Current The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

The one time I'm really eager for a Gundam - or even a mecha game where I can play using a Gundam - the site doesn't have any open or even going

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

Schützenpanzer Puma it is. Began mass production in '09 and a hell-creature to try to kill, while still having a 73kph speed ceiling and a 30 mil repeating cannon. Also a loadout of Class-C or even an unscrapped version of Class-B armor makes the thing able to stand pretty tall in urban warfare

I was going to say; something more on the scouting/light side would be a good addition. The HSTV-L is capable (extremely!) of that, but a dedicated 'light' tank or similar non-tank vehicle would be a nice bit of variety. And as Foster said, something wheeled would also be a change-up too.
The Puma is a good choice though, for sure. I do quite like a lot of the modern German vehicles myself.
Hmmmm... tempting to join. Still accepting new crews?

Certainly are! Would be easy enough write yours up as joining up with our unit from another one after the initial push up the beach, if you can get a character sheet together quickly enough.

How many enemy tanks are there?

Right, to nail this down -
In the most recent round of posts - Maddy and the gang killed 1, and are targeting a second, and described a collection of T-72's and some T-55's
Tank-Rex killed 1, and also described BTR's and BMP's, as well as some T-72's (but, they could easily be the same ones, just for convenience and to keep things cohesive).
Ironhide has got the infantry running, as well as counterfire on enemy SPG's and weapons emplacements - whom are also now running.

I would say since we collectively (by my count) killed four before that, another four MBTs would make an even ten, which sounds like a nice number. One BTR was killed already, and at least one more BMP and BTR were mentioned in Foster's last post too, so let's say three each of those types; leaving three BMP's and two BTR's to deal with. Soft skinned vehicles can be more abundant - as they generally are - so I won't keep track of them, but the jist of it is that the enemy are falling back now, and we've got them on the run back to the town.
Minor edit made to bring my post more up-to-date with the pacing, also: Emotional support missiles:

I have a plushie Claymore (the mine kind) a friend got me as a birthday present.
It says 'front toward friend' on the front, with a cute anime-ish smiley face
How many enemy tanks are there?

Sorry, I meant to reply earlier, but time got away from me.
I don't have an exact number in mind, but my current thought is we're down to the last few vehicles, and they're running.
I'll put a more firm number on it tomorrow. Sorry for the delay and the radio silence - busy weekend, and I'm kind of sick this evening D:
Scott Valentine

Scott watched the track on his screens, fed from the E-2 Hawkeye as Jefe and Stingray's missiles flew toward their targets. There was no counter fire; their reactions were too slow. Even if they'd heard or seen the jets approaching their respective targets, the relative ground speed was too slow to do more other than, perhaps, run for cover or scream an alert - by which time, Ximena and Ayvee's bombs or missiles would already be hitting their targets.
And just as he predicted and expected, the tracks showing the enemy radar winked out of existence, and it was proper go time. Skywatch's voice came over the radio, calling out the targets as hit, and Scott picked up the thread.
"Heartbreak, engaging!"
The radar in the Harrier's dark grey nose went active, and in an instant he'd picked out the shape of one of the Libyan navy corvettes. He climbed and throttled up slightly. Already, the ship and its' escorts were nerves-raw. The plume of smoke and flame pouring from the upper works of the warship where the radar had been obliterated by Stingray's attack marked the ship well against the ocean, and was a perfect point to fix his attack. It was mirrored by a second, a short distance away, from the second corvette.
A caress of his thumb, and a duo of five hundred pound GPS-Guided JDAM's were on their way to the first ship, and he was peeling up and away, flares and chaff in his wake to discourage any counter-fire. The main radar might have been out, but the ship had subsidary fire-control radars for other weapons, and they could swat him out of the sky - if he wasn't careful, anyway.
Scooting for the coastline of Linosa to hide against the terrain, he throttled up, the dusky grey of the attack jet a blur against the terrain as he angled around for a reattack.
"Heartbreak; weapons released. All units, engage at will, over!"

Katherine Kane

Kat listened intently as Scott and Skywatch's words came over her radio. The shoreline of the island loomed ahead, and the ocean passed beneath the straight, ordnance-laden wings of her A-10. It looked low enough that a high enough wave might splash on her cockpit, or she expected the belly of the jet to be wet; but her altimeter still had her a good hundred feet off the deck.
Plenty of room.
She was a pilot trained for ground attack, she was practically soaring at this height...!
The successful call from the anti-radar attack came through, and she gently eased the stick back toward her belly, and the A-10 climbed upward (consciously ignoring the momentary sense of relief), as it crossed the coastline. Ahead, her targeting pod bracketed a trio of helicopters parked in a field, and the support equipment around them, getting closer rapidly. One of the three, a Hind gunship, had rotors turning, and a second Puma had it's own starting to slowly turn.
"Kitten, engaging!"
She slid the laser point of her Litening pod onto the grounded helo, and thumbed the weapon release, and a Maverick blasted off of the rail. quickly, she slid it across and changed weapons; four high-explosive rockets from the APKWS pods went into the Puma, and the Hind drifted into her sights as she nudged the rudder with a tap of her toes. The closing speed was too fast to try a missile or rocket; but-
She squeezed the trigger in the brief instant the gunsight drifted across the mean, almost insectoid-looking hulking shape of the Hind in its' distinctive green-and-sand camouflage. The familiar drumming thrum of the GAU-8 reverberated the cockpit and through her seat, and the nose of her jet was obscured for the briefest of moments by gunsmoke, even with the briefest stroke of the trigger -
and then she was past, standing the plane up on it's right wing in a sharp bank, coming around to check her targets and see what she'd hit, even as tracers from small-arms fire whipped past the cockpit, and stirred the air.

One thing was for certain, the Libyans were now well-aware that Cobalt squadron were there, and gunning for them. Across Linosa and Lampedusa, the skies were criss-crossed with searching eyes, and alert sirens sounded, as frantic radio messages garbled back-and-forth, calling men and women to action. The Mirage F-1 fighters on patrol immediately swung in to try and engage the aircraft of Second Flight, and the alert MiG-23's started to roll down the strip for takeoff at the airport, the other pair starting engines as their pilots climbed aboard in a frantic hurry to taxi for their own takeoff.
The HAWK batteries, blinded by the loss of their radar, were rendered effectively useless. But the ZSU-23 mobile anti-aircraft guns came to life, searching the skies with their own short-range radar, and the remaining ships doing the same.
Across Limosa, the helicopter units frantically hurried to start engines and get into the air, while the patrolling trucks and their crews scanned the skies for the intruders, desperate to try and swat them from the skies - before they were destroyed themselves.

Maddy felt a quiet thrill of satisfaction as she watched her squad go to work. They were rolling up the beach at good speed, covering for each other and seeking out the threats as they came up. She heard the chatter over the inter-vehicle radio and the feeling amplified. They might all be a bunch of disparate oddballs and with just as patchwork a group of vehicles, but all of them were showing they knew how to fight, and fight well.
However, it was time for her to take the resources at her dispsal, and shape them into a piercing spear, as they moved forward, with the line of buildings in sight on the horizon as their objective, and as fire became more focused from the opposition. The preliminary strikes from their airborne and naval cover had done a good job of smashing the heaviest opposition, but couldn't eliminate all of it completely. There was still plenty of work for them to do.
"All vehicles; great job so far. We've got them falling back. Time to keep this momentum going, and send them packing altogether. Tank-Rex, form with me and follow Belladonna up the middle; we're going after any more of the armour. Ironside; hang back and get the cover fire coming. I'm seeing a lot of dug in infantry positions ahead; take care of them. Shotgun Shine, chase the flanks and flush out any stragglers or lurkers; there's bound to be some trying their luck. And keep the big gun covered, over!"
She switched channels, speaking to her own crew as she leant back from the vision periscopes, blinking rapidly to give her eyes some relief, and glancing down and across at Leaky and Magpie.
"Genie; bring us up on Belladonna's left side, and match their speed. Magpie, Leaky, standby for targets!"

The Osorio's engine roared as it easily plowed through and over the low creases and ridges of the terrain, flattening scrubby brush under its' treads as it joined up with the M60 in the lead. The turret swivelled as Maddy scanned their surroundings. Ahead of them, a formation of Iranian T-72's and a couple of older T-55's were on the move, their domed turrets swivelling, and muzzle flashes lighting up as they tried to get a bead on the advancing Shattered Steel forces. Beyond them, IFV's and APCs started to move as well, rolling back from their defensive positions after they loaded their squads and heading for the the town and fallback positions.
"Target in the open; enemy T-55. Load AP!"
Magpie swung into action and swiftly loaded one of the APFSDS shells into the 120's breech and it slid smoothly home, with him standing back and giving space as Leaky pressed his eyes to the rubber shroud around the gunsight.
"Loaded!"
"Send it!" Maddy yelled, and Leaky's call of 'On the way!' was almost lost with the THOOM of the gun firing.
The T-55's domed turret sparked, and it seemed as if it had bounced off, before the tank lurched sideways and flame billowed from every hatch and opening, before the turret blew upward on a plume of smoke and fire, the lollipop shape turning end over end, before it crashed to the ground. She grimaced as she didn't see anyone get away, but such as it was; armoured combat didn't give much room for survivors.
"Next target, T-72 at our eleven-o-clock; load AP!"

I went to tankfest earlier this year - it was a great time!
Also, I may have purchased a kit of a PzH 2000
I'm going to be away over the weekend, so I'll try and make a GM IC post to move things along once I'm back on Sunday evening.
On the upside, it's because I'm going to a model show (the plastic kit kind, not the fashion kind) at Bovington Tank Museum
I'll get another IC post up shortly to move things along, since everyone has made at least one post. Should be up in the next day or so

So, first of all; dramatic licence always applies. Even if there had been a cliff or rocky foreshore in the area, dramatic licence would be that there isn't, because it suits our narrative. Maybe the Heavenfall changed the terrain, maybe in this alternate universe, the Iranians landscaped the area. Either way - just go with it.
But as it stands; you are correct, we're going up the bit with the beach. That's why I chose it, I spent a while looking at the maps to make sure of it. Again... just go with it? I've already set up the scene. I'm not going to go back and change it now, because I've described what the region is like adequately already.

Secondly - I don't know why you're going after the theme park? The orders are to move up the beach and take out defences, and that's the scene that's been set up, not anything else. Maddy literally gave the orders and specified what the objective was. This is just a quick opening to throw us into some fun action. Anything bigger or more elaborate will come after.

EDIT: I made a cruddy map
