Theory of curiosity, tech is still approximately the same here a story it was in IRL right? Just more heavily monitored and such.
I am not familiar with the inspiration series. Is that going to be an issue?
Oh this looks interesting. I've always wanted to play a double agent collaborator? Someone that looks like they are working with the occupiers but are working with the resistance. Local Postmaster, Police Officer, that sort of thing. They would be close to the source of intel, and could potentially cause a massive pain in the ass for the Soviets, but at the same time would be really close to the commissar should things go south.

Margot barely had time to look at the other woman. "Oh, I know you, you're—" It felt like someone dumped a bucket of water on her. She'd barely registered what'd happened as the storm roared, wind throwing her cape over her head.

People screamed around her as she was buffeted, eventually bumping into something and falling to the ground. Her mask displayed an alert that the government had just declared a typhoon alert. After a few moments of struggling she got her cape off her face, her hand keeping her hat from flying off. Staying low and holding onto the railing, she worked her way back to Brooke and Jill. Already the building creaked ominously. "What's going on with this weather?" she shouted, "We need to find shelter!" Sirens wailed in the distance as people stumbled around, making their way to emergency exits before the entire place collapsed.

The trek through the wilderness was surreal. One moment we were walking over pastoral plains, only to enter a desert that scorched the mind and body. My jacket worked against me, and before I had even started to take it off, sweat poured down my face, my mouth tacky with thirst. The blowing sand was rough enough to make putting the jacket back on seem worth it.

Almost as treacherous was the ice and snow that soon followed. Here my jacket was worth it and fora moment I was back in 2000, during that storm of the century. In a cruel bit of irony my sweat only made me colder, and I zipped up my jacket for the first time in years.

If it weren't for the discomfort, I could've sworn I was in a dream. Every time I blinked it seemed like I was in another world, surrounded by a motley crew of misfits that walked out of some basement dweller's deranged writings. I envied the robot and its near ceaseless march, the whirring of its motors almost hypnotic. The baseball player themselves showed no sign of fatigue either, their intense gaze fixed forward even as the others started to slow down.

Finally we found ourselves in a jungle, the humidity sticking to my skin, the smell all too reminiscent of some of the dirtier parts of the East River. Stomachs growled around me, my own hunger a reminder of why we were here to begin with. Cedar took no time in pointing out that this was a good place to look, and Julian had her robot act as a ladder as she wasted no time climbing over a fallen log. I followed behind her, cautiously eying the robot. "Hey, I'll join you. I can't tell you the last time I cooked with something other than a microwave, but two sets of eyes are better than one."

With Roger's help, the Hou Yi managed to keep what was left of their commander's frame in as few pieces as possible. The entire time they spent bringing the wreck back to the NOAH was maddeningly quiet. No contacts on the HUD, no murmuring from the Hou Yi, only the seemingly muted instructions from the flight deck crew as they got closer and closer to landing. Every second they spend out there, Krista expected dozens of Cruxi contacts to suddenly light up her screen.

Once they got close enough, the NOAH's own systems took hold of Elise's wreck. Krista couldn't help but notice how similar the procedure was to salvaging operations she'd seen on her home-world. She followed the instructions of the control room to guide herself back into her loading bay, the others conspicuously empty. She had to remind herself that she was returning early, not alone. Once the final power tether locked onto Hou Yi's legs and his motor functions disabled, she slumped in her seat. Letting out a long shuddering breath, she waited for signal that it was safe to leave the cockpit. She watched techs secure the Priwen, ensuring it's integrity. She pressed her hands to her face, tearing up and muttering to herself. "Crap, Ah can't believe ah got through that."

Germany:
Having some time off was undoubtedly nice, even if it meant effectively babysitting. At least Askin and Brenda were both willing to help her get food and such. Askin more so than Brenda. She also took the time to figure out how they were going to get across the Atlantic, as well as time to process her cut of the payment from Jonas. Thankfully everything went smoothly until they neared the town.

"Look at the size of that thing!" She pointed to an upcoming exit sign. "That's it. Shouldn't be more than 15 minutes away," she shouted back. Speeding back up, she pulled ahead of the truck, the motorcycle quickly accelerating despite the passenger in the sidecar. The opposite lanes were full of cars, busses and trucks trying to flee the town, as well as some people who had stopped simply to watch the spectacle.

"We may not even have to fight it!" Brenda shouted over the loud sounds of the dragon. "Someone else is beating up to the chase."

Otsana looked over and saw the two figures already engaging the dragon. "Like hell they are," she muttered. She was about to gun it but she heard Askin talking to klara at the last second. Slowing down just enough to keep pace with the truck, she threw her two cents in. "Yeah I think I can get Klara and myself to the fight faster than you guys can. I was thinking about going on ahead and throwing our hat into the ring."

Japan:
Margot ran under the stands, water pouring off her cape and hat. She sipped at a warm can of tea, bought from a vending machine, as she searched for a local news stream, relying on her rusty Japanese. The good news was that the local internet was still working, the bad news was being broadcast on by a very nervous pair of variety show hosts tried to fill in until the proper news anchors.

"This just in from the Japanese Meteorological Agency: A storm warning has been declared over Tokyo and the surrounding prefectures have been placed on storm advisory. While they are trying to figure out how this storm developed so quickly, they advise citizens to take normal storm precautions. They also warn that the storm is spreading rapidly. While no state of emergency has been declared, it is prudent to keep listening for further updates. There have been reports the river water levels are rapidly rising, and heavy gusts are whipping up heavy waves."

The coverage soon degraded into the two hosts speculating on the weather, and eventually going back to their normally scheduled programming of reviewing a local cafe.

"Sounds like I won't be touring the city today." she muttered to herself. She headed back towards the arena. Thankfully the first match had just ended, and there was going to be a break before the next match started. Spotting Brooke, she walked up beside her and patted her shoulder, pulling another warm can of green tea out of a plastic bag. "Perfect timing, eh? What'd I miss?"
