Current I'm a pretty good writer and former site staff; I still deal with imposter syndrome every time I log on. You're definitely not alone. And t's worth trying anyway.

I just finished The Secret History, a very Gen X book. Never Let Me Go before that, which I'd recommend to any writer outside the MFA atmosphere who wants to know emotonal restraint.

"It all goes back and back, to our mothers and fathers and theirs before them. We are puppets dancing on the strings of those who came before us, and one day our own children will take up our strings and dance in our steads." - Tyrion Lannister

This is a game set in the world of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series, as well as the short stories of the Hedge Knight, and most recently HBO's adaption series 'Game of Thrones'. Credit and thanks goes to Mr. Martin himself. And of course to those taking the time to participate.

This is, however, an 'Alternate Universe' game. While canon is where our story begins...it will certainly not be where it ends.

Westeros has suffered long under the shadow of a bloody civil war. Greens versus Blacks, King versus Queen, siblings against siblings, sometimes friends against friends. Anymore survivor against the dead is the best count of life quality in the Seven Kingdoms. The end of summer brought with it a large bounty for many, if only so many of the men to harvest weren't dead or still dying. Murder took the King, the Sea Snake punished for it with his life. The Hour of the Wolf brought swift justice and little else; the Stark Lord throwing the Realm up to a Regent Council.

Who it compromises of is an unsettled matter, even though King Aegon the Third of His Name of House Targaryen, has been in place for well over two weeks. For the city of King's Landing it may feel like nearly every noble house in Westeros has a contingent in the capital; and near all of them busy conducting the business of who gets a seat at the Council of Regents, and how some of the spoils of the war might get handed out. And if it isn't talk of Regents and war spoils, it's of the reavers raiding the West and the Riverlands and the North after sacking Lannisport.

Or what noble daughter will marry the new boy King.

IC Details

  • The game will begin within the autumn of 131 AC.
  • All armies have returned home in hopes of one last harvest.
  • Most noble families have at least a representative in King's Landing.
  • House Velaryon has taken heavy blame for the death of King Aegon II.
  • Regent Council and Small Council seats open for PCs.
  • A year after sacking Lannisport, the Ironborn are raiding constantly.
  • Leaders of Free Cities open for consideration.
  • The game will start the night of Aegon III's coronation.
  • Don't worry about canons, but if you want, you can apply for one.
    • I will be NPCing Aegon III as the GM.
  • Four dragons remain: Silverwing, Sheepstealer & the Cannibal and one unnamed that was omitted from tPatQ. Considering allowing for riders.

OOC Details

  • I will be the lone staffer in Management for this take, at least for right now. Subject to change.
  • If you've played in a few of these before and want a chance to Co-GM, let me know. I may need the help later.
  • Post WIP/Completed Character Sheets under the Character Tab.
  • Advanced standards. Reasonable posting rate: one post every week, at least.
  • You are assumed to be an adult by submitting a character for this game; please act like one.
  • Applications may take a few days before a decision can be made. Generally issues will be resolved over PMs.
  • Players are encouraged to play typically one-on-one scenarios, large battle scenarios, cloak-and-dagger scenarios, small plots and large plots. To be creative, and to interactive with their fellow players on their own to plot is expected. Take initiative.

Character Sheets

Please note: Apply for one character, or an entire House. Generally, players will either pick up a canon house or create their own house and roleplay with one or several members of it. This means each player is entitled to several characters per house. However, they do not all have to be members of said house by ties of blood. Instead you can use several types of characters as points of views.

Naturally there are other options in the world of aSoIaF, such as Septons, hedge knights and sellswords, spies and spymasters, mercenaries and merchants from across the Narrow Sea, and many more. Additionally, as spots fill up or the need arises, players are allowed to play as more than one house or take over a fallen one. New to this iteration of the game is the option to play a leader of one of the Free Cities. Get creative, don't be afraid to push a few boundaries.

Before I begin with the short spur that i'm going to throw out in a moment, I just want to make it clear that this is not intended to disgrace fandom RPs or those set in existing works, after all roleplay takes many forms and being able to play around in a setting you enjoy is perfectly fine and acceptable. This post is intended for both idea sharing and topic discussion.

I just want to point out that the number of fandom RPs certainly outweighs the original ones. Personally, I find creating universes and settings to be enjoyable and invigorating. To think of a whole new world, times and places, fantasies and everything in between. To fill it with people and histories, to provide a new and fresh sandbox for stories to be told in. It just feels like a whole new world to explore, and my mind can run wild thinking about how to put it together, piece by piece. I'm sure i'm not the only one who feels that way. If you ever catch yourself daydreaming about stuff like that, nurture the thought and let it blossom, 'cause you might have something interesting there.

The world and what fills it serves as a foundation. From there you can build upon it with the story you want to tell. I know this was more about setting than characters or story, but a solid foundation is a good footing for the two topics. Feel free to discuss character creating or story making tips/concepts as well.

All of you are here for your different reasons, but i'm sure you share several of those reasons. You like to write, you're imaginative, creative. You all want to have a story somewhere that was scribbled down alongside many others. One that you were able to share and build with a group. I'm sure many of you out there have fantasies and worlds you'd want to live out, so lets start the fire and apply some fresh paint to this canvas!

I keep my original content to my writing to be published. =)

Before I did write to be published, I used original content in my for fun/Guild writing. But not since, and I certainly would never apologize for taking that stance.

I'll take PART in original settings/stories, but you probably won't find me GMing anything original.
OOC in the works.

CS is a go.

Post it in the OOC first?

HeySeuss was pre-approved.

Welcome to Magic's Blight, a game set within the cyberpunk 'fantasyland' of the Shadowrun universe. It's been seven years since the Crash 2.0 crippled the safe bubble the meek, the mild, and the mundane have gotten quite accustomed to living their lives in. Luckily for them, and unluckily for anyone else, the great Corporate Court was able to lead a recovery far faster than many might have thought in the days directly after the Crash. They've even given us the wireless Matrix. All you need's the right little chip and you can do anything from turn on your coffee maker to do cyber battle between you and another decker--though the kids all call themselves "hackers" now.

Our game will be focusing on a small group of Shadowrunners. The player chaeracters should be about mid-range runners; most probably on the rise, maybe a steady old hand or two, etc, the options are pretty open. Veterans of corporate extractions and infilitration, people not shocked at the sight of corporate strike teams, but not anyone that's going to laugh in the face of one. Don't go overboard, but make it someone worth noticing if they were scouting for hidden/lesser known talents to include a dangerous job that can only be done by those that won't immediately set off flags if they're hired.

IC Details

  • Year 2071, Seattle Metroplex.
  • Seattle is slowly recovering from one of the worst crime waves in decades; a wave mostly fueled by the hyperaddictive drug Tempo.
  • The last decade has seen a new surge in metahuman transformations, and the emergence of Technomancers: metahuman tensions are high.
  • The Ancients are the dominate gang; the Cutters behind them, and the recovering Halloweeners behind them.
  • Shadowland BBS has been replaced with the Peer 2 Peer Fastjack network.
  • "Something" has been disturbing magical forces across the entire west coast of North America for weeks now.
    • Most magic users would see their magic turn erratic, and weakened. Others still might be disconnected entirely, or talents reduced to parlor tricks.
    • The media talks of magical "overuse", others still that the Earth is taking back what it gave again: but the most connected hear rumors of a super FAB.

OOC Details

  • Currently I'm the only GM for the game.
  • I won't, myself, be writing a PC. Plans could change, but that's the plan for now.
  • This isn't a first come, first served approach to character approval.
  • Thinking four to five players right now. Even after we hit capacity, feel free to put in a CS for "reserve."
  • Advanced standards; common sense approach.
  • Character Sheets will be posted on the OOC for approval/disapproval. Not all decisions will be made public.

The plot itself will focus on the group being assembled, and going on the job, although there will likely be "set up" tasks before the main push. The story has been put in place, but I'm leaving the plot a little open ended to give you players a chance to have some control on how it all plays out. The job in question is a corporate acquisition job, though obviously the details will be left for the IC. Oh, and it might be more than it appears on the surface. Go figure, right? Hopefully the team does a little research.

@HeySeuss will be playing the lead Shadowrunner for our little band of misfits, so it might be wise to consider how your character might have some connection to his. Though this isn't a requirement. Likewise, the Mr. Johnson will provide a "start up" fund for weapon/vehicle procurement, so avoid listing anything larger than a pistol for weapons in Character Sheet.

We might have enough interest to warrant an OOC.

Awesome! I'll try to get a CS up sometime today.

That would be difficult without a CS outline given to fill out. ;)
