Jenna Westbrook

Location: Town Center

Jenna took a deep breath, not even glancing up at the investigator as he announced himself. Of course, it was a reasonable thing for him to do. Had she been working this case (which in a way, she was), she would have asked the girl throwing a bitch fit at the crime scene. It was proper investigative practices. "Typical adolescent team drama," Jenna said. She pulled herself to her feet and wiped her eyes on the sleeve of her jacket. She didn't particularly care if she looked presentable, but she hated having wet eyes. They somehow felt itchy.

She could make out Finley in the background but she honestly didn't want her help at the moment. She could go pound salt for all Jenna cared. "I intern for the police - I was just on my way out. Are you supposed to be here without an escort? It is a crime scene..." Respond and deflect. Her father would have been proud. She took a quick glance around, just to check and see if the ghostly Mayor Ryder had any other useful tidbits for her. The sooner she got away from all the assholes of Red Lake and to the relatively secluded lifestyle of Kosara and Abe, the better.

Cecily Ashworth

Location: La Hacienda - Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico
Skills: Constitution, Marvel Universe Knowledge

Cecily's eyes widened a bit with excitement when Natasha mentioned she had seen all the movies. While she knew some that would have passively sneered at a comment like that, Cecily didn't carry any sort of prejudices. A fan of the material was a fan, regardless as to what medium they consumed it in. Someone who just watched the movies wasn't lesser a fan than someone who only watched the animated cartoon or just read the comics in their favorite run. "Just curious," Cecily answered.

To be truthful, it was probably also a way of her deflecting from everything that was happening. She delved into comics and stories in order to escape her own reality. And now, in this world of shadowy organizations and hitmen, she could more easily understand the plots of Magneto and Dr. Sinister than she could Juno. "Thought it might be nice to talk about something not so...terrifying," Cecily then admitted. "The next one's supposed to be Dark Phoenix...I'm really curious as to what they'll do. As much as I love the Dark Phoenix saga, the Shi'ar and all may not translate that well to the big screen, since they haven't quite ventured into cosmic X-Men stories yet...But Future Past did well, so it'll probably be good." She had to stop herself before she started rambling. Fortunately, her phone had received a few texts that required her attention.

The transfer had been halted - good. And then there were messages from Riley and Roy.

To Riley:
You'll shoot your eye out! -C

To Roy:
If I'm Rogue, then I think I could make it work. Rock the skunk hair and all. -C

Iris Kingston

Location: Justice Asylum
Skills: Disguise (Jaina)

Something came over Iris all of the sudden. As if she possessed a hidden strength that was unknown even to herself, she flexed her wrists and the bonds broke. She blinked in astonishment, smiling despite the death and decay that had already made its home in the isolation ward. The hardest part of the battle was over - her biggest worry was then attracting the attention of an orderly or a nurse, in order to be let out. Jaina and Risa had taken her keys.

Iris walked over to the door, listening for a moment to see if she could hear anyone. She figured the worst case scenario was that someone would come looking for her, after missing a meeting with a patient, or that a nurse would come by to bring Jaina her medicine and some food. "Send 'elp!" Iris shouted as loudly as she could, her accent bleeding in more than normal. "We have another orderly down and a patient escaped!"

Towards the exit of the asylum, Jaina mulled over Risa's words. She had to blend into the crowd and move like cattle now? She never imagined a bovine secret agent, but she supposed that a master assassin (she still didn't quite believe that job meant anything) would know what was what. And besides, Risa was Circus. She trusted her. So Jaina walked behind Risa, with a blank expression on her face. She swayed her neck slightly from side to side, mimicking how she thought cattle moved.

Jaina paused for a moment behind Risa, glancing around the room they had entered. She could see the next door - their next destination. But she still needed to follow Risa's instructions and while she had a blank face and the mildly bovine like movements, was it really getting across the cattle point? She could do much better! And besides, she liked this game. It was a lot more fun than anything she had done in the asylum with the doctors - aside from yesterday (and today's!) painting sessions!

She took a deep breath, before saying in the most monotone and serious voice she could muster: "MOO."
@FantasyChic On day 8, you have till day 10
@RoccanIronclad Alright. I will say that I have noticed that you are incredibly active elsewhere on the forum, as well as launching a new RP within the past few days. I will admit that I am a bit disappointed that you bailed on a RP you were in previously due to time constraints, just after starting a new one. But such is life. You have now been removed from the RP.

Dr. Dorothy Pender & Dr. Fitz Townsley

Location: Lady Luck's
Skills: N/A

Dorothy continued to pace up and down the street outside of Lady Luck's. She couldn't decide if she was ready to rejoin the others quite yet. Her emotions were tearing her apart, with her mind analyzing simultaneously all and yet no possible solutions. Why had her sister acted like that? Was there something wrong with Daphne that she had overlooked out of sisterly affection all of these years? Was she sick? Did she need help? Or was Dorothy reading too much into it, allowing Jahosafat to color her thoughts and opinions?

She sighed as she stopped in her tracks, well aware of the fact that she was in the middle of the street. Let someone shout at her for blocking the path - she didn't care. She could use a fight at the moment anyways. She toed the ground slightly, trying her best to take calming breaths as she counted to ten. Maybe she'd give Daphne a medical exam later - and perhaps at their next stop, she could use some of her funds to contact a companion or a psychologist to speak with her. Their childhood on Boros was hardly easy - maybe this was a manifestation of that? She knew next to nothing about psychology yet she could still reason and it seemed logical to her. She was very much aware of her own issues that stemmed from childhood - maybe these were just Daphne's.

Meanwhile, Fitz wasn't quite buying Anisa's explanation about a barber. He had a twin sister and he knew for a fact that although her hair went everywhere in the house, it was never bad enough to hire a full time barber. Even after she had come home from days at the lab, with her hair a frizzy mess, it didn't need that. Fitz couldn't tell if they were pulling his leg or if Foy's status as a barber was a cover for something more sinister. At least Jackie seemed to agree with him - there was no way they'd have a barber paid just to be on their ship.

"Pai gow poker?" Dorothy suggested. She had come back inside, apparently having had enough of fresh air, just in time to hear Jackie list off various card games. She adored cards and one of the first games she had ever learnt, perhaps ironically, was double-hand poker. It was sometimes also referred to as pai gow poker and it had been a favorite among the regulars at her father's establishment. She then took a vacant seat down next to her sister, giving Daphne a quick reassuring smile. It only served to mask the uncertainty she felt on the inside.

"A-any game is fine with me...R-ratscrew is really fun, but it's not really a gambling game...I d-do have Clue - it's an old game from Earth-that-Was - if an-an-anyone is interested in playing that at some point...It's vintage."

"I think ancient would be the appropriate term," Dorothy pointed out, yet she didn't seem disinclined.

Beatrice Decker

Location: in a TANK
Skills: None

Beatrice tilted her neck from side to side, stretching out her muscles as she worked out the small bits of tension in her body. While she was inside of a tank, she wanted to be prepared for anything. Today she was the predator and Eden was the prey. The cracked her knuckles and rolled her wrists, feeling herself becoming a little more mobile, a little more ready for the unexpected. There was a slight delay before the radio communication was returned. "I copy," Beatrice radioed back, before ceasing communication. She didn't necessarily like that the other team was still twenty minutes out - there was a ten minute gap - but it would have to do.

"They're twenty minutes out from their destination," Beatrice relayed to Lola. Even Lola appeared to be transitioning from a relaxed and carefree mode to one ready for combat. She couldn't help but wonder what exactly Lola would be having her do in the tank. She had never given too much thought to the various roles needed to be filled inside one of these metal traps. In fact, she couldn't be certain if someone told her, years ago, to pick which was more likely - her learning to assist in a tank or the outbreak - that she would have picked the former.

"Let me know when you're ready for the crash course," Beatrice requested. She didn't bother making small, idle chitchat with Gavin anymore. They all had jobs to perform, roles to fulfill. Otherwise, this could easily turn into a slaughter of the Newnan associates and not the likes of Eden.

Nora Kingston

Location: Permit Office
Skills: N/A

Nora felt the chill of disappointment and resignation flood her system as the officer dismissed them without even truly listening. She had given an able explanation of the mathematical intrigue behind the site, one that she was confident even the uneducated layperson could understand. She was certain that it wasn't an intellectual barrier that was in her path, but a societal one. Her dissatisfaction with society had led her to self imposed isolation and resignation at this point. Yet she felt those feelings turn from dejection to frustration and drive, with Lady Munn acting as the catalyst as she prevented the window from closing.

She stared the man down as Lady Munn spoke her piece this time, before positively beaming as they received the permit. She had never felt this empowered before. Had she been alone, she would have simply left and gone home, working on whatever math problem she had selected for amusement. Yet here was proof that her gender did not have to be a limitation - that the society constructions were not all inhibiting. Despite the annoyance and frustration the man caused, Nora had never quite felt so satisfied with life. Her hope had been restored.

"Well done, Lady Munn," Nora said earnestly. "You have my compliments - I must confess I thought our efforts had been futile after his clear rejection, but you...That was a remarkable display." And with the permit, she imagined they had already overcome the largest of their hurdles. She recalled the matter of finances for the expedition had already been sorted. And with this renewed vigor and confidence, she no longer felt obligated to seek her father's approval. If he was cross with her for going on the expedition, so be it.

Virginia Crypt

Location: Russian Imperial Circus Tent City (Regent's Park)
Skills: N/A

Virginia didn't mind the lack of a need for grand introductions. It was more reminiscent of family gatherings, where it didn't matter what position you held or what titles you claimed, as long as you were a Crypt. And even then, sometimes the rule could be a bit slack. Alfred, their dear butler, was a Fawley yet he was considered a Crypt. Outsiders were welcome to attend as guests of any member of the family and for that evening, they were considered Crypts as well. It was a place of belonging for misfits, those who could never quite be classified as odd, those who would attract the attention of the Catholic Church and be suspected of lacking a soul.

Virginia glanced at the individuals assembled, taking a quick count of those present. Not all of the Graveolase was here, then. It was the first thing about this specific assembly these evening that struck her as rude. While not all had to travel distances so far, it was clear to her that some members of the Graveolase had put in an effort to make an appearance. In her mind, it was disrespectful to the other members of the Graveolase and those that had traveled such lengths to meet with them. She eventually settled on noting this as being another thing she did not appreciate about normals.

Her attention was soon caught by a chorus of voices - well, a singular voice proclaiming that he wasn't mad. Her eyes lit up, filled with what appeared to be a dreamy excitement. The mentally ill were perhaps her favorite people. She adored deviances in psychology, finding the variations in the mind to be some of the most fascinating subjects to peruse in the world. Lady Dywell had been quite mad as well, helping to shape Virginia's viewpoint. Yes, she was certain that she'd have a wonderful conversation with the strange man - better than she would have with any other member of the Graveolase present.

She gasped slightly, absolutely enthralled as the madman turned into a small creature. How odd! She had never seen anything quite like it before. Not only did the man exhibit abnormal behavior, he also appealed to her interest in the Soulless - and the techniques that accompanied them. It had to be some sort of trained technique, Virginia reasoned. Or perhaps he had simply been born in such a manner - she supposed it had to be possible. The Crypt Family had their fare share of human anomalies from their stories.

Virginia hardly cared for the conversation between Mary and the Graveolase members. She was too busy enjoying watching the spectacle that the madman had provided. "He's wonderful," Virginia said with a smile. By the time he had finished his routine and run up to Mary, Virginia gave him a light smattering of applause. After the emotional weight of the last twenty four hours, she hadn't realized how much she needed something as light and carefree as that. Her eyes widened slightly at his exclamation of her being an alabaster Bella. Was it a coincidence for him to call her that name, after all of the talk of the deadly nightshade?

She doubted it was coincidence. The universe was rarely so lazy. Virginia smiled kindly at the man, kneeling down slightly to offer him a hand in order to rise to his feet. "That was truly spectacular - delightful, really. I've never seen anything quite like it." Virginia complimented. "And please do call me Virginia." She didn't feel a need to insist on titles or circumstance. She realized how unusual it was for an earl's daughter to introduce herself using her first name to a strange man she had just met - yet she was a Crypt. This man wasn't a normal. He was someone that she felt was a kindred spirit.
