I just finished The Secret History, a very Gen X book. Never Let Me Go before that, which I'd recommend to any writer outside the MFA atmosphere who wants to know emotonal restraint.
How long do you usually write? Several paragraphs - typically in the 2-5 range
Do you enjoy writing collaborative posts for things like conversations, combat, etc.? Conversations, especially, are a great time for collaborative posts in that the interactions can be a lot more fluid for the writers and more coherent for the readers, so absolutely.
Is grammar and depth of writing important to you? I'm not a stickler for grammar, though am for spelling given that most browsers have spell check built in so it's lazy not to correct the errors. I prefer enough depth to give the characters and story meaning, but it doesn't need to be amazing.
Are there any writing subjects you particularly enjoy exploring? In terms of story, not really. I prefer character interactions and how they deal with situations, ordinary and otherwise, together.
Is there anything you really dislike and want to avoid like the plague? Stories and writing that focuses too much on technicalities or things as opposed to people. If characters aren't the driver, it won't be horrible for me, but I'll lose interest quickly.
Is there something you are uncomfortable with happening to your character? Not off hand. Assuming it's been run past me first, I'm usually open to exploring just about anything regardless of it being mature, edgy, violent, or whatever and everyone is comfortable with it.
Do you have any short-term or long-term goals with this character?
Yes. I've targeted this character as a compliment to one already submitted by someone I enjoy roleplaying with. Specifically, she is to be in a relationship with Nahtisse Ratinde.
Name: Ryndi Erganci Species: Zeltron Homeworld: Zeltros Age: 23 Gender: Female Specialisation: Exotic entertainment Current area of operation: Alderaan, Inner Rim
Short description of looks & style.
A striking beauty, even by Zeltron standards, Ryndi's is a tall, voluptuous figure that moves with effortless grace. Long, gentle curves of electric blue hair fall in waves to her waist, contrasting against a flawless rouge complexion. Her pale eyes sparkle with a faint violet, the irises ringed in a deep indigo. As an exotic entertainer, her style is nearly always revealing and frequently sheer where not prohibited by cultural standards of decency. With regard to color, Ryndi favors blues, reds, and the purples in between as she feels they accentuate her features. She loves jewelry and has several piercings for displaying it, though large expanses of skin remain without blemish or adornment.
Simplified report on known skills and estimated levels.
Dancer - Excellent Exotic entertainer - Excellent Informant - Excellent Smuggler - Very good for small, inanimate things, poor for cargo and life forms. Confidence games - Good, but dependent on the nature of the scam. Excellent where attraction and manipulation are key, poor where intimidation or impersonation are more useful. Gambling - Very good Combat - Fair. She's not bad with a blaster, but rarely resorts to using one, instead preferring to negotiate or bargain her way clear of trouble. Or better still, avoid it entirely.
Quick report on favored employers, associates, contacts and rivals.
Regular associate and lover of Nahtisse Ratinde. Ryndi has no known, serious rivals and rarely invites enmity. To the contrary, she strives to maintain good relationships to the point of going out of her way to promote them. Ryndi is typically employed by larger groups within the Inner Rim and is reluctant to go far from Zeltros. Employers include virtually everything from military and government entities, to corporate and trade, to criminal organizations, and often just larger exotic entertainment clubs and zones. She considers herself a performer first and foremost and rarely takes a side in any dispute, leaving her free to bring pleasure to anyone seeking it.
How freely can the courier move in the galaxy? Are there or have there been any outstanding bounties?
There are no outstanding bounties and Ryndi travels frequently given her work as an entertainer. She has no known political or faction affiliations and is commonly employed by both legitimate and criminal entities.
Psychological evaluation of Courier.
Stable and not easily flustered. She deals with a variety of powerful and often unsavory clients so keeping a cool head is essential.
List and description of known and suspected flaws. To be put into restricted database.
Ryndi is a recreational user of glitterstim, though there are no known incidents where its use has interfered with her work, nor does she show any signs of addiction.
Major achievements and failures on record.
Ryndi lost a small spice shipment when it was confiscated by pirates while en route to Balmorra on a small trade vessel. Captivated by her beauty and aware of her reputation as a 'performer', the pirates took Ryndi captive as well. While she managed to bargain her release, that it involved performing with the captain's kybuck left her unable to perform for nearly a month.
Personal biography, as detailed by the subject for future record. Acquired shortly after last achievement of note.
Ryndi is the youngest of eight, evenly split in gender, in a close-knit family that still resides on Zeltros. Her mother is an exotic dancer, often also taking private engagements, and she is the origin of many of talents for which Ryndi has achieved a measure of fame. In fact, she's the only of the eight to follow in their mother's trade, owing almost entirely to her precocious development. Her passion for dance and performance showed early, and she began learning the former by imitating her mother nearly as soon as she could walk. By adolescence, Ryndi had grown to 5'10" and her figure had blossomed such that she appeared a statuesque woman well before being of a decent age to perform legally. She began dancing regardless, so that by the time she was able to legitimately do so, she'd already become quite experienced.
With her mother's encouragement and promotion, combined with Ryndi's talent and striking appearance, the girl achieved a measure of fame on Zeltros that expanded from dancing and intimate, private engagements to explicit exotic shows in larger venues. With that, demand for private engagements grew as did her fee for accepting them, and correspondingly the level of clientele able to afford her services. That shift opened new doors, as Ryndi found herself privy to sensitive information, making new contacts, and asked to travel through much of the Inner Rim, often on private vessels. Smuggling became a natural extension of her repertoire, as her growing reputation often allowed her to easily clear checkpoints. When it didn't, she could usually offer herself in trade for her release.
After an exotic performance on Zeltros, Ryndi was approached by Nahtisse Ratinde, a bounty hunter who'd tracked a fugitive to the planet. The pair struck up a conversation and quickly became lovers, ultimately turning a casual evening into a two-week affair and head start for Nahtisse's quarry. Feeling obligated to assist after having detained the bounty hunter for so long, Ryndi used her contacts to locate the fugitive, and thus began a sort of partnership and on-and-off relationship between her and Nahtisse. The couple have since entered a martial union and Ryndi has relocated to Alderaan to live with Nahtisse, to whom she is very much attached. That said, in concession to the Zeltron, Nahtisse allows her to continue her career, having redefined fidelity as loyalty rather than physical exclusivity.
Name: Vera Brax Occupation and Affiliation: CEO of CEC.
Description: Under the surface of Corellian technopunk is a pretty face with long hair of ever-changing color. Tall enough at 5'6 and athletic enough, at least she tries to work out. She is always casual or street, even when she's talking to the loftiest self-important asshats in the Galaxy.
Background: Genius, rich, and utterly obsessed. And she has cared about two of those things her entire life. The other, wealth, has always been closer to a means to an end than an actual end in and of itself. The daughter of an eccentric former head of design at CEC and his once street hustling criminal of a wife. If anyone in Corellia has been playing the long game for Corellia it's Vera.
She's locked herself on the shipyards, where CEC continues to work, but has been spotted planetside on more than one occasion. A network of pro-Empire, pro-Republic, and pro-Independence factions all curry her favor and none exactly knows where they truly stand with her. All the while she finds herself more concerned with what secrets she's finding out about Corellia's "guests" activities on the surface of their planet, and below.
Was thinking of possibly playing the Tyrells if it’s not too late? (I’ve already spoken to RisingSun and he’s said he’s not planning on continuing with them)
Not slamming into the bulkhead of the shuttle was a fun game of push and balance, and cat-quick readjustments of her body. Satele very nearly asked the Jedi pilot if he needed her to take over. She knew better, and so kept her mouth shut, but the temptation was very real. The only thing that made the ride any kind of positive was the fact that she got to see Jace Malcom get tossed around like a ragdoll. Nothing was going to hide the large grin across her face as she watched him retreat and reach out for his combat armor. The moment her eyes found her's across the shuttle, she burst out laughing.
Even the Supreme Commander cracked a smile, shaking his head as he did.
"If we're not in the Jedi Temple, stay close to me Jace--no kidding. Tython's already in turmoil."
With her luck some random lightning strike would kill the Supreme Commander, and then the Jedi and the Republic would have real problems, not just surface level petty bickering between the petty and the Jedi. When the doors opened Jace braced himself, and Satele did the same; though she did so by standing very still and reaching inward. When the wind came it came in a violent burst, and just as quickly died.
Died completely dead.
Satele blinked. She shot a quick glance over at Jace, who was eyeing her a little too deeply for her likeing. "It wasn't me," she snorted, before strolling off the shuttle and spotting the welcoming comittee. Three Jedi, each a Master, the first to step forward a fellow member of the Jedi Council. Her exposed upper arm still had a long, angry red, scar on it from where her rumble through the Dxun jungle. A visible scar that caught the attention of the other Master Jedi, safe and fully robed as they were.
"Grand Master, we believe there is a Sith on the planet."
Satele let her eyes dart between the three of them, her head slowly nodding, "I'm not sure it's a Sith. I felt them on the orbital station, when they were going by. More concerning is how they found Tython at all, and where they got the information to find us. Hopefully our visitor can shed some light on that, but in case they can't, assign a few veteran Shadows to the task of finding the leak. The moment they know anything report it to the Council."
The Master's head nodded, and Satele smiled softly in thanks as the three Masters mummered a quick greeting to the hulking Supreme Commander behind her before one of them added, "Your new Padawan awaits you." Her eyes perked at the information as she turned to Jace, motioning for him to follow again with a short jerk of her head. Long halls crowded with activity and pockets of chatting--gossiping--Jedi were past until a narrow stairway down led the duo in a spiral to a lower level, another corridor and a quick turn to the left--a large room with a tall ceiling. It was closer to the size of a ballroom than an actual standard room, but it wasn't used for dancing.
It was filled with younglings. Half of them looking scared, the other half pretending not to look scared.
"Grand Master!"
They instantly began to crowd the Jedi Grand Master. That the younglings were her very first stop upon returning to Tython wasn't unusual, especially given the circumstances. The young were their most important responsbility as Jedi. Jace would just have to watch as he was left behind, the crowd of younglings entirely encircling Satele Shan. She knew every name, every heart, every soul, every story. As much as Theron was angry, she had watched him and been close as she could every moment she could while he was a youngling in the Order, himself. As much as Theron had needed her, these young children needed her too.
Bright smiling, cheerful tone, and a vibrant energy that ensured every set of youngling eyes were on her so that she could show them it was going to be okay, they needn't be scared. She explained to them the Force storms, and that a Dark Side user had made it to the surface but that the Jedi had been on the person immediately and had already isolated them to a location on Tython far from the Jedi Temple. After listening to a dozen or so younglings tell her ALL about what they'd been dying to tell her about since she'd been gone, Satele smiled to one of the Jedi keeping watch and leading the large group training session before Satele busted in and interrupted.
"Sorry, Yuli."
The Jedi nodded gently, an even gentler chuckle slipping from his tongue, "I wouldn't dream of denying them the honor, Grand Master."
A playful wink to the smartassed Jedi and Satele was ducking out the opposite door, waiting for Jace to catch up, big brown eyes large and bright on him. "Not a word, Supreme Commander. C'mon I need to change and meet my new Padawan. You can hang out with me until the Council meets."
