I never notice someone's post count until I see (ignore post count) and then I totally look at it, out of habit and curiosity.

  • Weaponry of all kinds
  • Anime (mostly action/shonen. DBZ & YYH being my favorites)

Roleplay F.A.Q.

  • Fantasy, Sci Fi, and Historical are my genres. Fantasy being my favorite and Sci Fi/Historical being close seconds.
  • Advanced / Nation / 1x1 / Casual (only in certain circumstances)
  • I generally write at the 'Advanced Level' meaning 4+ Paragraphs with good grammar.
  • I am usually busy with many projects and RPs, but if you wish to do a 1x1 with me, you'll need to present your case. Those I already do it with have my trust as a Roleplayer.
  • I love many, many fictional universes so me trying to list them all is an effort in futility!

@Fyre Welcome to the Guild! With spunk like yours I'm sure you'll fit right in :)
Incidentally, it is forgotten realms, so if you know anything about sword coast or whatnot that might be helpful. When I return home this Sunday I'll prolly do a brief intro blurb about major events happening in recent history to potentially help with making up a backstory, as well as posting a general area map.

Watching this with interest.
The melee was fierce that day. Steel gleamed and dust billowed. Even the guards were impressed at the skillful brutality that was displayed among the field, at least with a few of the more notable last standers. But even the men who were defeated earlier had fought tooth and nail for their winning until they were injured enough to call out, or were thrown out by their opponent.

Rannon did not have the same eyes he did when Feri first met him, with no true feeling or thought except that of survival. However she could still see that his simmering expression and iron gaze betrayed his determined and dark thoughts as he moved on instinct, sometimes giving off a roar of exertion or a crisp, feral shout as he struck. Rannon's mindset, military training, and large size gave him an edge against most of his opponents, flinging a few of them out personally with his great strength. A few times, as there were many men, it would have seemed to Feri like he was to be back stabbed. Indeed he received a few knocks, but he knocked right back and then some!

It was when there were only two left in the tournament that a hush fell on the normally boisterous crowd. It was just as Rannon was throwing out the last opponent whom he had grappled into submission, that he realized there was just him and one other. The last man was an older Knight, with a gloriously curled mustache who still held himself well in his now-scuffed armor, a long handled warhammer in his guantleted hands. His hair was streaked with grey, and he had a gleam in his eyes. Feri would remember that he tossed out many other combatants with an experience that even surpassed Rannon's earlier fights.

"My, you're a young one. Seems age is catching up to me," The knight chuckled.

With a slow advance, measuring one another's stances, they met at the center in a clash of steel. The two traded blows for a what seemed like an hour, though honestly it was merely a few moments. The exchange was a ruse by the older knight however, for he thrust his warhammer forward and yanked it back, hooking Rannon's left leg in the hammer and sending Rannon to the ground. The younger Fereldan had to roll near instantly to dodge the next hammer blow, rising up and blocking the hammer with his heavy sword, only to receive a strong punch to his face. The guantlet nearly knocked Rannon out, and blood was spat on the dirt. But there was an instinct that overrode his senses, and the older Knight was now near the edge of the ring. Rannon surged forward, grappling the man and struggling for many moments before he finally managed to hook his leg around his opponents to get him off balance, and he shoved the knight out of the melee ring, effectively making him the winner.

It was a victory more from luck than skill, based on the terrain. But it counted.

Rannon then fell to his knees, holding his head. His shoulder and skull ached terribly, as did his leg and lower back. He felt the wet heat of blood around his body, but he was victorious, and moments later he stood to his full height. He was stoic as the crowd suddenly erupted in cheers.

Neil was just done marking the best places to use as the station for the cable hooks, placing sensors down in front of a large rock jutting out of the forest floor, so long and jagged that Neil had a sneaking suspicion it was a small asteroid that had landed here many years ago. The other was one of the thicker trees of the forest that was relatively close to the shore. He'd made sure not to drink too much the night before, and he was glad for the moderation today. The lack of a true hangover was something he made himself appreciate.

"Targets down, Captain" He said into his comm. Yet again, the day was sunny and hot, with only the barest whisper of a cloud above him, giving a small penumbra upon the brush. Briefly he wondered if there were any real clouds on the planet, but he was certain there had to be. It wouldn't rain otherwise, after all. As Neil lost himself in thought, popping a squat on a smaller, fallen log as he awaited Junebug to reply to him, he stretched.

"Shit its the motion detector in the jeep, we are about to have company."

Neil had been through so much shit recently, he was almost inure before his self preservation suddenly screamed into his head and he halted mid-stretch, blinking and spinning about to gaze into the forest. "What? Where?"

"Right in front of you, idiot." She said, her voice scathing with urgency. "Two hundred meters."

Neil spun again, knowing he couldn't get back to the ship in time without swimming and opening the hatch of the Highlander, and by then he could be gunned down by anyone with a rifle. "Guess I need to improvise," he breathed, his wandering eye catching the log he had sat on, before looking at the tree its butt connected to. With a sudden monkey-like grace, he ran across the small log and kicked off, grabbing a hold of the lowest branch of the nearby tree and using that to climb into the canopy.

He didn't even have his firearm with him this time, which he cursed himself for. As he climed, he realized reminded him a lot of his first mission with Junebug, only this time she was in the ship instead of a tent murdering someone, and this time she might need to save his skin...

It was only a minute before the targets emerged from the forest, so quiet Neil nearly yelped when he saw them. They were humans, as near as he could tell. But they wore little clothing, their bodies covered in barbaric warpaint. Clubs made of obsidian and spears tipped with rock were held in their hands, and a few rode odd, lithe beasts that ran on two legs. Mammals with the body shape of large, flightless hunting birds. He saw many of them holding blow darts.

Neil whispered into his comm. "So what's the plan?"

You're assuming the living space is itty bitty. Also, you're ignoring the whole "self defense" aspect. If the living space is sizable, and it's capable of defending its inhabitants, why is a government necessary?

The itty bitty was to this self sustaining contraption that vomits food and water in this hypothetical. Self defense? People have that now and it doesn't stop too much. Unless you want to go into the gun debate again.

Look, from all I have read about history or philosophy, human beings need a leading body. Not just to give them the food or water they need, but to help maintain order. Wars over resources are not the only wars. Wars over land are not the only wars. Riots aren't just about food, water, or land. Yes those are huge components and if we had unlimited of all of them a lot of conflict would stop, but not all conflict. That's just unrealistic, from everything I have read or seen.
@POOHEAD189 Nah, I don't see why leadership is necessary. If people can sustain and defend themselves, why do they need leaders?

You're arguing against the human condition, my friend. Let's say we have as much resources as we could ever want right in a small itty bitty living space box. There is still the desire for other things. Land (or Sea, I suppose), and emotional/physical desires. What is to stop floating house A from boarding with fire and steel floating house B to take their beautiful daughter by force, in order to then give her to floating house C for favors in the upcoming transatlantic conflict!?

...I think I just made a premise.
@POOHEAD189 No no, that's not self sufficiency, because your living space isn't capable of manufacturing all of the replacements to its own components, is it?

Even if it did, I'd still be living in a society that is in need of some sort of leadership or governing body. Going into the sea changes none of that.
