Grikgar /Grik/ Seeker

// Unggoy Ultra // Demolitions and Artillery // Location: Enemy Stronghold

The words from the Spartan made Grikgar flinch slightly and he skidded to a stop. Shifting a bit too early to turn he found himself hopping on one leg to stop him from falling over. The Unggoy then made his way back down the other hall with the all too familiar run / waddle that grunts did when they were in a hurry. “Grikgar understands, right side is best side.”

He stopped next to the human who called himself Roy and tossed him the spiker grenade he found. “Here go, this grenade fun.” Honestly those grenades where fun but they just didn’t fit right on his belt. The grenade itself was designed to maim and cause fear more than it was designed to kill. But Grikgar has seen how the spikes from it ricochet in the confined forerunner structures like these and are quite useful in tight areas. Before the man could answer he was off again moving down the right hall this time.
Truus {Vulcan} Kepler

The reply from the locals was what he was expecting, at least these people where not going to just go hide in a hole. This made the man smile, “it’s good to see you lot have some balls. May end up partially destroying a building or two setting up. But whatever I destroy ill help you build back up.” Vulcan wasn’t one to make idle threats or promises if he did either one he was always serious about it. Turning to look at Holly he nodded, “Understood fire team leader.” Essentially that was what she was with their numbers.

The super soldier made his way back to the ship and after a few moments stepped out of the ship in Approaching Storm. He was carful and took his time looking over the area. With the hand of his Mech he began digging three shallow holes in right inside the gate in a triangle pattern that was spread out. He wasn’t going to set the charges just yet only finding their homes. His voice came over the comms and his Mech’s PA system, “If you have any scrap metal, ball bearings, or any small explosives you would like to add get it in these holes.” This would help against anti infantry as well as Mech’s they might have.

With that Vulcan moved to the building looking directly at the main gate and started to set up his position.

Merik nodded towards the human leader of the city when he asked about the wooden poles, “The sharp ones at the gates.” He didn’t really care if the man understood the lizard man just waited and listened to what the others were saying. All good points in their own right, the information about their leader was interesting almost as interesting as the proposition to strike them beyond the walls. “Merik would also like to go over wall if possible, but later defend wall first.” Merik listened to the rest of the conversation until he was told where to go and with who. When it was time to leave Merik smiled and gripped Acrius’s shoulder, “If you die Merik will honor you with eating your heart.” The prince said he needed to work on his farewells so hopefully this was right.

The west wall was abuzz with activity. Humans in armor moving wood and supplies to the gate and wall. The explosives that Merik had received from what was left from the tunnels where secured on his person. He knew what he was going to do with them but depending on how powerful they were his plan could backfire. A chance he was willing to take, if the orcs breached this wall he would become the wall.

Rudolf looked rather busy ordering around the soldiers who seemed to be busy. Merik stayed in front of the gate assisting the other men with setting up the timbers to the weakened gate. Then when they started setting up the barricades Merik had them set them up a few feet back from where they were. This would allow him to use his full sword arc around him without hitting the stone walls of the gate or the wooden barricades. He was well aware that it was time to begin when the first stone made it over the wall.

Merik could see some soldiers preparing a cauldron of a black viscous liquid known to him as tar. The humans used it to seal their homes from the rain but he also knew it to be used as a defense against invaders and it was flammable. The large lizard made his way to the pot where a man was stirring it, “Ready?” the commoner seemed startled by his appearance and just nodded. “Good. Bring me torch.” Picking up the medium sized pot would have been a job for two humans but the beast was able to take it up himself straight to the top of the gate and set it down. Quickly he took out the explosives and set them next to him.

He was crouching and looking out toward the mass of enemy’s coming toward them. The ram was his target, he would wait here until it was under him then pour the tar, drop the explosives, and then the torch. Combined it should set the ram alight and hopefully disable it making another burning blocked entrance for the enemy’s. “Merik is fine, how is Ruduf?” Merik called out while taking the torch from the man that brought it to him.
Grikgar /Grik/ Seeker

// Unggoy Ultra // Demolitions and Artillery // Location: Enemy Stronghold

Grikgar was most impressed that the larger than average plasma explosive did so well and didn’t turn into a singularity that threatened the very existence of reality. An unnecessary thought for the predicament at hand but one he could indulge in latter with a meal. Knowing that the Sentinels power sources would react in such a way was a definite thing to remember. At least for now with their combined efforts the enemy number seemed to be dwindling.

The others continued on to assist the downed phantom but Grikgar remained where they had been dropped off at for a moment longer. This for him was necessary to recover more ammo, explosives, and one of the jackal shields that the humans where using earlier. With that he regrouped with the others as they were heading inside. He had managed to scrounge in his haste, 2 human fragmentation grenades, 1 rocket, 3 rounds for a brute shot, and one brute spiker grenade. The Unggoy was quick to offer the grenades to any of the others he passed while hobbling towards the front, the awkward fuel rod gun swayed back and forth with the grunts steps.

The way had forked and Grikgar, although having to catch his breath, continued on to the left. “Quickly come with Grik, time is not friend. The rest go the other way, double back if find wrong door yes.” Not so much of a question as much as it was an order, he was well aware time was not on their side. Although he wasn’t the team lead for this mission he still believed he outranked most of the others there. That and Grikgar knew that humans when underestimating others sometimes became irritated when those they perceive as weaker than them go into battle first.
Truus {Vulcan} Kepler

Truus took his time getting his things ready and double checking his mech. The others may have been excited to get out but he didn’t mind the difference. There was only two things that truly interested him here, the fight and the mega fauna. Storm seemed okay but he was jostled a little while he was checking its shoulder by the priest, “Oi watch it.” It was just a young AI but they could still be a hassle some times.

He locked his helmet into his suit and powered up his rifle, no matter the situation, no matter how peaceful or hostile you can almost always count on Truss being in his combat suit. He stepped out onto the ramp in his red and black armor looking first to Holly then to the state of the surroundings. “Aye we could do it.” The old world Scottish accent still carried over into his speech patterns. “Could bury myself in some rubble looking at the front gate. Hide the signature from storms reactor.”

A few more steps down the ramp to the base and he could see the jungle around them. “Could rig a few of Storm’s mines to a detonator, and give it to one of you lads.” The boy decided to talk next and relay some information. Truus walked past the boy and patted him on the back maybe a bit hard, “Good job boy, its called a kill zone.” Continuing past him to stand next to Holly and the local’s and nodding towards them. “Truus Kepler at your service. I extend the greeting from both myself and Harrison Arms and Armory. Tell me you and yours able to hide out deeper in the mines until this storm passes?” the large man didn’t extend his hand for them to shake he just kept his hands on his rifle.
Ardur The Mighty Hipixie
Let there be light >> a time to rest /// Adventuring day 5 // Night / Location - outside the cave

Ardur continued to throw stones but not at anything in particular just enough to keep the beasties back. The way had been cleared and the light and heat from the burning pile of squirming bodies seemed to be keeping the rest of the enemy’s at bay. Asura continued to carry Trent out of the cave and the bigger knight was there to greet them with a worried look. “I’m alright I just need to recuperate my mana.” Looking down at Steve he smiled and scratched her carapace. “You did amazing Steve.” He spoke with a smile as he picked her up. “ooo and an evolution huh? Hmm.”

Setting the spider back down the pixie looked over to the knight while he was casting healing spells on the others. Trying to see if there was a difference between what the knight did for healing and what he did for healing. On top of that he was very curious as to what spell he used on Asura and watched him very closely, “Stamina or antidote?” he wondered as his attention was brought back to his spider.

Let’s see where to put your skills, hmmm 4 points into web spit. 6 points into thread control, 3 points into blunt resistance and the rest into pierce resistance. Ardur paused while still smiling down at his friend. Out of the choices and our current situation I believe it would be best if you stayed an Oculus spider. So I choose Adult Oculus Spider, when you come out of it I’ll have your soup and what’s left of the bow horn for you.” With a smile he patted his friend on the head again and sat down to eat his food.

After he was done eating Ardur Stood and looked to the knight after he was done talking about watch shifts. “That’s understandable, if you need me I’ll be over here meditating.” Setting the bowl down Ardur glanced at the cocoon that Steve was in and smiled.

The pixie made his way to the edge of the light and sat down he began to meditate while he was thinking of where to allocate points. He was talking in his head as he allocated the points, “9 points into minor regeneration I, 3 points into Reinforce, and 1 point into Guidance I. with this I should have three points left for what I want if it’s even possible.” He thought while continuing to meditate. There were two things he wanted to do before he slept.

The first thing he began to do when he felt his mana was sufficient enough to do so. He used Guidance II and spoke quietly as he looked up at the stars. Spirits of the sun I Ardur call out to you. To Dhulfiqar the King, I call out to you. To Galatine the Protector, I call out to you. To Claidheamh the Mother, I call out to you. I do not call to the three holy spirits because I believe I can acquire more power from you, I call to you because you all represent the sun and what it means to your people, what you mean to the children of the sun. I worship the sun therefore I worship all of you. I only ask that you tell me what I can do for you and I will accept it. He paused for a moment and envisioned the remaining three skill points he had being given to them.

I gift you each one of my skill points, so that you may give it to a follower in need or do with it as you please. Even if you or your followers don’t get along we all still worship the sun and each one of your strengths compliments each other’s. So much so that together there is no weakness among you. With that offering he returned to his meditation with a change. He didn’t focus on drawing more mana into him, this time he focused on the mana he had. Taking his time to identify within himself the different types of mana that all swirled around inside him.

Focusing on his core the middle of his abdomen right at the base of the rib cage he envisioned his mana. First as a white light, glowing brightly as it churned in a circle this was the mana of the spirit. That was the mana he currently held. Again he began concentrating more this time on the mana he felt when he was casting fireball, flare, or the warmth of the sun and mixed that white light with orange. Then he remembered the mana from the water and what Undine had used to cast Depth charge, this portion of his mana was blue. Again he continued remembering what the mana that came from the earth felt like and how it felt to use stone shot and again turned it to the color green.

He continued through the strange sensation he was making, and this time separated out what he felt was the mana he absorbed from the air and turned it yellow. All of these colors white, orange, blue, green, and yellow swirled around in that little ball in chaos. It began to make him nauseous and made his chest start to hurt. Slowly Ardur began to keep all of these colors in their own part of the circle making them move in equal unison around each other in a sort of weird pinwheel. Ardur was unsure what he was doing or what would come of it, he could only hope it helped with mana control and possibly maybe even his mana reserves. Ultimately he would have to break his concentration and lay back on the grass out of breath.

Merik Roak

Merik continued on his trek, the scent of goblin drawing him through a grate and into the sewers below. The smell didn’t bother him much when it came to hunting goblins one should always expect them to go places that humans would not. The dank and dark depths of the sewer system reeked of goblin and Orc, Merik kept in a ready position keeping his senses high they could be around any corner. However, although the scent was fresh but there was nothing down there with him. The only thing he found was an opening to outside the walls and supplies meant for demolitions.

By the smell he knew that it was similar to what they had used against the gate earlier today. Slowly the large lizard poked his head up and out of the hole looking around carefully. He could see the walls of the city and the forest a ways off as well as the grate that had kept them out at one time. Merik slowly reached out gripping the metal bars and pulled it back into place. With a mighty yank and a twist Merik tried to jam it into position, this would make it difficult to reopen.

Merik had taken as much of the sapping supplies as he could with him back up to the nearest guard post and alerted them to what he had saw and gave them what he had brought. With a few gags they quickly pushed him out of the way and towards the stables to clean himself up. It wasn’t the first time he was told to do something like this but he understood that smelling nice was pleasant for most humans.

It didn’t take him long to clean up, the other animals in the stable where a little upset that he had been in there. The giant had found himself closer to the keep then the west gate by the time he was done and knew he would have to get some sleep before the day’s events ahead. The guards at the gate reluctantly let him in towards the keep but he found a nice place for a nap nearby.

Still in the darkness of the night Merik was able to find a large fountain in a decorative garden. The Lizardfolk found that the waters where cool and soothing and soon the beast was somehow completely inside the fountain. With his large head resting just above the waterline Merik found that he could not keep his heavy eye lids open in the cool waters and fell asleep.

---------------------------- The next morning ----------------------

Merik was awoken rather rudely, a few guards that had seen him once the sun began to rise had been poking him from a distance and telling him to wake up, "Oi! Wake up you oversized lizard. The Prince requested all of you's to meet him inside." Merik was in no mood to leave the waters just yet and at one point even bit the pole in half with a grumble. The lizard almost seemed to be acting like a young man that didn’t want to get out of bed. Still, the guards where persistent and eventually he slithered out onto the ground to stretch. Then made his way toward where the guards said the prince summoned him too.

The large warrior left a trail of water where ever he went within the keep. He took his usual spot at the back of the meeting as it was never really hard for him to see over the others. Waiting patiently for the prince to finish talking about his strategy and what to expect Merik spoke up, “Merik will go to the west gate. Merik requests the use of the confiscated supplies against the battering rams and more small wooden pillars to delay advance.” The lizard never really spoke too much and rarely complained during these meetings. He understood what was happening and how he could help.
