Not wanting to force anything, just throwing it out there in case it inspires any of those posts Wraith needs to get his fix.
Sorry, the story I'm pursuing with John is very very solo and set in England and isn't conducive to or available for interaction. This is partly by design so that if I don't get myself off the ground (which, while the planning is going well and I'm making a lot of headway in my plot and post-plan rewrites, and it's been fun and helping my juices get flowing again, is looking increasingly apparent), I also don't hamper anybody else who's gotten involved with my character. On the flipside, I also just wanted to be able to focus on a singular plot without being beholden to, or having to account for, anyone else.

Completely legitimate question, but I doubt there's any one answer to it.
People may be struggling with inspiration for how to get started (I've been there), or have a concept that isn't translating to actual writing (been there too), running into unexpected life happens stuff (got the t-shirt), or maybe its something else entirely. I suspect the answer could be different in each case.
At the same time, the new thread smell may have worn off to some degree and its about trying to find connections and keep people engaged.
I think if anyone falls into the above categories, the GM team is here but throwing a line in the OOC can be a good start as well.
So then on this, it's as I outlined in my sheet; this is an attempt after complete burnout from my now-ex-job and plummeting to the worst mental health state I've ever been in in my life to figure out if I even can write anymore/again, and the application was made with the caveat that I might flatline out the gate. That might very well be happening and I apologise, but either way I'm carrying on with my plotting, and if I get as far as posts I'll share what I can.

I personally don't get the imgur ban. Like, they already banned all the porn from imgur, what's left to protect kids from?

It’s not a targeted ban of Imgur; it’s a decision by Imgur themselves to stop servicing the UK, because if they want to, they have to do it within the criteria of the new Online Safety Act, or face penalty, and it’s easier to opt out of servicing a region entirely than it is to change the infrastructure of your site/service, or introduce new infrastructure, to operate within those constraints. This isn’t the Online Safety Act restricting Imgur, it’s Imgur switching off service for the UK because they’ve decided it’s too much hassle to continue. Either way it’s putrid dogshit but what isn’t in the world today.
It also has nothing to do with protecting children, that’s just a clichéd facist dogwhistle rolled out on demand to get new governmental control and monitoring tools and legislation out the door.
I'm currently in the process of maybe contemplating doing a "Hero takes over other heroes mantle" But a Marvel character taking over a DC mantle, or viseversa. I'm currently thinking maybe:
*Pietro Rasputin is sick of the Brotherhood, sick of humanity, sick of everyone and everything. Everything is just too slow, the wheels of time, the politics, everyone refusing to listen to each other. Running away from everything he ever knew, he finally runs into a man who moves as fast as he does. Wally West takes the young Pietro under his wing and Pietro has to learn that just because the world doesn't move as fast as him, doesn't mean it's not still moving towards something better.
*Al Rothstein finds out that Terry Curtis, his grandfather, used to work with a "Doctor Hank Pym" in order to find out more about growing and shrinking using atomic power. This lead to the discovery of Pym Particles and his grandfathers mysterious disappearance. Al goes to Hank and working together, he becomes The Ant Man in order to hunt down his grandfather, all the while stopping this mysterious villains that are now threatening the world. Ultra-Humanite and his minion, Cyclotron.
*Magik gets the Helmet of Doctor Fate (And Illyana being pissed that he won't just give her power without taking over. They develop an Eddie-Venom relationship)
*Michael Carter works at the Superhero museum of 2442 stumbles across the suit of one of the greatest heroes of all time as well as a time machine. He decides he'll turn his life around by going back in time and becoming this greatest hero... Arriving back in the 2020's, he decides he'll become The one and only, SPIDER-MAN!!! Then he finds out that the one and only Spider-Man already exists... But the suit is too cool... So, he becomes The One and Only BLUE BEETLE!!! Then he gets attacked by one Ted Kord wanting to discuss copyright issues... And a friendship the likes of which has never been seen is born...
*Detective Chimp and Lockjaw found the Legion of Superpets.
*Instead of being found as a young man by Jamal Afari, Blade was found by John Henry Irons who built him a suit of armour to fight those Vampires.
*Bailey Briggs got written back into reality but without his spider-powers. Things seemed to be as low as humanly possible for him... Until he finds his way into a myserious cave with an old man who tells him "My name is Shazam. Speak my name and i will give you the powers of the gods..."
*The father of Jessica Drew's baby is revealed... It's Guy Gardner who just buggered off to Oa to become a Green Lantern. Jessica's greatest hope is that one day, she will get to Oa and drag him back to take some damn responsibility... That hope is strong... Too strong... A Blue Lantern ring finds her and Jessica sets off on a trip across space. The Quest to Kick Guy Gardner's Ass! But will Hope be enough?
I understand we have to have the contractual once-a-game Transformers request, but when that inevitably gets shot down why do we also have to have the 'throws eight ideas at the wall and tries to crowd-source his sheet', instead of you just picking the idea you like the most/want to do the most, writing a passionate sheet, and applying?
If it's not off-the-wall like TMNT or Transformers or Sonic the Hedgehog idk why you wait for permission. Just write the sheet and see if it makes it.

John Constantine is a man with sadness and heartbreak at his core, and I think the idea of him as a wretched, pitiable figure who'd rather just have a normal life but is inexorably forced - one way or another - to face into tragedy after tragedy is one left by the wayside in many incarnations and appearances. The use of the Absolute ident is no accident or embellishment, either; the central principle of DC's new run is to retain the core traits and pillars of the characters while stripping away something previously thought vital: Bruce's wealth, Kal-El's upbringing with the Kents, Flash's connection to the Speedforce. My Constantine - my Absolute Hellblazer - is a John without Astra, without magic; and yet, calamity somehow even more profound has struck him down, and John will have to rely on deals struck with others and the strength of his own wits to claw himself back from the Hell he will find himself mired in. |
