Current I turned 40 recently. Nothing happened, no crisis or anything. Turns out it's just another year.

Is that so? Well, good news, I have made it so that I cannot go ballistic and shut everything down.
To start, I was wondering if the Guardian's have any connection with the Spirits? Are they able to communicate, or converse via mind or dream? Or is it more along the lines of a typical summoning? Has Mordrem effected the oceans or sea life in the Dark Zone? Can Guardians have artificial implants? Be it for physical enhancements or due to a loss of a limb? If so, will that effect their connections to the Spirits within them or the magic they're capable of?

Spirits that have escaped their natural embodiment inhabit their chosen sanctuaries, so they physically live inside Guardians' bodies. Guardians can interact with the physical apparitions, see them, and converse with them. However, spirits cannot verbalize, but they can show emotions through actions and movements.

Yes, sea life is affected. I haven't give any thought yet to how, but it's there. The most obvious sign would be receding shorelines. As Gaia exists in everything, it also exists in water. Therefore, Mordrem consume water as well.

Guardians gain all the physical enhancements they could ever want through spirit possession. But, if they lost a limb, then yes. Spirits are attracted to strength, the best of nature. Someone who is or becomes weak will not be able to protect them. So, an artificial limb could be interpreted as a weakness by spirits, which would lead the spirits to leave that Guardian.
@athanshadow@Fabricant451 Thanks for the interest, both. There is certainly a little bit of everything in this.

@Mag Lev The way things are setup allows for a lot of player freedom in terms of activity.

@FantasyChic That's great to hear!

I'm not in a hurry, so I will let this interest check sit for a while. Lore suggestions and worldbuilding is much appreciated, if someone is interested in that kind of thing.
Thank you, both.

Nice to see you again, Fantasy. I hope all is well with you.
You did, I remember you. There are some minor changes here and there, but the big difference is that the story is not as linear.

This story is about a world called Libra, which has been torn asunder by war with extraterrestrial creatures called Mordrem. Twenty years ago, an ambitious research facility experimented with teleportation technology in order to extend its reaches beyond the planet, but accidentally opened a gateway to another dimension through which the alien threat invaded. This incident is known as the Calamity.

Libra is unique in that all life is of an energy called Gaia, and each life has a spirit. Through their existence, the spirits gather experiences and memories with which they return to Gaia upon destruction, adding to the enrichment and cycle of life. Alas, the Mordrem thrive on the consumption of all organic matter of Gaia and spirits. This has caused the world to slowly wither away, and its remaining spirits to seek sanctuary in superior entities.

The war with the Mordrem is spearheaded by individuals known as Guardians. These are men and women who possess high spirit density in their bodies, allowing them to grow incredibly strong and harness the natural power of the spirits within. This power is widely known as magic. Guardians are crucial to the war effort, but they need to be trained just as any other soldier. In this roleplay, your primary character will be a Guardian who has recently completed his or her training at Oakridge Academy.

The gateway caused by the Calamity remains open, maintained by something on the other side. As long as it persists, Libra can never be liberated. It has taken the army—one of the few remaining institutions of the former government—many years to prepare for an operation that will attempt to close the gate. One way or another, your primary character will be selected for the horrific task of exterminating whatever slumbers on the other side.

The story begins at the dawn of these events, the final preparations.

This story will be told through episodes and seasons, like a TV show. Because of that, you are encouraged to roleplay several different characters along your primary one. It also means that the story will be dynamic and less linear. You are also free to come and go as you please, create new characters at your leisure, and add to the lore if you wish.

There will be a codex with plenty of information about the world, which we will expand upon together. The character sheet will be lightweight: it will include a realistic picture of your character, basic measurements such as height and age, an 'ideology' section that replaces 'personality', a background section, and a section for your primary character's spirits. As the story has a heavy focus on action scenes, such endeavors will be slightly moderated, so that things are fair and square.

The influences for this roleplay include games such as Final Fantasy, Half-Life, Dead Island, The Division, and films such as Edge of Tomorrow, Alien, and Interstellar. My ambition is to create a fluid roleplay that anyone can join, at any time, and that can possibly last beyond me. Any player that has shown dedication can request to be a co-GM and subsequently get all of my private notes.

➡ Standard forum rules and such apply. Be courteous to each other, compromise instead of complain, and communicate with me no matter how trivial the matter.

➡ A thousand words the is magic length for posts. I don't mind lengths below that (within reason), but anything beyond must be accompanied by a summary. The language should be fairly concise and easy to understand. I realize that writing is an art to some people, but there are certainly better ways to practice it than here.

➡ You can come and go as you please in this roleplay. There is no need to apologize for absences or otherwise. However, if you are active in the roleplay, please be consistent with your posting so that others do not have to wait for you.

i found out that Mods could EDIT and DELETE my POSTS. Thats just fucked up

They can read your private messages as well.
People who claim they want to do something, post a few times and then make up excuse after excuse as to why they're not posting before disappearing entirely. The worst is when they have the gall to give you attitude about anything later, had one of those not too long ago.

Add to that, people who are impatient and jump to their own conclusions and infuriate themselves when their partner has clearly stated the required attention of other obligations; people who don't give polite nudges, but have the gall to complain in threads like these instead. Indeed, these are the worst kinds of people.
I'm not going to bitch about this. (edit)
Read some critically acclaimed books. I'm currently reading "All the Light We Cannot See" by Anthony Doerr. He won the Pulitzer this year. Also, look into reading something like "The Elements of Style" by William Strunk. It has all the basics that all writers should know. Beware of the perceived 'advanceness' of the advanced section. Most of the post there are littered with pointless detail and the wrong usage of synonyms.
