as a patreon reward I will read your least favorite person's handmade custom tabletop RPG homebrew and ask them why they didn't just run it in 5e instead

I started RP before double digit age but you couldn't have gotten an admission I was under 18 under threat of death. Kids just casually admiting it online now is wild.
Probably getting ahead of myself, but anyone wanna share gym puzzle ideas? I'm thinking Zeke's might involve like... Climbing the same stairs/incline over and over again. A bunch of trap doors or conveyor belts keep sending them back to the beginning.
Maybe there's like a series of two doors to choose between. The wrong choice sends them back to the beginning. There's no actual puzzle to it. It's just rigged so the last combination they try is the right one. Maybe he teases the challenger over the PA with every restart.
You know, something to test perseverance.
Fiona's Gym would basically be a hybrid of a warp pad/conveyor belt/ice path puzzle. Multiple separated platforms hanging in midair, and the only way to reach them is riding a Gym Corviknight that will only ever go back and forth on the same path. Fiona designed an intentionally difficult maze just so she'd have less challengers to go through. The layout changes every year because some smartass keeps posting the solution on the internet every challenge season.
Bulwark Boneplate Rare Armor +100 HP Reduce physical damage taken by 20. Recover 2 SP for every hit taken.
Shamanic Beads Common Accessory +20 MP
Raider’s Wargtag Common Accessory +4 DEX, +4 LCK
Thunderstruck Amulet Uncommon Accessory +20 HP, +5 END, +3 LUC Reduce lightning damage taken by 20.
HP potions: 1 uncommon, 2 common
Alright, this was starting to get slightly ridiculous. At the rate they were pouring damage into this monster, it should've been dead by now. That, and the amount of damage Lugh was taking was starting to pile up far too much. Screw it, then. No more half measures. Hopefully, this was on the upper end of what Thunderstruck Grove had to offer, because they were utterly boned if this was average for the zone.
Amulak manuevered himself to have a clear shot of the crack he and Lugh had made in the centipede's armor, already starting to cast. A fully-juiced, Mana Controlled Spell Spear came surging through the air, aiming to pierce straight into the hole in the centipede monster's side.
"You doing very good, Lugh! Just keep getting shit kicked in while we finish monster off!"
To be honest, considering we're pretty much ignoring the events of the game here, the Gym Challenge could be changed so that there is no set order. Plus I think it'd work better that way.
”You're here for a battle, aye? Fine, fine. Then let’s see if you can keep up with me in the open sky!”
NAME: Fiona MacConnell
AGE: 25
GENDER: Female
BIRTHPLACE: Freezington
GYM TYPE: Flying
APPEARANCE: Stands at about 5’8”. Skin is fair, long blonde hair, has a lithe build. Somewhat toned, moderate bust.
Typically wears casual clothing such as plain T-shirts and jeans, but makes the token effort of putting on a fashionable jacket. Always seen with a pair of flying goggles around her head, for use in the skies.
When the occasion calls for it, has a full Sky Trainer glider suit for both Sky Battles and official appearances as a Gym Leader.
Speaks with a Scottish Crown Tundra accent.
PERSONALITY: A free spirit by all accounts, Fiona prefers not to be burdened by much outside of her Pokemon and her Gym. She’s relaxed and lackadaisical, unconcerned with what others think so long as she’s satisfied with her own performance. She’s a wanderer at heart, spending much of her time outside of League-mandated Gym battles soaring the skies of Galar atop one of her many Flying Pokemon.
Despite her carefree nature, or, as some would believe, because of it, Fiona is a hard book to read. It’s difficult to accurately get a handle on what she wants or is thinking, and she tends to just go with the flow much of the time.
Of course, that isn’t to say there isn’t a brain underneath all the laziness and aimless wandering. She’s a quick wit when she’s forced to be, and aims for efficiency in what she does, so as to better get things over with and go back to a state of relaxation.
BIOGRAPHY: While born in the icy southern town of Freezington, Fiona only spent a portion of her early years there. By the age of nine, she moved with her family to Kalos for a number of years on account of her parents’ work. It was in Kalos that Fiona saw her first Sky Battle, inspiring a love of Flying Pokemon and the open sky itself that she carries to this day.
During her stay in Kalos, Fiona became a certified Sky Trainer by her teenage years along with her regular schooling before her family returned to Galar. Upon finishing high school, Fiona immediately set out on that year’s Gym Challenge, wanting to explore the homeland she’d spent most of her teenage years out of. She won her eight badges handily enough, but was knocked out in the semi-finals of the Champion’s Cup.
Losing didn’t particularly bother Fiona. Hell, she’d gotten further than she’d expected herself. And being Champion was a burden she wouldn’t have really wanted anyway. Interviews, public appearances, actual duties? No thanks. So with a smile and a shrug, Fiona decided to continue her journey, spending the next few years traveling from region to region, honing her skills and learning about different varieties of Flying Pokemon while exploring all she wanted to.
It was on a break from her journey back home in Galar that Fiona was approached to become a Gym Leader by one of the current Leaders looking to retire. While initially resistant to the idea of being tied down in one place, she was eventually convinced by the prospect of advancing the prestige of Flying Pokemon in Galar, as well as possibly bringing her favored hobby, Sky Battles, to the region. So with yet another shrug, Fiona stepped into the next chapter of her life.
TEAM:
Raptor: (Gigantamax) Corviknight - Fiona's starter and her oldest companion. Stoic and resolute, she watches over the rest of the flock and can be counted on to mediate disputes among the crew. The strongest Pokemon on the team by official League metrics, thanks to her Gigantamax form. Lightning: Noivern - Wild, hyperactive, and mischievous. He has a need for speed and loves to show said speed off, always eager for a battle or a race. Flanker: Gliscor - Relaxed and cheerful. The one closest to her own trainer's temperament on the team. Berkut: Talonflame - Egotistical. Preens a lot. Has a tendency to show off during battle and be the most visually spectacular among Fiona's team. Hornet: Yanmega - The quiet one. Doesn't interact much with the rest of the crew, but mostly out of nervousness due to being Fiona's newest addition, and due to the Bug type's inherent weakness to the Flying type. Felon: (Mega) Salamence - The true ace of Fiona's squad. Arrogant and bloodthirsty, but still loyal to Fiona and his fellow Pokemon on the team. Unfortunately, never gets the chance to show off his real strength in Galar League battles due to a ban on Mega Evolution and the League's preference for Dynamaxing.
(Gigantamax) Corviknight: Typically one of the Gym Corviknights that Fiona is training on behalf of the Flying Taxi service. Raptor very rarely gets brought out during a Gym Challenge, and only if the challenger is already blatantly overqualified for the level they're supposed to be at. Staraptor Hawlucha Xatu Aerodactyl (Excluded at 6 badges)
(Gigantamax) Butterfree Skarmory Mantine Archeops (Excluded at 3 badges)
Corvisquire Wingull Doduo (excluded at 0 badges)
RELATIONSHIPS: Makes her best effort to be friendly and approachable to her colleagues and have cordial relationships with them. Her carefree nature and lack of actual interest in the Champion title might rub some the wrong way, though, giving off the impression that she doesn’t care about her job.
Midday came, and Hex Jr. found himself standing outside the legendary Scorch's Guild Headquarters. Finally, a way back into the game. No more of this "it's too dangerous to venture outside Cloudgate" pussyfooting that the city officials had been spouting. Explorers, doing the thing they should've done from the start: investigating what was going on outside the city. Only took Scorch a few years to grow a pair and start recruiting, huh?
The Litten sauntered into the Guild, making sure his mask was on right as he looked around. Seemed like a more or less standard setup. Scorch at least knew how to run a proper Explorer's Guild. He'd never met the old veteran in person, but hopefully he wouldn't start babbling on about his father. The last thing he wanted right now was to be reminded just how large the shadow he stood in was.
A good few other Pokemon had beaten him to be the first one there, but that was fine. Just as long as he wasn't the last one. The sweet smell of baked goods hit Hex Jr.'s nostrils, and he moseyed on over to the Buneary holding the basket.
"Don't mind if I do." He grinned slightly, taking a chunk of banana bread and starting to horf it down. "Mnf. Mnf. This's good!" Hex Jr. told the Buneary, nodding. "Where'd you pick these up?"
