Hobgoblin Gird
well deserved rest >> Not the biggest thing in the forest /// Day 0 // Afternoon

The trek north was hard and slowly grew colder, even the occasional spider webs didn’t venture this far north. It seemed that they were not well suited for this climate just yet almost like it was on a whole nother level. Gird wanted to get a better view of their surroundings and decided to crest the hill in front of them for a better vantage point. He didn’t have to go very far to see the surroundings. Luz seemed to be waiting next to him on the hill and before them grew the ever imposing slopes of the tall snowy mountains.

With his new found near sightedness the hobgoblin found it difficult at first for his eyes to focus in on the distant snowcapped mountains, even Luz commented on it. She seemed to be pointing something out and stopped. It took him a moment longer to see just a glimpse of something red moving very quickly through the snow above, suddenly the beast stopped and almost looked as if it was starring right at them.

Gird’s blood ran cold and he even felt like he was being watched from something that could destroy him without a second thought, an apex predator that outclassed them in every way. His heart was racing, his muscles screamed at him to run but his mind couldn’t compute this sudden emotion of absolute fear. he was stuck and couldnt move, the gaze from the beast alone froze him just by looking at him. some moments that felt like hours passed and the beast looked away.

“th-th-th-that uhhh we we sh-should go.” He slowly stepped back and grabbed Luz by the arm pretty much dragging her with him until they were back in the forest and he could catch his breath. “ok umm, th-that was a b-bad idea. I th-think im just ganna go kill some uhh some spiders.” This was a bad idea but at least they knew not to go this way for a while still.

“lets go uhh eat something, spiders? R-right spiders yeah that sounds much better.” Well at least now he knew what fear really was and that the mountains were no match for them. Perhaps this could lead him to being able to resist being feared by other things as he doubted that they would be worse than whatever it was that that red mountain demon was. It at least told him one thing, if a beast could get that powerful so could he.

Summary: @Jangel13 Found a vantage point and saw something that almost made his very soul leave his body. @demonspade64 dragged Luz back into the forest a bit then decided to go back and just kill some spiders.

A slow snowy morning for sure winter was here and victor felt at peace. He enjoyed the eerie silence that came with snowfall in the forest. Winter was his favorite time of year not only was it quiet it also drowned out the color in the world to white, grey, and brown. Of course he wasn’t going to complain that the cold tended to keep the mages and humans indoors as well. The count did not know what his mage was doing and frankly he did not care.

Salem was given free reign of his training schedule for the first two weeks of school so that he could adjust it to how he saw fit. So far Victor thought he could at least manage that. However with the winter comes less daylight hours, good for him not so much for Salem. Soon the next step in his training would begin. Two days out of the week that were separated by at least one day Salem was going to start using his magic while training to a greater extent than he was before. Victor wanted to see what Salem was capable of for endurance and stamina when it came to physical exertion and magic usage. Depending on what was happening he may have him do more or less. The count really didn’t care what the boy was doing to use his magic as long as he was.

Victor stepped out of the house into the cool night air to catch a quick glimpse of someone entering Varis’s dorm. Seeing the princess nearby he could only assume that Varis was back or someone was here to collect his things. From the lack of a moving van he assumed the latter of the two. He couldn’t stop himself from frowning and even his shoulders dropped slightly. “Great I lost that bet.” Whispering to himself. The tall vampire was wearing his normal loose fitting attire and sat down on one of the chairs that was getting snowed on.

He had a small glass of blood that he was nursing while he slowly became covered in the snow. It did not melt off of him as he did not have body heat to melt it yet he did not find it annoying. Honestly he almost felt like an old man sitting on his porch waiting for some kid to step on his lawn so he could yell at them. Still, he was here to enjoy the silence and watch the others nearby as one does. It seemed the princess would not be alone for too long as Lillie soon joined her. The count starred for a moment then looked away, if they did lock eyes he would be sure to give her a respectful nod. But it wasn’t his place to listen in on their conversation and instead just opted to sit and listen to the falling snow.

Hobgoblin Gird
Swarm Tactics >> well deserved rest /// Day 0 // Morning > Afternoon

It worked, a bit of an issue here and there but it worked. Only a couple bats escaped from the colony and they were left with the rest. The bats were dead and he could finally satiate his hunger, even Luz seemed to be enjoying herself. Gird did not wait to dig into their catch leaning up against the tree as he did to catch his breath and rest.

The bats tasted ok but they would do for now, these new skills were about what he expected although the drawbacks were not. He could almost feel his hearing get better and better the more bats he ate, the light from the sun seemed to bother him a bit more but he even felt the pain from his wounds slowly dull as he ate their flesh and drank their blood.

As he neared the end of his portion of bats he found himself just starring at the last 4 bats. Something didn’t seem right, almost as if something deep down was telling him that the bats were not ready to be eaten just yet. The pale hobgoblin continued to eat just the wings from the four bats and set what was left next to him. Slowly he began to dig a hole next to the tree and placed the small bones of the bats that he did not consume as well as whatever scraps were left with some portions of his webbing into the hole and buried it.

“Again we thank you for your sacrifice, through you we grow stronger, and may you return to Duvelna to rest forever in peace.” There was always peace and order in death and the small prayer he made was all that he knew he could as he waited for Luz to return from gathering the bats trapped in the rest of the webs. He would wait for her and rest letting his food digest and to regain his energy. During this time the hobgoblin would ponder what to do next.

They were already north east from the church, farther north west from them were the spiders and he could get better thread control from them if they went that way. The snakes may be a good idea for later then there was always the possibility of whatever goblin grandpa told them to the far north. A beast of legend, something even he wasn’t sure of only that it was there. Girds curiosity and want to find a challenge sparked his interest. Once Luz returned he would ask her what she thought.

Once Luz returned, “Luz now that we are rested and fed do you still want to come with me? I am having a craving for more spiders but more so. I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that terrifies me. The thought of some beast of legend roaming the northern forests. We are already close to the area and the thought of even just seeing such a beast fills my heart with excitement.”

Summary: @Jangel13while resting Gird ate all but four of his bats other than their wings and buried what was left of the other bats he had eaten. He buried them next to him and said a small prayer. While resting he thought of what to do next, he wants more spiders but also wants to find the legendary beast to the far north. After Luz@demonspade64 returned he would ask her what she thought of where he wanted to go next.

Merik Roak

The wall had been a bit bigger than he thought it was but the giant lizard carried on until he was almost to the southern gate. it seemed that the resistance here proved to be enough and kept the intruders at bay for the day. The guards on the wall were tired and some were injured but they were alive. The wall was still standing and now it seemed like the battle had ended for now and they were victorious.

Merik left the wall soon after realizing this and walked through the city. Everyone seemed to be breathing a bit easier the people still kept their distance from him but that didn’t stop the oaf from moving heavy debris and waving at some of the citizens passing by. He even assisted a little old lady that seemed to be stuck outside her door and probably had something cooking because she was trying very hard to open the door. Merik simply reached over and popped the door open letting the old lady scamper inside then she shut the door quickly. Some people were sure in a hurry.

Merik could only assume why humans were always fast paced sometimes you just need to slow down and enjoy life. For example Merik took advantage of the city streets growing more and more energetic with food and people and alcohol. Some had even forgotten about the food left out on their carts. The lizard was able to get ahold of several types of fried fish, some weird bread that was sweet and crumbly, a bowl of stew, and a couple loafs of sweet bread. What a time to be alive with so much free food.

Alcohol was never really something he was interested in. Merik did not enjoy things that clouded his mind or made his body feel numb. Well except getting caught in a sunbeam during winter at the palace, that warmth can put this beast to sleep no problem. In his wandering he hadn’t realized that he had returned to the central keep, “Oh old man is in there.” He spoke to himself and entered the gate. The guards almost stopped him until they realized the black and red color of his clothes were not intentional and he was still covered in blood. That with the royal sigil still at his hip made it so the guards just stepped aside.

The one thing he was missing dearly all day had been the small pond next to the keep. It was just deep enough at the middle for him to submerge himself. He took the opportunity to set his things down next to the pool. Wearing his armor and leaving the few things he had not eaten and his sword the lizard waded out into the pool then slowly began to swim around. Twisting and turning to clean off his armor the clear waters slowly turning tinges of black and red. Soon he stepped out of the water walking on all fours and shook like a wet dog. His armor didn’t hold onto water being mostly stone and leather and the water simply dripped from his large frame.

After gathering his things Merik headed into the keep, most of the servants were away getting the dukes alcohol to the people and most of the others avoided him other than the ones cleaning up what little water dripped off him. He knew his way around just by scent, the old man smelt of mystery and things he could never quite make out to the point where he simply registered the scent as ‘the old man.’

Merik finally reached the war room and attempted to step inside but the brute’s sword decided that it wouldn’t be easy. After trying again he stumbled into the room only to see the quiet elf and no old man. “Elder sleep?” looking around for a moment and nodding, “elder sleep.” Seeming to answer his own question he stepped up to the elf and gently placed a loaf of sweet bread on her lap. Other than where he had poked through the paper wrapping with his claws the food seemed to be in good condition. Merik quietly set the rest of his food down in a corner of the room with his sword resting against the wall next to it. He attempted to bury what he had by moving a rug over it then stretched and yawned.

Returning to walking on all fours the Large Lizardfolk circled the elf in her chair once. If she was sitting against the wall he would move the chair off the wall so he could move around it. Stopping for a moment to nuzzle the friendly elf and rub his face against her head, “Elf elf elf.” He spoke with a cheerful tone. Almost like a large cat or dog he circled her twice more then settled down on the floor next to her. His head was resting near her right hand but his large frame nearly wrapped entirely around her with his tail finishing the circle and then some. It didn’t take him long to settle in and get some rest. Obviously whatever had transpired today left him in a very good mood as he was not normally this compassionate or friendly, it was almost loving in his own way. The elf was a good teacher, a good friend, and really good at playing hide and seek.

Run away! >> Swarm Tactics /// Day 0 // Morning

Running from the bats wasn’t the best and they seemed to be able to avoid most of the walls. Continuously getting pecked by them wasn’t helping either, at the very least his bone armor helped to absorb the damage but he wasn’t sure how his companion was doing. The net at the end worked as expected but the bats quickly squealed and drove the rest up and away from them. Gird quickly dispatched many of the bats that were still struggling in the net. Using Blessings of the dead he whispered, “We thank you for your sacrifice, we thank you for what you will provide for us, and we hope that Duvelna accepts you into her fold.” He spoke quickly then joined up with his friend back to back against the hoard.

He wasn’t sure if the goddess would accept these creatures as offerings. This however didn’t make them less dangerous. Luz’s plan seemed simple but she was right, the swarm would only grow if they waited and the bats had the height advantage. Following his friends plan just as she did for him. Gird feigned getting his foot caught in the net as he moved away from her and landed on the ground face first.

The hobgoblin landed so that he would be able to push himself up quickly in order to strike at the swarm. Using a combination of his skills to combat the perusing swarm, unarmed combat, beginner, Sharp Bite, Bloody strike, and Silk spinning. All were combined and used in unison, unarmed combat to raise his overall combat ability using just his teeth and sharp claws, sharp bite and bloody strike to injure or disable as many of the flyers as he could and silk spinning to be used as he swung his arms around to again tangle or catch any of the bats. He wasn’t trying to kill them out right, which could be done later. Right now he was just looking at diminishing their fighting ability.

Summery: @Jangel13 Gird killed a some of the bats trapped in the net quickly so they couldn't escape then offered their souls to Duvelna. then went back to back with @demonspade64Luz and on the count of three faked getting his leg caught in the net and fell to the ground away from her. he positioned himself in a way he could get up easily then used all of his combat skills to injure or disable as many bats as he could to decrease their fighting ability.
