Being truly on my own is a bit of a weird feeling. It's never really happened.

Let it never be said that sometimes extreme brevity isn't the most appropriate post, though. Everything is a tool.

@Jay Kalton@VitaVitaAR Looks like Asami's getting company. xD
Yoshikawa Miu

"Thank you for taking time out of your schedule to accompany me," Miu replied, bowing slightly and--as would have been expected--missing the startled reaction to her equipment. Ramen, huh? She'd never actually had the proper stuff, but it wasn't like Kana was suggesting pickled sheep brains or fermented shark or the many other bizarre dishes that the white-haired mage wanted nothing to do with. A better version of those terrible boil-in-a-pot snacks couldn't be that bad, either...

Patiently, the war's most powerful magic user waited for her unknown competitor to lead the way.
@Jay Kalton Japanese. She's only going to use English with the obvious foreigners.

Or Asami, since she knows she'll understand.
@Jay Kalton Hello?
Alice Marlowe

Alice continued to eat her ice-cream, ignoring the glassing of the stray sand and the juvenile insults. This was a C-Rank villain, really? The flaming swords were a neat trick, Alice admitted, but otherwise she seemed to be a braggart with a modicum of actual fighting ability. Who the hell stood around to insult an enemy without at least preparing something?

For instance, her own spreading hair as it shot out and twisted, with various strands pointing at Irene from numerous directions. The build-up had been plainly telegraphed and yet got completely ignored, leading to Alice's next words to Radical X: "If she's still up, pin her."

From every side, the hair-drills darted in to pierce the sword-wielding villain, with their controller finishing off her ice-cream. By design, the thrusting had no rhythm yet avoided aiming for any absolutely-fatal wounds; having time to prepare and build up your strongest attack was good for casualty reduction.

Nonchalantly, Alice took a bite of the ice-cream. Good stuff, too; she'd have to remember to come back here and try some more of the flavours in the future. Of course, that required not being splattered all over the pavement by a fellow hero. the hair that had just been attacking Irene more or less 'rolled' back, forming a thick cushion that would either slow Radical X or otherwise direct him harmlessly over her shoulder and towards the beach itself.

The detective-styled hero made no aggressive moves towards the villain as she continued to savour the minty snack, though from the lengthening cloud behind her, Alice would have something coming soon. For now, she simply continued to watch, her response to the fire being to fish around in a pocket for a packet of cigarettes.
@Xiphonic ... does Irene still have both swords? One line's confusing me:
She then dropped the entangled blade down with speed to get it free. After this whole maneuver, she took a giant leap back to get some distance.
Shouldn't be too difficult to get to that point; she's not got the best match-up here.
Saotome Ami

The vampire thought. Grudges, huh? If anyone had been planning this for a while, then they'd done a remarkably good job of keeping it to themselves. A quick, one-man job was easy to fly under her radar, especially in the build up to the White Night when there were so many more people than usual.

Ami shook her head, taking the glass and replacing it--though this time expecting payment, "I hadn't heard anything before the murder happened. If you're going to stick around for the White Night... be careful. I've seen people come in assuming it's a one-night fight to the death and throw their lives away aiming for a kill they didn't even need to do."

"If you lose, come here. This is the safest place in the city," she warned, "Don't turn this into a suicide attempt."
... yup, no goals. :P
