Explanation: The spell remains locked in the activation phase, so just enough magic remains to maintain the remote cast. By the time the magic travels around the length of one inner circle, it has faded at the beginning and must be reigniteed by the remote cast.
*Taps my temple and the static effect fades*
In other words, the spell spins in circles trying to fully activate. And whenever we want to cast a spell at the beacon, we just have to shove it through the remote casting channel, which briefly overwrites the beacon's magic with the spell we wanna cast. And if we want to gate, we just have to give it enough magic to complete the spell.

Sure, I can show you that.

You have your normal Lesser Gate spell, which works exactly how you think it will. But we want it to both continuous cast and remote cast, so we add a few extras to the design and layout—
*Moves my hand in the swirling and looping pattern that makes up the circle*
This would use up a ton of magic to keep going. Of which, Gio has none.
*Grins*
So we have a workaround.
