Was playing around with an idea for a Fire Gym Leader in his 40s, based in Cinnabar. My only concern is how much gym leaders are able to move about to interact with other characters, considering they must spend a lot of time stationary to wait for challengers. I guess there's always excuses like research trips or the like, but yeah.

Would be nice to have another character starting on Cinnabar!
She did indeed!
@CaptainSully just checking - are our pokemon supposed to have the special abilities like Quilos does? These weren't in the original games which was why I didn't look into them.
Name: Marie Himelan
Nickname: The trainers on the island gave her a nickname of Princess Fire, but she’ll hit you if you call her that!
Age: 18

Hometown: Cinnabar Island
Height: 5’7
Weight: How rude! (120lbs
Occupation: Just finished being a student, now a pokemon trainer! She helps at her parents watersports company on weekends
Likes: Fire, surfing, reading, writing, drawing, pokemon battles
Dislikes: Oranges, loud music, her nickname
Talents: Drawing, raising pokemon, cooking
Personality: Marie has a very tomboyish personality; indeed, if people didn’t know her or hadn’t seen her, they’d think she was a boy. She is very sporty, and extremely competitive. She’s cocky at times, but with good reason usually. However, under that exterior, she can be very intelligent.
Background: When Marie was born, pokemon was the last thing on her parents’ minds. She was smart, she had artistic talents, and there was nothing holding her back.

Then one day, when she was seven, she found an injured Vulpix by the road. Worried about the small creature, she took it home and nursed it back to health. With that began the start of a beautiful friendship, and her love of pokemon began. She went everywhere with her little Vulpi, who became a focal point of much of her art. The Vulpix had clearly grown attached to her as well, proven by when her parents tried to take the pokemon away; Vulpix found her way back. Eventually her parents reached a compromise with her parents; she could keep Vulpix if pokemon didn’t affect her studies.

So while Marie started to learn more about sports (her parents hoped she’d grow up to be a teacher or coach), she studied pokemon part time. She had her first pokemon fight at 13 with a friend (which she won) and she got a second pokemon, a Seel, at 15. Although she wasn’t allowed to be an official trainer, due to the age restriction, she was fast gaining a reputation on Cinnabar Island. Which was when the nickname Princess Fire started circling. She hated it immediately, she wanted to just be treated like everyone else!

When she was 16, she had the most surprising birthday present; a Fire Stone. That night, when she was sure Vulpix wanted it as well, she used the fire stone, and her cute little Vulpix became a large powerful Ninetails!

Ninetails hasn’t lost a battle yet.

Since finishing college (with top marks) she’s begun her training as a pokemon trainer. Although she still only has the two pokemon, she’s studied hard and made sure to train them in the perfect maneuvers. Working at her parents watersports company has helped with training Seel, and most people are amused to see her out on a surfboard with Ninetails!

Pokemon:
Ninetails. Main moves:
Tackle
Surf (specially trained!)
Ember
Fire Blast

Seel. Main moves:
Headbutt
Horn Drill
Ice Beam
Surf (specially trained!)
@CaptainSully - thank you :D fixed the moves now for your checking!
@medalliah I like your character but I just need a couple of bits changed in terms of her pokemons moves. Can you keep it to four moves per pokemon in line with the games? It just leaves things nice and tidy. Also in terms of Ninetales having surf i'm going to have to say no. I mean by all means have it be comfortable with water, even hopping onto surfboards or whatever, but I cant accept it being able to use the move surf unfortunately.

I can reduce moves, that's not an issue! With Ninetails, we already have examples of pokemon using moves that they're normally weak against - Rydon being able to use Surf is the perfect example in my mind. I can change it, it just seemed very flavourful for the character.
@KatherinWinter

I posted to get things moving

Arts and crafts?

Aly wasn't sure how to feel about that. She was never very good at either, but she turned to the councilors. She really hoped there wasn't any artists in the room, that would be embarrassing.

"Um...where are the supplies?" Aly asked quietly.

@KatherinWinter
Actually it makes sense to, so character sheet...

A location for you; her parents watersports business!

Name: Wave of a Time!
Type: It's a commercial watersports venue, where they teach people to surf and other sports. They also rent out boats and speeders to the holidaying public
Location: Cinnabar Island

Description: A small beach shop is the main front of the business. It sells anything one needs to go swimming, but also sells lessons in surfing, wind gliding, and many forms of sailing.
