If that gurgling is something about to kill Alexander, I will have serious trust issues with water from now on...

Alexander Polawski

Location: Heading south towards the smoke

Alexander waited for someone to answer him with anything; a hello, Who are you?, or perhaps What the Hell?, but nothing happened. What else should he have expected really? While he was sure the walkie talkie was working, he suspected that they were either out of range or on a different frequency. There were other options, but Alexander's gut held onto those two.

"Well it was worth a shot." He told himself, pocketing the radio as he kept on walking towards the ever rising stacks of smoke. Looking up on the sky and sun, he smiled, feeling the growing heat spread across his face and outer clothing. It was indeed a welcoming change to the unloving touch of winter. The moment of enjoyment ceased to impact Alexander quickly, however, with a sound coming from Alexander's left, making him turn towards it, pistol raised and aimed at whatever it was.

It wasn't the same sound as he'd heard before, the low rumbling from far away. This sound came from a few yards away, somewhere near the long line of houses standing before him. They looked old, regardless of the lack maintenance after shit really hit the fan, but the gurgling noise was not something he had expected. What could it be? Seen as the snow was melting, perhaps it was water pipes bursting? Alexander had no idea, and without further inspection he probably wouldn't out. But did he want too?

Alexander decided that it was worth it, but also that extreme caution was needed. He hadn't seen a Walker for a while now, which only meant that the chance of him finding one was rising. Alexander holstered the pistol and instead armed himself with his trusted fire axe, before inching forward towards the noise. If it was a Walker, he hoped to outrun its frozen grasp south. If it wasn't anything, he had just spent valueable time he could have spent getting further south.
@Lady AmaltheaTo his defence, he's been told for two days straight what he should do and shouldn't do. Combined with him being easily offended, I can see why he's so hairy about it. Not that he should be, and Reynold's reaction is what I would expect personally x'D
@Lady AmaltheaI feared so...Here's to hoping my back-up is more likeable, lol
@Lady AmaltheaWell if he's going to be hated, I'm going to do my best to do it to the max ^^
Haakon J. Elvsgaard

Location:Qasr El Nil Barracks

As soon as Haakon and knelt down to see if Vera was indeed alive after her collapse, he was back on his feet and taking a fair step away from her. Of course the honourable Lord-Major wanted nobody but the most qualified in the barrack to watch over Vera. And the others? They were to stand back and simply watch as she lay there, the poor thing that she was. Do this and do that, say this but not this, don't do that or else you'll get flogged or whatever the heck that meant! Haakon was once again starting to feel his temperament rise up inside him as it was clear that he wasn't allowed to do anything.

But even for the anger bulding up inside him, some rational thoughts still came to him; Vera didn't feel unusually warm when he touched her, and she looked frankly better than when she had entered the room. So why had she fainted? The only explaination that came to Haakon - beside the obvious and unthinkable answer of her suffering from the Pharaoe's Curse - was what had befallen her and Peter Keystone. The memories from yesterday flashed before his eyes; Peter announcing his return to the public world, just before making it known his wish to marry Vera, and now this.

Haakon was starting to believe it more and more; Vera really didn't want to be with Peter.

Alexander Polawski

Slow, slow but steady. Alexander could live with that. The snow beneath his feet was starting to bother him less and less as he made his way forward, even for the many times he lost his step and fell through the snow. But for every step he made that fell through the snow, he silently encouraged himself as he made his way ever forward, if slowly; he was making progress, slow but steady progress. Alexander held a rosary between his fingers, fiddling with it as he slowly continued forward.

Though it was far from being the same scene, Alexander couldn't help but feel a certain similarity between his lone walk through the snowy landscape and the one he had found himself in many a time back during the war. Even for walking with his fellow G.I's, the same sensation of desulation and loneliness came over him; knowingly heading towards your destination on a certain mission, but instinctively looking over your shoulder every so often just to be sure you're not being watched. Every step was a step closer to a Vietnamese soldier, ready to strike where you least expected it.

While there were few Vietnamese there, the same fear applied to being ambushed by other survivors or being torn to pieces by a horde. But so far it was quiet, say for that odd rumbling earlier which Alexander couldn't identify. Could it have been an engine? A horde or just a large group of people? God's mighty hand striking down at the unbelivers? He had no idea. But he had an idea of something he wanted to try.

Alexander fumbled through his pocket for a moment, before pulling out what looked like a walkie-talkie. Turning it on, he simply looked at it for a few moments before pressing down a button and speaking quietly into it. "Good morning. Anyone hearing this? Over."

@Oak7reeThen I shall from now on refer to you as...Mr. Socks.

I'm drinking, don't judge me....

@ayzrulesYay for being excited! Who knows, Anton surely won't mind the company of such a lovely woman ;)
@Oak7reeThen we'll do our best to push forward, Sir!

@ayzrulesI'm fine with the two of them sticking together, though I think they can still be each other's +1, if you know what I mean? :p Anton culd have been sent by his superiors to gather support for the war-effort, while still being under orders to protect the 'famous' and rich heiress who could possibly give a little money to the army? ;)
@PundiiCongratulations then :)
