@CaitsThink of that one guy's soul magic, but permanent and it gets rid of the person they were before. The rest is just machinery that seems possible given the level of technology that's been shown on the show. He runs in the magic provided by the soul, and if however gets completely drained of magic or has his power source destroyed, it's complete game over for him.
