You can use them for direct communication to another individual via a private channel if the speakers are on DataNet (name pending). Effectively, if they're communicating via a private channel, it would be theoretically invisible to everyone other than those on any platforms that information leaks to.

It's kind of complicated and the Guild isn't very conducive to that kind of system. When MR was on iFunny, it was effectively necessary since no beings other than humans could read the private chats.

I just thought of a way to potentially bypass the philotic threads. What if Fenris just manipulated the lower dimension it wanted to manifest in and created an avatar within it but in such a way as to make it seem as though he/she was "teleporting" or instantaneously appearing in different locations throughout existence? That way the avatar itself would not suffer any ill effects as it's being created in the dimension and thus doesn't have to go through the process that Tier Four's do when dimension hopping.

Effectively creating an avatar every time Fenris hops? Doable, but there could be potential connection issues, depending on what might interfere with it in the span of all of Existence. That, along with signal range and required energy input.
