To Marquis, it was becoming increasingly clear that Alexi was mentally unhinged and should never be allowed within reach a functional firearm. So he did what any logical person would do and took the receiver back, placing it up onto the wall where it had been moments ago. A second later she even explained that she greatly prefered the sword that looked about ready to torch everything in sight to any other weapon, prompting the robot to hand back the blade.
”Well, in that case, you should probably contract a fire-proof scabbard and keep this in it unless you mean to make use of it.” She then responded to his inquiry about why exactly she was here, and gave quite the… unique answer, for lack of a better word.
”Well, the teleport code has already been terminated, and I have been monitoring Ni-Mu’s vitals from here. As has my compatriot…” The android turned his head to the corner usually occupied by Stark Zealot and squinted, ever suspicious of him.
”THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!” Alexi could hardly contain herself as she grabbed the sword from him as soon as he started motioning to give it back. She held it to herself, as though hugging a dear friend, or perhaps attempting to smother a small child. The blade was extinguished by her ice powers, the oil turning to ice and flaking off. Above her the umbrella of ice started falling VERY slowly. Like, a couple millimeters a second.
”Oh, it’s good to all be together again, it gets so lonely without you all.” She continued cradling the weapon in her arms, not paying much attention to Marquis’ suggestion for a little bit. However, she eventually managed to tear her attention away from her weapon to return Marquis’ gaze.
”So, in the end, you don’t need us? Kay. I’ll try and find my way out. There’s got to be an ice cream place somewhere.” Marquis watched in awe for a second, watching as the fire was extinguished the second she made contact with it.
”Amazing… cryomancers usually exhibit a crippling weakness to heat, but you just snuffed one out without issue…” He went quiet for a moment, running calculations through his head to determine exactly why this was the case.
”Oh, I do, but there wasn’t much fire. Like, you have a crippling weakness to being stabbed, but if we stabbed you with a little dinky knife, you’d be ok.” Alexi nodded agreeably, happy to explain more of her particular view of the world.
”I’m actually weak to being stabbed too.” She whispered to Marquis conspiratorially.
”We haven’t met someone who’s immune to being stabbed yet, though I’ve heard they’re out there. Like skeletons. Or ghosts. Or skeleton ghosts. Spooky right?”The robot turned to a monitor on his workbench, a recording of Ni-Mu’s vision filling the screen. He paused the video just as the prototype glanced over Ghelgath, who looked quite uncomfortable in the heat of Hohenheim’s lobby, despite the clone he had been fighting.
”This demon has a mastery over ice magic much like yourself, Alexi. The difference is that he has shown extreme discomfort with heat of any kind, and you just hugged out a flame fueled by oil.” He turned back around and grasped the girl’s shoulders, eye widening enthusiastically.
”If we can figure out why this happens in your case, we can revolutionize Machina technology! We’ll have an edge the opposition physically can never have!”Alexi seemed to be enraptured by the screen, and the sight of Ghelgath.. There was even a tiny bit of drool that seemed to be forming.
”Wow… He’s not like me, he’s amazing! Are you seeing what he’s been doing? He summoned monsters of ice! And they can fight and move on their own? And the sheer weight of ice in his attacks… So cool...” And then as Marquis grabbed her and turned her round to face him, her eyes spun a bit as she refocused on him.
”Well, maybe because he’s got ten times more ice, he’s got ten times more weakness?” She offered, still a bit confused and clutching for an answer. And then she smiled.
”Heh.. Cool.. I get it, good one guys.”Marquis’ excitement was quelled at Alexi’s theory, one arm crossing under his chest and the free hand stroking his metallic chin like a philosopher would a beard.
”That could very well be the case… though, with your consent, I would like to run some tests on you once I’m finished here.” He gestured to the sweater that was shoved to the corner of the work space, the wool creation somehow managing to look dejected.
”The results could prove invaluable to our cause.” The robot turned around once again and picked up where he left off, laying out the piece of clothing and resuming his scan on it.
”Sure, no problem. We don’t really do things when we’re not fighting.” Alexi answered, not really seeming to care or perhaps understand. And, she apparently had plenty of free time. A rather more soft smile overtook her neutral expression as a nice memory came upon her and her eyes drifted.
”Occasionally I get to eat something. Good times.”Marquis kept his head down, rather intent on finishing this scan so he could throw a sweater at a mechanical god.
”Are you saying you don’t eat? Because if that’s the case, go down to the mess and get something to eat. That’s an order.” A slight amount of concern came through his voice, emphasis on slight. The rest was a commander giving orders to take proper care of one’s body.
”Okedoke.” Alexi answered, spinning in place before setting off, blade still bare over her shoulder.
”And put that sword in a scabbard, you’ll take someone’s ear off like that.””But then it’s hard to draw.. It’s bigger than my arms..” Alexi answered, still leaving.
