Actually, after rereading some more of the lore and Ravness's bio, I also want to ask if there are spirits that aren't really related to the dark or the light in this? Like neutral nature spirits and stuff? Because what I'm thinking of for my magic is that when he sings or makes music, he's actually singing to the spirits, and then they go on to alter the world based on his songs. There's also a series of 'black songs', which at first were simply going to bypass the spirits and affect the world straight up, but now I'm thinking it calls directly on the Dark. Either way, these ones can basically lead to possession/death.

Also, now I'm thinking the kingdom he was prince of was being manipulated by the lich Ravness was fighting, so my character was kind of like its not-actually-evil-but-seemed-evil second in command, fighting because he was convinced Igros would destroy his kingdom if he didn't stop her.

Ok, so two questions before I start writing the character sheet. First off, would I be able to make music all one skill, or would I have to make separate skills for singing and percussion and all that?
And second, have you decided if it's ok for me to have my character live in the same time as, and possibly even be killed by Ravness?

WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER'S NAME? WHAT DO THEY PREFER TO BE CALLED?
Jeremy Lindall. Call him Jeremy, and goddamnit, you’d better not call him Jerry. It sounds stupid!

HOW ARE THEY BEST RECOGNIZED IN A CROWD?
Tired, bored eyes, kind of like a dead fish. Other than that, he looks pretty much average in every way. Somehow, despite his hair being kind of short, it still looks almost unmanageably messy.

WHAT IS A STRANGER'S FIRST IMPRESSION UPON MEETING THEM? HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER SEE THEMSELVES?
Well, it probably wouldn’t be great… He’d seem pretty lazy, bored, and almost kind of standoffish. He also tends to see himself in a pretty negative light, and kind of useless. A pretty good fisherman and cook though, so you know, there are some merits to his continued existence…

WHERE DID THEY GROW UP? WHERE DO THEY FEEL AT HOME?
Jeremy’s a Duskwick native, born and raised. He mostly enjoys spending time by the lake, where things seem… well, peaceful.
Or at least they used to.

WHO ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN THEIR LIVES?
His two best friends, Adrian Clark and Hannah Washburne, as well as his older sister and legal guardian, Eleanor Lindall. Without them, he wouldn’t be the wonderful, charming person he is today! Yeah yeah, hilarious, I know. Still, there's no way he'll actually tell them how much he cares about them.

WHAT IS THEIR PROFESSION, SKILL OR LIFESTYLE? WHAT DO THEY THINK THEIR STRENGTHS ARE? WHAT ARE THEIR ACTUAL STRENGTHS?
He’s very new to it, but he’s currently working as a chef in one of the local restaurants. As for strengths, well, apart from the cooking and fishing things, he really couldn’t give you an answer. Maybe his hilarious, ever present snark? His actual strengths though… There are a couple of those worth mentioning. For one, he’s far better at improvising than he cares to admit, even to himself! Along with that, despite his tendency to deny it, he can find himself getting pretty fired up once he actually finds something he cares about, and it gets difficult to stifle his determination once it gets to that point. Finally, thanks to his sister’s insistence on learning, he’s fairly good with a gun, as well as martial arts. Usually, he’d probably have seen it as a waste of time, but Ellie decided that, if all the crazies would have access to firearms, he should at least learn how to defend himself as well. Actually, the martial arts kind of was his idea. He… He watches a lot of anime…
And before anyone brings it up, yes, he knows his strengths, weaknesses and overall general personality seem like the perfect, toxic cocktail that usually ends up making a school shooter, but no. He's not. And he's tired of old classmates making the damn joke!

WHAT ARE THEIR FEARS, FLAWS AND SECRETS?
What, apart from the general fear of death? Well, he’s terrified of heavy mist, after getting lost in a large, empty field during a day that was full of it. The fact that he’d just watched the movie ‘The Mist’ right before didn’t help much. Also ghosts. Just… Fucking ghosts. For flaws, he really is pretty lazy most of the time, and it's rare for him to actually get interested in a lot of things. For him to put in the effort to even pretend to be interested is pretty rare. There's also the fact that, while it doesn't come up too often, Jeremy has absolutely no artistic talent. This is odd, considering he draws a lot. In fact, it's also probably the only way his nature as an optimist comes out, and he rarely writes anything by hand without a few badly drawn little doodles did their way onto the paper, to the endless amusement of anyone he leaves a note to. He only really has one secret, and that's… well… He's actually so grateful to his friends and sister, to the point that he can't even say it because after this long it would be too embarrassing. Also that he's actually an optimist, even if he never acts like it. And the ghosts thing, but that's not quite as much of a secret considering most people know about it already.

WHAT DO THEY WANT MOST? WHAT DO THEY ACTUALLY NEED?
I don't know, how about some goddamn peace and quiet!
But nah, in all seriousness, he really wants to find out what happened to Adrian, because OOPS OH NO SPOILERS he totally disappeared. Funny enough, thats actually also what he really needs, so hey, at least his priorities line up properly!

IF YOUR CHARACTER COULD HAVE ANY SUPERNATURAL ABILITY, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Wow, kinda putting him on the spot, aren't you? Maybe… Summoning. Yeah, probably that. Summoning familiars, weapons, stuff that he uses in everyday life, whatever he needs so he doesn't have to get up all the time. Or portals. That could help too.

WHY ARE THEY HERE IN DUSKWICK? WHAT IS THEIR OPINION OF THE STRANGE RUMORS?
He lives there, and he hates it because now there are a bunch of idiots running around filming themselves shouting and exploring old buildings with their phones. And they always do it in vertical! So, you know, he kinda hopes they disappear… Just a little…

HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE THIS CHARACTER CHANGE AND DEVELOP?
Maybe he'd stop being so aloof and lazy, open up to some of the goddamn bloggers who keep showing up all over town… Hell, maybe he'll even make some friends! And he'll show everyone how much of a badass he is too, so that'll be fun.

Well, Adrian, his second oldest and best friend in the whole goddamn world has disappeared, so he's also kind of invested in discovering what the hell is going on. Maybe he'll even make some new friends in the process.

I mean, he won't be younger than twenty, but yeah... Probably twenty one because Americas alcohol laws are weird.

SOL CITY - Modern Slice of Life - Chapter 2 - Completed & archived. 2/2

Alright, here he is! The new and 'improved' Joseph Moore! I hope you're all ready for a more eccentric, loveable goofball than the serious downer who made a suit out of cardboard last season! This time, he'll probably cut loose and make some Hawaiian shirts out of it instead!

Special Talent: Joseph is a surprisingly good cook, a talent that comes from living alone for a few years now, wandering the country and doing what he can to make the food he scrounges up somewhat edible.

He is also a decent writer, keeping several journals filled with stories from his travels, often adapted into a fantasy setting.

Finally, after he left Sol city in chapter one for a training arc, he is now somewhat skilled at martial arts, or at least as skilled as one can get learning from a fellow homeless man living under a bridge who called himself the Pigeon King.

Profession: Unemployed, and technically homeless. If you were to ask him, however, he'd probably say he's a wanderer, like Kenshin. He would then get into a small mental argument with himself over whether he should be embarrassed or not for talking to a 'real' person about anime or not.

Bio/Personality: For pretty much his entire life, Joseph has been a fairly withdrawn person. He never quite managed to get the hang of social interaction, and he had an annoying tendency to miss a lot of social cues.

This got to the point where, by the time he was fifteen, he had only ever had two friends, a pair of sisters who he knew when they were all kids. They managed to be friends for a good six years, before they moved away to somewhere across the country. After they left, he all but gave up on talking to other people entirely, retreating into the magical digital world of games, anime and writing. Things were going great, right up until one day when he was sixteen. What changed, you ask?

Well, his parents died. Car crash.

This led to a problem, in that back when they got married, it wasn't exactly with the approval of either of their parents. In fact, according to the stories they told him, it was with very adamant disapproval. Therefore, they did something that, in their minds, was the obvious choice, and ran away to the other side of the country to elope. Honestly, Joseph could kind of see his grandparents points, considering that his mother was the only child and 'heiress' to an honestly ridiculously wealthy family, his father was the son of an abusive heroin addict of a mother and a father who quite possibly didn't even know of his existence, having disappeared before his mother even learned of the pregnancy, and they were seventeen and sixteen respectively at the time of their escape. However, it also led him to a problem.

He was still a minor, and the government would probably try to place him in his richer grandparents care. He'd seen enough anime to know how they may very well see him, especially considering how they apparently saw his dad.

And so, out of fear of being put in the care of resentful grandparents, combined with the less than stellar mindset you tend to find yourself in when both of your parents have suddenly been stolen away from you, he did the only thing he could think of at the time.

Ask uncle google what you would need to survive on the road, gather it up along with your important keepsakes, and run away from home.

For the next four years, he traveled all across America. He managed to make enough money to not starve to death doing odd jobs, usually helping out on farms and the like. However, he still remained fairly withdrawn socially, never connecting with the people he helped in the way he would have liked.

However, this all changed when he arrived in Sol City and accidentally wandered into a karaoke night at Swan Song, simultaneously befriending and starting a war with two out of three of the richest, most powerful idiots in the city while only semi-conscious due to running on a week without food.

Things quickly spiralled out of control for Joseph, as he found himself a nice little alley to live in, attended a fancy party in a suit made entirely out of cardboard and duct tape, and took a new friend he'd made to hospital after she collapsed, only to have no idea what happened to her since he left the next morning. Eventually, realising that Sol City was actually a hotbed of localised chaos, he left the city to continue his wandering. However, things changed again when he ran across the elderly homeless Korean man he would soon come to call teacher. However, he only referred to himself by one name, the Pigeon King. After spending a couple of days beneath the bridge with the old man, Joseph came to realise that he was actually quite the martial artist when he fought off a pack of feral dogs that had been trying to steal his food. Excited by this well of knowledge, he asked the elderly man to teach him, and despite some initial reluctance, he soon decided to pass his knowledge down to Joseph. For a little over a month, Joseph trained day and night in the hodge-podge, makeshift martial art that his teacher called Hatojutsu, which as you've probably figured by now, means Pigeon Arts.

However, the name isn't what's important now. What's important is that, after training with the Pigeon King for a little over a month, Joseph decided that, even with the general craziness he'd seen in Sol City, he truly felt like he really belonged there. And now, with an outlook on life that was clearly far more eccentric and easygoing than it had been in the past, it had probably never been more true! After all, he'd just spent a month learning martial arts from a homeless man who talked to pigeons. He might actually be overqualified to survive in that crazy goddamn city!

Well, I started around January of last year, so I'm still kind of inexperienced compared to a lot of other people I've met. Not too bad, of course, but I see far better fairly often.

Gonna be honest, it kind of fluctuates. Sometimes I'll be able to post once a day, or even more, and then other times a full week will pass before I can get to it.

*Anything else you want to mention? What you do for a living? How much do you work a week? What do you enjoy doing besides writing? Put as much as you want.

Honestly, I don't really know what to say. I'm currently looking for a job, but don't have one at the moment. I'm dreadfully shy in real life, so that makes it a little difficult. Apart from writing, I don't have a whole lot of real hobbies. I guess martial arts and cooking could also count, but I haven't cooked in a little while.
So yeah, not really a whole lot I can say...
