Anyways, no particular issues with it. Did Valeriya create power armor herself, or is she just improving upon existing designs within the military? Also, how long has she been in the outside world, as opposed to being stuck in clandestine spy schools learning shit and eating shit?

I'd imagine there were no public power armor projects in Russia beforehand, so the designs are original. But they're based on existing equipment visually if that makes sense.

And I'd actually say that spy school involved a lot of living in the outside world, since they're working from scratch here and they needed to make sure the students know how to actually blend in among the populace.

Background:

By all rights, Valeriya had little place in her current position compared to all the noble lineages and respected bloodlines she was surrounded by. She was born a girl of low birth in a newly-established industrial town in Siberia, and only the hand of fate delivered her into the clutches of one of Imperial Russia's least-known agencies: the Imperial Ministry of Intelligence.

An accident in the factory Valeriya's parents toiled in rendered the girl an orphan when she was barely three years old. Not two weeks later, erstwhile """relatives""" from out of town sauntered into the local orphanage and pulled her out, taking the young girl all the way to Moscow. In truth, these were agents of the Ministry pulling in more fresh blood to be raised in the Tsar's service. Valeriya became among the first batch of imperial agents to be raised from a young age to be spies and Polymaths abroad, as the Futile War had shown that Polymaths were ever more essential towards even intelligence work, and that it was best to reel them in young before such trifles as familial loyalty or ingrained learning created unwanted traits in potential agents.

Thus, she spent her youth being taught the arts of Formula and fieldcraft. What none expected, however, was that this girl from the ass-end of Siberia turned out to have, at the very least, a true knack at being a Polymath. By the time she was a teenager, Valeriya was at the top of her class among the Ministry's youth, and so she was to be given the crucial assignment to be inserted into Bermuda. A cover was established for her background, and her genuine achievements granted her recognition enough to legitimately qualify for entrance to the Academic Island. For Tsar and country. God save the Tsar.

Field of study:

Among Technologists, Electroartifice refers to the use of Formulization to craft works powered by and utilizing electricity. In Valeriya's case, she specializes in personal tools of war: arms and armor alike. Her education in history impressed a single theory on her that became applied to her Formula: the tactics of old had been on to something. The problem lay in the tools. In order to match the Egoists of the Orient, the equipment used by the Occident had to be on par.

Valeriya's Electroartifice revolves around two primary projects: powered armor to match an Egoist's speed and strength, and a weapon to surpass their durability. Some would say that this was too much of a division of resources in otherwise separate fields. Valeriya would respond by saying that one wasn't complete without the other. And so were revealed her two works: electromagnetic railgun firearms to harm Egoists where mundane equipment couldn't, and armor using electrically-powered servos to increase the wearer's agility and might.

Of course, Valeriya doesn't promote her achievements in public as being anti-Egoist technology. Rather, she claims to simply wish to usher in the next generation of weapons and armor, regardless of target.

Personality:
Focused and determined, Mason has a driven personality and seeks to perform the best he can in any role he has to perform. He demands excellence from himself and is constantly seeking to improve. Despite this, however, the man is still enough of a team player to lessen his demands on his teammates, so long as he knows what to expect from them. A two-bit gangbanger picked up off the streets will have less expectations from Mason than a fellow ex-military soldier.

For him, heisting is about the chance to continue using the skillset he was trained for. While the monetary perks are nice, they're little more than a side benefit to Mason. What really matters is the challenge and the satisfaction from successfully executing a well-thought out plan.

Bio:
Once upon a time, there was a young lad growing up in a shithole town in the middle of nowhere of the Australian countryside. His family was poor, the town was dying, and he wanted out. The thing was, he wasn't exactly academically gifted enough for a decent college, and he knew it. No education, no prospects, no future. So a young Mason McKenzie took the only possible lifeline he saw and enlisted in the military the moment he graduated high school.

In the Australian Army, Mason found that the physical work soldiering entailed fit him more than anything he'd ever done before. Sports weren't enough of a thrill and didn't pose enough of a real risk in comparison, to say nothing of book learning. So he put his all into becoming a better soldier. Hell, he'd gone further than he'd ever thought, and applied for selection for the Special Air Service Regiment. Selection was undoubtedly the most grueling experience of his life up to that point, but Mason did manage to scrape through it, ending up an elite special forces operator.

The next few years were spent conducting operationss in warzones across the globe, as well as a number of hushed-up urban counter-terrorist missions domestically as well. However, Mason's career was cut short when a string of war crimes scandals rocked the regiment, ending with his entire squadron being disbanded even without most of the unit having taken part in the charges. Frustrated, bitter, and unwilling to return to the regular ranks, Mason left the military in protest.

He was back to square one. Now that Mason had served in the military for a decade, civilian life just felt boring in comparison. That, and he still didn't have many job prospects anyways. So he went back to what he knew. Mason had been on the verge of accepting a contract with a private military company when he'd recieved another, more lucrative offer instead. One of the other guys from his old unit had somehow gotten himself involved with a heist scheme, and the team needed more people. The target was an armored car carrying bank cash, and the job went off without a hitch. Still, the gang knew they couldn't stay in the country for long. So they moved operations to Europe.

Over the next half decade, Mason found himself in his element as he put his skills to use again, planning and conducting armed heists against a variety of targets. Still, he found himself frustrated with the quality of career criminal he was working with. Outside of his partner that had gotten him into the group in the first place, most of the others weren't up to Mason's standard, and it showed as the gang slowly started to dwindle, whether through being caught by law enforcement or getting wasted in shootouts with either cops or other criminals. And then his old friend got himself pinched. That was the last straw. The gang wasn't sustainable anymore, and Mason got the hell out of dodge. With Europe too risky to settle down in, and unwilling to return to Australia, Mason fled to America and settled down as best he could, buying land out in the boonies from a seller entirely willing to take cash.

And for the last year, Mason found himself bored out of his mind. Sure, buying and maintaining a veritable armory of assault weapons was satisfying enough, but he still found himself restless from lack of action. Still, he was in a foreign country yet again with no in to the regional crime network, which meant he had no way to launder any of his money or find a new crew. That was, until someone found him...

Skillset:
-Special Forces: A veteran operator with experience in all sorts of operations and areas of combat. Practically at home in a gunfight, and has the skills to match his experience.
-Physical Conditioning: In very good shape, and obsessively keeps himself in shape.
-Heist Experience: Is familiar enough with most sorts of heist work and security setups at this point to be able to contribute towards both the planning and execution of heists.
-CQC Specialist: At his best in close quarters, whether it be with firearms, melee weapons, or unarmed combat. Is an excellent choice for point man.
-Fieldcraft: Excellent stealth skills in both urban and natural terrain environments, honed from years of training and experience.

For a moment, Jin-Sun considered the merits of showing up to DIHOW in disguise. And then immediately shelved that idea, given how none of the rest of them were incognito. It wasn't worth burning a potential future identity to hide behind just for a few minutes of peace and quiet. Not that it'd work either, considering people would wonder who the literal who hanging out with the remainder of the Five was.

That didn't mean he didn't arrive stealthily, though. He went through most of the commute under a hologram disguise before stepping into a public restroom inside the tower as he neared the house of waffles. The stall door locked behind him, and he disengaged the Illusion Drive and activated his cloak instead, making the rest of the walk completely invisible.

He only bothered to uncloak when he found the table the others were at, sliding into the first available seat before disengaging his stealth.

"Yo. Thanks for saving me a spot." He gave a jaunty wave, pulling his phone out to pass the time, though not without glancing incredulously out the window at the sign of Kyouko modeling. Seriously, what the hell was she wearing? Was that what high schoolers were into these days? Christ...

When the waitress came, Jin-Sun spoke up right after Tian-Gui, already having decided on his order.

"Yeah, lemme get uhhh...an orange juice and the chicken and waffles, with the chicken in the extra spicy buffalo sauce, please. Oh, and another PGR skin code too, if you've got any left." He side-eyed Tian-Gui once his order was done.

"You never mentioned you played too. Figured you for Jogomon Go exclusively. How's your pull luck with that last banner?"
