5.02 // Cruel World
𝗪𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗪𝗢𝗠𝗔𝗡

Today, the United States of America was the first nation in the world to denaturalize and bar a superpowered individual. Wonder Woman was given only twelve hours to present herself to properly be escorted. It was all bullshit. She knew that no piece of paper was going to prevent her from saving lives. Yet, she didn't want to give them any more reasons to throw the book. So, she decided to obey their wishes and meet them at the location; however, she needed to take care of a few things. The first thing she did was giving her house to Rachel Keast. Then, Wonder Woman officially announced that she was taking a temporary leave for her organization, World Veterans Federation, and putting Alana Dominguez in charge.

And finally, she paid a visit to Colonel Steve Trevor at the apple tree. He wanted to be buried in front of that tree because his father planted it after buying the land. Of course, Diana went through complications to ensure his wish was secured. She arrived at the site with some roses from the garden and her iconic sword. There was a moment of silence before she was able to speak.

"This will be the last time that I will see you for a while. I only have fifteen minutes left before the government officially has reason to arrest me. I am forever barred from this country... but I won't follow with it. I have to take a stand for people that I have disappointed... and for the souls that I have taken. I need to atone for the things I have done. To take a stand for all heroes before its too late." Diana placed the roses on the grave and faintly smiled. "I want you to feel proud of me again."

She walked towards Trevor's tombstone and planted it to the ground hard enough to stand on its own. Then, Diana grabbed a few rocks and placed them around the sharp blade. "I need to leave it behind. It has been tarnished by death and brutality. I will only pull it out of the ground if there was a threat more powerful than everything else. Until that day comes, can you keep an eye on it for me? Please, my love."

Wonder Woman turned away from the grave and looked up at the clear sky. She knew what was awaiting her there. A massive crowd filled with unsatisfied protesters, calling her arrest. The avalanche of journalists and reporters asking questions despite the silence. After taking one last look at the grave, Wonder Woman took off and started making her way towards the destination. Towards the cruel world awaiting her arrival.

In other news, Empire Enterprises managed to buy the remaining Vistacorp assets with the bid of $600 million. Veronica Cale, CEO of Empire Enterprises, released a written statement about the merger. It said that Empire Enterprises has always "expressed interested in buying the remains of Vistacorp after the acquisition of WHIH News." It will mean that the multinational mass media company will have their hands in security. The statement highlights the company's expansion into security systems as "an exciting opportunity to have their hands on the security market to protect everyone from threats beyond our control." Meanwhile, "Wonder Woman: Untold Stories of The First Superhero" remains the New York Time's Best Seller for the third week in a role. Emmett Mueller, the author, has posted on Twitter that he has started working on a book based on Captain America. It will be similar to the Wonder Woman biography, which he will highlight Steven Roger's controversies during the war and the execution of Stryfe. Critics and readers alike have said that...

Edwards Air Force Base, United States

Nearly everyone in the base was watching the live footage of Wonder Woman leaving the country. Some of them celebrated her departure while others remained silent and kept watching the screen. Then, there was General Wade Eiling sitting in his office and working on a report. Nearby, the radio was playing the news describing the crowd's atmosphere. Eiling cracked a smile when he heard the official confirmation that Wonder Woman wasn't an American citizen anymore. Suddenly, the phone rang out loud enough to catch him off guard. The General took a moment to collect himself and then answered the call.

"Hello, how can I-"

"General, it's time." a familiar voice interrupted Eiling. "Operation Achilles has been given the green light. Notify him and give him the folder. We'll talk about it at our next meeting."

Before he could respond, the caller on the other end hung up. Eiling opened up a locked drawer with his key and grabbed the folder of documents. He was surprised that it had finally been approved. Then again, it might have something to do with Wonder Woman destroying an American symbol and killing thousands of innocents. He got up from his seat and head towards the gym. It was the only place where the General ever saw him spend his days since arriving at Edwards. Except for sleeping and eating, he was always seen working out or flying around. Even today of all days, he was spotted at the gym once more.

General Eiling entered the room and saw him lifting weights with both of his hands. Captain Atom, the World War II veteran and former leader of the defunct Justice Society of America, was finishing up when he saw Eiling watching him. The soldier immediately placed the weights down and saluted at the General as quickly as possible.

"At ease, son." Eiling dismissed the sault and sat down on the bench with the folder on hand. "Do you know what I have on my hand?"

"No, sir."

"This is our solution to neutralizing the world's biggest threat before she could strike: Operation Achilles." Eiling said with confidence as he showed Atom the folder. "Before you take this folder, I have to make sure that you're committed to accomplishing the mission—no matter the cost and risk—for this great nation."

"I'm committed to my nation and American interest. No matter the risk and cost."

"Even if that means you might be given orders to kill Wonder Woman."

"Yes." Captain Atom answered without hesitation.

Eiling nodded and then handed over the folder. "Then, you are officially part of Operation Achilles. Welcome aboard, Captain Atom."

life at ritman high
Having a successful brother and sister graduate for Ritman High, Lucas faced pressure for teachers and the principal. His parents had expected that their youngest son was also going to be prosperous. Even the students of Ritman kept an eye on him. However, he failed one AP class in tenth grade. As a result, everyone looked down at him. He knew that everyone was talking about him behind his back. And with problems with his family, he became depressed and anxious for his remaining time in Ritman.

In his remaining high school years, Lucas became increasingly unconcerned at school. His parents grew angrier towards him, especially his father. Then the rumors of his sexuality started spreading. Some students thought they saw his profile on a popular dating app, showing to be interested in only guys. Being a religious man, his father dealt with the rumors by sending him to a religious camp for the summer.

When summer break was over, Lucas looked more depressed and worried than ever. He started wearing long sleeves and jackets to school every day. It made him the target of another terrible rumor which spread like wildfire. Students thought that Lucas was going to become a school shooter. It caused the school to react immediately by offering Lucas free counseling for his remaining senior year. Despite his parent's protest, he accepted their offer and it helped.

Once graduation was over and done, most of the students thought Lucas was going to remain in town with his family. But to the surprise of everyone, he was last seen at the bus station with a suitcase and tears in his eyes. He departed for Massachusetts and nobody heard from him until his sudden arrival in town years later.

power
Lucas' power was metamorph, meaning that he was able to alter the formation of his biological cells. In order to use his powers, he needed to focus on someone and wait until the transformation happened. It was usually done in a matter of seconds, making it useful to take someone's place. He still didn't know how or why he was granted this power, but it didn't matter. The ability to become someone else was amazing to him. Even though it could seriously mess his mind up.

Of course, he didn't know that until it was too late.

psyche
Despite being a target of horrible rumors, Lucas liked people and wanted to have plenty of friends. He knew a few of the students at Ritman High, but none of them became his friend. That made him lonely during high school. And with the depression and anxiety, he was dealing with a lot. Moving out of town into the big city made them worse. Being homesick and alone in Boston didn't do any good for his mental health. Of course, it improved once he found a stable job and a big enough apartment. Yet, he wasn't able to move on with his life. That was when he decided to confront it by visiting his hometown for the last time.

Lucas' Myers-Briggs scale was INFJ. His archetypes were lover, everyman, and explorer. As for their personality, they cost him a lot of potential friends in high school. The main issue was that he seemed clingy and had too much baggage for a proper friendship. Since graduating from Ritman and leaving town, his personality slightly changed since he didn't want to be seen as a clingy person. Plus, he dealt with a lot of his emotional baggage; but, some of them remained unresolved. And in order to solve them, he had to go back to his hometown.

Marius Faro stood 5' 10" and weighed around one hundred fifty pounds with a muscular frame. He maintained a healthy body and often worked out despite his prosthetic leg. Whenever he wore his armor, the prosthetic leg never stood out and often mistaken as a real leg. It never was his intention to make it match with his armor. In casual wear, on the other hand, it stood out even though Marius wore jewelry all over his arms for aesthetic purposes. Faro kept his hair at medium length because of his time in the military. And if jewelry and a prosthetic leg wasn't enough, he also had several tattoos all over his body including a shoulder sleeve tattoo.

Marius' first tattoo was a tribute to Torfan that he got after he retired from the Alliance. It didn't stand out, unlike the other tattoos that he acquired during his time in C-Sec and Omega. For example, he had a tattoo of the Solar System on his back, a tattoo of the desert on his right ankle, and several other minor tattoos on his body. The most prominent tattoo that Marius got was his shoulder sleeve tattoo depicting a knight's shoulder armor with his family's crest on it. It was significant because it was the only connection Marius had left to his family and he never wanted to forget it.

B A C K G R O U N D

"The hardest lesson that I learned during my youth was to think for myself."

Marius Faro was born in Mars' first settlement, Lowell City, a year after the discovery of the Martian Ruins. Both of his parents were scientists that took part in the exploitation of the ruins for remaining technologies. Six months after Marius' birth, his parents' contract with the Systems Alliance wasn't renewed, and they moved back to America as a result. His mother, Alyssa, became a recruiter for the Alliance's science department to provide a better life for her only child. On the other hand, his father remained an independent scientist and accepted a contract to study the newly discovered Charon Relay. It was where he spent eight years living and working while sending money back to his family on Earth.

Then, Relay 314 was discovered by the Alliance around the time Franco was scheduled to return home. He decided at the last minute to help with reactivating the relay. While they were working to reactive it, the turians attacked and destroyed nearly the entire fleet. Marius and his mother learned about Franco's fate when a lone starship returned. Heartbroken and angry, Alyssa developed a hatred of turians and wanted them to pay for murdering her husband. Her resentment grew worse when Shanxi fell. Now, she and plenty of people were ready and willing to support an interplanetary war.

Unfortunately for them, the Citadel Council stepped in between and forged peace before war truly begun. The council's intervention changed Alyssa forever. She found comfort with Terra Firma, a growing anti-alien political party, and eventually rose to become one of its key speakers. Meanwhile, Marius struggled without his father during middle and high school. His mother didn't help much other than taking him to one of Terra Firma's rallies. Instead, he tried to find comfort by seeking answers to his father's death.

That was when he learned that humans unknowingly violated one of the Council laws by reactivating Relay 314. It helped him understand why the turians attacked, but it didn't bring him comfort about his father's death. Things only got worse once high school began.

Many of his peers were bothered with the fact that his mother was part of Terra Firma and considered Marius to have the same beliefs. Some students defended him because they had parents in the same political party and openly xenophobe. The only place that he was able to hide was on the extranet. It was when he met Arrutis Isaraka, a turian from Palaven, and quickly formed a friendship at the end of Marius' freshman year; however, Marius kept it a secret to his mother. While their friendship kept on growing, his relationship with his mother started to sour.

Eventually, both of them realized that they had feelings for each other and secretly started online dating. Marius feared what would happen to Arrutis if his mother found out about their relationship. Meanwhile, more of his peers began to realize that he was different from his mother; but, it still wasn't enough. Marius felt like he wanted to prove everyone wrong and decided to plan something in his senior year. The plan was for Marius to attend Alyssa's rally on the ninth anniversary of the First Contact War to reveal that he had been dating a turian to embarrass her.

Before the day of the rally, Marius told and introduced a few of his friends to Arrutis. One of his friends suggested that Marius should hack into one of Terra Firma's screens and reveal his lover. He had doubts about it but was convinced into doing it. On the day of the rally, Marius managed to hack the screens on the stage before the speech began. While Alyssa was giving her address, he stood up and started to confront his mother about her bigoted views. It was when he used his omni-tool and revealed Arrutis to the world. He proceeded to explain that he and Marius had been dating online for three years. His mother was caught off guard by the news and abruptly left the stage, dragged Marius with her.

Yet, no-one knew that someone recorded and posted the entire disruption on the extranet. It was such a big scandal that Terra Firma denounced Alyssa and discredited her as a member. She never forgave Marius and felt like he dishonored his father for dating his "murders." When he turned eighteen and graduated, Alyssa kicked her son out and told him never to see her again. He initially tried to stay with Arrutis at his parent's place; however, his parents also found out about their relationship and forced them to end it.

With nowhere else to go, Marius went to an Alliance recruiter to join. He got basic training before being placed in a division apart of the Alliance Engineering Corp. His division was responsible for maintaining defenses of colonies located in the Skyllian Verge against pirates and slavers. Whenever he was on military leave, he attended college in Elysium to get a degree in electrical engineering. Thankfully, Marius wasn't on Elysium when it came under attack during the Skyllian Blitz. That attack made him hate pirates and felt like he had to fight back. When he heard of the upcoming battle on Torfan, he requested transform to the 103rd Marine Division. The chain of command, at first, disapproved the transform until they found out about the pirate strongholds were underground connected through tunnels. Since Marius was a qualified engineer, his request was approved and the division left shortly after.

The Battle of Torfan was a bloodbath for the Alliance while a massacre for the pirates on the moon. Hundreds of Alliance soldiers were killed during the push towards their underground strongholds. Meanwhile, Marius was one of the dozens of engineers sent out to find tunnels created by the pirates and develop new ones for the Alliance. One of the tunnels was rigged to explore and Marius was sent to defuse the explosives. Unluckily, it exploded and nearly caved him in; but, a rock landed on his left foot and broke it. It was his first serious injury that he ever got, but he never regretted the decision to join the Marine Division. However, it was a wakeup call. When Marius got his degree, he decided to retire from the Alliance and left for the Citadel. But, civilian life was difficult for him to get back into.

The Citadel was too peaceful for a military man, like Marius, to spend his remaining life. He also didn't have many friends in the Citadel until he met Sertius Quintis. Quintis was a C-Sec officer that met with Yanagita during his break. Both Quintis and Marius were military men who recently retired from the military and went to the Citadel for comfort. Instead, Quintis joined C-Sec to keep himself busy. After some convincing, Marius applied to the C-Sec's Network Division. It wasn't as fun as being part of the Patrol Division, but he knew that his skill would be best suited to deal with E-Crimes.

For seven months, he did his job for the Network Division to the best of his abilities without question. His superiors were impressed with Marius and gave him pay raises. And Quintis became a great friend to Marius. Life was comfortable enough for Marius until he found himself in danger. Members of the powerful Citadel gang, Phoenix, had been eluding C-Sec for years and taking over the drug trade. Even with humans joining, it wasn't enough to end their reign. Until Quintis was tipped by a rival gang member of the possible location of their next major red sand deal; but, he was found dead before he could share any more info. That was when he asked if Marius could set up hidden surveillance at the site without everyone in C-Sec knowing.

There was enough footage to bust the dealers and his goons, but the leader of Phoenix, Sennia Floriril, wasn't present at the deal. Regardless, it was C-Sec's first significant success against Phoenix and it led to small gains with help from Marius. For nearly a month, both he and Quintis went to war against the gang and crippled their operations. It wasn't until the arrest of Floriril's husband that he made a fatal mistake. Marius accidentally left behind a trail that led to his workplace while hacking into her personal computer. With the location of his workspace and home, Floriril decided to send a message to C-Sec by killing Marius herself. On the day after the arrest, Marius was driving his shuttle home when another shuttle rammed into it. The collision caused him to lose control and crash landed into a nearby office building.

The members of Phoenix, including Floriril, begun rushing towards his location as Marius struggled out of the shuttle. He saw several gang members approaching him with the intent to kill; however, they didn't know that he was a soldier. Only having a pistol with him, Marius stood his ground against the assault while Floriril watched behind the scenes. Eventually, she presented herself to him with nothing besides her exoskeleton armor and began fighting Marius. He fought back as hard as possible, but it wasn't enough. She successfully defeated him by breaking his left leg hard enough to split open. She started to gloat about her victory as she was getting ready to stomp him to death. But, Floriril wasn't paying enough attention to her surroundings and was fatally shot by Quintis. He immediately took to the nearest hospital, where doctors tried to save his leg. Sadly, it had to be cut off to save his life.

After the attack, Phoenix faded into existence due to the death of its leader. Meanwhile, Marius spent time in the hospital recovering and getting used to his prosthetic leg. He later learned that he was honorably discharged from C-Sec and forced into another early retirement. Marius immediately grew bored and announced the decision of leaving the Citadel for Omega to become a mercenary. He tried to ask Quintis if he wanted to come with him because he had feelings for him. However, Quintis tried to convince Marius not to become a mercenary because he thought it would have violated everything he has done.

Marius left the Citadel behind shortly after.

For four months, Marius took on a few jobs in Omega while using several aliases and gained a decent reputation for getting the job done despite leaving behind a mess. And whenever he wasn't working, Marius was doing drugs and hooking up with strangers. It got to the point where it became his daily route. Then, he heard that the captain aboard the Achilles was looking for hired help. Marius accepted the offer in the hopes of breaking his pattern by leaving Omega. And of course, he wanted to be paid a lot of credits.

S K I L L S

Marius was a trained Alliance engineer with years of experience under his belt. While in the army, he earned his engineering degree on Elysium and found himself in C-Sec's Network Division. He taught himself how to use a shotgun, but knew how to handle a sniper rifle. If there was one thing Marius could thank his mother, it was giving him sniper lessons for free. One of her friends hosted lessons to prepare for a possible invasion for the turians. It included many useful skills, but Marius found sniping to be more interesting. His marksmanship improved incredibly once the Alliance realized his potential. Yet, he carried a shotgun and a pistol whenever he was on the front lines. For his skills as an engineer, he knows how to repair, restore, and build several things if you give the space and the tools required. His specialty is weapons, armors, prosthetics, and augmentations; but, he does know a few things about fixing ships. Unfortunately, he was a terrible hacker compared to other engineers in the Alliance. It was one of the reasons why the Alliance moved him to the front lines rather than with the other engineers.

Besides combat, Marius found interest in history and took several courses on the subject while in college. Sketching was a hobby that Marius hid from everyone since his childhood. He tried to open up to Quintis, but he was focused on work than having hobbies.

Naginata Sniper Rifle
Marius never felt comfortable with Alliance-issued sniper rifles during his time as a soldier. That was when he found out about Naginata and fell in love with it instantly. He brought it after he retired from the Alliance and took it with him to the Citadel. Of course, he kept it hidden from everyone except Quintis. Once he left for Omega, Marius upgraded its thermal clip capacity and piercing to make sure it was perfect. He also got it engraved in the same fashion as the shotgun. And it also contained his family's crest for good luck and a sense of protection.

Hurricane Shotgun
It was the oldest weapon that Marius ever had because he brought it for the Battle of Torfan. It saved his life several times during the battle. Afterward, he took it with him to the Citadel and kept it as a display. It was unused for his time in C-Sec until he left for Omega. He also got its thermal clip capacity and high caliber barrel upgraded before officially beginning his job as a mercenary. Once Marius earned enough credits, it was the first weapon to be engraved. He added in the family crest shortly after the engravements. Because the shotgun was considered outdated, he was required to perform maintenance on it monthly. Otherwise, Marius refused to upgrade to the latest shotgun model since the original had a lot of sentimental value.

Judgement Pistol
A used pistol that he brought from a salvage store in Omega. It required some fixes and upgrades to its magazine capacity and barrel. But, it wasn't anything special to him. It featured no custom engravings or colors. Marius only used it if he didn't have his shotgun nearby for close combat. He also used it as a quick form of protection since it was easier to draw than a shotgun.

Nexus omni-tool
It was a farewell gift from Quintis that cost him a fortune. Marius felt guilty about accepting it, but it was so good to refuse. The omni-tool was perfect for someone like Marius. It had the latest diagnostic tool and repair and programming feature out of the other omni-tools. It also had the hacking feature, but he barely used it. There were also slight features like scanner, camera, and contacts list. It only had Quintis' number, which was meant to be called in the case that Marius was done being a mercenary. And it had an omni-tattoo that was nothing unique.

Light Freedom armor
Marius brought it with his savings and last paycheck from C-Sec before he left the Citadel. Using this light armor had its advantages and disadvantages. For instance, it didn't offer much protection compared to medium and heavy armor types. Yet, it allowed him to move quicker towards his destination while his shields were capable enough to keep him safe. The aesthetic look of the armor took weeks to achieve, especially the engravings. He used a mixture of real and fake gold to make it absolutely different for the other armors. Also, his helmet was linked to his omni-tool and contained the same "golden" engravings as the armor.

Drugs
During the first few months as a mercenary, Marius' anxiety and fears started to overwhelm him until he found comfort in drugs. At first, the classic marijuana helped him calm down. Then, he fell in love with party drugs like Hallex; yet, he stayed far away from red sand. And finally, alcohol was something that he rarely drank and only did it socially. Marius didn't do drugs whenever he accepted work or his skills as an engineer were required. He viewed them as his source of comfort instead of sharing thoughts and feelings with therapists. But, it turned into a full-blown addiction to party drugs (like Hallex).

Films and TV Shows
There was so much one person could do in Omega besides going to nightclubs and having one-night stands. For Marius, he did drugs and watched the latest shows and movies. That was why he brought his flat screen television to the Achilles. It allowed him to watch something while high. And he also managed to have a collection of old movies and tv shows from the late twentieth century and early twenty-first century. If someone ever suggested a movie night, he was more than willing to provide the movie and the observation deck. Plus, Marius also watched boxing and soccer on the side.

Games
For some odd reason, Marius fell in love with those Kepesh-Yakshi & Relay Defense while on the Citadel. He spent lots of credits to play them for hours until Quintis physically dragged him out of the arcade. He wasn't the best player, but he was pretty decent. However, once he left for Omega, Marius didn't have enough time to play them and eventually forgot about them. That didn't mean that he wouldn't freak out when he saw one of those games. Meanwhile, Marius downloaded Alliance Corsair onto his omni-tool that he played often. And he also was willing to play traditional chess and tabletop games.

Hookups
Marius' other significant guilty pleasure was one-night stands. Typically, it happened once he finished with work and only did it with men. He either went to their place or invited them over to his small apartment unit. Just like drugs, he found some comfort with them even if it was meaningless; however, it didn't mean he wanted a relationship. Now that Marius was going to be aboard a ship with other people, he knew that these hookups weren't going to be acceptable. It was when he made a vow to limiting and even stopping hookups, but it wasn't going to be easy.

H A U N T

Observation Deck
Even know the Achilles was a small vessel, it had a small observation deck perfect for Marius. The window had a large shutter, which was made out of the same material as the ship, capable of withstanding blasts towards it. Besides the window, there was a round table with comfortable chairs and a large flat screen television. Initially, it was supposed to provide relaxation and relief for crewmembers until Marius arrived. Whenever he was on board, Marius spent his time on the extranet, sketching, tinkering with his leg, or smoking something. However, if someone wanted time alone in the deck or joined him, he respected their request and left towards a different part of the ship. As for the workshop, there wasn't much of Marius' stuff besides a small cactus to lighten up the room.

D R I V E

Marius lost the only family member that he had left because of hatred. He lost the two people that he had ever fallen in love with due to circumstances. The things that kept him going through life were drugs, sex, and combat. Being a part of the Alliance gave him the adrenaline rush that helped him through a rough part of his life. Even being part of Torfan was one of the most exciting moments in his life despite how deadly it was. He attempted retirement at the Citadel but realized that he missed that rush. C-Sec didn't satisfy him at all. It wasn't until he became a mercenary that the rush came back to him. Drugs and having one-night stands helped him contain that need.

But, Marius knew that those things weren't healthy at all. He was afraid of his past coming back to haunt him, fearful of being unable to achieve everlasting love, and petrified of being lost forever. And he thought that it was irreparable.

Cinros looked like a huge sea monster with its long tail and its slender legs. The legs ended in multi-fingered hands which were recently discovered to bend backward. Its skin was a light gray with dark speckles across its body. There were two esophagi that extended from the monster's lower chest and ended in tooth-like projections. And its head had two eyes with massive pupils and a pair of membranous sacks on the sides that inflated and receded back. Despite its appearance, Cinros was thought to be durable to conventional weaponry and possibly other monsters. Studies found that its tail was strong enough to destroy 50,000 pounds per square inch and capable of destroying the nearby populated areas. Researchers believed that Cinros was aggressive to everything.

WEAKNESSES

However, it was possible that it could start running away if it was heavily pressured. With enough airstrikes, it was expected that Cinros will try to escape. That was when someone or something could deliver a killing blow to it. Yet, experts estimated that Cinros was able to destroy the entire Los Angeles County with ease. And its aggressive behavior meant that other monsters were its target. That type of behavior was going to bring it trouble since Cinros didn't understand the concept of an alliance.

HISTORY

Based on Terra's findings and years of studying, Cinros originated from the Pacific Ocean before heading towards land. It eventually found present-day California and made Mt. San Antonio it's home. Researchers believed that it was a mother and had several children; but, Cinros was the only one inside that mountain. The current theory was that it lost its children centuries ago because of unknown reasons. And as a result, Cinros went back to her home and began coping by entering habilitation. Recently, Terra was worried that Cinros was started to wake up for its slumber. They went ahead and warn Outpost Eleven of its possible awakening; but, none of the crew took the message seriously.

Bearing a resemblance to a crustacean, Scordoru was considered one of the smallest monsters in the world. Yet, it was still a threat if it ever escaped with its thick claws. According to researchers and experts, those claws were capable of crushing over 50,000 pounds per square inch. It also possesses a high crest above a large, symmetrical head that can withstand close range attacks and explosives. And there were toxic spiked barbs lining its plating giving him some sort of protection against its predators. The same researchers also noted that Scordoru might have been hostile to humans; however, they never found the reason behind its behavior.

WEAKNESSES

Scordoru's neck, underbelly, and ligaments were unprotected by its tough plating. And of course, it was smaller and weaker than the other monsters. Humanity was expected to be defenseless and valuable to the creature; however, a bigger and stronger monster was expected to win. But, Scordoru wasn't going to give up without a fight.

HISTORY

Based on Terra's findings and years of studying, Scordoru originated from East Asia before moving west towards the Americas. It spent years moving around across the ocean until it stopped moving near North America. None of the researchers knew why it suddenly stopped moving and decided to rest. Some theorized that it actually passed out due to exhaustion while others said something else beaten Scordoru in close combat. Regardless, Terra built Outpost 20 to contain the creature in the hopes that it never escaped.

Flotilla has a completely different economic system from the rest of the world because of their limitations. For example, there isn't an official form of currency. Due to small spaces, the people of Flotilla value have to barter items to others within the Flotilla and outsiders. Even without a currency system, the government saved various types of currencies as payments to other countries for refueling and stocking up on valuable supplies. However, they were known to also barter with other countries whenever possible. They were sought after because of their crafts along with exotic goods, machinery, and electricity.

Unique Technologies
Civilian Airships are airships that are completely different compared to military airships. It was thanks to advancements in airborne machinery that it was possible to construct airships designed for farming, housing, or industrial.

Primary Species
Humans

Population
1.5 million

Culture
In the eyes of the government, foods, medicines, and things people took for granted were deemed luxuries. If the government has proof that a person was being wasteful, then they were exiled and placed in jail until they were release. Prisoners were often traded into the slave market if nations had one. If nations abolished slavery, then they usually were released them into the public. Laws are some of the strictest in the world compared to other nations due to their situation. Criminals found guilty of felonies were usually sent to death by firing squad or pushing them off of the airship. Exile depends on the crime and context of said crime.

Religion and Other Beliefs
Most of the citizens didn't believe in God or any religion while the government officially accepted all kinds of religions.

Military
Airships made up almost the entirely military for the country given that they lacked any land or water for a proper military and navy. Their organization was divided into three different groups: Scouting Fleet, Civilian Fleet, and Heavy Fleet. The Scouting Fleet made sure that the entire Flotilla was safe by scouting ahead while they also request docking permission and permission for their Flotilla to float above their city. And they also secured passage and diplomatic ties before entering another nations airspace. Then, there were the Civilian Fleet. Their purpose was to house the civilians while providing them with food, jobs, and places to trade. Often enough, you saw all of them in one civilian airship; however, large scale farming and industry have their own civilian ship. And finally, there were the Heavy Fleet. They were the navy and only main source of protection for the entire Flotilla. People saw the strongest ones surrounding the capital ship, which housed the Assembly.

However, there were the Flotilla Marines tasked with naval-infantry and police operations. The citizens saw them as the police force that were trained to handle invasions if the enemy boarded their ships.

Magic Prevalence/Usage
Magic users were forbidden because of their uncertainty and the risk of accidentally blowing up an airship. Usually, they were exiled from birth; however, it was the case that they were traded off to Elyr.

History/ Background Info
The formation of the Flotilla began shortly after the volcano erupted and covered much of the world in ash. Fearful that a government collapse was on the way, the high-ranking military officials and the influential wealthy class gathered to discuss plans of leaving before chaos took over. With their airships ready, the respected military and the remaining wealthy class abandoned their nation and decided to live in the skies until things on the ground calmed down. But it took a while before that could happen.

The wealthy tried to overthrow the military and failed. As a result, they were either executed or traded off into the country with slaves. Thus, they were granted access to their docks for refueling and stocking up on supplies. Eventually, they went on to build several more ships with the supplies given designed to be farms and houses for citizens. And the stories of flying cities began spreading across the world and people wanted to join the Flotilla. It was when the Assembly announced that people can join the Flotilla only if they give them gifts like resources, technologies, and even airships.

Nation Relations
Since Flotilla don't have any borders and land, they kept logs of trading with several nations throughout the world. The Divine Empire of Hastur was their first official trading partner and the only nation that had an active slave market. With an agreement agreed upon, the Flotilla sends their prisoners to become slaves from Hastur in return for.... While they traded their magical people away to Elyr. (also need to talk)

"Everything's coming up explodey!"

Background
Life in the Outback forever changed as the Australian Liberation Front destroyed the Omnium, turning the land into an irradiated hell. ‎Jamison Fawkes was one of thousands that were forced to live in the ruins while the government left them to rot. However, some of them became survivors and started to call themselves Junkers. The Junkers started to scavenged the husk of the omnium to form lawless communities across the Outback. For Junkrat, he was the one that made explosives. Of course, it all changed when he found an omnium fusion core within the omnium ruins.

And his friends tried to kill him for it. In turn, he killed them and ran away from the ruins with the fusion core. Despite hiding it in a secret location, all of the Outback wanted his treasure and issued a bounty. Junkrat had killed several bounty hunters before he encountered Roadhog, the one that almost caught him. That was until he was betrayed. So, he hired Roadhog to be his bodyguard. And as they grew closer, Junkrat eventually shared about the treasure. And it made them targets to everybody in the world. Both Overwatch and Talon wanted the treasure.

Then, everything was consumed by a light.

Personality
The lingering radiation from the Omnium turned Jamison into Junkrat, a chaos-inducing maniac with an obsession for explosions. He doesn't like solving things that can't be solved with money or death. And as a result, his impulsive, trigger-happy nature often gets him into trouble since he doesn't think things through. If it wasn't for Roadhog, Junkrat would have been killed a long time ago. Unlike his partner, Roadhog, he loves to talk so much that he doesn't know how to shut up. And he is a whole lot nicer and kind-hearted compared to Roadhog.

"As for the execution of Stryfe... I am here to confirm that Captain Steven Rogers was mobilized to the scene per my orders. While the specifics remain classified, I can confirm that Captain Rogers has been one of our operatives for the past three years. While Captain Rogers reported believing Stryfe was reaching for a weapon or device when he fired his service weapon, we have chosen to suspend Captain Rogers for the indefinite future. There will be no further questions, thank you."

Wonder Woman stood silent at the podium while each of the twelve senators looked down upon her. Each of them had something to say at her. Their words and insults only stung a little while she wanted the whole thing to end already. After all, she knew what they were going to recommend. Then, Senator Swanwick looked directly at her with pure hatred and began his final speech. "Because of our investigation, we have prepared a list of recommendations for the Horne administration. The first, and the most important, recommendation is the creation of a department that focuses on metahumans. This department will deal with public metahuman altercations that might harm our nation's citizens and infrastructure. It will also investigate metahuman activities, starting with Wonder Woman's possible ties with the terrorist group, Metahuman Supremacy Front."

"The second and final recommendation is the denaturalization of Wonder Woman, and her immediately ban from entering the United States and its territories. We recommend this course of action due to her possible connections with the MSF and the partial collapse of the Empire State Building. The ban will ensure a temporary calm while peace and order are slowly being restored in the affected areas. I would go as far as to recommend her arrest but-"

"Senator, that's enough!" Senator Finch interrupted before he could finish.

Senator Swanwick took a moment to calm down and responded, "You're right. I'm just so frustrated right now. Wonder Woman, do you have anything to say at all?"

There was a moment of silence in the room, awaiting a single word to come out of Wonder Woman's mouth. But there was nothing. Instead, she left the podium and started walking out of the room. Senator Swanwick yelled for Wonder Woman to remain in the building, but she didn't care. Nothing mattered. Stryfe won while everyone else lost. America had already begun to dismantle heroes and control metahumans. It was only a matter of time before the world followed. She exited out of the Capitol and planned on taking off, heading back to deal with problems at the World Veterans Federation headquarters. Protests have been going on non-stop since the collapse of the Empire State Building, calling for Wonder Woman's arrest and her resignation for the organization that she created.

Before taking flight, she noticed that her someone was staring at her in front of her. Wonder Woman approached the person and realized that it was Steve Rogers, but she didn't say anything.

Steve was about as incognito as he could be. He wore a nondescript baseball cap, hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, large aviator sunglasses, and jeans with combat boots. But gave a smile as Diana recognized him on her approach. He gave a nod. "I can't believe what happened in there. To think, that this country could come to this..." Steve's jaw clenched shut for a moment, before he gave a sigh and a chuckle. "Care to grab a drink before they come to kick you out of the country?"

"Yeah, sure." Diana chuckled and then sighed. "I knew this was going to happen. I wished that I was so wrong, but... here we are. At the endgame."

Cap gave a nod, and started heading east. They were able to keep a rather rapid pace. There were no words exchanged. There wasn't much to say out in public. In a few minutes and a few blocks away, the two found themselves in a rather small and nondescript apartment. The living room had a half kitchen blocked off with a counter in the back. As Steve made his way towards the kitchen, he nodded towards the couch sitting across from a tv. He called out from the kitchen, "Whiskey or Wine?"

Diana briefly looked at Rogers, said nothing, and resumed watching the news. Alcohol had no favor anymore.

Cap poured two glasses of whiskey and walked towards Diana, holding the glass out for her. "You know, after all the shit we went through during the war... when I got out of that ice, I expected the world to be better. But it's not. The same ideologies... the same fear... It's sickening. It used to be simple: we punch the bad guys. Then I wake up, I join the Commandos again... but they don't have us just punching the bad guys. It's picking up intel. Killing my own men. Destabilizing countries. The things I've done..." Steve just shook his head as he took a long sip of whiskey.

Diana took a small sip of the whiskey and waited for the favor to appear finally. Still nothing. She turned towards Rogers and finished his sentence in her emotionless voice, "Are nothing compared to what I've done."

Steve shrugged his shoulders. "Perhaps. Perhaps you've done a few bad things. Killed some terrorists in Trasnia, destroyed the Empire State Building trying to bring Stryfe in... Tough decisions, but they're yours. Me... I became a shill. Did Fury's bidding because I was born and raised to follow orders and that's it. Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. What matters is that when the world tells you to move, and that you're wrong... you need to plant your feet and tell them 'No... You move."'

She looked at the television and saw footage of anti-mutant protesters at the White House. "I spent the last one-hundred years doing that—It changed my whole life. I could have lived a peaceful life with my lover and had a family. But the world needed me. It needed Wonder Woman, their hero and savior for evildoers. I witnessed so much while you were frozen in the Arctic. I watched generations die out while new ones slowly replaced them. Now, I am watching everything I built dying like a star. Do you want to know the curse of being the most powerful person in the world? I can never die naturally. I am a Goddess, forced to watch humanity, slowly killing themselves, and I can't do anything about it. That is my curse."

Steve watched the TV for a moment, before he finally let out a small chuckle. "You can do something. You helped stop that maniac blow up New York. You helped stop the Trasnia incident. Back in the War, we stopped a genocide of people who were being killed because of their lineage and who they wanted to have sex with. Being a hero is about cleaning up the messes the world makes without so much as a thank you. And when you do what needs to be done... when you make the choice that they are too scared or incapable of making, they persecute you. It's how things are."

"It wasn't supposed to be like this..." Diana muttered to herself and then looked at Rogers, disappointed. "I had a plan. A plan that got ruined the moment that you killed him."

Cap finished his whiskey, before looking Diana in the eye. "I was trying to save you from this. I know exactly what you were going to do. And that... that would have been too far." Steve ground his teeth for a moment, anger swelling up in him. "I looked up to you, you know. I was some snot-nosed kid from Brooklyn who forged documents to get into the army. Signed up to be part of an experiment that should have killed me. Spent the entire damn war getting shot and beat up and blown to Hell... just so that I could prove that we 'humans' could do it too." Steve took a few steps away, his back to Diana as he looked out the window. "I take a dip into the Atlantic for 75 years, and I come back to see that you've done good. Continued protecting this country while I was gone. Start a damn charity organization to help people like me... like Steve. And now you want to start executing people like Stryfe to do... what, exactly? Be a hero?"

"You don't get it! By killing Stryfe, I would have become the villain while you became the perfect hero!" Diana yelled at Rogers and grabbed his shoulders, continuing her explanation. "You were never born with these powers. You lived a normal life and grew up in the city. You still retained your humanity even after you got your powers from a bottle. Then, you have me.. an uncontrollable monster waiting to unleash her true potential upon this world. The whole world—even you—were always afraid of me because I wasn't truly human. By killing Stryfe, that fear would have been a reality... not unless you stopped me. Captain America returns from the dead to stop the mad Wonder Woman. The media would have fallen in love with you while the American government would have stood by your side. Hell, they might have even thrown a parade for your grand return! And you would have reminded them of simple times as the world listened. You would have become the hero that I once was while I... I finally get to rest and reunite with Colonel Steve Trevor, enjoying the simple life. Do you finally understand?"

Steve brushed aside her grip before placing his hands on her shoulders in response, shaking her lightly as he spoke sternly. "That's not how it would have happened. It would have been a matter of time until he got out again and rekindled his organization. Sure, I'd get a parade and a platform. But at your expense... at the expense of the metahuman community. I made a call, and it might have been the wrong one. But you didn't give me much time to think. And I wasn't going to let you make yourself out to be a villain, Diana." He removed his grip from her shoulders and walked over, pointing at the TV. "If I couldn't have stopped you, and you killed Stryfe... This place would look like Nazi Germany. Stryfe would have won then. Kids from my neighborhood who didn't have a choice about how they were born would get rounded up by the cops and shoved into camps because they're dangerous. So yeah, I gave up what chance I had of the people seeing me as the hero so that I could save those kids from that. Being the hero requires giving up everything for those people out there. I learned that from you."

Diana understood that her plan would have lead to something much worse. So, she faintly smiled and asked her old friend, "Then, could you do me one final favor?"

"Of course."

"Kill me."

Steve shook his head, giving a long and deep sigh as he stared his old friend in the eyes. "That isn't going to happen, Diana. You can't give up like this." Steve walked back into the kitchen, beginning to pull out the whiskey again. "There are still people who believe in you. And if you're a goddess, you need to be there for those people. And I know you don't like it when I bring him up... but you know damn well that if Trevor were still here, he'd tell you the same damn thing." Steve poured another glass of whiskey and took a long sip, watching his friend with concern.

"But, do I deserve to be believed in? After everything that I have done?" Diana grabbed the glass of whiskey and started drinking it. "Should people still be inspired by me?"

"Having a bad year doesn't make you someone not worth believing in. You just need to remind them that of who you are." Steve gave a small smile. "You're Wonder Woman, Diana. You're the first hero. If I had to put all my belief in any one person, it would be you."

Diana took a seat and grabbed the glass. She thought about the people in her life that stood by her during this mess. Etta Candy, Alana Dominguez, Rachel Keast, and the countless people that believed her. Just like Rogers. Taking a long slip, she finally tasted a small spark of charred oak. It was something. And maybe it was enough. Enough to fix her past sins and make people believe in her again. She placed the empty glass on the table and looked up at Rogers with a genuine smile, the first in weeks.
