Anemia sucks. I feel like there's an invisible vampire sucking my energy through a straw.

@Disciple Cain Good question! I've purposely left that vague to see what sort of characters would come up, as this is a completely made-up world with "Low-Tech" as the only cap. So far we've got hang gliders and soda cans as the top of the technology -- it's probably a weird mix, and that's awesome. xD
@Ghost Queen I'm not concerned about godmodding and overpowered abilities. ;) Everything -- down to the most minor detail -- has to fit with the overall consistency of the world, the physics, the magic system, and the plot. If a character suddenly throws in an unexpected reveal (they have a minor clairvoyant ability, or they're haunted by a dead relative, or their family was killed by wizards) I have to scramble to change the magic system, the plot, and the physics in order to accommodate that and make it make sense alongside everything else. Most of the time the player is just honestly trying to make the game more awesome, but it causes me unnecessary stress when I wasn't expecting it.

Please don't surprise the GM! The game will be 100% more fun for everyone (including me!) if everyone freely uses my PM box. ;)
@tex Thanks for bringing this up! :D

Magic isn't available to the villagers -- it's not used, it's barely heard-of, and it's fairly volatile in nature. So, no, I'd have to say it's not possible that magic was used in any way in any sort of surgery.

Having no feeling in his arms and having dense bones due to breaking them are both plausible in real-life, though, without magical involvement. Damage to the nerves/spine would do the trick! Either through injury or chemicals.
@Acromantula It is absolutely not necessary to mention equipment. :)
@Aquaknight A cheerful thief is most definitely welcome! Approved!

@LostBrotherGrimm Looks good! :D
@Tombprince Sure! Go for it! :D
@LostBrotherGrimm Haha, I think we know who's going to be responsible for getting everyone into trouble. ;) Approved!
@Ghost Queen Hahaha see now, this kind of statement makes me nervous. xD Just promise I can expect a PM at some point between now and then! Maybe after the world is made clear and the character is developed. But yes -- I am not the one you want to surprise. Surprise them! We'll be in cahoots on the surprises! I can help! ;D
@Mokley
I'd like to know your limits on power development. How strong can a warrior get? How powerful could a mage become, or how sneaky a their?

You mean in the beginning or at endgame?

In the beginning, we're all human here! Nothing unusual. :)

At endgame, I honestly don't know yet. Probably pretty damn powerful. I've been known to give godly powers to PCs. I'll let you know as we go what your limits should be as you gain power. It'll be clear once we get into it!
@Mokley I'm interested, but I'd like to know: are there any rules past what's already been said that we should keep in mind? Aside from RPG's basic guidelines, anyways.

I'm not sure to what type of rules you're referring. Language & violence? God-modding? Control of the environment? :)

There is one thing that often comes up, as far as limits go: Please don't surprise the GM.

As GM, it's my job to make sure that everything in the world -- including the environment, the magic system, the plot, and everything that is possible or impossible -- work together in a coherent, understandable way. As much as things may seem chaotic and unrelated and anything-goes, I always do base them on core concepts. Nothing means nothing!

I only ask that you guys keep that in mind when you have an idea for your character's personal plot, or you want to suddenly discover an ability, or create your own piece of the environment or make something cool happen in your IC post. It's awesome to surprise all the other players, but please PM me first. I very very rarely say you can't do something -- but I will do what I can to make sure that what you want to do will work in such a way that it fits in the world. ;)

In other words, my PM box is an open and friendly place, full of opportunities and brainstorming and epic secret plots!

In other other words, Mokley does not like surprises.
