Keith turned his attention back to the entrance, as he heard another sound of the door chime.

The newcomer, a woman who looked like she belonged more in a funeral than a coffee house, was another one of the new employees that Leonardo had shown him. He heard that she's a hotshot from the Clock Tower who had to run to America after a political fallout. A common enough story for mages around here. Though one from an older family like hers was somewhat rarer.

Well...'old'. From what Leonardo had told him, five hundred year-old was considered relatively young back in England and the Clock Tower. In America, 500 is definitely old. Likewise, in the grand scheme of things, a Cause-rank mage like her is considered an 'average' skilled mage. Here in America, Cause-rank carried more prestige with it. Leonardo himself got attention because he was a Cause-rank mage from a prestigious family.

Magi rankings might not directly correlate to strength, but since their source of strength is magecraft, more often than not, they do correlate.

In any case, no wonder Leonardo hired her. Based on reputation alone, another Cause-rank mage would definitely draw more clients. And while Keith was only capable of rudimentary magecraft, he at least learned enough to sense magical energy when he was in the same line of business as Leonardo. The girl's definitely carrying a notable mystic code.

"Welcome," he greeted her, "One of Leonardo's new hires, right? The rest of your colleagues are over there," Keith said as he pointed at the table where Winnifred, Sunny, and Richard were seated.

"If you want a coffee or something to drink, give me a holler, and I'll whip one up on the house."

"No? Is that a no to the coffee or a no to being Leo's new employee?" the café owner asked. Somewhat unsure, he continued, "Pretty sure your face is the one he showed me in that picture, though. Uh..."

He remembered that she had a somewhat odd name.

"Winnifred, right?"

Before the girl could answer, the door opened again, revealing another one that he remembered from the pictures Leonardo had shown him. This time, a man in his thirties.

The barista welcomed the man in a similar manner to how he had welcomed the girl. This time with more receptive results.

"Mocha's good. Don't worry, consider it a 'welcome drink'. We're going to work in the same building after all," he said. He then added in the same jocular manner as Sunny, "You're paying next time, though. Oh, and no, my name's not Glenlight. That's just the name for the café my daughter came up with. My name's nowhere that fancy. It's just Keith. Keith Sherman."

Turning to the girl, he then added, "Anyway, if you change your mind and want a cup of coffee or something else, just give me a holler."

Keith started his work on the coffee when the door opened again, and another one of Sidereal Agency's new recruits showed up, whom he then directed to where Sunny and Winnifred were.

Having finished with the coffee, he brought them to the three, snorting in amusement as he saw Richard adding his own concoction to the coffee, "I don't particularly care, but some of my regulars would lynch you for messing my coffee like that. Anyway, you're free to make your own concoctions, just don't make a mess. Oh, and feel free to talk about magecraft or whatever, I'm already aware of it."

That is a hit. Could you roll for damage please?

Done it's 8.

Btw, rolling with hope means adding a hope token, right?

Located in the upper half of Southern Millhaven, nestled in the quiet neighbourhood of Brackenmere, was an establishment under the name of Glenlight Café.

As the name suggested, it was, of course, a café. In particular, a small one that sat halfway down a narrow, unnamed street in the neighbourhood, the kind of lane that bends just enough to hide what lay at the end of it.

The café prided itself on freshly brewed good-quality coffee beans and a cosy ambience, with deliberate and gentle lighting. Together with its modest size and somewhat 'hidden' location, the café was the sort of place that could be described as 'charmingly rustic'. The sort of place that would be frequented by those in the hipster subculture or coffee enthusiasts, many among them the sort that would look down on a certain famous American coffeehouse chain for not 'serving real coffee'.

Nailed to the brick wall just below the sign for the café, however, was a sign for a different establishment. Compared to the vintage look of the café sign, this one was more modern and minimalist looking, a simple black sign with a star on it, as well as the name 'Sidereal Agency' and the tagline of 'Cosmic Solutions, Down to Earth Prices'.

Established recently, just last year, the Sidereal Agency was a detective-fixer service with a focus on strange cases related to the occult. It had put out an ad a few weeks back, the owner deciding to recruit employees as the agency was poised to handle bigger cases this year.

And today was the day that the new employees of Sidereal Agency would start their work, early in the year 2020.

Thus, when the owner of the Glenlight Café heard the sound of the door chime that notified him of a customer, he turned around and quickly matched the face of the newcomer to the ones in his memory that the owner of the agency above his establishment had told him about.

Both being business owners sharing the same building, such cooperation was natural, after all.

With a smile, he greeted his guest in a jovial tone that matched the classy yet casual atmosphere of the smooth jazz playing in the café.

"Welcome. Looking for the Sidereal Agency, right? It's on the second floor. Your employer said he's running a bit late today, though. Something about meeting a contact. Feel free to wait here, I'll serve a cup of coffee on the house."
Posted. Sorry for the late reply
Arnannel

"Well, firing arrows at it was the reason I got to higher ground, so yes," Arnannel replied to the hunter as he drew an arrow from his quiver.

Still...hold it still or cauterise the wound was a tall order. Holding down a rampaging Auroch this size was difficult to do without exceptional physical strength or restraining magic. Physical strength was not exactly his forte, and restraining magic...well, he already went down that train of thought about not yet learning druidic magic.

That meant if he were to try helping, it would be to cauterise the wound. At this distance, it meant to try hitting the wound with a flaming arrow, presumably why the hunter told them to light some arrows. But obviously, hitting a small target such as a wound on a moving prey like the Auroch—big as it was—was easier said than done.

Honestly, his instinct was to just try killing the Aurochs. It seemed to have been somewhat injured already, and with this many archers, they can probably do some real damage with a volley of arrows.

That was his role—well, the role of Sylrowen elves his age—back in Fanewick, after all. The younger elves were hunters meant to represent the reaping aspect of the Great Owl Nikta, hunting those that had grown past what was healthy for the biome.

An Auroch this size—probably due to witherwild—was obviously not normal. It was a herbivore. It had no business charging into the settlement and endangering other 'organisms of the forests'. That was not its role.

So by Sylrowen Clan's logic, this Auroch was to be exterminated.

But he wasn't really part of the Sylrowen clan anymore, was he?

He still thinks it would be simpler to try killing the Auroch instead, but he supposed there was no harm in trying. If his arrow missed the wound, it would still hit the Auroch either way as long as he didn't completely miss his mark.

Like the rest of the hunters, Arnannel then lit up the arrow he held, before nocking it on his bow.

He took a breath and held it as he aimed the lit arrow at the open wound.

Locking on to his target, he released the arrow.

@Randomguy You still with us? If so, is there anything you would like to add before the next GM post?

Sorry, I missed the last post. Will post something in a bit

@Digmata

Sunny and Richard are good to go.

@Dane

What exactly is her relation to Shiki and Touko, since she's franchising Garan no Dou? In canon, Garan no Dou basically stops operating after Touko left, IIRC. The building is owned by other person, but they no longer do detective stuff.

Also, I'm not quite sure why she's applying to work for her competitor if she's opened an american branch of Garan no Dou.

Clock Tower, Department of General Fundamentals

She doesn't need to go to the Clock Tower I feel like. She doesn't do magecraft.

Mystic Code - Muramasa (Variant) - not the actual cursed blade but the name itself, invokes fear. The blade feeds on blood from mana, allowing it to recover from being chipped/nicked. It is one with Maki, in essence, designed to only be used by her, anyone who touches the blade, triggers the failsafe of its nakago/handle, invoking barbed spikes. The stored mana in return is used as ranged Manaburst slashes, and because it feeds on Mana, it is a niche counter against magic barriers.

Unless you have something specific in mind, it can't just repair itself from mana, as in it's not replacing the chipped metal with magical energy because magical energy can't create something from nothing. I get that this is basically Zabuza's sword, but nasuverse magecraft is not as flexible as naruto's jutsu, unfortunately.

Budget mana burst is fine. Obviously it's nowhere as good as actual mana burst, but it make the sword exert more force basically, right? That's fine. It won't counter magical energy, but disturbing the flow of magical energy somewhat reducing the strength of the barrier is fine.

@Thanatos 7

Address : church of christ the carpenter

She would be on St Elmo's Church. The Church of Christ the Carpenter is the protestant one that doesn't have ties to the supernatural.

Survived encounter with a Rank VII Dead Apostle

No. Too powerful there is no way Selene would survive Rank VII even with her Church Grim. I told you that Rank III or IV max on discord, no?

@Silverstein

2nd year student, Clocktower (botany) (dropout)

He's just in General Fundamentals since he dropped out

Also, @darksidevoid

Also, I'm quite new to this site, so I just want to make sure: are we supposed to post our signups here in the OOC tab, or the Characters tab, if they're not yet accepted?

Technically OOC, but I'm intending to accept all applications after review and whatnot, so either works.
@darksidevoid
@Digmata

Well I did say 6 and currently there are 5, but I suppose I can take two more and make it seven and close the RP. I'll send you the discord links in a bit
