Physical Description: The Duke is an ominous figure, besides just his impressive height. Pale skin and a deep, raspy voice that feels as if it's rarely used, build off of his dark attire. His golden eyes lurk beneath Stark black hair, seeming to look into your very soul and see your fears. Humans are generally uneasy by just his appearance, the feeling of a gazelle in a cheetah's way.
Speaking of predators, he very much looks like one beneath the cloak and old school wide brimmed hat. Lean, powerful muscles ripple beneath the skin, his nails slightly longer than normal with slight points, and his teeth seem just too white and perfect.
But those who don't feel the predator are quick to find his appearance pleasing to the eye, his voice like honey in their veins, and his eyes like heaven given form.
Personality: The Duke is a quiet one, a watcher on the sides more often than not. This extends into his direct interactions with others, as he'll often flow with whatever someone else is saying. Rarely offering information or strong opinions, the Duke is a liar at heart. You'll hear what you want to, or don't want to if he thinks he'll gain from bringing you down, depending on his mood or if he's looking to feed.
While not an emotional sort, the Duke does experience high and low emotions. They've just been muted over the centuries, twisting and turning into shades of their former selves. While his most common feelings are of boredom and annoyance, he can feel joy and excitement easily. Anger, too, can be quick to appear and leave just as fast.
All in all, however, one can most aptly describe the Duke as a forgettable experience.
The main exception being that when he wants to be, the Duke can be incredibly energetic and charismatic, sweet talking his way into secrets and confidences.
Background: The Duke lived a simple life of riches and rulers, the sole heir to a modest kingdom in 16th century Europe. He learned his duties, how to protect himself from poisons and spies, and everything deemed necessary for him to take the Throne.
Everything was life as normal. He took the Throne young, his parents dieing in a siege on the castle as rubble fell on top of them. He made treaties and wars, took a wife, and made Allies and enemies.
Nothing unique, nothing different.
Until he made the wrong enemy.
A rival kingdom with a particularly powerful, spiteful witch.
The Duke was cursed with a blessing. Changed, Enhanced, but unable to feed on anything but negativity. By the time he came to his senses the next day, his kingdom was gone. Those he hadn't killed had fled, his horrors fresh in their minds.
Centuries passed after he'd gotten his revenge on that insignificant human rival, and he traveled. He watched, intervening at first but eventually he stopped even that. He became jaded and numb to the old horrors of the mortal world, always feeding on that negativity that persisted.
Now he feels himself drawn to this mysterious little town. The negativity is palpable, and he feels a great feast is waiting.
And even though he won't admit it, even to himself, he deeply wonders what happened to that little girl.
Possessions: A simple bejeweled golden necklace, with an ancient insignia on the back. The last remaining piece from his human past.
