Alexander Polawski

Location:The Meeting

Who knew what Gramps was missing out on? The old soldier hadn't managed to push back the tears that the whole scene pushed upon him, even if it was a good distance away - and no, he has good enough sight for his age, thank you very much. He had disappeared back into the tank for a moment, choking the tear and sobbing with his hands as best as he could. Firstly he didn't want to be heard by any Walkers out there, old habit if you can call it that.

Secondly, he didn't want Them to hear him.

The voices outside brought him back to his old self though as he heard the conversation suddenly doubled up for no apparent reason. To hell with the tears, who knew if something was afoot? The moment Alexander popped up from the hatch of the tank again, he wondered if he'd lost his mind...again. It was a woman wearing a shield, shambling towards one of the strangers. And Thalia asked them to let her take care of her because she knew him?

Seriously, these days he could be as mad as Lola and not even realize it.
Haakon J. Elvsgaard

Location:Qasr El Nil Barracks

Haakon had surely forgotten how hungry he had actually been, for the sandwiches and scones did not take long to be consumed. The tea however he would take his time to enjoy while did his best to use the time he had to think; think of what to say to the honourable Lord-Major Keystone in just a few minutes time. Not that he came to any conclusions except the same Josephine had adviced in the prison; tell the truth. As far as he was concerned, they were all in the same boat now, regardless of their past mischiefs and disagreements. Especially the content of his letters. So perhaps if he put it on the table, then maybe...

Like said earlier, there wasn't much time left for him to think this through as the guard came back and escorted them to the Lord-Major. Josephine's smile didn't go unnoticed for him, and he gave her the same kind of knowing smile back. She would pull through, just like back at the prison. At least the British were gentlemen...well, most of them anyway.

He shouldn't have been surprised at the order that Josephine were to be 'chatted' with first, while himself were to wait in the lobby. Smart move on the Lord-Major's part, cross-checking their statements one at a time. If some much of Haakon's work weren't at stake, he'd praise the elder Keystone. But right now Haakon did little else but give Josephine one last look and smile, before waiting patiently where he was told to.

The Bengali geologist could do nothing but smile, once again feeling the weight of his whole life gently trickle off his chest and giving him a sense of confidence to stand up tall. It might not entirely have looked that way to the Curator, but it sure felt like it. But Mahendra didn't let the words spoken to him go unnoticed, knowing that small mistakes could grown massive like elephants later.

"I'll be more than happy to accept those terms, Mr. Kohn. I have a few belongings at my current lodging that I'd like to bring to my desk later, if that would be possible? But yes, meeting this woman of erratic behaviour sounds proper. Thank you Sir." Mahendra spared no time finally standing up from the table and following his gesture towards the door.

If she was half as a wacky character as she sounded like, Mahendra would have to pray to the Gods to help him and her journey.
@rivaanGood advice, I'll be sure to do it repeatedly just to be sure ^^

@Lady AmaltheaI am, just not that into Medieval history...*Sob* Might also have something to do that I didn't really start until a few weeks ago and I still need to write a shit-ton more.
@Lady AmaltheaWill post either tonight or tomorrow. Need to get some readin' about German merchants in Norway between 1200 and 1500 done first :/ Oh Lord, give me strength!
"She who Laughs. Now that is something worthy a nickname, but it won't be of me your laughter is caused by, She who Laughs." Julian felt himself tensing less up around the Indian, as they made their way to what Wasula had called her and her brother's 'camp'. It was something in her lighter tone and the smile she gave him that seemed to melt the winter snow around Julian's impression of the Native girl leading him out to God knew where. He'd be damned, she had a sense of humour, not something the Indians were famed for around the White Man.

Julian's boots made little impression on the dry dirt they walked across, but the heavier thuds of his heels distinquished him from the quiet grace of Wasula's light feet. So perhaps it was true, the Indians were so One-with-nature that they even left no prints? Whatever he had believed before, Wasula was giving him doubts that he could have done this without her. And thankfully she was far from a sore thing for the eye to behold, so at least the American cowboy wouldn't have to worry about that out there.

The young man gave Wasula an amused look, once again smiling at her questioning why to partake in a bet she was sure to lose. "For the fun of it? The thrill of the slighest chance to succeed? But I can't force you into it, even if the bet still stand upon until the rain starts pouring down on us." Julian continued his pace beside Wasula, raising his brows for the latter thing she said. Change his colour and expressions? Was his face that interesting to the Indian?

The alieness of the Indian never ceased to surprise Julian, who simply looked bewildered at the lone tree Wasula decided to climb up for no apparent reason. "...Ehm...What are you...?" Julian's words were cut off when Wasula gracefully climbed back down from the tree, now with what he could only assume were her sparse posessions. The wind blew her dark hair against her cheek, only making the young cowboy struggle to find the words for that small moment of him simply taking in what was actually happening; who was standing before him, and her look.

"My hut...yeah, my hut. It's this way, come on." Julian finally managed to regain what little control he actually needed to function like a normal human being, pointing away from the tree she had just climbed up and down from and somewhere just outside of town. It wasn't too far a walk, perhaps quarter of an hour. They could easily see it before they reached it. The Kirkland Ranch.

What was visible first, was the large barn dominating the ranch and serving as its middle point. Beiside it was a dozen of cattle, all fenced in with thick, wooden fences in a large square, enough for a few dozen cattle more. Between the barn and the other buildings ran a larger crowd of chickens, chased by the children of one of the farmhands for their own amusement. A few smaller houses dotted the surroundings, storage and homes of those working at the ranch.

Julian wasn't heading to any of those buildings, but the two-storied home situated facing the town. A rocking-chair rocked back and forth at the porch by an older lady, who didn't seem to be concerned about Julian's approach at first. But when she, and the other folk noticed the Indian, she slowly got up from the chair and shouted. -"Will! Come out, now!"

"Don't worry, my father won't hurt you. Just let me talk him down, okay?" Julian tried to say calmly to Wasula, though his concern wasn't that easy to hide. Especially when the older man, sporting a large moustache and a rifle exited the front door to witness Julian with the Indian. Julian's father was not amused. -"What in the name of God Almighty is She doing here, Julian Kirkland? Is she the one who stole our horses? For if she is, I swear to God that I will shoot her and her damn savage fo..."

"No father, no! She didn't take them, but she will help me find them and bring the horses back."

-"...you got to be kidding me...damnit young man"

-"William, watch your mouth!" Julian's mother wasn't fond of Indians, but she was even less eager to let her husband return to his old habit of swearing at strangers. Shooting them too for that matter.

-"Julian, are you serious about this?"

"I won't be gone for too long, only a week at most. I'm sure that they took our horses, and..."

-"And what, young man? You're going to do what your brother couldn't? This is a job for the Sheriff, not you, Julian."

"No father. The Sheriff won't fix this, he never does. Just let me get my things and I'll be back within a week at most."

-"...If you don't come back within a reasonable amount of time, I'm putting HER personally responsible, and They'll have to pay."

Julian only nodded to his father after this short and awkward exchange, the very conversation he had hoped to avoid but knew he probably couldn't escape. He walked quickly past his father, slow past his mother giving him a grieving look, before soon coming back out of the house now carrying a satchel and a rifle across his shoulder. His mother gave him a brief hug and kissed him on his cheek, while his father only sighed angrily at his only remaining son who was repeating his brother's mistake. But he couldn't stop him. It ran in the Kirkland blood.

"I'm ready, let's go." Julian's words were flat and direct, clearly lacking the surprised tone or positive bantering earlier displayed as he now simply gave Wasula a quick look and walking off. Yes, they were walking for now, seen as their horses too had been stolen. That was why the fenced area was so empty.
@ZarkunOkay dokay, I'll have a post up tonight.
@LovelyAnastasiaI'll have a post up either tonight or tomorrow, it's been a hectic weekend and little time to post the good reply that you very much deserve! I'm really starting to like Wazula, she's got quite the tounge.

Alexander Polawski

Location:The Meeting

Alexander wanted to take back everything he had said against himself, figuratively punching himself for making himself look like an ass-hat. Whatever he had said to make Thalia dislike him the way she did, couldn't possibly stand a chance against what the looney of a Kiwi was doing right then, stuck between a rock and a hard place. While the other strangers might not have seen the old soldier or what he was doing, he gave himself a good ol' facepalm. First she decided to join the fray by walking towards them, then she called them 'spotted dicks' and said she had to get her nails done, before promptly swearing at them. Okay the last one was uncalled for, she was a Kiwi after all, but the rest? How in the world had she not gotten herself killed yet?

The scene involving Thalia and the black guy however, now that was something different. Very, very different. Alexander couldn't see her face, but it wasn't hard to understand that this wasn't easy for her to do. And yet she did it. "God damn, that girl's something." he whispered to himself, seen as Thalia and the Kiwi loony had gone off without him. He wasn't going anyway. The tank was the best cover right now, not that it stopped him from leaning more and more out of the hatch to hear what was being said. And it was painful to listen to. Alexander struggled to keep back a few tears from running down his cheek. He had never met these people before, but it sounded all too the same as what he had experienced himself. Loved ones dying because of mistakens being made. Loved ones being put down by those who loved them. Put down by himself. It was good that he was still at the tank, because he didn't want to see him that way.

Cry.
Haakon J. Elvsgaard

Location:Qasr El Nil Barracks

Haakon turned in a sharp fashion towards the door. For the briefest of moment he wondered who in the world it could be, seen as they had just arrived at the base. But of course it was a guard, though again this time a much welcomed sight indeed. "Come in!" Haakon said loudly, watching the guard enter and then leave him with a tray of tea and various food items. Very British, even the message left for him.

30 minutes for him to make his tea, eat whatever of the two foods he wanted and get ready before meeting with the Lord-Major. It was more enough time for him to peacefully eat and drink, but still didn't feel long enough for him to gather his thoughts about the coming conversation. He hadn't forgotten the scolding he'd recieved the day before from both the Keystones and the soldier ransacking his personal belongings. If they found anything they'd see as classified information, and they surely would mean that themselves, Haakon presumed he wasn't going to have a nice chit-chat with the bubbly British Lord-Major.

Mahendra Huq Zalil

Location:The Egyptian Museum

Circumstances? Mahendra could already imagine what that meant, but it was far from what he had expected. Far from being about him, his background and race, it was their situation that Mr. Kohn partly warned Mahendra of; a woman. Mahendra sat quietly, an inquizetive look on his face as he listened intently to what Mr. Kohn told him about the woman, related to the main financier behind the Dig of the Century, her clumsines and temper. In the end Mahendra smiled at Mr. Kohn, his moustache too forming after his smile and copied in his voice.

"If those are the circumstances that must surround my possible employment, I think I am ready to handle it to the best of my abilities. I might already have been given a good sign from above today, so consider my answer an 'Yes'."
