Make it clear that you don't need him to be reading Dante tomorrow. Also suggest it would be fun if you had a private language that you could use to mock English speakers in secret.

Early 30's. I know just enough about everything to be dangerous.

I would mark off 'mocking social programs' but I've already completely filled Andre's card.
@The Harbinger of Ferocity I assumed you didn't because that would fit my mental picture of you but I don't think I had read it explicitly before. Its possible you said so at some point where I tuned out due to disinterest or disgust.
@Andreyich, the official term is "speciesist". You best check your labeling privileges lest we rile the locals, heaven knows we cannot survive their victimhood screeching just as we couldn't a banshee's.

Mocking the idea of privilege. How have I got this many but haven't got a bingo yet?!
There is a conference room, Ellie's office and then a large space which is partitioned off into individual offices like an old school police station.
Camilla screamed and scrambled back, scraping her back on the few supplies they had managed to fish from the water. The sharks great maw snapped shut as they beasts tried to reach the cast away with desperate mindless hunger. Ivan roared something between a scream of frustration and a battlecry and, to Camilla's amazement swung a heavy peice of timber in a blinding arc that ended in the head of one of the sharks as it lunged forward. There was a titanic crack of rending timber and popping cartilage and the beast flopped spasticaly back into the water.

"That, Little Dove, is how you go fishing," he rumbled, seemingly in a better mood than he had been in days. Camilla wondered if it was simply the fact that he had an enemy he could see and strike, rather than invisible but implacable foes of hunger, thirst and exposure.

"Alright," Camilla said from her parched throat, "but you are filleting this one."

Camilla dozed as she hung in the lookout post. The sun beat down and she could feel her skin burning despite the makeshift shade. At times she dreamed, snatches of Tilea, of the Skaven in the mountains and of other places which she had never been in the waking world. A cawing sound recalled her to wakefulness and she snapped alert, her skin prickling. Gazing around the calm sea she saw little to comfort her until her eyes fell on a dark smudge on the eastern horizon. Black specs, perhaps distant birds could just be made out, circling.

"Cydric!" She yelled down excited, "Cyrdic there is land!" She pointed out in the direction of the distantly visible green.

Any crackdown?

What guidelines would you suggest -- or are there truly none -- to a police force in the aftermath of a major disaster, in order to enforce the law?

I don't have any problem with the police enforcing the law providing it is done in as fair, safe and unbiased a method as possible. I'm merely stating that I can certainly understand why people are concerned about the actions of a police force that has had plenty of recent publicity for racist behavior.
Sayeeda rushed through the foliage, hoping against hope that none of it was actively poisonous. She took them on twists and turns around outcrops and gullies, but the integral compass in the helmet allowed her to keep a more or less easterly bearing while putting as much cover between her and an Terrans. It wasn't so much their weapons that she was worried about, although those certainly were a danger, it was the sophisticated optics their strike team would have. It would be the work of moment for them to realize that the rebels were dead and their intended target, Drake she assumed, was gone. If they weren't far enough away by that point they would be able to use infrared to track the trio through the forest far faster than they would be able to flee.

Fortunately, whether by luck, good judgement, or the simple mass of thermal signatures in a tropical rain forest the sounds of pursuit fell away quickly. Sayeeda kept them running for another ten minutes, at the end of which Drake was wheezing like he was going to die at any moment. Reluctantly she allowed them to halt by a small pond, clicking her own visor into thermal and scanning behind them before allowing herself to relax. Adrenaline still burned hot in her body from the earlier firefight and the pursuit.

"You are even dimmer than you seem if you think the Terrans don't know what Hatcher had for breakfast," she sneered. Sayeeda herself had only a vague knowledge of Intelligence work, she had done a semester at the academy and gotten a certain amount of insight on the job, but she didn't doubt the Signals Sections on the destroyers could crack any encryption on this dirt ball like an egg.

"Also you owe us a new land drifter," she added as an afterthought, doubtless the Terrans had overflown it on the way in and would waste little time in securing both vehicles. For a moment she just leaned back against a tree and let her racing heart steady.

"Alright, spill, whats so great about this research that it has everyone all hot and bothered?"

@POOHEAD189
The New York Times is Fake News, it is known.

To clarify, I do think that the police have a problem with racism and I would be concerned that in any crackdown they would be unfairly targeting people of color.

It is possible of course that they might conduct an operation that was above reproach and that no unarmed black people would be murdered. It does happen.
@POOHEAD189 Racists be racist. It is important we recognize that even though it alienates racists ;)
