"Well first you have to get on it hold into the bars with your hands and move only your upper body so the spring can bring you up to work on your stomach,Oh and I forgot to rest your legs here" Nicholas said now in his monotone voice touching the leg rest of the machine. Although he thought her stomach was magnificent and wished he could tell her other wise but a doubt in his head said that it could help her in crime fighting and he wanted to help her as much as he could.
Devika did as she was instructed, and groaned in pain as she tried it out. "Oww! Oh, holy crap..." She winced and held her abdomen. "Man, is it supposed to hurt like that?" She poked her soft stomach with a fingertip.
"And you don't" Connor replied, sitting down. "You seem worried. Stressed, but that isn't anything new with you. And I can practically hear the cogs working in your mind." he said softly
Kijani knew he was reading her eyes, and so she turned them to her food. How the heck had she made it through almost all of those pancakes? "Is there a question, Connor?" She snatched up her phone, but before she turned it on, she caught sight of her reflection on the screen. Her hair was half-escaped of it's ponytail, and she'd managed to miss a button on her shirt. The shirt was yesterday's shirt... Was she really losing her mind to walk around in public looking like a slob? "I'm stressed and I'm thinking." She lifted her shoulders in a weak shrug. "That's kind of a usual mode for me."
Nicholas stared at her for a few seconds before a grin came onto his face,"Am I really that easy to read?" He asked her sitting down beside the machine she would be using."Mhm then...No i do not know if I should..." Nicholas thought to himself his eyes close for a moment thinking of what to say next but couldn't find the right thin to say,He thought back to what his mother said to him."Maybe later" He said now opening his eyes that glimmered in the light. "But first we need to work on your muscles..." Nicholas said now rather cheerfully to her.
"You're easy for me to read, but probably not for others. I've spent my lifetime learning to discern people's emotions before I get close enough to feel them." She looked at the machine, and was curious about the expression on Nicholas' face. Was he tearing up? She wouldn't force him, though. "Okay, how do I use this?"
Sometimes Connor missed being home, seeing his parents every day. He sometimes wondered what it would of been like if he hadn't come here. And that thought scared him. Because he could picture it, so easily. Going to college, just floating along, No matter what, hhe would be thankful he came here. He watched his mother for a few moments, food forgotten. And he couldn't help but smile as his father came on screen, sneaking up on his mother, who laughed or he imagined so. He switched the phone off, He looked around, and within seconds saw Kijani. Was she eating pancakes? He had never seen her eat pancakes. She didn't even seem to be aware of them. He rose, winding through the tables, and people to her. He knew something was up, but didn't know what.
Kijani didn't know how long Connor had been near her. She'd been shoveling in pancakes without even tasting them, her mind spinning in circles about her plan, the plan she really didn't want to make. But if she was going to take her power back, she had to do it herself. She was going to protect the people she cared for, no matter what she had to do. "Morning." She smiled at him, forcing her lips upward. "You look happy."
Heroic!
Devika gave him an unimpressed look, before looking worried at Kalinda's outburst. Kalinda had certainly felt whatever Nick was feeling, much stronger than she had. It made sense to her that since their powers worked in different ways, they'd be more sensitive to different emotions. Devika knew she tended to absorb sadness and fear much more easily for some reason, and she wondered which Kalinda had felt from Nick. Even though she was annoyed with the other girl a bit, she still hoped Kalinda would be alright. Still, there was nothing she could do- the only way she knew to come down from that was serious alone time. "Alright, just a bit. Gym starts soon and I want to be able to walk straight." She followed him to a new machine. "By the way, I know you're lying, and I wish you wouldn't. It's probably worked for other people, but I can see 'hiding something' stamped on your forehead." She tapped herself between the eyes, and grinned. "If you don't want to talk about it, tell me that, but don't lie, okay?" -- Kijani found herself in the cafeteria. She vaguely remembered dressing and grabbing her things, but she had no idea what would possess her to get the buttermilk pancakes that were in front of her. Carbs and fatty dairy, and was that... maple syrup? She was really trying to hurt herself, huh? She didn't feel like getting up for something else, so she started eating in a half aware way. Sometimes she hated her secondary power. The email from yesterday was seared into her memory, and it kept replaying no matter how hard she tried not to think of it. She knew that her grandmother had been banking on that when she sent it, that Kijani would read the words too quickly to realize what they were. Now the threat had been embedded in her head, and she didn't know what to do. Well... she knew what to do, but it was just a matter of having the courage to do it.
If he wants Devika, he's gonna have to work for her. Getting upset will really just drive her away. (Also, a good pair of leather gloves may help if you want to hold her hand.) Also, gonna post with Kijani right about now.
Name: Kijani Ryane Gender: Female Age: 16 Parents: Normal parents, grandmother is Amanda Waller Powers: Powers: Kijani has the ability to manipulate paper, and control it’s density. She can turn an index card into a razor sharp blade, a book into a brick, and newspaper into armor. She can remember anything she’s read and recall it with accuracy. She also has a lot of grace on the battlefield, her primary talent being evasion and misdirection. Her fighting style is a blend of Tai Chi and Capoeria- moving with the flow of the fight, never stopping. Kijani’s self-invented style flows from move to move, never breaking stride even when she falls or is hit, it simply becomes another move in the dance. Bio: Kijani was born to two wealthy, brilliant people who happened to dislike each other. Her conception was essentially an accident, and her parents married out of propriety rather than love. She grew up cared for by a nanny while her parents worked and ignored her. When she was eleven, she was kidnapped off the streets and held for ransom. Her parents paid, she was released, but she was scarred, both physically and psychologically. That is, of course, the official story. From that day on she was never quite the same. She promised herself she’d never let that happen to her again, no matter what it took. Her nanny was fired, and Kijani pretty much raised herself from the age of eleven while her parents worked. She became an emancipated minor at the age of fourteen, took her inheritance from her parents, and used it to start living life on her own terms. Appearance: ^^^^^^^ Name: Devika Jones Gender: Female Age: 21 Parents: Birth- Empath (Manuel Alfonso Rodrigo de la Rocha)/Unknown mother. Raised: Anne and Reginald Jones Powers: Able to sense, absorb, induce and influence people's emotions. Bio: Devika was, oddly enough, an orphan foundling. Not of the 'picnic basket on the doorstep' variety, but close enough. Her parents found her in a park in the middle of summer. The baby wearing nothing but a diaper and a gold bracelet engraved with her name. Reginald and Anne Jones searched for the baby's parents everywhere, in every database the two laywers had access to, but there was no trace of them. By the time they figured out that her parents were long gone, they were already quite in love with the infant. They had never been able to have a child of their own, and so, feeling fate was giving them a gift, they adopted Devika. Devika's power was discovered when she was very young. She seemed to be a normal kindergardener, though she was rather on the high-strung side. That all changed one day on the playground. A little boy fell off the monkey bars and broke his wrist. While the child was getting medical attention, the paramedics noticed little Devika, crying her eyes out, holding her swollen right wrist. They checked her as well, but discovered absolutely no injury on her. Once this was reported to her parents, they started to put the pieces together. They started to teach Devika meditation, and how to keep her emotions in check. 16 years later, as an adult, Devika began to get very unhappy. Her powers were under control, but she felt like she was missing a large part of herself. She wanted to know who she was- and what she was really capable of. She was tired of living only part of her life, and so, with her parents help, she enrolled in the Academy. It took her several months to unenroll from her university, which is why she showed up in the middle of the semester. Appearance:
Connor is with Kijani, not Devika, but they're both played by Dizzy which is where the confusion arises :)
Yep. Kijani is 17 and kind of a bitch. Devika is 21 and rather shy due to her powers.
Yeah he is doing it but doesn't know he looks well sexy.
But, but... unconsciously sexy is the best kind!
"I can see that...well we can try to work on your leg muscles...or we could on your ab muscles.." Nicholas said taking a quick look at her thick thighs holding down a blush and feeling a hot tingle in his body. "Or we could work more on your arm muscles...if you want too" He said looking back at her eyes,The sweat off of the sweater was contacting around his body showing more of his six pack.
Devika nodded a bit, feeling a sudden wave of an emotion that she didn't recognize fully. It was like a tingling, discomfort, apprehensive feeling, but it was warm. Strange. She looked to Nicholas, adjusting her glasses. "You okay, Nick? I'm feeling some kinda anxiety." She really hoped he wasn't going to be too bothered by her unwillingness to go out with him. It wasn't him, really. It was her, and her power. All she'd seen when Nick had asked her on a date was the first (and last) boy she'd let herself love, and the consequences of that.
He's lifting weights, sweaty and kinda cut. Uh... that's hitting a lot of checkmarks for those of us who like that kind of man.
