis story? Doesn't that seem about out as place as a My Little Pony flash game as the pre-eldritch-abomination miniboss in Bloodborne's Nightmare Frontier?
The approach of the white-haired brawler, his eerie eyes piercing the gloom with freakish emerald light, went unacknowledged and unnoticed by Otsune. Lying on the floor, curled up and shut down, fitful shivers her only movements and rough lengths of twine her only companion, she in fact needed help so incredibly obviously and badly that she could not physically ask for it. As such, when the brute jammed his booted foot into her guts, and in a bass monotone inquired as to whether or not she possibly required into assistance, he received no reply from the terrified woman. Neither did the movements of Bishop or Donny perturb her, not even when the latter collided with her in the dark and tumbled onto the rough, unkind tomb floor.

Only the explosion of costly, mercury-filled steel against the ground penetrated the veil of senselessness into which Otsune had receded. She flinched visibly when Maria wasted her bullet in an act of intimidation, which no doubt frightened the captives every bit as much as, if not more than, the mad cannibal. If Otsune still possessed eyes to hear or ears to see, she would not have regarded the deathly-pale huntress as a hero of any sort, instead another nightmarish threat, and one far more deadly than the age-stricken loon. Putting up only a slight, semiconscious resistance, she allowed herself to be rolled over and her bonds worked at. Despite the miraculous speed and deftness with which Donny undid her restraints, she remained silent and limp, each little freedom only giving her added ability to confine herself.

Once fully unbound, she lay as still as a corpse. For the first time since her rude awakening, silence settled over the room, and in this lull of tranquility the pounding of Otsune's brain began to wane. Inch by inch it gave up its stranglehold over her body, though not until her senses told her no nightmarish danger remained would they relinquish her to awaken anew and regain her lucidity. She longed for some kind of help, some sort of sign that she wasn't alone, forsaken, and lost, to use as a foundation for pulling herself together.
Looks like your offer of Amaranth for the contest has been thoroughly utilized, Kaithas. I had not expected that so many of this RP's players would be into yuri. We seem to have an inordinate amount: Amaranth, Lorena, Krysanthe, Skyra, Diamond, Estelle, possibly more. Did I attract some sort of RWBY-related fanfic group?
Working toward awesome weapons is fine by me. Though I was going to give Highball the Ravenclaw pretty quickly, there's absolutely no way she'd be a master of it for no apparent reason, so she'd start with the cane form and slowly work her way up to the other forms.

KOL, I did not intend this list for you really, it's clear you put some creativity, theming, and effort into your weapons.

Well where are crypts usually ? Graveyards or usually under churches.

@Lugubrious Who's to say Sinthe doesn't have a trick weapon ? He can hold his hands together and smash people harder with his hands, trick weapons don't have to transform, it just depends on how you use them in another way really, everyone's weapon can be a trick weapon really, Sheath a sword and you have a blunt object, turn around a rifle or grab a pistol by it's barrel and you got a club. See what I mean ?

No. You can use any weapon in a way it's not intended to be used. That doesn't make them trick weapons. By your logic my calculator could be a trick weapon. A trick weapon is something specifically designed to have more than one combat function.

<Snipped quote by Lugubrious>

You best be crediting and bringing attention to that deviant artist. I know where a lot of those weapons came from.

If I were using all of them, perhaps, but I'm actually using only one. I don't see anyone else giving credits for the people who made their character images or weapon images.

Whatever, though: Deviant User Daemonstar made all of the really cool ones. He also does League of Legends stuff. Great work dude.
So I'm looking at the current weapons we have for characters and am noticing a few trends:
Maria: Whip / Break-action pistol
Kenji: Spear / Knife
Lazar: One-handed sword / Crossbow
Bishop: Claws
Hayden: One-handed sword / Break-action pistol
Highball: Cane / Rake / Flail
Sinthe: Punchu
Donny: Axe
Paul: Cane / One-handed sword
Lillian: One-handed sword / Bow
Omen: One-handed sword / Break-action pistol
Caval: One-handed sword / Crossbow

There are some trends, obviously, but what struck me is that comparatively few people opted to go for Bloodborne-esque trick weapons. If anyone is at all interested in swapping out a current weapon for something else, or if anyone wanting to join newly would like an idea, I happen to have a few lying around for anyone to use:

Hideous, a triple-barreled, beast-themed break-action pistol with an axehead bayonet.
Labolas, triple-barreled crossbow. An agonizing reload time balances out its mighty attack power.
Beluga, a handheld break-action shotgun that fires a single, enormous shell with incredible power and recoil, enough to tear through the strongest defense and even blast down thin walls.
Lanternflail, exactly what it says on the tin. A lightsource usable for ranged bludgeoning, with the capacity to facilitate a fire user's chosen magic.
Silverlight, a large and deadly-sharp twinblade, capable of splitting into dual swords. A perfect weapon for a master of dexterity with a keen eye for flashiness and inspiring ambiance.
Fleshreaver - a trick weapon that transforms between a gruesome, giant pair of scissors and a twinscythe. More than a little ridiculous-looking, this is a niche but in the right hands grotesquely powerful weapon, perhaps best suited to a mind already half-drunk with shadow.
Ignis, a simple mace with a furnace in the head, perfect for the novice fire user who finds himself wanted to liquidize the appalling creatures he encounters. As a fight goes on, the furnace only continues to heat up, turning Ignis from a slab of metal into a miniature meteor.
Bone of Morius, a shield cobbled together from the pitiable remains of the giant Morius. When stretched, it becomes a shield capable of defending even the most passive coward, but compacted it serves as a brutal fist, a sort of bone knuckle fitted over the wielder's own fist to augment their punches.
Malice, a masterfully-crafted trick weapon capable of shifting between a high-power, two-handed crossbow and a razor-edged hook blade, though it must be restrung each time.
Sand Hunter's Claw, hailing from a foreign land, this cunning weapon fits over the user's arm and gives them fingers of steel, array-able as a single blade or three-pronged claw. Within the mechanism lies a long, thin chain that allows the claw segment to extend, turning the Claw into a deadly whip and grappling hook.
Morning Sun, a diminutive but skull-crushingly potent cudgel capable of extending into a flail. A miniature furnace within sets the flail-head alight, giving whatever unfortunate soul whose bones have been broken by the Morning Sun nasty burns as well.
The Cure - the strongest hunters in the World of Wasted Dreams find solace in weapons such as these. The Cure is a halberd, capable of cleaving through flesh and bone, with a musket tucked away in the handle to punish any who attempt to preserve their lives by fleeing beyond the halberd's effective maiming range.

ah... sorry i've been busy so haven't read through everything... did you @ me? let me check

I flubbed the mention actually. It was my fault.
Hey, we're all friends here Lugu. And the important thing (It's even in the rules) is to have fun. But water under the bridge.

More importantly, @Lugubrious, since your character is writhing in agony on the floor, perhaps Donny could stumble upon her? His heroic nature would demand that he liberate the lady, regardless of her character.

Fine by me. This is a real nitpick, but just to make sure there's no chance of misinterpretation, she's not actually going through physical pain, or even writhing anymore. She's pretty much 'shut down' at the moment, so Donny the Brave probably won't be getting a peck on the cheek for his gallantry, sadly.
My fix has been made. I thought of a way to spin it so that I don't have to rewrite my character just yet: she shuts herself off from this experience, and thus when given the chance, awakens as if for the first time. The memories of her captivity and the mad cannibal are repressed, and Otsune is free to come to her own conclusions and then more or less head on the path I prescribed for her should the situation allow.

I did not intend for this to become a controversy, particularly one that necessitated outside arbitration. Admittedly, I got so caught up in creating a cool scene and establishing shot for my character that I did not pay as much attention to logistics as I should have. What I wrote will not be wasted, though, so don't worry.
