It seemed that Nine wasn't the only one that was angry. Twelve was a towering figure, at over six feet tall with a muscular and well defined build. He had scowled throughout the majority of the talks, clenching and unclenching his fists. His veins were throbbing and had anyone been able to see through the fog, it would have been palatable. Something strange had began to come over him and he suddenly gasped, collapsing to the ground. His heart was pounding and he couldn't quite draw in the air he needed. Blood began to trickle out of his nose as he went into a death rattle, before he stopped moving altogether.

Nine's blood chilled as she heard one of her number collapse. Had he been shot in the fray and succumbed to his injuries? Or were the results of the experiments conducted on them simply not stable? Were they lab rats, doomed to die? She had no way to confirm what the guard was saying was true - yet a thousand reasons to doubt the validity of the source. Two's question brought a vague game plan to mind for Nine. She needed to get medical attention for her shoulder wound. Yet knowing why they were in the labs wasn't enough - they needed to know who they were. They needed to remember this world if they were going to be able to survive.

"If you scouted the place, where did they keep their records on who we were?" Nine finally asked. "We'll need to find some sort of medical facility as well...Just in case someone else might be about to collapse."

Iris Kingston, Jaina Sarbye, and Risa Couri

Location: Justice Asylum
Skills: Acrobatics (Jaina), Micro-Expression Interpretation (FACS Training) (Risa), Disguise (Jaina)

"If we hurry we should catch him," Risa said before peaking out down the hallway again as she waited for Jaina to get dressed. They needed to hurry. She had secured the doctor well so she wasn't worried about her right then but an orderly or nurse could come by at anytime. They needed to move and move fast. Looking back over at Jaina she waited for her to get done. Lucas was supposed to be waiting in the main waiting area downstairs for them. Hopefully nothing had gone wrong down there.

"The Great Bazhooli is here?" Jaina asked, her eyes wide with astonishment. One of the major downsides of living in an asylum was the lack of interaction with the outside world. She didn't know the circus schedules and where they were touring. The thought that the circus was in Justice was positively intoxicating. She was an acrobat and she had been confined to the ground for far too long. She yearned to fly across a room with the aid of a trapeze, all with an adoring audience cheering her on. With her make up complete, Jaina changed into the clothing that Risa offered her and then beamed. "Let's go~!"

"Yes, the Russian Circus has it's final performance tonight. We have to hurry to get Cynthia, can't let her miss the show. She's never seen it," Risa said before shoving what Jaina had changed out of into the trash can and peeking back out of the door. The coast was clear for now. And now came the hard part. Getting Jaina to act... Normal. "Now is time for performance of your life. You have to act like the doctor until we get outside," she said before pushing the door open fully and stepping back into the hallway.

Jaina stopped in her tracks for a moment. She had to act like the doctor?! They were universally acknowledged to be beings that hated happiness, joy, and anything pure in this world. Why on Earth would she want to act like the doctor? It felt like a question of moral integrity. Was helping Cynthia really worth sacrificing her soul? True, they were the bestest of friends....And Cynthia hadn't seen the Russian Circus before. She could see all of her friends again! They could dance and play knives! Jaina perked up again, before following Risa down the hallway.

"Oh my baguette!" Jaina said. "I dare say a spot of tea will ruin everyone's joy. Get on it! Cheerio! Increase the doses for everyone!" Jaina declared, her nose up slightly in the air as she did what she felt was a fairly accurate portrayal of Iris. Iris, meanwhile, was struggling against her bonds without any success. There was a dead orderly on the ground next to her and she couldn't help but wonder how long it would be until someone noticed her predicament when doing rounds. Screaming wouldn't help at all - it was an asylum. People screamed all the time that they needed to be let out.

Okay, maybe asking Jaina to act like the doctor wasn't the best idea but they had managed to get off the floor and into the stairwell without issue. Only reason was probably because there was no one around. As they were heading down the stairs Risa knew she had to fix this and quickly before they reached the main floor. "That is amazing. Sounds just like her. Can you do what I do?" she asked as she placed her hands on her hips and sashayed down the stairs. Maybe if she got her into a game of mimic it could work better.

Jaina processed the new information for a moment. Risa had told her to act like the doctor until they went outside and now she had to mimic her as well. It'd be a bit of a challenge, given that she'd never seen Iris move her hips like that, but she could make it work. She was Circus stock! If she couldn't figure out how to combine the two seemingly opposite directions, then she wasn't worth her salt. Jaina then nodded eagerly, before placing her hands on her hips and mimicking Risa's movement down the stairs.

"Right on guvnah I can do what you do!" Jaina exclaimed. "I learned how to do this during tea with the Queen! Pip pip! Say, let's go invade a country and make a new colony! Huzzah!"

The Caribbean: April 9th, 1719 - 5:06 PM Local Time

Once upon a time...

There was a group of women, noble and strong, along with two rather deranged men. For one reason or another, these strangers happened to come together in Tortuga, the last true haven for pirates in the Caribbean Sea. Their purposes all differed drastically but it does not matter. They all shared a story in the end. This is the story of the Cursed Flask, a flask thought to give the wielder the power of the gods.

Yet it was more than just that. Those who drank from the flask could not contain the power and soon died as a result of their newfound powers. Just as few knew of its existence, even less knew how to safely use its power. Mr. Alucard, a grieving widow, had become obsessed with raising his wife Caroline from the dead after the flask claimed her life. The English wished to weaponize it. La Fraternité du Sang wished to rule with it. Yet none of them held the flask at the end. No, it was a prostitute or assassin (depending on the day) who received its power...who became the new host of Hecate.

Now if you think this is where our story ends, you are surely mistaken, for it has just begun. The strange events at Tortuga have brought stranger tides to the Caribbean, changing the world forever. Gods, magic, and monsters are not the stuff of legend - they are real and vibrant, powerful and deadly, merciful and cruel. This is but a chapter in a never ending tale of strange new waters.

Sirena Ikaria: While the flask was destroyed, Sirena was not restored to life. She remained a spirit, adrift yet simultaneously chained to the island of Tortuga. By the year 1909, she had become famous as the Enchantress of Tortuga, rumored to be the ghost of a slain pirate cursed to forever walk the island. The best-selling graphic novel, L'Enchanteresse de l'île de la Tortue, is currently in talks to be produced by Walt Disney Studios in spring of 2019. There's a lot of speculation about who the Enchantress once was, with some suggesting that it could have been the lost Duchess of Albemarle, Harlianne James.

Harlianne James: For a while, Captain James sailed with Aravis, Margot, Anastasia, and Elissa in her newest stolen vessel, the Syren. Yet the others eventually moved on, leaving the Caribbean for new adventures. But the Caribbean was in her blood and Harlianne couldn't leave. Instead, she was offered a rare opportunity by the English government - a pardon. She was sanctioned to commit acts of piracy against the Spanish and the French. The alternative was to be executed.

Aravis Zacharia: Aravis sailed the Syren with the others, before she began yearning for a new adventure in the Americas. She convinced Elissa to go with her, with the two making their way to the Massachusetts colony. For a while, all was well as they traveled from colony to colony, having grand adventures together and living their best lives. Yet that changed when during inflamed tensions with the native tribes, Aravis was mistaken for a Native American and shot by a drunken colonist. She died from an infection in the wound.

Édouard Riviere: Édouard remained in the Caribbean for a while, spending a fair amount of time in Havanna. La Fraternité du Sang had disintegrated, collapsing in on itself as a result of Margot's actions. Yet he was still rich and able to live with a certain amount of comfort and luxury. His engagement with Alice Blackwood was called off when his family lost their position of power and in late August, he was nearly murdered in his sleep. All rumors point towards Margot as having been the culprit.

Virginia Crypt, Jean Waverly, and Alice Blackwood: This unlikely trio made their way back to Europe as soon as ships were available. With her parents deceased, Virginia's brother inherited the family fortune. James Crypt and Alice Blackwood had an unlikely romance, with their being rumors of something coming between Virginia and Jean as well. The four of them are currently off on holiday, doing what Virginia referred to as the world's greatest tour of serial murders and atrocities.

Margot Riviere: Margot never returned to France. Her goal hadn't been to gain power in La Fraternité du Sang, but rather to destroy it. With her power mad sister dead, Édouard refusing to leave the Caribbean, and her father's sudden turn of health for the worse, war broke out amongst the various families. The bloodshed continues still but there is no hope of it ever reorganizing to what it once was. As for Margot, she currently works as a mercenary, putting her unique skillset to use. She sleeps without trouble at night.

Anastasia Ridgeway: After deciding to retire from piracy, Anastasia had booked passage for the New World. With every intention of starting a new life for herself, her pirate brand betrayed her. She was caught by an officer of the East India Trading Company and was sent to prison, where she is currently awaiting execution without trial. Whether or not she manages escape has yet to be seen, but she's Anna Nine Fingers. Anything is possible.

Elissa Isley: Elissa remained with Aravis, Harlianne, and the others for a little while before heading with Aravis to the Americas. After Aravis' death, she began to make plans to return to Prussia in order to kill her father and exact her revenge. Along the way, she ended up falling in love with a Bulgarian sailor named Petrus. They're planning to murder her father together. True love, right? And to make matters more interesting, she's expecting twins.

MI13 Academy: May 28th, 2018 - 9:41 A.M. Local Time

Were you wondering what happened to Millicent, my dears? Do not be afraid. It is now time to see what happened to her next in our story. Back outside of the lecture hall at MI13 academy, back where Abney gave a lecture on deviances and the discovery of the wreck of the Bellona, along with the shattered fragments of the glass, sits two individuals in plain clothes. If they are not already familiar to you, they one day will be.

The shorter of the pair glanced up from the pages of a book, shutting it closed. "They don't have any information on it," she explained. "Even if it was coded, I would know it...They can't hide things from me. You know this." She then paused, glancing upwards towards the other woman. "You do have a plan, right? After what happened to Hel...Even I couldn't reverse that."

Yet none of this seemed to phase the second woman. Millicent's lips curled slightly as she smiled. She hadn't aged a day since the events in the Caribbean. "They are mere puppets, and I, the puppet master," Millicent said slyly. She then reached into her pocket, pulling out an old ring. Its stone was missing. "That mortal had a knack for finding these treasures - it should only be that much easier for I, a goddess, to accomplish."

"Right...Well, it's not in Odin's treasure room," she replied, standing up from her seat. "The stones are scattered across the galaxy, the cosmos, maybe even the multiverse..."

"It'll be all the more fun, then. I could use a challenge."

Province of Carolina: September 28th, 1719 - 1:29 P.M. Local Time

In the Province of Carolina, a newly inhabited home stood not too far from the center of a well to do town. Its occupants were the new surgeon in town, a peculiar man named Mr. Alucard, and his only daughter. While his daughter appeared to be the ideal woman for the era, a strong and healthy schoolteacher who had traveled the Caribbean and much of Europe, Mr. Alucard was a recluse. He was hardly ever seen by the towns folks, with some rumoring that he had been involved the trade and production of illicit substances.

But the truth is far stranger than fiction.

At the end of the winding halls of the home, Mr. Alucard worked furiously in his study. His first attempts at restoring his dear Caroline to life had been futile. They had caused what pirates were referring to as the Tortuga Paradox - an event where individuals were both dead and brought back to life within weeks. Only a relatively few individuals on Tortuga had actually perished, despite mass reports that they too had gone to their watery graves.

"Tillater brukeren å stjele, kontrollere, manipulere og endre levende og døde sjeler. Soul Gem er også inngangsporten til et idyllisk lommunivers. Med fullt potensial, gir Soul Gem brukerkontrollen over alt liv i universet."

Mr. Alucard's eyebrows furrowed. His trembling hands reached into his desk drawer, opening it to reveal nothingness. He then carefully removed the false bottom, only to reveal a glowing ring. "Sweet Caroline, I will see you again," Mr. Alucard whispered. He turned the ring over in his hand carefully three times, tears sliding down his face. He glanced at the text once more, reading the Norwegian words.

"I've found the Soul Gem, my dear," Mr. Alucard whispered. "With it, I can control all life in this universe...I can raise the dead." He then dropped the ring back into the false drawer, replacing its disguise. "Only five more to go..."

Guinevere Stark

Location: Brotherhood Headquarters - Outside the Main Lab - New York, New York
{"If I can't save the world, then I'll just have to avenge it."}

Guin was gradually getting a grasp on her situation. It hadn't been Wanda that caused the switch - it had been her. Her mind raced through the possibilities. Could it have been an effect of the first serum that Magneto released - the one prior to the fatal dose? She supposed it could have caused a mutation...or even caused a non-expressed X-gene to activate. Yet as much as she wanted to systematically analyze what had happened to her, there was a bigger problem. S.H.I.E.L.D. and Stark Industries were both compromised as long as Wanda was in her body.

"Agent Stark is compromised," Guin said, reaching her hand out and trying to destroy the com device on her body. She didn't want Wanda to have access to it. Yet she was unable to remove it. She sounded just like Wanda, with the same soft lilting accent. She knew the X-Men there would have no reason to believe her - but she had to try, at least. If Wanda decided to pretend that she was Guin, it could ruin the team's efforts to secure the drug. Guin cursed under her breath as Wanda punched her again, but at least it was doing damage to the Scarlet Witch's body and not her own.

Her heart broke slightly when Pietro didn't realize they had been switched. She shouldn't have expected any of them to be able to see what had happened from a logical standpoint, but it didn't matter emotionally. "Pietro - that's not Guin," Guin warned. "P.H.I.L. stands for Prototype of a Helpful Intelligent Likeness. He doesn't have very many functions at the moment, but he can use the gradient in order to determine electric potential as it relates to an electric field. He's also adept at determining the appropriate Gaussian surface to use when dealing with a uniform charge density. I'm still making modifications for the nonuniform...And he played Take On Me after we used the Joyride Protocol," Guin then added. Hopefully, that'd be enough to convince Pietro that at least something was up. Scarlet Witch, as far as S.H.I.E.L.D. intel was concerned, didn't have any technical skills.

Guin then turned to see Adder heading towards her. "I'll hold him off - just get the serum and have Cassandra handle it," Guin said. She hoped that Pietro would realize what had happened, otherwise it would just seem like Scarlet Witch was either insane or had suddenly switched sides. She took a deep breath, before holding her hand out in front of her.

"I am one with the force and the force is with me," Guin muttered, before pushing her hand forward, her fingers tensed. And this time, it worked. The Adder was sent flying backwards, crashing up against the wall. Guin couldn't help but grin. She was finally having some success with this.

Nancy Parker

Location: Ville au Camp: Main House (Room 202)
Skills: Acting

Had anyone else been present, the scene unfolding between Nancy and Giouse would have either been comical or worrying. An apparent young adult was being asked by a far older man to submit her wrists so that way she could be handcuffed. The connotations were overwhelmingly negative. But they didn't cross Nancy's mind at all as she carefully tucked her cards into the jumpsuit and then stuck out her wrists. It certainly wasn't the strangest situation she had ever been in and she doubted it would be the last.

She slouched slightly, putting more weight on her left foot than her right as she adopted the mannerisms of Ashley, ex-Browncoat extraordinaire. "Congratulations, you put cuffs on a gorram woman," Nancy - no "Ashley" taunted. She bit back a small smile, the first near slip up she had had so far. But she supposed as much as she disliked them, this is what rehearsals were for. Eve probably wouldn't like the idea of her leaving the loop, but she and Drem had shared a certain wanderlust. She was dying to stretch her legs and get a change of scenery.

"Before you send me to the west, make sure Eve and Gil are on board with you taking the Paradoxes out that far," Nancy added. Eve could be a bit of a tight ass and she had a feeling that Lady Luck may not be on their side. And as much as she did want to leave the loop and have an adventure, adventures were always better with other people. She then had a sudden craving for a caramel chew. "Caramel me - please. Should be in the pocket of my clothes," Nancy requested. Giouse had already folded them up carefully and with the handcuffs on, it seemed easier to just ask him.

Andromeda Aldrich

Location: Ville au Camp: Main House (Sitting Room)
Skills: None

They were definitely extreme abilities, then. She had only heard of shapeshifters that were necromantics before - never an individual. Well, she supposed that the Emendators were more than just individuals. From what she could tell, they made Lucifer look like a child at play. From Lady Luck's age, she realized that they likely predated the Judeo-Christian deities as well. A grim thought then occurred to her. Had Lady Luck rolled her dice for each person killed as a result of her brother's actions? Maybe this limbo between life and the afterlife was just a stay of execution before something far worse - crimes that they would have to answer for. She had taken her brother in and hidden him. Was she now being held responsible for what happened at Altsoba?

It was odd - Eve's presentation of their choice calmed Andromeda. The small knot of paranoia that had began to grow suddenly stopped. This didn't seem to be a place to repent for her brother's crimes. This was just another dimension, a new plane of existence Andromeda reasoned. She let out a breath before glancing down at her hands once more. She couldn't help but still wonder what powers she had been reborn with - powers that maybe she could do some good with. Maybe even if this wasn't a place for atonement, she could learn as much as she could about the bizarre - but also fulfill some other purpose. She wasn't seeking for peace or redemption. It was more complicated than that. She had already made up her mind as to what she would decide - she'd stay. She wasn't going to throw this chance away.

She noted how the blonde boy flocked towards the ginger, along with the rather expressive man. While it would have normally bothered her and she likely would have attempted to join in, she felt more inclined to observe and try to take in as much as she could at the moment. Perhaps it was her death weighing on her, causing some symptoms of shock. But whatever the explanation was, she just didn't feel inclined to introduce herself and exchange small talk with the other Paradoxes.

December 28th, 2016 - 9:27 P.M. EST - 0 Days Since Hel Returned

Lobby - Coventry Horrors Hotel, Coventry, Massachussetts...

Folly became rather still as Seraphina mentioned sending Fairfax back to his time. Fairfax, Lilith, and Thalia were all she had left. Her large family of Circus had already dwindled and while she knew that Fairfax would return to his own time, she didn't want to see him leave. If anything, she'd want to go with him and screw the damage to the timeline that would ensue. And unknown to Folly, something similar was running through Fairfax's mind.

"After I've made sure that Amiyra is sorted," Fairfax replied with a polite nod. It wasn't a request.

"Let's go to the library then," Folly said, in accordance with Lilith's suggestion. Her eyes flickered towards Thalia, an unspoken question in them. Was her friend descending into madness?

Jessica's Apartment - Clearwater, Florida...

The phone rang a few times before the line clicked and someone answered. "Hai, this is Sayuki Chikashi's phone," a young woman answered. In the background of the call, Jessica could hear small explosions, high pitched beeps, and a narration. It wouldn't take her too long to realize that whoever answered the phone was currently playing a video game. "He's not around at the moment. I can take a message." Chikashi did mention that he had a daughter before - could this be her?

There's nothing interesting happening on angel radio at the moment either.

John F. Kennedy Memorial Airport - Ashland, Wisconsin...

The third agent nodded. Now, anyone who imagines that all government agencies get along is sorely mistaken. O.M.E.N. doesn't have many friends among the other agencies, mostly because of funding. After the events of Altsoba, O.M.E.N. was given a substantial cut of other agencies budgets, including the F.B.I. There's a lot of animosity because of that, with even some O.M.E.N. agents believing that C.I.A., S.H.I.E.LD., F.B.I. agents are all inferior and slow.

"We want the information that he neglected to file in the report," the agent explained. "All of our agents in the area are down - there's got to be more that you know than just these reports. Now, it's okay, we know that you aren't the best at filing these...But we need that information regardless."

It wasn't long before all of the agents were on the plane, the pilot had completed their checks, and the plane lifted off into the air, headed for Washington D.C.

Cedar Creek Pub - Aurora, Colorado...

"Goddess," the agent corrected. "And I didn't say which one," he replied, climbing into a sleek black car and leaving the door open for Walt. Once inside and the door was shut, the driver would begin to take them to the nearest airport. It just so happened to be the Buckley AFB Airport-BKF. They'd be able to take a private plane from there before heading onto Washington D.C.

"It's Hel, the Norse Goddess of Death," the agent finally said. "Anything you can tell me about her that I ought to know now? She's already leveled a Circus out in Massachusetts, seems to have taken down some of our finest as well."

Fergus

Location: O.M.E.N. Panic Room - O.M.E.N Headquarters - Washington D.C.
Interacting With: Bronwyn Calliban @FantasyChic

Cornish was speechless, mentally evaluating Bronwyn once more. He hadn't anticipated for her to have this much information - it was more than they knew about Hel. Their assets with experience when it came to Norse gods were being moved to D.C. currently and they hadn't reported in yet. But apparently, all they needed was this nobody to tell them everything they want to know. Cornish then extended a hand. "Rupert Cornish, MP. Welcome to Project S.P.I.T.F.I.R.E."

"That's a rubbish name," a mildly drunken sounding voice called out. Fergus emerged into the room, adjusting the buttons on his suit as he was escorted by a rather fidgety agent, Rita Evans. "Project S.P.I.T.F.I.R.E.? Really? Was project Rubbish Bin Fire already taken?" Fergus then snorted. He then waved his hand around, as if expecting someone to put a drink in it. "Or...What was it...Project Taserface? Where's the bloody raccoon when you need him, eh?"

Fergus then stopped, smirking slightly at Brownyn. He recognized a druid when he saw one. "What forest did they chase you from, lovely?"

"Consultant, she's on the task force," Cornish reminded him harshly. "She's an expert on Norse gods."

"Oh really? Which one?" Fergus asked with a raised eyebrow. "Y'know, you never should pick favorites but...Well, mine's Runa. You might know of her? The twisting words one?"

Robin Ramírez

Location: Room 307 - Hunter Hotel, Omaha, Nebraska
Interacting With: Aloise Zamora, Mariana Garcia @Nallore

"She didn't let Lucifer and Michael and the others take over the world without a fight," Aloise countered. "For the Judeo-Christian gods, it doesn't get much worse than that. You need to stop thinking about them as protectors, as saviors, as saints...They've got blood on their hands and if they were any other deity, we would have hunted them a long time ago. Just because they're part of the dominant religion doesn't mean they're good. Hell, I'm Catholic. Or at least, I used to be..."

Aloise nodded at Mariana's request to talk it over with her cousin. She didn't expect them to instantly agree to this plan. But it wasn't worth not trying - she earnestly felt that this would be a way to save not just the world, but the people who lived in it.

"1Ella tiene razón sobre las deidades, pero está equivocada sobre Hel. Nunca ha habido un dios en este mundo que no estuviera buscando el poder," Robin said carefully. "2Ella tiene un buen corazón ... Pero ella está haciendo un trato con el diablo, solo por un nombre diferente." Robin paused for a moment, knowing that her cousin was likely enticed by the idea of slamming the gates of heaven and hell. "3No me gusta esto, prima," Robin concluded.
