Killing off a player's character is an easy way to kill off an RP itself due to people thinking that they're being targeted. People will take time and effort to create their characters and naturally they want them to survive as much as possible to hopefully be the hero in the end. It's a neat idea by all means and would be great in a Hunger Games like Roleplay, but that what you as the GM would have to do is sever that connection between the Player and Character from the get go.

Thinking about it and like what was touched on above, you will probably find that a small, or very small group would work well, and maybe they have to create multiple characters. Let's say you have 5 players with 3 characters each. That's 15 possible characters to kill off. Not all have to die in the end, but the magnitude of knowing that your character may "die" is a fear that could keep the RP going for a long time.

I would also suggest playing, or watching Danganronpa (Game and Anime). It's a school where the students have to kill each other and starts off with 16 but ends with about 5 who survive. Even though 5 people survive, it has you hooked from the get go because that character you may like just may die in the next scenario.
@Leolycan when it comes to over powered characters always resort back to the video game formula. In every great video game you always start off as a weaker character (Pokemon, binding of Isaac, borderlands, dark souls, even burnout paradise) The story in some of these games may start off explaining that you were once a powerful vault hunter or a fearless warrior, but something will always happen in which you will loose your super powers and have to go back to square one, thus the journey is your chance of regaining that power and overcoming your foes.

Starting off with the power of Neo, the ability the create anything, or the ability to kill a Demi God is what your character should be striving for, but may not necessarily meet. It's like your daily life. I'm guessing you want a well paid job, a nice house, car, and a holiday. What if you were to win unlimited money and power? It would be fun to start off with but after time you will enjoy it less because you will lack that life experience of a mortgage, the idea of owning a car that breaks down, the fun of working with colleges, the enjoyment of passing a course that will advance your career.

Less is sometimes more, and creating a character that has to struggle a bit means that you can be creative with the outcomes. You can show that they are sometimes weak, but occasionally overcome problems. You can build on them knowing you have something to strive for, rather than play on God mode all the time.
I just lost a thousand words of my app to "Oh God I didn't realize my mouse pointer was on the top right".

And the "Restore tabs please oh God of the internet save my work" no longer works.

So that was an experience.

And that is why I write in notepad before posting it online. ;)

D:

Why?!?
Just be thankful that your doctor isn't Professor Lockhart. :P

But all the best and stay well. :)
We have Chocolate Kit Kats... And that's it. =_________=
@Vilageidiotx I found that when I did play the younger character I found it VERY hard since most of what I learnt back in the early years and the way I did things is completely different to kids these days. Something as simple as owning a mobile phone before 17, and a smart phone at that (The good old unbreakable Nokias).

Don't wanna sound like a geriatric but if I was to enter a Slice of Life School RP, I just don't think I could actually do it and create a comfortable character that I would enjoy.

(Sits here with a Pikachu Avatar and Danganronpa Sig)
I nabbed cheesecake flavored kit kats.
for no real reason science.

o.o

I found Wasabi and Green Tea Kit Kats over there... BUT WE NEVER FOUND CHEESECAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
