Hamming It Up

Location: Robbers’ Barge, the Chasm

Party: Omori, Jesse, Rubick, Kamek, Bowser Jr.

Word Count: 4765 (+5)

Happy that his attempt at intimidation worked out, since he really didn’t need any more headaches right now, Oinkie heaved a sigh as he plodded back toward the creek-spanning bridge to the Robbers’ Barge. When he heard the disparaging snark of a new arrival behind him, however, the gang leader came to a stop, his free hand on the bridge’s guardrail. He turned around to face Rubick, his expression dour, only for his lip to start quivering. “Hey…” he whined, holding a hand over his gut reflexively. “C’mon, man. I have a disorder…”

Out of the blue, Omori took advantage of the distraction to shoot Oinkie right in the flank with an explosive blast from his flintlock, its sharp report echoing across the Chasm. “OOGH!” the big man cried, doubling over with his face scrunched up in pain. Sensing an opportunity, the Knight -not quite as defeated as it appeared to be- whipped out the nail slung across its back to jab Oinkie in his other cheek. “Owie!” he blubbered, his voice a high-pitched squeal as he reflexively dropped his prize over the railing. The Knight fell into the creek and was taken by the current, washed downstream toward a sharp, rock-filled incline. Oinkie watched him go, an anguished look on his face. “No-ho-hooo!” he whined. “Without you, my bug collection’s ruined!”

At that point Omori reached him, knife in hand to stab away at Oinkie’s belly. He cowered, blocking low, and called for help. “Maggie!” he squealed. “The kid’s crazy! Help meee!”

“Oh, brother.” Hanging her head, the trapper fired her gun. Something whizzed past Omori and planted itself in the ground behind him, where it then deployed its harpoon trap and shot the boy in his back to drag him off his target. Her pet Trapjaw stepped forward, growling hideously, but Maggie gave a low whistle to make sure her partner didn’t get involved just yet. Stab-happy or not, this kid didn’t deserve a messy end in the Trapjaw’s snaggletoothed maw, not yet at least.

Emitting a pained hiss, Omori struggled to cut and free himself from the trap. A harpoon, hah! Isn’t that some grim irony!? ”Someone go help them!” He called out to his allies, jerking his head towards the direction the Knight fell.

“On it!” Jesse shouted from the backline. She jumped the rest of the distance down the hill till she was even on the bridge. Sprinting she pushed herself off the railing and high into the air, becoming a blur as she dashed to cut the swept up bug thing up before it could get pulled away. Once in position she dropped from the sky like a stone before floating gently into the water at the last moment, and made to scoop the Knight into her arms. As it turned out, the foaming river went only about waist-deep, too deep for the bug but shallow enough that she could easily pluck him from the current before wading to safety.

Oinkie, meanwhile, had been triggered by Omori’s assault. “Shoot me when my back’s turned, will you?” he shrieked. Rolled up into a ball, he launched himself toward the boy, three hundred and thirty one pounds of destructive power. “Your bacon is COOKED!”

Ah crap. There was no way he could block that in time!

A breath before Omori was turned into paste however, there was a flash of light between him and the rolling pig as the glowing wisps instantly phased from their arrow pointing position to defend him. The statically charged incorporeal motes bundled up defensively to form, if not a barrier, then at least an electrical slow field between the boy and the pig.

The wisps succeeded in shocking Oinkie the moment before they made contact, causing his rolled-up form to pop open. Still, flailing or not, his sheer mass hit like a truck, and Omori got knocked flat as the momentum of the gang leader’s flying roll carried him onward. “Oof, ow!” he barked as he tumbled along the ground a short distance before sliding to a halt in a sitting position, facing away. He sprang to his feet, dusting himself off as he whirled around. Closest was Rubick, so the sorcerer received Oinkie’s furious glare. “You zapped me!” he accused, jabbing a finger at the wizard.

“We’ve got company!” After seeing where the wisps came from, Maggie aimed her machine pistol at Kamek and unleashed a burst of suppressive fire, trying to ward him off. This worked very well, the mage diving down behind a rocky outcrop to avoid being filled full of holes, the rush to get down there having ment he had not had time to deploy any of his usual defensive measures. This pot-shooting the mage did nothing to slow Jr’s advance however, the prince driving recklessly onwards while Mimi, clinging to her trainer’s side as the wind rushed past, employed some suppressing fire of their own via hurling an electroball at Maggie.

The trapper was not suppressed. She strafed to avoid the electro ball and turned her gunfire on Junior instead, forcing him to duck inside the clown car for cover. From inside he could hear the sharp whistle, and then the pounding of heavy footsteps. Daisy the Trapjaw slammed into the clown car strong enough to send Mimi flying from Junior’s shoulders while the young koopa himself bounced around inside his vehicle. The monster’s jaw closed around the rim of the machine with bone-crushing force, locking on, before she lifted it into the air to shake it from side to side like freshly-caught prey. Maggie, meanwhile, stopped firing the moment her pet got close to her firing line.

”Wawawawawawawa” the prince cried out in alarm as he was shaken and stirred all about, while Mimi went “miiiii” as she blasted off again.

The same situation preventing Maggie from shooting prevented any outside help for Jr, or so it would seem. Fortunately he had his own help, with the prince crying out ”Goombas! Help!” and summoning a pile off the squat little mooks all around the alien, who they immediately swarmed, point blank charge distance and overwhelming numbers making them not as useless as they normally were.

If supporting jr from range would have been tricky before, the goomba swarm made it quite impossible. Which left shooter vs shooter as Kamek reemerged from cover, the mage taking to the air surrounded by a shimmering barrier as he raced closer to Jr, while a duo of Rika clones he had summoned stepped up onto vantage points and began a bombardment of Maggie’s position from the highground. Without any cover of her own, the trapper could only grit her teeth and sprint for the nearest outcropping, whistling at Daisy as she did. The Trapjaw slammed the clown car into the ground and made a break for it, tearing out of the goomba pile to follow her master. Both took a few painful shots in so doing, but Maggie dropped a couple harpoon traps as she ran.

Normally Oinkie would be only too happy to flee from any fight that looked too risky, but once attacked even he couldn’t back down. If all these newcomers were together, things could get messy. Having heard his associate’s callout, the big man glared over at Kamek, then again at Rubick as he started to run back over. “You stay out of this!” he warned, his voice shrill.

Rubick had been watching the scene unfold, thoroughly amused at how ferocious Omori was being. Rubick then scoffed, offended that Oinkie would accuse him of a crime he didn’t commit. But to be fair, his own motes were still floating around him, making a fairly solid case against him. In the end, Rubick decided that if he was going to be accused in such a manner, he might as well make it true. “Well, if that’s it’s going to be, then so be it!” Rubick said, ignoring his warning. He began to manipulate a few motes to zip around Oinkie’s head, zapping him constantly, while leaving a few more a bit farther away to charge up more powerful bolts and zap him accordingly.

On Omori’s end, Kamek’s intervention did little to slow Oinkie’s momentum, and the resulting collision knocked him flat on his back. Gritting his teeth he suppressed a pained yell as the harpoon incidentally sunk further into his back. He stumbled back onto his feet regardless to see the gang leader running back to finish the job, only to be waylaid by Rubick and Kamek’s motes. ”Pathetic, this is what passes for bandits around here? Much less a leader?? You sicken me.” He didn’t know how much damage those things were doing to him, but the boy used Mock in turn, the four red hands circling Oinkie in a taunting fashion before going in for a strike.

Oinkie, however, had been busy. After being surrounded by annoying sparks, he closed his fists and pulled them into his pits, then adopted a side-facing fighting stance with his front hand open and back hand closed. “Yah! Yah! Yah-yah-yah-YAH!” He punched at the motes with impressive speed, striking -and getting shocked by- each in quick succession before sweeping them all away with a spinning crescent kick. Before they could close in again the big man zeroed in on Rubick, only for Omori’s Mock to warrant his attention. Before the boy could even begin to close the distance, Oinkie came to meet him instead. “Comin’ atcha!” Moving with unnatural fluidity, he performed a back-turn flying side kick and went straight into a four-hit combo of snap kick, right palm, left palm, and spin kick. He rushed Omori down without rest, powering through anything that came his way.

Omori was forced to evade. Whatever gunfire or knife wounds struck, or even the red hands he only had regained partial control over, was being shrugged off like it was nothing. He may be tanking the onslaught, but it was only a matter of time before he couldn’t take much more of it.

“Tough little snot!” Oinkie snapped. “How about this?” The canister-like devices arrayed along his spine suddenly plunged in, and in a surge of green light he transformed into a nine-foot-eight, seven hundred seventy two-pound scaly mutant to deliver a revolving backhand strike strong enough to lift Omori off his feet and send him off into the scenery. Gas vented from his devices as he shrank back down, returning to normal with a smirk. “Home run!”

Jesse had waded over to shore and set the Knight down. “Don’t worry you…person. I gotcha.” She produced a Friend Heart. “This should do it.” She wasn’t quite sure how to do it properly, so she just ended up holding it with two fingers and lowering it into the Knight’s form. She glanced over at the fight and- she swore she only looked away for two seconds- shit had gotten real.

Before Omori could be thrown too far, however, he suddenly stopped in midair. Rubick’s staff was raised, having casted his Telekinesis on the boy to keep him near the battle. “Remarkable strength you have,” Rubick said to Oinkie, dropping Omori onto the ground. “Let’s see if it can overcome a magus.” Wiggles also took the opportunity to leap down to the ground and dash towards Oinkie, climbing up onto the large man’s head and attacking his face, attempting to obscure his vision and just be a nuisance in general. Of course, the Striker timed out after just a moment spent attacking, and disappeared.

That just left Oinkie, who now ran straight toward Rubick, pumping his arms as he came. “One-two-one-two-one-two-one…” With his eyes protected from the scratch of little paws by his mask, he could get his bearings well enough to launch another flying kick the sorcerer’s way.

Rubick hadn’t been expecting much of the striker’s performance, yet he was still disappointed by it. Reaching into his robes and grabbing hold of his Blink Dagger, Rubick teleported away in a puff of blue particles. He reappeared on top of a nearby pillar of rock, where he’d hopefully be safe from Oinkie’s wrath for the time being. Yet, there was a little part of him that couldn’t resist a final response, and had Rubick taunt Oinkie, “What did you hope to gain from that? Ho ho ho ho!

Breathing heavily, Oinkie slid to a stop in the dust, his head snapping toward the taunt. “Slippery bastard!” He ran toward Rubick again. “Hold still so I can pound you!” His injectors slammed down, pumping him full of The Juice to mutate him again. He smashed the pillar with a colossal shoulder barge, which shook violently beneath his opponent’s feet. One more strike like that and the rock rider wouldn’t be able to stay upright.

Taking advantage of Rubick’s assist and distraction (and making a mental note that he owed the mage for this), Omori pulled out one of his snacks at random and chomped down on it to regain a bit of health. He then attempted to pull the harpoon out of his back as he noticed Oinkie had mutated again, and was trying to knock the magus off of the pillar he perched on. Dang, this guy was annoying. The boy grabbed his Boltok Pistol and fired a couple of rounds at Oinkie’s back. If not to divert his attention away from Rubick, then to divert his attention from someone else.

Jesse was downhill, her pants drenched with water. Hearing the commotion but not quite seeing the battle, she pushed off the ground and quickly rose high in the air, even with the top of the hill she had just jumped down. Uh, okay, the big guy got bigger. She thought. She switched her Service Weapon to Pierce, the long ranged sniper Mode of her pistol. It was perfect for big targets who were resistant to damage and capable of taking a lot of it. The Service Weapon’s barrel had split into four, creating an ominous X. Lining up her gun at Oinkie, the shifting pieces of the X lit up red as she charged up her shot. There was a sharp pinging noise and a snapshot of light as Pierce reached full power. She aimed it towards his upper body, not wanting to risk missing a headshot. Then she released the trigger, unleashing the powerful psychic bullet towards him with a deep, resounding boom. The red hot bullet would reach him in an instant, passing through and out the other side where it would likely tunnel into some rocky surface before eventually coming to a stop.

“Ow.” The Boltok shots to his meaty, scaly back didn’t do much damage to Oinkie, but they stung. After a second mighty shoulder barge that would hopefully knock Rubick down off his high horse he turned to take care of Omori properly, only to be struck as if by lightning. “DAAAAGH!” he cried out, driven against the outcrop a third time by the residual force of the sniper shot as it cut through him -and the pillar- like butter. He clamped both hands on the hole in the right side of his chest as he shrank back down to human, then crumpled onto the ground. Jesse confirmed he was down and dropped from the air, making the rest of the ascent uphill on foot. Meanwhile, Rubick wasn’t worried about falling. With a simple cast of Telekinesis, Rubick could continue to hover in midair. He laughed at Oinkie’s efforts as he mockingly waved from above.

A moment later, machine pistol fire crackled across the battleground. Moving swiftly between large rocks and trees, Maggie sprayed at anyone she got a bead on, throwing down harpoon traps among the stones every so often to make approaching her a real problem. Her companion Daisy, meanwhile, had other orders. She circled around through the pushes toward where Oinkie had been downed, and once in the clear she bounded over his side to lick him again and again with her enormous tongue. Jesse peeked up from where she was crouched behind the crest of the hill. “Aw.” She said sympathetically.

Jr and Kamek (the prince having recalled mimi to her pokeball to rest) were hot in pursuit, flying high above the detection radius of the harpoon traps so as to avoid a repeat of the first encounter they’d had with them (the result of which was presently sticking out of jr’s clown car). Kamek, a quartet of identical clones and the young prince himself, were all hucking fireballs down at the fleeing huntress. While they weren't exactly the best shots, when the football sized fire orbs hit the ground they stayed dangerous due to bouncing along it a half dozen times. With the rate they were tossing them out, this created a chaotic wave of projectiles bouncing all around the huntress which, even if not a single one hit, still forced her to focus on evasion instead of taking potshots at the others. At least, that was the theory; in practice, fireballs traveled a lot slower and less reliably than bullets, and when the Koopas tried to flush Maggie out with them they got a smattering of gunfire for their efforts.

The Service Weapon recombined into its traditional, versatile grip function in Jesse’s grasp. She kept her head low, and eyed the harpoon traps suspiciously. “What are those things?” She asked the others as she began popping off shots in Maggie’s direction.

“Those pointy looking things?” She clarified her question.

“...That the person with the machine gun is putting down.” She clarified again, just to be sure, and ducked down into cover as her Service Weapon recharged.

”Harpoon! Keep your distance!” Was all Omori said to answer her question, as he moved in towards where Daisy and Oinkie were. Even with Maggie distracted, he had to be careful not to draw her attention or set off any more traps, lest he get stabbed again, to his thinly veiled annoyance. He just needed to get close enough to administer a Friend Heart…

Before Omori got in range, Daisy finished reviving Oinkie, and the big man sprang to his feet flexing his arms. “Back in the game!” he exclaimed, only to fall silent and blink a few times behind his goggles as he held the pose, the Trapjaw’s slobber slowly dripping off his face.

“....I’m fuckin’ outta here!” Oinkie turned tail and ran as fast as his legs could carry him, pumping his arms. “One-two-one-two-one-two-one!” Daisy bounded along at his heels, and together they left a trail of dust behind them. Taken aback, Maggie paused just long enough for her boss to grab her around the middle as he sprinted by. She could do little but give an exasperated groan as the elites of the Oinkie Gang beat a hasty retreat, fleeing past the Robbers’ Barge and into the distance.

They…fled? A dumbfounded look took place in the boy’s features. Sure he didn’t realize the creature’s intentions, but weren’t they still gleaming? Or really, shouldn’t they be forced to fight to the death or something?? Omori scratched the back of his head as he mulled over what had happened, but then decided not to think too much on it. This was just another group of crooks scared off. He looked around for the small Knight, then went over to check on them.

”Ok, which of you numbskulls needs healing?” Jr asked as he hovered down to join them in his rather beaten up clown car, followed by Kamek and a smaller nimble of clones than the mage had started out with, the doppelganger decoys having served their purpose well.

”Is everyone alright?" the mage asked, before also adding additional queries in quick succession ”and what was all that about? Also who is this?” regarding the whole incident.

The Service Weapon vanished from her hand as she watched the bullies flee. “Well, that outcome works for me.” She said, being a busy woman. “Omori was just walking down when they tried to, I dunno, ‘poach’ that little guy. So, it turned into a firefight. It was either that, walk away, or...some third diplomatic option that I can't think of." Jesse shrugged. “I think Omori could use some magic heal juice moved his way. Pretty brave to challenge some guy four times your size.”

Now that the excitement died down, Rubick was finally able to land on the ground again. “Indeed,” Rubick agreed with Jesse. “It was very reckless, but oh so enjoyable to spectate.

”He said something about a ‘bug collection’. Considering some of the residents in Dirtmouth are bugs like… Hm, got a name, bud?” Omori asked the Knight who said nothing in response, before continuing to talk. ”Well, regardless, I wasn’t willing to let the little thing be their hostage. Or worse off. Was even intending to free Oinkie out of pity.” With one last tug, the harpoon wedged in his back was removed with a pained grunt. The boy gave it a look, before tossing it aside. ”That guy was a pain to fight head on.”

Jesse cast her eyes towards the Robber’s Barge.

”I would say we have been advised that simply staying clear of the resident bandits is enough to avoid trouble, but I am getting the impression you won’t be taking that advice to heart?” Kamek said with a sigh, while a grumbling jr hopped out of his car and got to work helping Omori out with just a whole lot of under his breath grumbling involved, starting by yanking the harpoon free and then jabbing a paintbrush and a healing spell in his direction. The boy’s combination of stab wound, blunt force, and whiplash from being halted mid-flight by Rubick’s telekinesis meant he’d be feeling this fight for a while.

Now where would be the fun in that?” Rubick responded to Kamek, tilting his head at him. He was currently having the time of his life, and after the mind-numbingly boring train ride, he had desperately needed it.

“You’re probably not gonna like the next question I ask, then.” She said to Kamek. Jesse glanced towards the rescued bug creature. “There anyone else in need of rescue there, little guy?” She asked the Knight.

The small bug rested a hand under their chin in thought. Was there anything they missed during their escape? They quietly glanced back at the barge. With Oinkie’s gang out of the way, and new allies at that, perhaps it wouldn’t hurt to take a second look. The Knight looked to the gathered group, motioning for them to wait, before they crossed the bridge again to take a peek inside the building. Omori stayed close by just in case.

By now, half a dozen strangers had amassed along the barge’s upper railing to join the armed guards in watching the fight that went down on their hangout’s doorstep. With the firepower and numbers displayed by the newcomers, weapons were very much in evidence among the gallery of rogues. None of them lifted a finger to help Oinkie, maybe deciding that his messes were his to clean up, but when the Seekers’ attention drifted their way the lot of them began to bristle.

The Knight’s return, however, prompted confusion. “Huh? You’re actually comin’ back?” The dude who’d been first out to watch the scrap adjusted his stylish glasses, making sure he was seeing things right. Incredulous, he furrowed his brow at the others hanging back across the bridge. “Hey, don’t look at us funny! We got nothin’ to do with that guy!” He jabbed a thumb in the direction that Oinkie ran.

The purple-haired swordswoman sitting next to him perked up a little. “I mean, if you lot don’t want it, we could really use the money! Bug-collectin’ don’t exactly pay well, but it’s better than grubbin’ around the caves for Geo!”

Her friend put a cautionary hand on her shoulder and lifted his other in a placating manner. “Uh, heheh, but hey, if you guys want it though, it’s all yours! I’m just an athlete for cryin’ out loud, I ain’t gonna argue with people with guns!” He hissed the last couple words through his teeth to make sure his friend got the memo. “You neither, right Malice?”

Hanging her head, the mercenary sighed, deflated by the reality of being sorely outgunned. “Maaan…”

The knight glanced back and forth between the two as they spoke, assuming they weren’t aware they weren’t defenseless either, then looked over their shoulder to the others. They shrugged, as if to say “They are not dangerous.” Then the bug simply walked back over next to Omori.

”Not like I’ll let you take ‘em either, but looks like they already made up their mind.” The boy spoke up, still feeling sore despite the extra healing from Junior. He furrowed his brows. ”You won’t be trying to ambush us as we leave, right?” He and his new companion both stared the collective of strangers down.

While the little guys didn’t exactly cut the most intimidating figure, the fact that so many inexplicably turned up to fight for the Knight’s freedom forced the disorganized barge-goers to take Omori seriously. As the guards stared down, stony-faced, and the pink-and-purple duo looked away, one of the silent watchers stepped forward, his spurs clinking. With his blue mutton chops, big white hat, and self-awarded badge, Lonestar was an odd lawman for such a lawless land, but he cut an imposing figure. “Aw, now don’t get yer lasso in a twist, son,” the squat, broad-shouldered cowboy drawled through his cigar. “No need for any wranglin’ on my barge when we ain’t got any beef.” He leaned sideways on the railing, staring down with beady red eyes. “Just mind your own business, and we’ll mind ours, nice an’ easy.”

Omori stayed quiet for a moment longer, before his expression defaulted back to indifference. ”Then there’s no reason to waste any more time here.” The monochrome duo walked away from the barge, making sure the others caught up as they continued down the path to the Under.

As the new member of their group walked away, apparently satisfied, Jesse shrugged. “Just make sure Oinkie’s learned his lesson, all right?” She said, before turning and following them.

”Ah good, so we are taking my advice then,” Kamek said with a little sigh of relief, before taking off to go intercept Bowser and Rika before they came charging in uninformed and stirred things right back up again. Rubick slumped his shoulders and looked down, disappointed at the prospect. The fun would have to come another time.

Jr meanwhile was sulking a bit about not even being thanked for his efforts or timely medical assistance. Especially seeing as his car was all beat up now, and soooomeone had thoughtlessly run off with his magical repairing hammer and so he was going to have to do the repairs the old fashioned way.

He was stomping over to the car, ready to just pick it up and haul it somewhere safe, when he took one last look at the goons to make sure they weren't trying anything while the group were clearing out, and spotted just the bloodiest mess of a person sat on the roof–the Adventurer.

”Ew, gross,” the boy said, before looking away. Then he had another thought, picked up his brush and pointed it up at the guy. ”Hey you! Get healed!” and casting Cure on him, surrounding the guy in green restorative light.

The prince nodded to himself, planted the butt of his brush on the ground and then called up ”Now thank me for healing you!” demanding praise for his efforts.

Omori trekked down the side of the Chasm, Jesse and Rubick in tow. He had forgotten to answer the former's question about him being here before, but if the focused yet unfearful way he passed by the campsites of vagabonds and bandits was anything to go by, then he definitely made a stop here. Strangely enough there didn't seem to be any active bandits down this route, not this time at least. Either they must be busy elsewhere or he scared them off. Sucks to be them, he guessed.

At one point did he stop to take a look at something he must've missed. A shady looking barge-building-thing. The boy glanced over at the armed guards patroling the building. Whatever the case was, he had other buisness to take care off besides investigating it. Might wanna keep your distance-

Before Omori could walk off however, something seemed to be happening inside. He could hear it from over where he was. But what was going on? The very answer broke a hole through one of the walls and sprinted across the bridge. Someone was escaping. He watched as a repungnant collective of gang members appeared to witness the pursuit, their potbellied leader and a woman with a much larger creature than Mewo being the only ones to chase after them.

And for some reason, the small, hollow eyed creature stopped in front of him. Omori looked down at them as much as they looked back up at him. He titled his head in response, and they mirrored his movement. Why did they stop? He wouldn't get an answer. The boy flinched as the little bug's slip up gave the hunters their opporunity to seize them. Feeling the harpoon latch itself into their mask, they struggled to release themself, though not before its main captor grabbed them from the trap, spoutting an indignant warning to Omori. He really did want to free them as quick as possible, but it was too little, too late when Oinkie approached. Did he really want to face a whole gangs worth of enemies by himself?

And yet, as the pale bug struggled against Oinkie's grip, they stared back at him as if pleading for him to help. A red tainted void.

...He had to admit, Omori couldn't leave the poor thing to their fate. He motioned for Mewo to hide. And apparently he wasn't alone in this either. Rubick's comment towards Oinkie caught his attention first, then he noticed that Jesse followed him too. The boy nodded to them, but no doubt Rubick will have riled the gang leader up. As his hand reached for a weapon, he noticed the troop closing in from a distance, an angered Junior leading the way.

Omori furrowed his brows in response. Great. Just great. He hadn't even done anything on purpose yet, but he could bet Junior was going to use this to antagonize him further. What was he supposed to do? Leave the little bug to die?

Ugh, he hated situations like this. And he was starting to really hate the brat too.

But you know what? If the little runt wanted to make a monster out of him? Fine. He gave the Troop a knowing, spiteful look. Omori's flintlock hadn't been fired since they weakened LeFwee.

"Cover me." He pulled the aformentioned pistol out and fired it at Oinkie, paying mind not to let the captive get hurt too badly. He can quickly free them with a friend heart if things get too nuts. He'd quickly switch to his serrated knife afterwards and follow up with a stab in the pig-faced leader's gut.
Oooooh. That makes sense.

As it turns out, Mewo was sitting up above the entrance to the train, waiting on him. Omori motioned for her to climb down, and the two shambled into the car. He flopped down onto the nearest seat and allowed his pet to climb onto his lap. He was lucky he wore black. The blood would be a pain to clean out. The two watched the rest of the team scramble into the train, and before Omori could reach into his backpack (Which luckily didn't get bloodied) for any snacks to heal himself, Junior took the initiative to heal everyone. Even him.

"...Thanks."

"Meow. (Thank you.)"

The two thanked the prince. If anyone asked about the sudden appearance of a black cat, Omori would hold Mewo up and simply introduce her with: "Mewo." But for most of the trip, the boy rested his eyes.

Though as it slowly turned out, their destination was not deep underground. As the team climbed out from the station, Omori's eyes widened slightly in recognition, and he quickly walked out in front of the rest. He turned around to face the rest of the team.

"Welcome to....Dirtmouth."

Of course, the introduction was botched when the Koopa Troop rudely eagerly passed the Elderbug and towards the Chasm, while the Octo Duo went about to get information themselves, more than ready to get to work. Omori's expression was nothing short of unamusement. He sighed, reaching down to pet Mewo, who was rubbing up against his leg. "Feel free to look around." Was all he said before he stepped away to talk with Elderbug, the cat following behind.

After a moment, Omori joined the rest overseeing the Chasm. "Nice view, isn't it?" He attempted to break the ice, before noticing that Kamek and Rika were already trying to scout out the area. Well, he was tempted to suggest they could take the route he took, but something told him not to.

So without a word he went on ahead of them, not sparing a minute to wait as he followed the same path he took before. If anyone was willing to follow him, he wouldn't complain.

A wall of fire caused her to stumble into Suzuya. The wolf's eyes widened. "ARE YOU NUTS?!"

Lupin tried to struggle out of her grasp then, when they colided. Only half-heartedly paying attention to everything else. God, why did so many thing happen at once like some constant domino effect? Or more importantly, was it not in her nature to have better senses to process this fresh hell? Or was it Celina having a hard time right now? Sure, go ahead, lock the bitch up. Not like she'll squawk unless they did something despicable.

They're probably going to try and redeem her regardless of if she can reverse this hell. What doormats... Lupin mentally rolled her eyes, barely phased by the sprinklers. At least, until the school counselor apparently reprimanded both her and Suzuya. "Wait-" She faintly flinched at the contact of a wet post-it note against her forehead. A week of counseling unless they hugged it out?? "Wait wait wait, why are you-"

The wolf was interrupted again when the fox begrudgingly hugged her, and left without another word. The final nail in the coffin, so to speak. And yet as she stood there dumbfounded by, well, everything, maybe she could pry someone else out of their proverbial coffin.

"Fuckin'...Ma'am, wait!" Celina spoke up to Mika, maybe before she left. "Don't drag 'er into this, she was just trying to," She groaned. "make sure...I don't do something stupid. Go ahead and drag me to your office, I probably need it, but could you throw 'er a bone? Atleast once?" She frowned.

Regardless of Oros' answer, Celina would spot Silvia hiding under one of the tables. After a moment of concideration, she walked up next to the table and, kneeling down to her level, quickly untransformed and covered the apathetic girl with her jacket.

"Come on, you look like hell..." Celina softly offered to help her back to her dorm. Hopefully Silvia wouldn't get sick from the artifical rain.

Besides, the blonde herself should probably go take a shower before she started smelling like wet dog.

...

..

"...Hm?"

Back at her dorm, dried and getting ready to pass out soon as she collapsed onto her bed, Celina picked up the letter that was slipped under the door. Someone invited her to a sleepover, huh? She didn't know how the others would react to her being there, after her uncharacteristic outburst earlier. Maybe they'll have food? Celina snorted to herself. She could probably use that as a bullshit excuse.

Ah well, she'll decided in the morning.

Current Location: Precinct #11

Undeterred by the locusts that dared to step in his path, the Timekeeper had ascended the behemoth. He didn't even realize someone had assisted him as he sliced through the insects and reached the Diver's shoulders. When his melody's duration ended he desperately reached towards it's head and stabbed his weapon into it's jaw. Sure. The fact that the damn thing didn't bleed would be a cause for concern. But it wasn't like the Crab Rave bled either. It simply escaped his train of thought. No, all that Finn was concered about right now is just...

To have something go right for once?

To give the Diver what absolute hell he could muster, that should've been for Justin?

To make sure no one else dies in this fight?

Who knew. He just wanted this to end.

So as spell number nine was in effect, the Timekeeper stabbed and slashed at the Holy Diver again, and again, and again, aiming for the jaw, the ear, the eyes, even up towards the brain. He eventually settled on it's neck. It couldn't function without a head, could it? Yeah. The brain and the heart were vital organs, and from where he was, he couldn't exactly execute the Diver by his usual methods. But did it matter?

Time grows short, and shorter still.

The rest of the battle fell upon deaf ears.

He was so tired.

Let this be it. Please.

Small-ish collab with Jesse in the second half @Zoey Boey

Once Omori was done with his turn; eloquently pulling his lower eyelid down and sticking his tongue out back at Junior in response, he quietly sat out the rest of the introductions. The skepticism and concerns (and ire, in the Bowsers' case) for someone so innocuous looking being involved in this fight aside, one of the last two to introduce themselves mentioned something interesting. The blonde in pink, Bede, called himself a pokemon trainer. One who specializes in "fairy" types, despite having "psychic" types at the moment. So those thing Junior had were called pokemon? It'd explain the quick fanboying Bede did once the little runt brought them out. Besides that, he was even more ordinary than the monochrome boy himself, if not as prideful as Karin flamboyant. Omori couldn't help feeling a bit of empathy for the trainer.

Then, it seemed one of Bede's pokemon finally found him. A baby unicorn, with a fluffy purple and blue mane and tail. It reminded Omori of cotton candy. Ponyta, huh? Looked like something out of Headspace. Curious, Omori walked over to carefully pet the pokemon. He didn't want to spook it after all. Now that introductions were settled, the next thing they had to do was set up a picnic for lunch.

Well that made Omori perk up a bit! Mari's picnics were always the best. Though, he was broke at the moment. So he had to ask Peach for some coins. Not only to help with the picnic, but to also get himself some long-overdue equipment for the road ahead. He already had more than enough weapons, and the tulip hairstick has done him well so far, so his main concern was set on health items. Whether that'd be snacks for later or health potions, Omori would run out of inventory space eventually. So he made another stop to buy himself a big enough pack to store the extra stuff in.

With whatever money he had left, he also made one last stop to get some extra layers to his outfit, a black raincoat with cat ears, and some matching rain boots. It might not have been much, but at least it was practical. Once everyone was all set, Omori quietly ate as he took in whatever info he could from the ongoing conversations. So they'll be splitting up again? All signs pointed to Dystopiascape as one of the next places to investigate.

But then they also agreed on going to the Under. Somewhere Omori was, to an extent, familiar with. Yet he had never went too far deep into the chasm. Now was his chance to see what hid in the depths! Though he had some reservations, he ultimately decided to stick with his choice. And admittedly? It sucked that he had to part ways with Pit for now. "Just be careful, okay?" Was what he said to the angel.

...Black Line, Purple Line. How ironic, though only to himself.

He was still curious about something. And it turns out, Roxas and Geralt were too! Omori looked over to Bede and his pokemon, speaking up with his own questions in between the other two's. More specifically, he wanted to know more about the type Bede specialized in, and anything about other types.

Maybe because he wanted to get one himself.

Their eventual conversation would be interrupted when Junior and Midna brought in a small arsenal of weapons and vehicles. Omori hadn't exactly learned how to drive yet, so he focused more on rummaging through the weapons. He eventually settled on a pair of knives and a spare pistol, along with whatever ammo for it he could get. He organized his inventory accordingly; his smaller weapons could stay in his pockets for now, while the larger ones were carefully stuffed into his pack, then nodded to the two in thanks.

And then, it was off to the Metro.
Perhaps it was fate that he bought a cat-eared coat. This place was nuts! Omori followed behind Nadia, head darting around with an excited gleam in his eye as the group made their way through the Nyakuza Metro. Everywhere he looked, cats, cats, CATS! He wished they had time to explore besides a passing glance, nearly bumping into the feral when she spotted a jewlery store. He was lagging behind a bit too, but soon, for another reason.

Omori had spotted a familiar blob of darkness, laying next to a red-striped kitten. His eyes widened slightly.

"Mewo?"

The former's ears perked up at her name being called. Mewo sat up and looked around, her eyes settling on the familiar face of a fellow Whitespace resident. "Meow?" The black cat stretched as she stood up, accidentally catching the attention of the Litten next to her, and walked over to Omori. The boy took a couple of steps to her and reached a hand out to pet Mewo. His mouth quirked up into a smile. "Sorry for the wait." He apologized, nodding to the other cat in thanks for looking after Mewo before picking her up and hurring back to the others.

The litten watched the two head off with half-lidded eyes. Curious. Maybe it could follow them?

...Nah.

Besides, it'd be best not to get involved in what was to come.

Apparently the teams had to get train passes first. And to do that, they had to collect small green capsules with gems in them called pons. Seems easy enough.

Aaand then someone ordered a hit on them. And the other one, looked eerily similar to Consul S...

As the ground shook, Omori slowly turned his head in dread to see a tide of black barreling down towards them. He didn't need to be told to run. Arms protectively wrapped around Mewo, he sprinted off to follow the rest of "Purple Team". The way the Metro Cats flooded the area was sort of like a game of The Floor is Lava, so that was what he'd treat it as, leaning more on the evasive as he prioritized escape over fighting.

The generic goons that broke off from the tide to try and attack him were easy to handle. For the ones Omori wasn't able to juke, the boy quickly drew out his combat knife to stab them in non-lethal areas, then kick them away from him and Mewo, forcing them back. Though, as the intervention of the Metro's elites slowly made itself known it was only a matter of time before Omori would be forced to fight for real.

If only he had a way to bypass all the cats blocking the gate, like Nadia. Welp, no beating around the bush now.

"Follow them. Head to the train, I'll meet you there!" Omori quickly told Mewo before setting her down, allowing her to sprint through to the entrance to the Purple Station. The black cat spared one more look at her owner before searching for another way in.

Omori eyed the two cat-eared guards and their large sum of Metro lackeys as he approached the entrance, keeping out of sight. He did suffer a few minor scraps so far, but if that combination of a drill and a saw the darker haired one was holding any indicator?

This was gonna suck.

Meanwhile...Jesse Faden had been pretty busy. When the cats came, she put things together pretty quick. Traversal was easy for her, and she was able to keep above the crowds and out of harms way. She Levitated through the air, using bursts of evasive speed to avoid getting predicted. A couple groups of bold metro cats attempted to descend on her from above. One almost landed on her but she dismissed it with a forceful shove of her mind, and the others she just moved out of the way of, leaving them to a hard impact.

As she got closer and closer to the Purple Line gate, hopping off high places and pushing herself through the air, she realised it still wasn't open. Not only that, it was being guarded. Two powerful looking feline foes. Broca and Haze guarded the way. Broca was a strong looking fellow equipped with a sword, while Haze seemed to be some kind of caster with a magic book. Unfortunately for everyone involved, Jesse needed that door open if the Seekers were to maxmize the chances of escape.

From Omori's right, Jesse descended from above. She didn't seem to notice him. Her pistol changed into the shape of a spinning barrel and she unloaded a fussilade of gun fire the chewed at the floor and sent the Metro Cats scrambling for cover. For the two cats that didn't retreat, she regarded them coolly.

"Get out of my way- I can't afford to hold back." Jesse said simply.

"Let's get this over with," Broca said, levelling his technologically advanced sword.

"You think you're all that, huh?" Haze rebuked, her book flying open by itself and magic lighting up her eyes.

Jesse frowned and prepared to fight, switching her gun back to its basic but versatile Grip mode. She fired upon Broca, but he proved tough, blocking her shots with his sword as he advanced. Meanwhile, bolts of red light flung Jesse's way at regular intervals, causing the Director to sprint to the side to avoid them. Broca would have closed the gap, but she turned her gun on Haze, and he was forced to interpose himself between Haze and Jesse lest he leave his caster unprotected.

"This won't hurt for long." He promised Jesse. Briefly raising her eyebrows, she ripped a heavy glowing light attached on a nearby wall and flung it at him. He blocked it but was knocked aside as a result. Before she could fire at him, Haze sent more bolts her way, causing Jesse to duck and move to the side. It seemed like the Director was leaning at impossibly steep angles as she strafed and changed her movement patterns, but she was just keeping herself up with Levitation.

Omori had taken a moment to observe the fight, swapping out his combat knife for his gunblade, Revolver. It was some luck Jesse cleared out the Metro cats, but like heck he was going to let her fight alone. Seeing Broca get knocked aside, the boy rushed out of his hiding spot to ambush him. Only for Haze to see him approaching.

"Broca, don't let your guard down!"

Hearing the witch's warning, Broca turn his head around to see the hooded boy. "Tch." Gritting his teeth, he swung his industrial weapon at Omori's direction, and the saw blade clashed against the other's in a burst of sparks. Looks like Haze was stuck dealing with the red-haired broad alone.

Jesse saw Omori's help out of the corner of her eye. Before she could help, a bolt struck her in the chest, knocking Jesse over. She floated back to her feet and returned fire. Haze was in a predicament. "Black Mist!" From her book there was an explosion of, aptly, black mist. Like a dark smoke grenade, Jesse lost visual on Haze as more bolts came out of the mist, faster and more powerful than before. Jesse took to the air and began evading, once again switching her Service Weapon to Spin. She coated the mist cloud with machine gun fire, and she heard a shot connect and the bolts stopped. Hard to place foot steps led Jesse to believe Haze was looking for cover.

The Metro Cats must have thought Omori looked vulnerable going up against Broca on the ground, and they gathered to jump him. Jesse fired overhead, blasting up the concrete infront of the cats to scare them off. "One more time and I'm aiming for you!" She threatened the cats as she Levitated towards Broca and Omori. She switched to Grip and started to line up a shot on Broca, as well.

At that point did the two truly start trading blows with each other. Deeper cuts than what the Metro cats could even try to do could be seen bleeding into Omori's hoodie, mainly cutting across his chest, arms, and Broca even managed to graze him in the face. Not like the buzzsaw wielding Feline was getting through unscathed either. With the boy quickly learning what the gun part of Revolver could do, Omori kept an eye on any openings to trigger a shockwave round through the blade. Though it was rather difficult with how bulky his opponent's weapon was.

"You aren't half bad."

"Wish I could say the same for you." The boy responded in a mocking tone, bounding back a small distance to send what looked like four red hands out to circle Broca, before striking into him, just as painful as knives. With a pained grunt, the two exchanged glares. "Drop dead already." Broca's weapon sparked to life with electricity, while in anticipation of his next move, Omori casted Sad Poem on himself to regain his defense, the silhouette of a blue book appearing closer in front of the monochrome youth.

Jesse dashed forward in the air and fired bullets into Broca's back before he could begin his offense. They sunk into him, dealing big damage, but he could still fight. He whirled and slashed his drill at Jesse, and even though she was well above the electric arc extended outward and caught her by surprise. Struck by lightning she dropped to the ground, but Evaded to the side, her Health protecting her from serious damage. Strafing, she fired more pistol shots in his direction to keep his attention. She noticed that she was slower for a second, the lightning constricting the muscles in her limbs.

She had to act fast to keep Haze off her. Diverting her fire from Broca, she used her off hand to fling a dumpster at Haze, causing her to retreat back into cover around a building. "Acid!" She called out, and Uncle Sven appeared to toss a vial of acid where Haze was hiding, forcing her back even further as her feet were burned and the pool of deadly liquid threatened her approach. Frustrated, took a flanking route and prepared her ultimate, though risky move, Crimson Eyes.

Looks like the heat was off Omori, but for how long?

As Jesse was flung down to the ground, the boy searched his pockets for his flintlock. From what he knew, it should still be loaded since they took down LeFwee. If he could just get close enough, he could hopefully deal enough damage to friend heart the Feline.

Though of course, he wouldn't have time to.

Omori narrowly dodged a couple of bolts Haze had begun firing at him instead. Right. He forgot she existed. With Broca having turned his sights on Jesse, Omori pulled out his other pistol and opened fire on the witch, running to find cover. The two were locked in a shootout.

As Omori and Haze engaged, Jesse felt confident enough to give Broca her undivided attention. No doubt he aimed to close the gap now that she was on the ground. He slashed more electricity at her, but she raised a Shield of concrete and force. There was a flash of sparks, and Jesse dashed forward, slamming into Broca with the Shield. The Shield released, and the concrete shards went flying outward with a burst of force, crushing through his defense. The Service Weapon shifted into Shatter, and she unleashed a point blank shotgun blast at his center of mass. In her minds eye she saw blue shards fly off him and into herself, restoring her protective shield.

As he slid backward, reeling and bleeding, Jesse realised the cat minions were upon her once more. "Little bastards!" Jesse swore as one of them went to stick a knife right into her kidney. She leapt above them all, though one clung panicking onto her leg and stabbed her thigh. With a swiping motion downward, she flattened all of them into the ground with enough force to knock the wind out of them, taking them out of the fight.

Still, she was fast, and she wasn't going to let them distract her for long. Before Broca could recover from her combo, she was already firing upon him again. Though at this range, Shatter was less effective. Instead, as he prepared to slash up at her, she ripped a bench from the floor and crushed it into him. His composure dropped as, his defences broken, he was crumpled and sent spinning across the floor. "Gotcha! I mean, sorry." Jesse said to his somewhat-moving body.

At this point, Haze had had enough. Flipping to the appropriate page in her book, she sacrificed her own vitality to even the firepower score. Her eyes glew crimson and the size of her bolts must have tripled. Now she was a one woman artillery squad. She fired at the ground below Jesse to make the explosion difficult to dodge, and Jesse was knocked from the air. Landing, she barely Evaded the next one that blew a chunk out of the wall of a far building. She alternated her line of sight to look back at Omori and launched bolts at him as well.

Omori quickly ducked behind cover and reloaded his gun. That lady was going to wreck the place before ANY of them went anywhere. He had to stop this soon, somehow! The boy calmed himself down, then fired again, aiming for a shot in the gut.

She turned to fire a bolt at him, but her aim went wide as the bullet struck true. Instead it crashed up into a distant bridge in the air. Having sacrificed her vitality, she doubled over from the shot, clutching her belly and wheezing. She wasn't going anywhere for a while, just like her partner. If the two of them didn't get medical treatment soon, they might not make it, but they had a chance, and as far as Jesse was concerned that was fair.

"Nice shot, kid!" Jesse called out, having been lining one up herself. Out of Energy, she just dead-sprinted over to the booth. Busting the lock on the door she went inside and used it to open the Purple Line gate.

"All right! It's open." Stepping out, she used Spin to surpress any more forward thinking Metro Cats with ideas above their station, as it were. Sectonia was among those who flew through the newly opened exit, and anyone else who wanted an easy opening through to the Purple Line would now have it. Jesse was planning on being the last one through. If everyone made it through Purple Line, Jesse would have Sven toss a Healing Waters potion Broca's way right before retreating and closing the gate behind her. Why not, right? Maybe that'd help our reputation around here.

The monochrome boy, decently wounded, stumbled back onto his feet and hurried towards the opened gate. Though he was hesitant in leaving Broca and Haze behind. Circumstances or not, could he help them? As he took a glance behind him, he saw the metro cats were already trying to reflood the street.

...

Hopefully some of them will help the two get healed back into shape.

Omori nodded to Jesse, then walked the rest of the way to the Purple Line. Hopefully Mewo made it through.

"WONDERLAND, I'VE COME TO BARGAIN!"
"Man you guys are slow lmao"
- Finn and Oliver

Ah, so most of these are useless. It was kind of dissapointing. Finn rose a brow at Nefer flirting with Iron Mouse, but his attention was mainly on the runestone their gracious host showed. He was curious about the limits and strength of the artifact; Could it absorb something as strong as a Killing Blow? Does the spell weaken on reuse? How long can it hold a spell before it dispates? "Broken, huh? Mind if I take a look?" Finn asked Nefer. He probably didn't have the proper tools to repair something like this, but that didn't mean he can't improvise.

He wouldn't have much time to anyways. They made it to their destination. And their destination?

"What the hell...?"

Was nothing short of chaos. The two boys had to take a moment to take in the surrounding battlefield, allies familiar and otherwise scrambling against Wonderland's encroaching army. Despite the grim situation, Finn remained calm. He had to be, a clear mind can be paramount. Lily's report didn't go unheard.

"So what's the plan here, boss man?" Oliver snapped him out of his thoughts, the ghost himself reloading his rifle in preparation.

"Grimm, Bathory, go assist in evacuations! Think you can deploy enough clones and shit, Grimm?" Finn looked back to Oliver, who grinned in response.

"You underestimate me, old friend??" At that, the ghost called in a large amount of duplicates and spirits; armored or otherwise, but all large enough to pass off as humanoid. They all hurried off to speed things along.

Next, Finn turned to Nefer and Akhenaten. "My thanks for helping us here, but if you wish to depart, I won't stop you. Otherwise, your continued assistance will be much appreciated, whatever you wish to do!" Then finally, he looked towards Iron Mouse, and drew his blade out of it's cane. "That leaves us to hunt down the ringleader. I don't feel too good about dragging you with me while you're still new, but now's a good time to see what you're made of!" Finn grinned, and began making his way towards the battle at hand.

Though as he began using his beast magic to strengthen himself, he couldn't help wondering. Were there any animals around that could assist them? Extending his magic outwards, Finn ended up summoning....a bull! And around 20 chickens, but he couldn't spare the time to count them. "I can work with this." With that, he spent a bit more energy into strengthening the small army in turn. And a bit extra for the bull.

Cause, y'know, big tanky fella.

With the small army all set, Finn approached the frontline trio in time to see the four summoned monsters. He recognized them instantly. His head snapped towards the lion-like beast. "And here I thought you were a coward! Sick 'em!!" Gritting his teeth, the boy commanded the animals to attack it, a wave of chickens crashing into the lion soon as it pounced. The bull on the other hand, took to clearing out as much soldiers as it could first.

"The Tin Man's going to be a pain in the ass to get rid of, but we can leave him to someone else for now." Finn informed Iron Mouse through their coms as he began fighting his way through. "Keep an eye out for anything that doesn't look like a card!"

For the rest of the trip to Twilight town, Omori spent most of it getting to know Pit better. The angel had filled him in on what he missed while he stepped away. What Junior apparently said he did earn a risen brow from the black and white youth, and he went on to clear up the misunderstandings; Essentially giving his testimony about what happened. As much as he didn't want to bear any ill will towards the young prince, it was starting to look like he was desperate to absolve himself of all the blame. Omori would have to confront him about that later.

He noticed Geralt passing by, and once he gave the two a nod, the boy nodded back in response as if he understood the intent.

Soon enough, they finally made it to dry land. Once the Tinkerslug pulled up enough to port, Omori gathered his things and climbed off...rather quickly. Sure, he wasn't anxious about being at sea as he initially was, but he was still afraid of drowning. He was lucky the others didn't make him walk the plank into a watery grave or something. The boy didn't know anyone from the other team, and unfortunately didn't see any familiar faces either, so he stuck by (or rather behind) Pit for the most part.

Omori visibly flinched as the screams of the damned signaled for everyone to turn their attention towards Peach. The princess apologized, then soon proposed a way for everyone to introduce themselves.

...Oh great. He'll have to figure out a way to say hello in more than two words. Maybe he'll wait till most of the rest went.

Of course, their leader went first. The mention of a Mushroom Kingdom had Omori curious. What kind of subject did she have? Were they like, giant mushrooms with legs? Or were they more human looking like her? Maybe something inbetween? Did they have mushroom pets? A mushroom cat would be cute. And she was into sports too! Mari used to play softball, maybe he could introduce her to Peach when they find and free her?

Big Band took his turn after her, a detective turned fighter against something called the Skullgirl. His demeanor and choice of music gave Omori "Noir Detective" vibes. He guessed that the instruments deployed acted as his weapons. Nothing out of the ordinary in his eyes.

Then there was...hey, this guy looked like those merchants from the Trade Guild. Except, a mechanic, and not a merchant. And he built the girl, Poppi, who introduced herself after? Omori was already impressed! Maybe he could learn a thing or too from Tora.

He had already met Nadia long before his team left Alcamoth, so the boy wasn't as phased by her flashy entry. Or her puns.

Then there was another kid who spoke up with a barrage of questions. At least he wasn't the only one who was curious about Ms.Fortunes abilities, but not that much. When Raz realized he drew everyone's attention to him, the psychic decided to introduce himself next. A government agent, acrobat, and for some reason water is deadly to him. Omori tilted his head. Maybe he just couldn't swim? He understood where Raz was coming from either way, water can be dangerous. The monochrome boy overheard Junior's comment, and idly shook his head. He knew better than to underestimate someone that can take a peak into his brain.

...For some reason, he didn't feel too comfortable with that idea-

Aaand of course Junior made another jab at him. As much as Omori would glance away out of shame, at this rate he was getting sick of that puntable-looking brat. The others knew he made a mistake! HE knew he made a mistake! Must he keep being so persistent in making him out to be some...thing?!

...You know what? No. He wasn't going to take this any longer.

"At least I didn't keep trying to make a girl's ears bleed with my pet circus seal and crack her spine. If you seriously have some problem with me, whine about it later." The boy deadpanned back out of spite. If Junior wanted to argue with him so badly, then by all means, he'll be ready this time! For now, they had to get through this long-winded meet and greet before souring the mood again. The royal pain-in-the-butt seemed to agree, with how quickly he changed the subject back on the next person to speak. Wuss.

Red was a tried and true superhero, part of a large team that defended their home from space-bad guys. He even apologized for keeping his identity a secret to them. Omori shrugged in response. They all had their secrets.

He only hoped Sunny would stay alive long enough for Omori and him to reunite. He didn't quite understand their situation yet. But if he really was feeling what his original self was, then that was a good sign, all things considered. The boy would have to worry about how the others will react and all when the time comes.

Then there was Roxas. Who was a former member of some organization apparently everyone else had run into before. Omori didn't, so the only response the other boy got was a confused head tilt. Roxas continued on to explain that Organization XIII was his enemy now, and that he needed to figure out their intentions and possibly stop them.

He was...looking for his friends too. Omori's blank expression softened a little. Hopefully he could be there, stronger even, to help him fight the Organization, if it came down to that.

Another duo took their turn. A dancer who could wield a dagger, and a thief. Their introductions were short, sweet, and to the point.

Ace Cadet was a monster hunter with an aversion to magic. That made Omori wonder, could his skills be considered some form of magic? Something like Sad Poem, sure, but he saw himself as more of a melee fighter than a mage.

Another princess spoke up after Ace, Midna. Omori silently noted a "Mirror of twilight" and the Twilight Realm itself as stuff to look out for. As long as no one made physical contact with either, they should be fine, right? She made a little show out of her powers, then called the Koopa Troop up to talk next.

Ah, more royalty. At least Bowser seemed cool in comparison to his kid, and even took pride in being a classic bad guy. Junior was basically in the same boat as Tora, except he built his clown car instead of an AI. And apparently, he could make portals. Omori could help sighing in relief when the prince said he was going to make one back to Alcamoth. He did NOT want to go back near the water a second time. Pets aside, he already met Kamek first, the magic specialist of the group. The device she showed off, plus the mention of Peach being able to undo spirit fusion was definitely something to keep in mind. And lastly, Rika, the walking blitzkrieg.

After them was...Oh. More royalty. A queen bee in the most literal sense. Sectonia, Bowser, Midna, and Peach. All different shades of what a ruler should be. They should form a club. Sectonia herself seemed to be the most...authentic? Of them, for the lack of a better term?

Then there was their main healer, Blazermate, and another, more business-oriented robot. With a drill. Most of Susie's business jargon went over Omori's head, but he did get the gist of it. Well...he thought he did.

Then Miss High-and-Mighty stepped up to boast and act like she was leader. Closest thing to royalty he guessed. Personally, Omori preferred Peach, but he wasn't stupid enough to snark at someone who could break his bones.

Maybe when he gets strong enough, he could take Karin on in a 1v1 fight. Maybe not martial arts like she may have hoped, but...hm... Guess he could approach Sakura about it later, with her being Karin's rival. Atleast she seemed more humbler than the blonde.

And Geralt? He was pretty cool too.

There was a ghost of a smile when Pit stepped up after Geralt. The goddess he mentioned, Palutena, Omori would have to keep an eye out for her too, for the angel's sake. He'd probably get along with Kel and Hero the most with that infectious optimism. But it felt better to have a new friend here as well.

He finally spoke up again soon as it was his turn to introduce himself. The black and white, pajama-clad boy quietly set his stuff aside and climb up onto the bench. He looked around Pit's age. "My name is Omori. Admittedly, I'm not as strong or...spectacular as everyone else here. I've only been with my team for a short amount of time, and already some of them are probably considering kicking me out. Long story." He dryly chuckled, crossing his arms. "I'm just someone trying to find his friends too, and his sister. One of them already went missing some point before all of us got separated. It's hard to explain what I can do, but I'll try my best. Back where I'm from, emotions play a key role in how we fight."

Omori pulled out his journal and flipped to a page where he had sketched out a chart, one of the things he worked on while everyone talked with Annetta. It took him a bit to recreate the one Hero gave him, but he made it work. He held it up for everyone to see.

"As you can see here. Happiness, sadness, and anger all have their own strengths and weaknesses, so you gotta keep in mind which ones to best utilize against what. And to not let said emotions get to your head too much. Price of power and all, speaking from experience." He explained. "You can also take advantage your enemy's emotions with the right attacks. Though, I'm not sure how much of Headspace made it into this place for that to work right. Might just be exclusive to me now." Omori shrugged, pocketing his book for now. "I'm also experienced with melee weapons, specifically smaller blades like knives, if you couldn't tell by my...growing collection, over here..." The black and white boy's eyes trailed over to his other weapons, then snapped back to the others.

"I know I don't look like much, but I can assure you. I don't go down easily. Not without a fight." For a moment, it looked like the corner of Omori's mouth quirked up. "I also like grape soda."

And with that, he sat back down.
