So I did sneak into your posting history and I found one started a few months ago that I believe may be the one you are talking about, so I'll give a little review of what I can read and hopefully that will help to improve.

Firstly the Interest check should be treated like a billboard. A flyer goes up saying "People wanted here!" with a rough blurb of what to expect, the direction that the roleplay will go and the basic theme. Having an interest Check with next to no details does present the possibility that you don't know what you are after and that you may be too lazy to make a full interest check. "Bumping" it all the time also has that effect and can make you sound needy and sometimes produce the opposite effect by driving people away. Afterall, you are using the IntChk to check if people are interested and have them aware of your upcoming RP.

Here's an example of a joke one I made once: Nursing Home for Supernatural Old Folk

Now as for your OOC post... I'm sorry but that is WAY TOO MUCH information. People have a short attention span and reading through all those notes with standard formatting, no imagery, no map, and 18 rules is just too much for 80% of people. I'm also looking at your character and their childhood friends and all I am seeing is a massive wall of text that is describing everything from childhood friends to detailed notes about the character's life and their party. It does leave the question of "What will you Roleplay if your entire Roleplay is summarised within 1 character sheet?". You also need to keep in mind that other players will use your character as a rough example for how they are to set up their own characters; and when Mr Johnson's character sheet is 3,080 words (18,648 characters), how much time do you expect others to invest in order to simply enter the roleplay?

To be truthful, I am not surprised that you're having difficulty as I have seen other RPs in the same fandom that have been better designed and draw people in based on that boom WOW factor.
EPPIE JONES
The Introduction
Eppie stood within the warehouse surrounded by these freshly chosen villains. She watched as the blue skinned woman known as Blueberry gave her lecture and instructed the team of their roles in the forthcoming mission. As soon as the speech concluded each member started moving towards the left or the right hand side of Blueberry, giving a little line to justify their choices. Even the girl that arrived in late stated that her reasoning for controlling the lair was for the "True Korea" as if a simple workshop could be the pinnacle piece that would advance an entire nation's control.

Eppie scoffed, turning her head away from the group before noticing that she was perhaps one of the last ones to make her choice. She had spent too much time listening to who each person was and what they desired, rather than making a choice of her own. She turned her head back to Blueberry, finally speaking out for the first time that meeting.

"Maw says that Maw cannot guarantee that he won't try and kill an ally," her voice, while sounding sweet, rattled with what sounded like multiple people speaking the same line at once, "But that's just Maw. Maw doesn't even like Eppie sometimes." She gave a subtle shrug, holding her palms up as if to say that it shouldn't really matter before continuing, "Eppie does however like you all, so Eppie says 'Hi team!'. Eppie will also refer to Eppie as Eppie while Maw is awake, otherwise Eppie will refer to Eppie as I. Maw don't like that as he views himself differently to Eppie, and not always one."

Hmmmm..., the thought chimed within Eppie's head.

"Maw was not happy bout that last part."

Eppie looked towards the team that was heading off to the Lair, moving towards them with a gentle stride. She reached the edge of the group and stood amongst the team. An Alien, a white haired girl, Miss Korea, the Robot, and the one who enquired about preparation time.

"We are not interested in money, Eppie and Maw just need a place to stay, " she spoke, placing her hand on the edge of Spyder and leaning up against the machine before gently tapping her index finger on it's metallic surface, whispering, "Maw likes you cause you're not alive."
Finishing work now so I'll be on my way home and post soon enough. :)

In Mahz's Dev Journal 11 yrs ago Forum: News
It's no doubt been discussed at length before, but I still lament the death of the News. It added a sense of community which I feel is somewhat lacking in the Guild right now.

Probably not the first one to notice, but we haven't had an RPG News post in a while, and they did show a bit of life in the forum. Without allocating a single person as such, would it be possible to have a bit of an editing committee that could put together the News for the month? Maybe each month could have a topic theme as well for discussion, or a poll for fun. Just food for thought.

Now when it comes to this...

We agree with much of that, @Darkmatter.

We suspect that many of the newer drift away due to two reasons:
1. their RPs not working out
2. some of the missing "basic" features.

Without delving into the big list of feature requests, we can think of one feature that should be simple to make:
a link from the recently online friends list on the right side to a complete list. Such can easily be a plain text window if nothing else.

...I think a sense of belonging is what people are probably after. Yes this can be achieved by friends lists, VMs and RP groups and other such additions, but what we need to aim for is achieving that desire to return to talk to your friends, not just return to catch up on an RP.
Garble Garble Garble

*Noms on forum text box*
I see a lot of times people will put down that their character is extremely smart or charismatic or something like that yet I rarely see any of this in the actual RP. So I have a question: How do you RP those traits exactly?

I'd think of how an actor portrays a character and use that as a building basis for your own.

I'll give an example of Gary Oldman with his actions in The Fifth Element and Harry Potter. In one movie he portrays a vain, power hungry individual who sees himself as an authority over others, while in the other he is a humble, affectionate person who cares deeply for his godson, telling him that Harry is not a bad person, simply someone who has had bad experiences.

The same can be applied to your own characters. Playing someone as intelligent, smart, charismatic, or charming doesn't mean that you yourself have to have those abilities, but it's your choice of words and descriptions that can help create the persona. What you are probably seeing is a lack of people expressing their characters correctly by not choosing the right words and not using the correct mannerisms (ie, using "madam" instead of "miss" in speech, or "thank you my dear" instead of "thanks bud").

Also keep note that it actually is amazing how much a character can change when you don't choose the right words and happen to not be in the correct mindset for that character. I actually have to have a physical break between my RPs because I know I can't switch that thought pattern well enough, and on one instance between friends, I had one of them tell me that I might need to correct my character because I did something that I necessarily wouldn't have done as that person. It all worked out in the end with a few minor adjustments, but it still made me aware how much words in themselves can influence a character even without speech or proper actions.
Check the npc section :D

Blueberry is a URL, not an image. ;)

Edit: actually a few of them. :P
@Verminlord Your cs image reminds me so much of SPR-TNK from Borderlands 2.

Are you Hyperion? xD
