Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

That's alright. I just hope that everyone's still hyped to get started.

The what?

I think it was a typo. He probably meant rapport
Ooh, a Jojo's RP? Color me interested. I would like to make sure that there'll be a good few players participating before joining, however.
A magical vortex swirled to life directly beneath Souta's hanging feet, which he recognized as a passage to safety even before Akoni told him because of the portal-punch maneuver performed by the old sorcerer a few minutes before. Trusting one of his more vicious allies to take full advantage of the opening he'd stuck out his neck to create, and not at all willing to accept responsibility for ditching should they not, he banished the Trawler hook currently stuck in the Abyssal's flesh and dropped unceremoniously through the gate. He landed harmlessly on a floor blackened by unnatural fire but no longer aflame, and after inwardly sighing in relief he fixated his attention on the scene above. A smug smile covered his face as he saw Mary, having escaped a potentially catastrophic multi-impalement on the creature's newly-created defenses, diving toward the exposed part with murder in her eyes. The words, ”We got it!” slipped from his lips.

Even as this favorable event unfolded, however, not everything went so fortunately. In the heat of battle, Silas failed to react fast enough to properly evade the rain of arcane spears. Nevertheless, the emissary of heaven did what he could, and by standing his ground and consolidating his defenses, he avoided lethal damage to his vitals. Still, glowing spears pierced his limbs and parts of his clothing, inflicting grievous wounds to them.

This nasty result did not garner an abundance of concern from the others. In battle, one should expect to take wounds, and Souta at least didn't imagine that such injuries would compromise his supernatural ally. All eyes were on Mary as her claws ripped into the Abyssal's hide with frightening tenacity, cleaving through the soft tissue. The shock of the pain rippled through the monster's body, causing it to utter a shrieking groan. Combined with the damage done to its tentacles, this caused it to drop. As it did, the dislodged tentacles lashed at Midori and Mary, threatening with their speed and desperate strength to crush their bones. With a crash the creature hit the floor, though legs were already sprouting from it to hoist it up. Rather than immediately counterattacking, however, it slunk to the side where melee attacks could not immediately harm it. At that moment, something became clear: this wasn't some mindless vermin that would throw itself at a target until it was paste, but something greater. It placed emphasis on survival, rather than victory. As it happened, though, this was only the beginning of the group's revelations.

Aaaah... A cavernous voice echoed through the room. It carried with it traces of fatigue and fear, but more than anything it seemed eerily deadpan, more like a detached narrator than a living being. The idea that another threat currently hid somewhere to take the envoys of the Charred Council by surprise would undoubtedly surface, but after a few seconds, the only conclusion that could be made was that this voice emanated from the Abyssal itself. That is a new kind of pain. Neither heaven nor hell quite match it. The wormlike horror's head was turned toward Akoni, Silas, Midori, Souta, and Mary, but it did not suck in. Instead, the singularity of light within beat in tune to the projected voice. This tone did not give off the impression of a person at all, or even a primal monstrosity, but rather a talking supercomputer. I wanted to pull you in and turn you to knowledge, but it would appear that you pose me a threat with this unknown power. It would satisfy my curiosity immensely to consume one of you and learn all about it, but I am more concerned with living. If you will not now leave my home of your own volition, I, Nichts, will break your minds.

The blue light within the creature suddenly increased in intensity, turning white and blanketing the whole room. Souta, who though surprised by the abomination's ability to speak still wanted to kill it and deliver it back to the Charred Citadel, hesitated. A stirring feeling was taking root inside his head. Something happened, and the smith staggered, holding one hand to his head. There was no pain, but instead a sort of pressure. Bizarrely, Souta thought about a host of new information present in his mind. He inexplicably knew, and could even name, every kind of tissue, bone, and organ in the human body. Instantly he realized that whatever this effect was had distracted him, and he steeled himself to fight. His effort went in vain, however, for his mind suddenly filled with the knowledge of how each human organ worked, as well as the systems they were part of, and he found himself knowledgeable about almost all of the elements of the common demon's body, too. Barely a second later, he realized he knew all about the woodwork and masonry of this place, what each material was, where it came from, and what else it could be used for. Souta murmured a swear and almost fell over, his head swimming. He couldn't tell whether or not similar effects were troubling his comrades, and he almost didn't care. To have so much knowledge thrust upon him threatened to overtake his mind and send him into a coma. Squinting his eyes, he wondered, is that thing doing this to us?

Out of everyone present, Souta almost certainly had the least resistance to mental attacks given his inexperience and his species. Yet, he felt that this kind of mental assault would overtake everyone. Mustering his strength, he said as coherently as he could, ”We gotta...gotta get outta here.” If he sounded drunk, it was because even more knowledge was being poured into his aching head. Images of a yellow sky beneath and a brown earth above flashed before his eyes, but he couldn't at the moment understand them.
The library fight is now, I think, holding up the whole RP. As such, I am going to move the fight ahead tomorrow morning, and it will be ended before long. My apologies for the delays.
@Prince of Seraphs Birdie wouldn't be a real villain character, I don't think. If there's a separation, he might be on the villains' side, but not fit in very well due to his nature, just as Henry would be on the heroes' side but not really fit in given his own nature. He doesn't have anything but a distant animosity for Ryu.
Even before he got near the jaw of the Abyssal monstrosity, that nerve-rattling pressure began to reach Akoni. When in the air with a trajectory affected only by the upward force of his legs, the unrelenting gravitational force emanating from his target’s mouth began to pull him nearer and nearer to annihilation. Fortunately, though, his speed and the angle from which he came prevented the force from overwhelming him, and his blade struck true. It gouged out a chunk of brownish-purple flesh, sending rivulets of gummy fluid flying, and Akoni plummeted back through his gate unharmed. A low crackling noise, rather like the fragmentation of a colossal iceberg about to splinter and fall into the sea, issued from the aberration. The freeform surface of the beast’s flesh began to twist and move again, readying an appropriate defense. To an observant onlooker, this reflexive response might have been the most terrifying thing about the creature so far; within that huge, horrible body lay some kind of tactical intelligence, capable of recognizing threats, learning from mistakes, and creating strategies to counter opponents.

The Abyssal would not be allowed much reprieve to prepare. A startling, nightmarish change consumed the huntress called Mary, turning her from an eerily beautiful and imposing human to a misshapen monster wreathed in vicious flame. The molten rock she left behind as she rushed recklessly ahead outshone the adversary’s hellfire—a testament to the nature of the Charred Council’s authority over the fires of the underworld, though in truth those blue flames were replicated and not from the Pit. Mary, literally aglow with molten power, explosively launched herself upward toward the Abyssal with enough murderous intent to cause Souta to flinch. He couldn’t imagine whether his ally would have control over her mind in such a form, and so -vulnerable as he was in his current position- instinctively tried to protect himself. Luckily for him, Mary flew for the librarian and not the smith, her claws outstretched to brutally eviscerate. In her aggression, however, she didn’t plan that her plan of attack essentially matched Akoni’s, which meant that the Abyssal’s new defenses could get to work immediately. From the aberration’s skin sprouted countless spikes, each about a foot long and barbed, but some of them outclassed the others. About five of the spikes shot forward, like blades of grass growing many times faster than possible, so that Mary would run straight into them.

Of course, these events comprised only half of the attack, but the Abyssal’s size and keen mind allowed it to engage every enemy at once. Next came Silas, whose courtesy compelled him to call out his attack and completely alert the creature to the threat. After coming out of the hallway and disgorging some fire, it hadn’t utilized its mouth again, and this seemed like a prime opportunity. Very abruptly, the front half of the Abyssal flipped around, as would a writhing inchworm after its back end had been pinned. The force with which it turned to face Silas ripped off a few of its foretentacles, in fact, but evidently the sacrifice of a few constructed limbs didn’t bother the Abyssal too much. In only a moment, the Pleiades blades were directed not at the creature’s body, but at its maw. Of course, the Abyssal didn’t anticipate that those swords could not be physically redirected by any other power, even one as unrelenting as its, and Silas would almost certainly direct his weapons away so as to keep them from vanishing into his enemy’s maw. Even though it could not consume the Pleiades, the Abyssal was inspired by the thrown weapons, and thought it might return the favor. Blue energy cascading around its mouth formed into points, and after a moment a torrential downpour of brightly-glowing spears flew Silas’ way.

Meanwhile, Midori engaged her Firebrand Trigger as well, but decided to be a bit more discreet. Since she didn’t confront the Abyssal with a direct threat, it allotted her only a cursory awareness, and she fluttered around the domed room freely. Her discretion was rewarded: no retaliations came her way as she lopped off one tentacle after another, slowly worsening the abomination’s grip on the ceiling. More tendrils grew to regain purchase, but her efforts had a definite effect. After a short while of doing this, the little demon opted to shift her plan of attack, and dove straight for it. Because she came from above, she didn’t receive the same sort of punishment Mary did, but there were still spikes to contend with. Because of the Abyssal’s irritating regenerative abilities, the wound cut into its skin by Midori tried to mend itself almost instantly, but a little bit of fire did make its way beneath the flesh. Souta, who hung not far away, saw his chance. He begun to swing back and forth using his Trawlers, building momentum, and after a short while engaged his strength to throw himself toward the damaged area. With one of the hooks he snagged the loose bit of flesh, and with a grunt of satisfaction he put his full weight behind that arm. His bodyweight attached to the strip of flesh caused it to peel away, creating a large strip without spikes that Midori could attack. A blue light bled through part of this exposed area from within. On the downside, Souta guessed that as soon as the Abyssal could spare him some attention, it would kill him. ”Well, here’s your chance. I’m gonna drop off in a sec so it doesn’t stab me. Get going!”
I don't mean to apply pressure, Prince, but in your recent post you didn't mention my second character application, Birdie. At your leisure please to review and accept or deny him.
If not for me traveling, I would post tomorrow morning. As is, I'll get it to you as soon as I can.
@Lugubrious Hey dude skip me if you don't want to wait. Dog is having issues and I rather not hold you up again. I will allow you to control Ike and Riona.

That's alright. My recent post hasn't given your characters a big call to action, so we'll be fine skipping you for now.
