Being truly on my own is a bit of a weird feeling. It's never really happened.

Let it never be said that sometimes extreme brevity isn't the most appropriate post, though. Everything is a tool.

Alice Marlowe

The Beach

It was a warm summer's day, the sun was shining, and until just now there had been nothing to spoil Alice's decision to go down to the beach for some ice-cream. In short, the exact opposite of any sort of setting for a noir feel. You'd have hell trying to get decent chiaroscuro with this level of ambient light. Such were the faux-detective's idle thoughts as she waited in line to be served.

Fortunately for her enjoyment of the day, the reports of a downpour-ranked threat only came in after the mint-flavoured treat was handed over and paid for. Making rather less haste than the situation strictly called for, as running into people coming the other way would not help matters and lose her snack, the superhero headed for the shore. Monsters were such a pain to deal with; they never seemed to appreciate the efforts you had to go to in order to create a suitably dramatic monologue

It ended up not being the crocodile-man that Alice ran into first. Instead...

Blade of Ire. A two-bit hack of a villain with no goals and as much taste in clothing, Alice thought, having made a note to learn as many C-rank or higher villains expressly for the purpose of being able to get into the right mindset, The sort of broad that seems like a good date then bleeds you dry after.

Seeing as she'd started on the wanton destruction of property rather than attacking people, it seemed prudent to stop things without escalating: the law still applied to heroes. Or if it didn't, Alice was going to apply it anyway. That meant no assault, but she had an easy way to deal with wanton sword-swinging: move towards Irene's path, then interpose her hair between sword and phone. A bunch of the strands wrapped together and shot out, intercepting the next attack, and then endeavouring to wrap around the blade and yank it free.

"Hero, here. Something you need?" The hardened expression and disaffected-sounding words were undermined somewhat by the hero's decision to keep eating her ice-cream. She'd paid good money for it.

@Xiphonic
Alice now has an appearance. Which means I should really start posting.
@tanderbolt You got anything planned that an overly-nosey vampire might know, before I write this? Or are you leaving it to the GM or something? XD
@Krinos Solstice I'm... confused. Is Kira meant to be a villain? Particularly one of the 'irredeemable sociopath' breed? Lopping off arms (probably causing death by arterial bleeding) for being drunk is beyond the pale for even extreme misandry... and most magic associations dislike getting that sort of attention.

Unless she's meant to get a fatal coalition less than halfway through any plot, I guess that cutting a guy's arm off is over the top--a less problematic, but still violent, reaction would be just breaking it and not unsheathing the sword.
@tanderbolt Rejoice, Soeno Tetsuo! There is free beer!

@Jay Kalton Kana, now being asked for restaurant locations. XD
Saotome Ami, Vampire Bartender

Seeing somebody come in, the vampire quickly muted the gameshow rather than subject her customers to watching singers fail to get extremely simple questions wrong and other such pitfalls of celebrity quiz shows. The girl's clothing seemed a bit too casual for an environment that appeared to have been plucked straight out of 19th century Europe: lots of wood in evidence, windows with an unreasonable amount of panes, brass, and carpeting. After centuries of running a ryokan, Ami had wanted a change in decoration... yet modern styling hadn't really grown on her yet.

Today's first customer was someone that she hadn't seen in a while and never on his own. Not that it was hard to guess why, deaths weren't the easiest thing to keep hidden. Certainly not messy ones--not from a vampire with a habit of wandering the town when everybody else was sleeping or working a night shift.

The beer was placed in front of the much larger man, no request for payment made, "That one's on me; I heard what happened. I'm sorry for your loss." And I wish that I knew more or had been able to stop it.

Yoshikawa Miu

Continuing her meandering pace through the park, the 'one-eyed' girl decided to just do the simple thing and ask a local where she could get something to eat; then she'd just pick the thing they had for sale that sounded the simplest. Unfortunately for the rumbling in her stomach, Miu picked the single person travelling through the park that seemed local yet wasn't from the area--much like herself.

Funnily enough, she also managed to single out a mage when her attention had wandered from singling out her opponents in order to warn them that 'The World' was going to kill them if they didn't drop out of the war. Though any overt notice of the sword wouldn't be missed, general surprise would pass unnoticed due to her injuries.

"Excuse me, miss, but could you possibly suggest somewhere nearby I could buy dinner?" Miu asked Kana, her unnecessary politeness belying both her normal attitude and ego. Her parents had brought her up to be deferential and it was a habit she'd never grown out of--mostly conversing in English gave her little reason to.
@Lunar Not trying to be rude or anything... but if you're not going to try a little harder for detail and accurate grammar, this might not be the right forum. ^^;
So long as there's blood in my body.
The appearance shall one day be updated. XD
