Actually, all of my threads have been sitting still for the past two weeks, including the 1x1 RPs. I think this time of year everyone is getting ready for the new semester and there's no time. That, or everyone is leaving the site en masse.

Wing and Storm

Raln's thoughts were on the burning city they were leaving behind. At least they had done damage to the Mechanists, but it was far from enough. The woods, comparatively, were too quiet. The rain had stopped, and rivulets of water ran through the mud at their feet.

"Not being able to heal yourself doesn't sound like much of a price to me," he muttered. "That's like saying it's a curse that you're mortal like the rest of us." Maybe he'd offended her. He didn't quite care at the moment -- nor was he in the mood to go on a quest for a salve for one stranger's wound when so many of his closest friends had fallen in battle not so long ago.

"I'm not ungrateful for what you've done, but what are you and where do you come from? Are there more of you? And why aren't you with them?"

I think you guys technically have everything you need to get to the next world. You'll have to climb up the rock face a bit to get the stone, but I don't plan on inhibiting anyone any further.

The initiative is yours, you guys. But stay here with Morrian in front of the fire all you like, by all means. ^^

Wing and Storm

Raln had run a little ahead of her, dripping water as he went -- but when he no longer heard her footsteps behind him he turned to face the city they had just left behind. The downed airship was burning, its skeleton dangling between two buildings. From here, they couldn't hear the screams and gunfire, but Raln knew them well.

Although, a few dark shapes emerged from the moat and scattered in other directions. So more of the townsfolk had gotten out. Good.

His eyes were drawn to Solara at her request. The arrow certainly looked painful, and she had sustained the wound while carrying out his orders. Without hesitation he stepped forward, laid a hand on her feathers and eased the arrow gently from her wing. The wound looked worse than it had appeared before.

"Can you heal yourself?" he asked gravely.

Haha a mcnugget cult sounds ominously awesome. XD Competitive dance! In what way? Part of a group or solo? Can't say I know anyone else who does that.

The inspectors' stories... the ones that stand out include the inspector who was physically attacked by a business owner and feared for his life; the warehouse that had a dozen homeless people living in the food storage area; and one inspector said he once found unidentifiable meat in a freezer -- the owner was soon after arrested and convicted of murder. The inspector swears it was human flesh he found, but nobody really believes him. XD

Definitely looking forward to developing these characters! :3

To anyone else, the quaint picture of a big, loving family would warm the heart and soothe the soul. Anyone else might be pleased to have the chance to stay here in this warm house -- but this place was too neat, too polite, too perfect. He caught the strained look between David and Jason. Yuri felt a chill of dread to think of staying here. He would have to remain passive and vigilant, keep his guard up and his thoughts buried.

The only anomaly seemed to be that redhead. The disappointment of the family, he assumed by the way Jason apologized for her. There was always one.

Yuri nodded respectfully to David and accepted the offered seat, letting his pack down beside him. "It is an honor to meet you, sir, ma'am," he said as he tipped his head to David and Rosemary. "I thank you sincerely. You have a beautiful home." He probably said a bit more on the subject of gratitude and compliment, but his voice spoke automatically without his thinking much about it. He knew by now what to say to put people at ease in his presence.

During the conversation, his origin and presence in town was inevitably brought up. "I'm originally from Tolos, but as a trader I've traveled to most parts of the world. I deal in exotic goods and enchantments." Upon request he would readily produce a gold shimmering feather he had obtained from a monstrous bird in the desert; a beautifully painted mask from a tribe in the jungle; and a little pink stone that floated above his palm as if it were magnetized. "There is only a small market for my wares, though. Most of my time is spent working farms and construction. I know horses, goats and sheep particularly well. I'm proud to work, and to use my strength and skills however they will best assist you."

It was the same spiel, every single time. His voice might have sounded rehearsed, but he looked at David with sincerity and confidence in his skills.

It's cool. XD I'm done with school, all I've got is the desk job. The best stories, though, are the ones I hear from the inspectors. Every one of them has had horrific experiences, and they always handle it with amazing professionalism. Major respect for everything they do. But how're you? What's up? :D

Haha, yeah she's brilliant -- and your posts are all amazing btw. I squee with joy every time. And please don't feel pressured to push boundaries, I don't mean it that way at all. ^^; Characters are who they are, and they'll do what they're gonna do and feel what they're gonna feel. All we can do is go with the flow. Yuri's not himself at all right now, just trying to appear stoic and honorable for the sake of not being run out of town. Hopefully he'll be more entertaining once we get into the swing of it. x3
