The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio
I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly. I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists. I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...
I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.
I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.
I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time. I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.
Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.
Hey, my dude. I'm feeling a bit more motivated after my little hiatus from things. If you wanted to pick this up again, I'd be up for it. Although, maybe re-starting or at least rolling things back a bit might be an idea? Either way, let me know.
I've been away from RPG myself for a while; got a bit fed up with it for a bit, and other stuff got in the way much like yourself. I also recently rediscovered my love for BattleTech, as it was one of my first and favourite mecha setting and franchises. I'm not overly familiar with the lore past the Clan invasion era, but I've been brushing up a little bit here and there. From the sound of it, the freedom of the Jihad era and the presence of a clear 'bad guy' threat makes it seem like a good period to base a game in though. I'd be up for joining in, or at least giving it a try.
Yeah, sorry dude. I just seem to have lost all my enthusiasm for online RP as a whole lately. Not sure why, but it just seems to have dried up completely lately
@Silverwind Blade Approved, though I'll be shooting a message later on a few things that relate to vault 35
I never did get a message relating to this, just thought I'd best mention that since the game has now started and I start thinking about getting an IC post up in response. Though, I'll probably get onto that later. Coincidentally, I have been re-playing Fallout 3 lately, partly inspired by joining in on this RP :)
Yeah; I've had a tough week with illness and other stuff and some bad family news. Adjusting to things mostly. And going abroad, that must have been a bit of an experience with the current situation...!
The new ideas for writing posts sound like a good idea to me as well, seems like they'd work well to me, and certainly worth a try!
Hey dude, sorry in the delay of writing back. TBH, while I'm still interested I think I gave myself too much to handle by having multiple characters on Python and it's putting me off. I get vexed by having to keep writing four or five different reactions and interactions, and jumping between tabs to keep track of things, rather than just getting a reply up. On reflection, I wish I'd just kept it to one or two characters - like Silverwind and one other - as it probably would have helped my mojo flow a bit, and keep things moving with my rate of posts D: Still want to keep doing something, but maybe some editing on the go, or a soft reboot might be an answer? let me know what you think. IMO, the forum seems to be slowing down and dying a lot in activity in general as of late; there's less and less posts or activity on everything, and less and less RP's coming up that I'm really interested in. And any I try to run have just withered shockingly quickly, to the point I lose interest and motivation to make any - it's a shame, as this place used to be really active, but I think the dynamic of online RP has just moved on.
I've kind of lost my own enthusiasm for it at this point, what with people dropping out and the lack of activity. Might be best just to shelve it for now. TBH, the site as a whole just seems to be withering away these days.
@Silverwind BladeApologies for disappearing. As much as I was eager for this RP, and really enjoy the concept and the direction you're showing in the posts so far, I've lost the enthusiasm and drive I had, so I'm going to withdraw. I'm sorry if I led you on in any capacity.
That's a shame, as your posts had been great so far, as was your character. But fair enough; sad to see you go, but I know how it can be, especially with things the way they are at the moment.
If you want a mini boss pick one of the bigger suits Haman had from ZZ. If you want more up to date suits grab a few Geara Doga Customs, or some old stolen Titan Tech. Maybe of Mass Produced Quebley.
Great, thanks for those suggestions. I was already thinking of the Geara Doga for a bit later on, and a few minor alterations to it as a recurring 'grunt' enemy suit. Like the idea of stolen Titans tech as well, and the mass-produced Quebley is a good shout too - it's a very weird and cool looking suit, and would definitely make a refreshing change and a powerful adversary.
@ReedeThe23rd and @Tate - haven't heard from you both in more than a week, so I'll consider your characters out of the game if you don't reply to this round of posts, or make a post in the OOC in reply. Hopefully you're still with us!
For the rest of y'all, got another post up. Nothing terrifically interesting, but more action. Once this battle's done, we'll start getting more to the root of things - just thought a bit of action was a good start to get us fired up and going, and something for our characters to have shared. Plus, y'know... we've got these kick-ass robots, we might as well get to play with them...!
Also, I am open for suggestions for particular enemies you would like to face, if I can work them into the story and they fit into the timeline well. I realise the Gelgoog Marine's were 'antiques', but still cool suits (imo!) and seemed like a neat choice. Whatever keeps you guys excited and interested is good with me.
